How do you all feel about stocks related to marijuana companies?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 04:53 AM PST

How do you all feel about stocks related to marijuana companies? I've heard I shouldnt invest in the companies themselves but rather in the companies that produce growing tech and apparatuses and chemicals, like miraclegro. I imagine there will be a boom in the need for these hints in the next decade or sooner.

What do people think of WMT Walmart?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 08:47 AM PST

Low prices will always attract customers, whether it's a boom or a recession. They have good delivery networks. They are investing heavily into online sales. Offline sales still comprise of a huge majority of sales in general. Walmart expanding more so in the international markets.

Any downsides to buying this stock now at around $108?

Everybody, RELAX about the markets dropping today. It's all State of the Union jitters.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:24 AM PST

Nobody knows what Trump is going to say, so all the big players are taking their profits now. Unless he says the US is going to nuke someone, we'll be back to green in a day or two.

This is standard market behavior, the Bull-Market we've been in has made us all soft!!

How much more do you think DOW, NASDAQ and S&P 500 will dip?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 10:33 AM PST

Do you guys think this dip will continue even further tomorrow?

In my opinion, the news Amazon released about cheaper health care is driving down DOW quite heavily and tomorrow we will probably see DOW, NASDAQ and the S&P 500 remain stable (+-0.15%)

What if a majority shareholder decided to take a company private and paid zero dollars per share to buy out all the other share holders?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2018 06:29 PM PST

I recently owned stock in a company that got a buy out offer by another, pending shareholder approval, and it got me thinking...

Let's say Gordon Gekko slowly acquires shares of a given public company until he owns over 50% of the shares. If Mr. Gekko wanted to take the company private and really felt like an A-hole, what's to prevent himself from voting with all his shares to buy out all other minority shareholders for zero dollars? What mechanisms are in place to prevent this sort of thing? None of the other shareholders could muster the votes against it, since Mr. Gekko owns over 50% of the company.

    Short sell strategies?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:30 AM PST

I was thinking about it, wondering about companies that usually loose values after a certain kind of momentum or news. The ideal would be research to find companies failing strategies, finding before the market notice and before the news talk about. Basicly meaning pearciving that a company may loose money or using a short term gain strategy that usually leads to long term losses because of greedy and so.

I don't think SHOP has any of the description above but its revenue is very low with a lot of investors putting money in it. So I wonder if during a economical recession its shares will be among the ones that will rapidly fall and deeper that shares from companies with more cash.
