Best short ideas at the moment? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 01:44 PM PST Given that almost every market is rising at the moment... How are you going about finding short ideas, and what are some of your best ones? [link] [comments] |
Wanna hear about your first short position in your investment journey. Keen to share ? Posted: 27 Jan 2018 12:28 AM PST if you could share how you come up with your first short and how did your execute your position? Like short selling, buying puts or CFDs? I finished reading "the art of short selling" and read up some shorts idea around. But I wanna hear someone could share their experience. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 11:20 PM PST Does anyone have any experience with obtaining financials for companies that have gone dark? How do you obtain financials for a dark company? Also, are you guys seeing any big pockets of dislocation. I'm quite surprised at the level of market efficiency displayed in even micro / nano securities. Even there arb spreads are 2-3% and companies have decent multiples not far off their larger company peers. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 12:18 PM PST Although value investing is very much a bottom up approach and prevaling/forecasted economic sentiment is not the focus of the investment, I was curious if anyone here ever generates top down analysis as a supplement to their investment thesis? Or even setting price targets for when the business is commodity based (oil, copper etc.). Obviously there are sell side reports, but if you wanted to do it on your own where would you look and how would you go about doing so? Any good resources? [link] [comments] |
Tool for dissecting return into earnings growth vs multiple expansion? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 07:40 AM PST Is there a tool or resource I can look into that would show how much of a stock's return over the past X period was due to forward multiple change vs changes in forward earnings estimates? Another way of asking this is, is there a free site to look up historical fwd earnings estimates? [link] [comments] |
Did we ever find out why the market sold off 10% in Jan 2016? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 11:58 AM PST I believe the earnings season had gotten off to a solid start just like this year, but the market still sold off 10% ish in Jan 2016. Has anyone seen any thoughtful analysis(es) of what prompted the sell-off? [link] [comments] |
