As the title suggests, there has been multiple cases of this happening. I sent these pictures when I was under 18 (I'm 19 now) to an online ex I'm fairly certain he is in ownership of this account pretending to be me, but to due the sheer amount of times he reuploads them everytime I try to take them down, Imagefap no longer believes I want them taken down. If I were to contact a legal team, what are the procedures in doing so? I have lots of proof to show that I was underage, but I don't know where the ex is residing in currently. He lives in Toronto, Canada as well. Do I contact a Texas attorney or Canadian one?

Here is the email they sent me: https://imgur.com/a/4q0m2

Swat team broke down my front door, who foots the bill? Fairfax Va

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 11:29 PM PST

My brother is a hardcore drug seller, and has in the past sold drugs from our house. He has since been kicked out and hasn't been home in a few weeks, despite this the police sent a swat team of about 30 officers to our house today to look for him. In the process of looking for him, as the title states, they broke our front door to the point where it can't lock, and trashed the house (all right the last one is just me ranting... but good god did they leave a mess, in my room alone they poured a trash can on the ground and pulled out all of my drawers and anything inside) who in this case would foot the bill for the door? Is there a lengthy process of paperwork I would have to go through? Is it at the mercy of the good will of the officers? Or is it legally expected? I'm a bit antsy from the ordeal, so sorry for any spelling or grammar errors.

Edit for clarification as I didn't expect this post to blow up

Yes my brother was legally evicted from the house 3 weeks before the situation , the warrant was a search for my brother. And The warrant was also a no knock infiltration

[IN] Company suddenly wanting to do religious things at mandatory meetings.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:25 AM PST

My partner works for a company that is religious based, but that was mostly in the background in the beginning, (prayers at the start of meetings, end of meetings, chain-mail, etc.) But now, it's evolved into them tackling on mandatory meetings on top of an already 40+ hour week where they're attempting to get him and the others to go over bible verses to analyze and discuss.

As my partner is not exactly religious in that way, is there any legal standing, being in Indiana? It feels like religious discrimination, but I don't know how the Religious Freedom Restoration Act affected everything.

[UPDATE] I talked to my parents about the "sugar mommy" and we talked to the police.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:08 PM PST

I told my parents that night and well it didn't go that well. They were super angry and called me a lot of harsh words. I know I made a mistake but it really hurt. I do my best to make them proud and get good grades, dont get in trouble at school, and do sports and even the slightest mistakes make them angry at me. I feel like they wish I was never born sometimes :/.Nothing I do seems to make them say "I'm proud of you" or "I love you son. Great job!". Just "Okay" and "Cool".

Anyways, that weekend, they decided to take me to the police and have me report it. The police, well, they weren't that great either. The cop we talked to just sort of laughed it off but I showed him the text messages and he said he would look into the issue and talk to the woman soon. I'm not sure he will. We will probably have to go back and report it again. I'm pretty sure that the "perpetrator" or the one being accused is normally arrested immediately (I think). But yeah we just told them, the cop said he would look into it, and then we went home.

Unfortunately, I dont have much physical evidence to present. I think if she is not lying and she really does have a kid, then I can get a paternity test and she will get in trouble but until then, I dont think anything will happen :/. There's no video evidence and probably no physical evidence either. She gave me all the money in cash too so there likely isn't a paper trail showing she gave me the money.

Ex Wife Stalking Me After 8 Years

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:23 AM PST

I'm posting in another sub the other day and all of the sudden along comes this post behind mine bashing me. Turns out it's my ex wife. Looking through her post history she's been following me through subs and posting behind me assaulting my character constantly. This has gone on for 8 years. Every time I change my name on social media she finds me or my wife and starts the same nonsense up again.

Is there any legal way to get her to cease and desist or do I have to just deal with it?

Rent debt sent to collection agency while I was at bootcamp

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:12 AM PST

    (ARKANSAS)

    Good morning Reddit,

I've been stressed about this for a few months. I'm young and just got out of USMC bootcamp and secondary training to find this collection on my credit report of $1,100. I called the collection agency and they sent me a "bill" that lists out everything I "owe". Apparently my old apartment complex (which I lived in while going to college for a year), claims I didn't notify them that I was leaving (I physically gave hem a sheet of paper - as soon as I knew what day I was leaving, at least a month before I actually left). But I was also in good communication with the manager months before when I actually signed up. They also claim I owe cleaning fees, the apartment was a shit hole when I moved in, it hadn't been cleaned. When I moved out no one did a walk through with me as the office was closed. I went to the office the day before to turn in my final rent check and asked if I owe ANYTHING else, the guy said no. I don't have any mail from them saying that I ever owed anything, nor anything from the collection agency until I called them for clarification on what the hell this was. I'm not really sure what to do about this. This apartment complex is good at fucking over college kids who don't really know how this kind of stuff works. The entire time I lived there they tried this crap. I'm asking my parents to send my important papers to me in the mail so I can flip through and find the notification of me breaking the lease, etc etc.

What should be my next steps? Any advice is appreciated.

[MD] Tax issue. Title company issued the wrong address and I just found out that I owe taxes by being served with a tax sale notice.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:33 AM PST

I just found out last friday that my house is being put up for tax sale. I bought the house cash, and somehow the address assigned to it was in an entirely different state. I am now trying to redeem and I have to pay a fortune in penalties and fees and legal fees. I feel like the title company should be responsible for assigning the correct mailing address to the property when I closed. Is this the case? or am I screwed?

Navient can't find my loans but they're on my credit reports

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:22 AM PST

I have been trying pay my student loans through Navient for years now but they say they have no record of my loans. I checked the national loans database per Navients request and they have no documentation of my loans either. I wrote to Navient asking for documentation of the loans and they sent it! Calling Navient they still can't locate my loans. We thought my social was wrong so I sent in my social security card and no changes were made. I have accrued a ton of interest on loans I cannot pay due to them not being able to locate me. What can I do??? They obviously are no help and now I have 4k in interest for an account they can't find and I can't access. These loans are on my credit reports and I am taking a hit due to non-payment but I call Navient about once a month to try and figure it out (for the past 7 years!) and they can never find any loans in my name. What can I do? Years battling with nothing to show but more interest fees and debt getting huge!

Cross EPO conundrum. What are my options when I’ve had someone removed from the house due to an assault, but they file an EPO days later that says we both have to leave the residence?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:03 AM PST

Basically I was assaulted during an argument by someone I was in a relationship with. I filed a police report, they took pictures and then suggested I get an EPO done. It was granted and the person was removed from the situation and ordered not to come within 500 feet until our court date.

Turns out this person, two days later, went and had an EPO taken out against me saying they felt unsafe in the home, and that they were only defending themselves against me. These are lies that will be cleared up in court, but right now the order states that I have to vacate my own home for a week. How is this possible? The offender has already been ordered to leave the house and not come within 500 feet of me, and now out of revenge I'm being forced out of my house for nothing. Is there any way I can have this looked at or amended, any legal recourse?

This person has also not paid their part of the rent for the upcoming month and already offered to be taken off the lease. We live in Kentucky.

This is all new to me, if there is a better sub to post this please let me know and thank you for your time.

Pregnant and being given a tough time at work.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:55 PM PST

I'm in Ohio. I work in a large retail store part time. Been there for 4 years. Never had a problem with attendance or anything before. I became pregnant and have had an extremely rough pregnancy. I also have hypermesis gravidarum, which is extreme nausea and vomiting. I have to eat every two hours or I become too nauseous to the point I get so sick and can't keep anything down and end up having to go to the hospital to get an iv due to dehydration. I've had to go to the ER twice in January bc my job wouldn't let me take a break to eat something, even though I have a note from my doctor saying I need to eat. So I became so sick from not eating that I ended up dehydrated from the constant puking. Then they decided to write me up for my attendance bc I called into work after being in the emergency room all night. My attendance for the month of January didn't violate our attendance policy or warrant a write up yet. I have one specific manager who all of a sudden has a problem with me bc she knows I won't be coming back to work after having the baby. I feel as though she's trying to drive me out bc she's the only one who cares if I have to go eat something. She denies all my requests for days off for doctors appts. She changed my job position and won't let me work in my usual spot anymore because I sat down for a few minutes at the chair that is at my desk. So now I work in a harder position where I have to lift and do a lot more work than I should be doing. And I'm feeling personally victimized by her. I've talked to our Human Resources and I think since I've done that it's only made it worse. What could I do?

    Botched tow by roadside assistance

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:31 AM PST

To start off I wasn't sure if this qualifies as small claims procedure or other civil so I picked one.

Sorry for how long this is going to be, I want to include all the detail I can remember. I'll try to tl;dr as best I can at the botton

My location is north central Florida.

Last night on my way to work I ended up with two flat tires on my passenger side. I'm not 100% sure how it happened but that's not the issue at hand. The issue I'm having is that I called roadside assistance that was part of my warranty package through Ford, where I bought my car.

I called them at about 6:30pm and after taking all the info they needed they said they would set up a tow right away. About 5 minutes later I receive the text verifying the details of the company selected to do the tow and their ETA. The ETA was roughly 2 hours after I had received the alert. Fine, I'm in the middle of nowhere and expected it to take a while, but knew there were tow companies much closer than the one selected roughly an hour drive away. Just to be sure, I called roadside assistance back and inquired about any closer tow companies. Basically what they told me was that was what they found with a quick search of their database and that they would be looking for something much closer.

Confused as to why they would book a tow but still look around for something closer, I called the tow company. They told me they had received the inquiry from the roadside assistance company, but had not been given the go ahead to active the job. I called roadside assistance back and asked about the issue, pretty much they were still looking for a closer tow.

After about half an hour with no update I call them back once more, this time they tell me there's confusion with my location and ask for me to name any businesses or cross street near me to pinpoint my location (this is after I've already consented to have my location determined by my phone gps.) I'm on the side of a county road in the middle of nowhere, there are no cross streets or businesses to identify. I give them the nearest roads on each end of the road and get the same "we will continue to look for a closer tow.

Once again, Im waiting on the side of the road in pitch black dark waiting for an update, no update comes. So I call again, and again have to explain my location. This time, however they tell me they're going to go ahead and book the original tow company. If they had done that to begin with I woukd have already been towed because at this point it's been about 2 hours since I first requested assistance.

Fast forward about 45 minutes to an hour and the tow truck finally shows up. Immediately I realize they ignored any information I gave them initially when I told them I had a low sitting car (stock 2017 mustang) and that they would probably need a car dolly. Whatever, I'm too frustrated to think straight and just want to get to work, already 2 and a half hours late at this point.

Now to the major issue I'm concerned about, this tow operator was horribly unprofessional, asking for my assistance in getting the vehicle hooked up and onto the flatbed multiple times. On his first attempt he tried just driving the car onto the bed, this resulted in my front bumper scraped horribly on the bed, part of the front lip getting partially torn off, and the back bumper nearly getting torn off as well. Then he tries winching it onto the bed, with me in the car steering for him, the chains wrapped around God knows what underneath making God awful sounds. Thankfully my mother was at the scene waiting with me, otherwise I never would have know his chains where pushing the front bumper up so hard that it torn the hardware out on the fender area.

Next he rearranged the grains and repeated the process but without damaging the bumper further. This time, however, the rear bumper catches again and nearly gets torn off once again. At this point im focusing on remaining calm and I keep my cool, which I did the entire time. After trying different angles and ramps with no luck he decides to drive my car back onto the road to just winch it up on solid ground. The sound from the wheels on the assault was horrendous and I'll be surprised if I still have a clutch left after his horrid attempt at driving a manual car up a hill. Finally the car gets hoisted onto the flatbed, strapped down and is taken to the Ford dealer. At this point it's been an hour since the tow truck arrived and 3 and a half hours since the initially assistance request was made and I had to call in for the entire night because I had no idea when I would be done and get to work.

This whole time my mother was on the phone with roadside assistance filing a damage claim and describing everything as it happened. The car is currently on the dealer and I instructed them to inspect the entire car for damage caused my the shoddy tow operator.

My question to yall (yes, I'm southern) is what options do i have to both ensure my vehicle is accurately inspected as to make sure they don't try to cover themselves and to make sure I'm not stuck with paying for the repairs for damage cause by the tow operator and maybe for my lost income calling into work because of their constant delays.

Tl;dr back and forth calls with roadside assistance trying to set up a tow, 2 and a half hours later tow arrives, operator causes damage of unknown extent to my vehicle in the process, how can I make sure I'm not screwed over?

    Debt After Wife Passed Away

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:46 AM PST

I live in Oregon which does not have laws of transferring debt upon death to their spouse. Leading up to my wife's death, my wife and I were under the impression, when she died the debt she had that was only in her name would go away after she passed. After she passed I started receiving debt collection calls where they refer to her estate, saying her estate had value upon her death so they want paid via her estate. I was not expecting this. They have not specified but I assume they will threaten to put a lien on my house next. Do I have any legal recourse to stop this? Also could they legally withdraw from our mutual checking account at our bank? It was low when she died, maybe a couple hundred dollars on that day. My wife and I were both listed on the house loan, it is not paid for, and this is a ~$2K credit card that is pushing to get paid off. Thank you in advance.

My employer uses a very basic time card system. Myself and other employees have repeatedly been shorted on our pay-stubs.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:41 AM PST

I work as a delivery driver near Rockford, IL. I claim both my hours and my tips for legal reasons. We have a time card system where we simply write down how many hours we work each day, and we get paid based on those cards bi-weekly. On several occasions the hours that are written down on my card do not match up with the hours on my paycheck. After my first time noticing this, I've taken action in taking a picture of each time card, just to make sure that the I am getting paid for the hours I work. The trend is entirely shorthanded [I've never been accidentally given too many hours] I have also had conversations with other employees who report very similar events.

We are a small restaurant with roughly 40 employees, but I imagine shorting employees who don't realize they are being shorted results in quite a lot of savings for the owner. The stories also seem to show that the owner is "annoyed" at the lady who adds up the time cards. The employees basically say that the short pay-stub isn't worth the hassle of bringing up to the owner because they don't want to deal with the confrontation.

I have had one interaction with the time card lady, inquiring as to why my time card was short. She said something like "hahaha how short is it? you must be the one who writes in scribbles. I can't read everything perfectly" <---paraphrasing. I told her that I had photo evidence of my time card and that my handwriting should be extremely clear to read. She basically told me that if there is any difference on time between the pay-stub and the time card, I should write down extra hours on the next time card. [i.e time card says 50 hours but I got paid for 45, next week add 5 hours to my time card]

Since my interaction with her, my time card and pay-stub have been pretty accurate, except she still shorts me on occasion, 1 hour or so, sometimes more sometimes less. But no matter what the frequency of her mistakes has dropped off significantly.

I imagine that this is illegal in some way. I come to you r/legaladvice with some questions. Should I stick with the photo evidence and use it as needed? Is there a legal issue that should be brought up to someone like Better Business Bureau? Honestly I have no idea who I would report this to. Should I just keep my head down and make sure my finances are in check and leave the rest of the employees to defend themselves? Should I contact a lawyer?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

[Update] [CA] My sister moved in and is now threatening ME

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:47 PM PST

    Original Post

So I've got a lot on my mind today because of this woman. I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible. Sorry this ended up longer than I wanted, tldr at the bottom.

Sunday night - come home with my friend and she is hanging out with my ex boyfriend (who she was friends with first, he's a Trainwreck that's a whole nother story) and I'm pretty sure he was slamming heroin in the bathroom when I got home.

Monday morning - I need to leave for work at 630, she doesn't get up to move her car until 7. I had to bang on her door to wake her up because she's a heavy sleeper.

    Monday:

6pm - get home from work and her friend/my ex is still there.

6:30pm - I left to have dinner with my friend.

8:30pm - Come home and they are drunk and loud. I go to my room put on some cartoons and start reading.

10pm - they move from downstairs to her room next door to mine being extremely loud and obnoxious and incoherent.

10:15pm - I get fed up trying to sleep with the noise so I knock on her door and say "STFU please." This is met with hostility and anger and even more yelling than before. I return to my room and lock my door. She comes to my door and starts banging on it saying "come back out here and say it to my face little bitch" and other things like that.

10:30pm - I tell her through the door that it is past 10 which means if she continues to be loud I will call the non emergency line and report a noise complaint. This causes her to laugh hysterically and turn her tv up louder. I put my noise cancelling headphones on (which aren't comfy to sleep in) and music all the way up. Can still hear them talking.

11pm - move to my dad's (old) room at the other end of the house to try and sleep where I can't hear her anymore. Loud dogs barking but that's no relevant.

Side note: This whole time I've made sure my cat is locked in whatever room I'm in.

~11:30pm - she comes yanking on the door handle as hard as possible to my dad's room (where I'm trying to sleep) and starts freaking out that it's locked. Apparently she couldn't comprehend someone might be in there. I say "stop it you're scaring the cat" she goes ballistic. Threatening to break down the door, telling me to open it or else. I say no I'm scared of you I'm not opening it. She says "you should be scared bitch I'm gonna beat your ass when I get this open"

11:45pm - I call 911 because Im literally terrified she's going to find a way in this room and hurt me or my cat.

12am - cops arrive and basically just tell us to be quiet and civil. (Her friend ran and hid when I called them, I'm assuming he has drugs on him or a warrant out or something)

    Finally get sleep.

6:30am - as I'm about to leave for work she sits outside my bedroom door and continues to tell me she's going to hurt me if I open my door. Laughing saying I have to leave sometime for work and she'll be there when I do. I called my aunt to come help me but she's busy. She is going over there when I get off work to mediate a little.

And that brings me to now.

What the fuck do I do?? I haven't heard back from my work about the apartment I applied for but they took the listing down so I think I might have been approved, but it's not available for move in until August 1st. I'm afraid of living in my own home. Can I get a restraining order? I'm also worried she might end up being able to completely cash out my dad's savings account which we are supposed to split, how can I make sure that doesn't happen?

Shitty painting of the layout of our second story for my apology for this being so long

TL;DR: my sister is a psycho trying to kick my ass and I'm scared of what she might do to me or my cat, what can I do to protect myself?

Cabin rental company botched my reservation, and are now charging me for an extra night, despite me having screenshots of the reservation. Help?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:17 AM PST

    Location: Virginia/Tennessee

I booked a one bedroom cabin through CabinsforYou on February 22 so I could get away with my girlfriend for a weekend. I found a really cheap room, and booked it from March 2-5, and the total was 373.80. After entering my credit card info and all of my details, I submitted the reservation, and got the screen I will post in my comments below. 15~ minutes afterwards, I got an email that had the incorrect dates on it, March 2-4. Thankfully, I still had the original screen open, and I screenshotted it and then contacted them via email immediately. Two days pass. After a phone call asking for the screenshot, I sent it to them. They are now offering that I add the night that went missing for 10% off at $99, except that would put us over our budget. I called them, and they said that they would need for me to prove that the rate was whatever it was when I purchased to give me the night that went missing, and that even thought my bank statement and the screenshot are solid proof (I feel?) that they couldn't refund me unless I found someone to take the cabin for the two nights they have me booked for.

So, help? What steps do I take, if any?

    Here is the screenshot

Condo Corporation threatening legal action due to having a "large breed dog". Please help! (Ontario, Canada)

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:13 AM PST

    I'm in Toronto.

"Dear Owner, We have received several complaints with respect to the "size violation of the dog in your suite. The size of pet in your suite is a total violation of the corporation. This behaviour is contrary to the Declaration and the Rules and Regulations governing the Toronto Standard Condominium Corporation No. 1761. "A dog or a cat (excluding pitbulls, dobermans, mastiffs, rottweilers, and any other similar breeds of dog that are customarily bred or trained as "guard dogs" or "attack dogs") that are sufficiently small in both weight and size such that same can be easily lifted and carried throughout all portions of the common elements by the dog's or cat's owner". The declaration clearly states in Part 6, Section 33, Subsection (a); "no unit shall be occupied or used by an owner, or by anyone else, in such a manner as is likely to damage or insure any person or property (including other units or any portion of the common elements), nor in any manner that will unreasonably interfere with the use or enjoyment by other owners of the common elements or their respective units,[...]" If this aforementioned item is not complied with and future complaints are renewed by March 9, 2018, the Corporation may elect to have this matter turned over to the Corporation Solicitor and any costs incurred by the Corporation in doing so would be charged back to your suite in accordance with the Corporation's Declaration and the Condominium Act, 1998."

This letter was specifically addressed to my unit. I've spoken with another lady in the building with a Mastiff, who's told me that she's spoken to a lawyer and was told that as of April, no condo can legally act due to a pet. I've scoured google and wasn't able to find anything backing up her claim (a few things on renting, which may have been her case. I don't know why she would assume I was in the same position)

I have a 70ish pound yellow lab. I believe labs are defined as medium size, not large. Nor is she listed in their version of what breeds are suitable for guard / attack dogs (..). She's never shown aggression towards a single person in my building. I've always picked up after her when outside. She NEVER barks. There is no reason to complain due to her behaviour! Beyond that, quoting the declaration as if my harmless lab is tearing apart my condo! I'm really not sure which course to take. I've considered contacting a lawyer, but my father is under the impression that I don't have a leg to stand on. Any advice would be MORE than appreciated.

[NH] There is an irrevocable trust in my name, but the trustee will not disburse any funds.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:38 PM PST

I know that there is a trust in my name and that it is worth a significant amount of money (>$100k.) The trust was set up by my late grandfather and a relative is the trustee. I know that the trust instrument is held at a lawyers office and that the money is being held being managed by a financial management company. I have written the lawyer and financial advisor and formally requested the trust instrument and accounting records.

The trustee is not forthcoming with the amount of money in the trust, the rules for me accessing the money, and although I have been told verbally I am entitled to disbursement for the purposes of education (college) or purchasing of a home, the trustee refuses to disburse from the fund when asked multiple times.

I have yet to receive a copy of the trust instrument or accounting records, so I do not know what the "conditions" of the trust are or what the financial amount is. I do not know what the instrument consists of but I do know it is an irrevocable trust. The trustee has told me in writing I will be receiving the trust instrument and accounting records, but I have no evidence he is being truthful.

The financial management agent is not being cooperative and I believe he is scared because he doesn't know what he can and can't reveal. He sent me an email saying he was going to discuss it with the lawyer who maintains the trust instrument prior to releasing information. He seems to be dragging his feet.

The trustee is very wealthy and I do not believe he is attempting to embezzle the funds. I believe it is simply for personal reasons he is trying to keep my money from me (e.g. spite.) On top of this any attempts to obtain information from the trustee gives mixed results. He ether will not say or purposefully lies (e.g. one day it's a $500,000 trust, the next he "can't disburse because there is not enough money to pay for a house.")

Any advice? Is this something that I can handle without hiring a lawyer?

EDIT: I called the local probate courts on the advice of a friend and they do not have a copy of the trust instrument on file. Someone said it was worth a try.

    Delivery damaged our new home

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:27 AM PST

    Illinois

We got a delivery for a sectional sofa on Friday from a chain furniture shop. They came at 8am, and I was upstairs getting ready and my fiancee was going up and down the stairs so not really checking in with the other guys.

After the delivery men left, we also left because I had work at 9am and he stayed over his parent's house throughout the day so we didn't notice the damage until the next day.

It was a pretty good size chunk out of the wall by our door, definitely was not there before and they were our last delivery. We just painted our walls before 2 deliveries and that was the TV and them. The TV delivery were more than capable carrying that and my fiancee was there the entire time so they could not have done it. Considering delivery two just left massive nails lying around our carpet, which we find by almost stepping on them and left their packaging trash and told my fiancee that it's recycling when he asked if they were taking it.

I opened a claim and they reached out after a couple of days. Whoever called us from the customer service said that "his guys didn't do it".The delivery men denied it, ofcourse, but then he offered to send us a $100 check and it sounds shady, but is that usually how this things our resolved?

Tldr: Delivery guys damaged home, denies it, but their boss calls via customer care and offers a $100 check anyway. Sounds shady.

[IN] Can I be rightfully terminated due to an illness that I was in the hospital for and was provided documentation for?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 07:10 AM PST

I work as a server at a restaurant and I have had the flu. I went to the hospital since I don't have insurance and was provided a note to return to work on March 1st since I've been extremely ill. Our restaurants policy clearly states that servers are not to come into work knowingly sick with any airborne illnesses such as the flu due to working in an environment that has food and it could result in us being sued if customers start becoming ill.

I was fired this morning, over the phone, by the restaurant General Manager and he ended up hanging up on me. Not sure if I can sue for wrongful termination since I work in an environment that has strict health codes plus the flu this season has been awful.

What should I do from here?

Employer asking wife to work during maternity leave.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:18 PM PST

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Sorry if not.

My wife is a teacher at a Private School in Louisiana. We're expecting our third child near the end of August, about the time school starts. Her school will pay 100% of her salary for 4 weeks and then weeks 5 & 6 are split between short term disability and her employer.

My wife would also like to use FMLA to take off an additional 6 weeks unpaid, but she will keep her benefits and is guaranteed her job when she returns.

The problem is, her school is telling her that she will have to create lesson plans for the substitute as well as grade class work, projects and tests while she is out. Is this legal since only 6 weeks of her time is technically covered under FMLA?

Employer says I have to quit - they won't terminate me. Is this legal? (Situation explained)

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:18 PM PST

My department is moving to a different location (1 hour away), and I am choosing not to move to the new location. I'm currently already commuting 1 hour each way, so this would make it 2 hours there and 2 hours back for a total of 4 hours of commuting per day.

I have told them to terminate me, but they are saying that since the move is temporary (they're saying its for ~8 months but probably more), they cannot terminate me and I have to quit on my own accord.

I want to be terminated to be eligible for unemployment. Is it legal for them to force me to quit and refuse to terminate me (on good terms) on the grounds of our move being "temporary"?

Furthermore, they're saying if I don't quit they will be forced to terminate me under "bad terms" and it will hinder/look bad on future job prospects. How true is this? Would this be a real problem for me?

Please advise, I highly appreciate it.

    Edit: I am in California.

Consumer Credit line trying to tag me with hundreds in interest that I do not owe under original agreement. What else can I do?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:05 AM PST

About 11 months ago, I purchased a piece of expensive equipment via a website… They had a promotion "12 months no interest", with the requirement that you open a consumer credit line. I did this and was instantly approved for the purchase price. Completed the purchase.

Oddly, I didn't receive a statement for several months. I called in about this and the company said: "sometimes it just takes a while."

Fast forward to about six months later, I receive a statement. It's got a purchase date that is six months ahead of when we actually purchased this. They also tacked on 29.9% interest PER MONTH and have done so every month since. They say I owe hundreds in interest .

For the past several months, I have been trying to remedy this issue. The equipment manufacturer has verified that I purchased this under a promotion and don't owe anything in interest. (I have email documentation proving this.)

The consumer credit line had originally agreed to take the interest off, but now they won't and they have stopped communicating with me completely. So has the equipment company.

I currently have a BBB complaint going. I don't see this going anywhere with them. (This business is accredited though)

My Question is – do I file this complaint with the attorney general in my home state, or the state where this consumer credit line is located? .

The verification that I have that I do not owe this interest under the promotion is an email directly from the equipment company where I purchased this. (Credit place originally said this is all they needed to take the interest off, then they changed their mind and now refuse to talk with me at all...total avoidance.)

Thank you for any advice you may be able to give.

[Fl] Can landlord take pictures of my belongings to post online?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:40 PM PST

Well I'm fucking back with another fucking shitty landlord issue. I thought our stress would be over since we decided to break our lease and leave in (now less than) 90 days after the last incident where he freaked the fuck out for no reason.

Anyway, he wants to list the townhouse online now, while we're still here. That's fine. But he suddenly wants to come in and take pictures of the inside, including all our belongings, to post on several websites. SO and I are super uncomfortable with this and not sure if it's normal. Do we legally have to let him take pictures of our personal belongings? He wants pictures of the insides of our closests, inside of our cabinets, medicine cabinet, everything. We really like our privacy and this just creeps me out. I've been looking at listings for places all week and not a single one has pictures of someone else's stuff. Most of them were bare bones empty, except for the college kid places that have a show apartment with staged furniture and pictures.

So ready to be done with this asshole. Any advice is welcome. I probably just have to suck it up and have my privacy invaded. Fuck me, right??

EDIT, PLEASE READ: We live in the ghetto and break in's happen a lot around here. We have a big 60" Smart TV, a few different game counsels, two expensive laptops and a hand built computer tower. If these items are put online with the address we would fear for not only the safely of our belongings, but ourselves as well. THIS IS WHY we are uncomfortable. We have 2 and a half months left here, I don't want to risk a break in.

Cease and Desist from former employer (Ohio)

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 11:26 AM PST

Long story short - I started a job with a new company in first week of January. Low level management.

About two weeks ago they started laying off employees, the company went from 15-17 employees to approximately 8. One guy who had been laid off had just started in November, one girl who had been laid off had only been there for about 2 weeks. Others had beent here for longer, but it was widespread, relatively speaking. Also one VP was demoted to project manager. At least two of these people he fired via voicemail, not even speaking to them directly.

Right about this time the owner became more active in daily operations. I was instructed to fire the 65 year old man I had just hired 3 weeks ago for no reason other than the owner thought we didn't need him. At that point I made the decision to resign, I didn't feel secure, and I felt that there must have been a serious cash flow issue behind the string of firings and layoffs. My position was primarily working from home, so when I went into the office on Friday to let my employee go, I took in my equipment and resigned, emailed the owner to let him know. I left all my company property there. In my email to the owner I told him I felt that my position was not secure, the company was not stable, and that I objected to the hiring/firing of people in such short periods of time and without good cause.

Prior to leaving I called my direct supervisor to let her know personally that I had resigned, and she told me she was actually submitting her 2 week notice that same day. I turns out the VP/Project Manager had also submitted her notice. This wasn't a coordinated or planned sabotage, but I can see how it would seem to be. My direct supervisor emailed me the following day and told me she had seen emails from the owner (logged in our company software on the main dashboard, in a very public spot accessible by anyone with access to the software) talking about terminating her and saying derogatory things about other employees, and she revoked her 2 weeks notice and resigned effective immediately.

I have had no further contact with the owner, nor have I accessed any company issued devices or software, and I haven't had any correspondence with any business affiliates or customers.

Today I got a Cease and Desist, saying if I continue to disrupt their business, contact any of their business contacts, divulge any confidential information etc they will take legal action. They've also engaged a forensics computer expert to make sure I wasn't downloading/sharing anything I wasn't supposed to. It also instructs me not to reformat my home computer, which I also wasn't intending to do but it's still annoying. My former direct supervisor and the VP/Project Manager also got the same letter.

They encourage me or my attorney to contact them and it closes with "I will expect confirmation by March 2, 2018 from either you or your attorney, that you have no further XXXXXX information, property, and/or documents, electronic or otherwise and that you are complying and had complied with state and federal law in relation to your computer access and your contact with XXXXX employees, customers, and suppliers"

Do I need to respond to this? Do I need to talk to a lawyer?

I guess in a way I get why the owner thinks this was a planned thing because we all quit on the same day. But nobody's out to get his business, he was treating people like shit so we bailed.
