Is Martin Shkreli a good investor? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:46 AM PST Just out of curiosity. I'm a finance major interested in value investing, and Shkreli seems extremely knowledgable about biotech companies and pharmaceuticals. He's had his own hedge funds (granted one of them failed) and seems successful in his stock picks. Is he a good person to learn from if I'm interested in value investing? He is an extremely peculiar individual, but he streams a lot of instructional investing videos and I'm interested to find out how worthwhile they are. [link] [comments] |
Uncovering interesting companies through string searches in SEC filings Posted: 03 Feb 2018 03:02 AM PST Hey Guys&Girls, Do any of you have specific words you search for in specific filings to find companies you want to scrutinize? For example "property sale" in a K-8 etc. Also maybe if you know good guides to this kind of search contrasted to automatic screens, which is less Labour some and hence more utilized and less good in uncovering prospective investments. Pitching porfolio company to fund - unfortunate timing Posted: 02 Feb 2018 10:24 AM PST Ladies / gents - As I am preparing interviews with value shops I worked on an idea. The fund came out with their 13-F and bought a small position in the same company. I do not want to look like a complete rookie pitching it and making the impression I did not research their fund. Also, the fund had 3-4 months to work on their investment vs me working on it after work and hence they have a clear informational advantage. Should I still pitch the company or rather look for a different company? Thanks [link] [comments] |
