For me it was the "picks and shovels" concept. It's worked out pretty good for me so far.

What advice would you pass on to someone looking to get started?

If 2018's the year of cryptocurrencies, will stocks be cheaper?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 02:54 PM PST

It seems like investing into cryptocurrencies is the new hottest thing in the investment community. It makes me wonder, will people be selling off their stocks in order to fund their crypto wallets? What do you guys think? Could make 2018 a very good year to load up on good stocks.

Why would a person/entity keep a share price from exceeding a certain amount?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 01:02 PM PST

I've been watching $MYSZ for the last hour or so (3pm to 4pm) and whenever the price gets close to .77 a large ask size pops up for that amount. It eventually broke through but obviously there was an attempt to keep it down. Can anyone explain why that might happen?

The S&P 500 Will Gain More Than 5% In 2018

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 07:13 AM PST

A few top analysts posted forecasts for 2018. Their year-end targets for the S&P 500 ranged from around 2750 to just over 3000. A 5% gain from here would put the S&P 500 at around 2800. Do you think the benchmark finishes 2018 above this mark?

Thinking about investing and using margin but I have questions!

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 05:40 AM PST

So I have dabbled in stock trading off and on but have been out of it for years, anyway, every year for the last several years I kept telling myself that no way the market will keep going higher and a crash will happen, well I've been wrong and the market has just gone up!

So I decided now is the time, especially with tax reform set to boost stocks and I'm finally ready to invest. So here are my questions..

I'm going to invest $5,250.00, BUT I'm thinking about using margin so I can invest $10,500.

The interest rate on the margin loan is 8.5% which is $446.00 per year, the dividends paid out from the stocks I want are $490.00 per year.

Can I just use dividends to pay the interest on the margin loan?

Also, is margin a good idea? It seems like if investors used margin the last decade they would have made a ton of money!

Also, I'm wanting to invest long term and as long as the dividends keep paying the margin interest, I can use margin to hold stocks long term Right?

Fyi, I'm going to be smart and invest in good, great tech companies. I'm looking to take positions in INTC, AAPL, FB, AMZN and MSFT using margin.

    Thoughts?
