Sales LPT: When dining with a client, make sure you factor in their physical size before choosing booth over table.

Learned this the hard way last night. I chose a booth and the client couldn't fit. It was embarrassing to have to return to the hostess and ask for a table instead. If there is doubt about anyone fitting, ask for a table.

    Finding leads for a factory

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 06:08 AM PST

I'm trying to help my family factory find some leads outside the country (export), the factory focuses on package production , paper production , flexographic printing services . I started looking at yellow pages and surfing the net to find companies who might be intrested in our services in the area . I tried looking at food related companies like : Meat , Fish , Frozen food , Supplements , sugar , wheat , salt , bakeries , etc... I feel like the contact information those companies post on their site isn't usefull to me because it's aimed for their costumers and not business inquaries . Any help , reading material , tips , tricks would be really appreciated !

What impact might GDPR have on Enterprise Sales teams and data providers?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 09:03 AM PST

I'm interested to hear the views of others on how GDPR will likely impact on their business. Will it for example force you to change how you prospect for business, how you buy data (or not, if this is an impact) and anything else that might be of relevance here.

I know that the typical sales team will have a load of 'data' that is technically unusable from sources they have acquired without opt-ins being ticked by the people stored on those databases...

    Commission only

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 03:14 AM PST

We want to hire a commission only sales person. Will this work?

Are sales people looking for base salaries?

The commission structure will be higher and recurring for monthly sales on certain products and services.

Also they will be able to hire someone under them and make commission off their sales who they manage.

It will be a remote only position 1099.

Does this seem like it's doable.

Update: We are a service company Graphic design Digital marketing Printing Direct mail

    Thanks for the feedback.

[Advice] Selling a disruptive solution to a traditionalist market

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 10:49 AM PST

    Hello all,

I am hoping to get some advice. I am an SDR manager for a Saas company in NYC. I am selling into an industry that is extremely slow to change and is resistant to technology for the most part. Think: Opposite of the tech vertical.

Long story short here is my issue

    • We know we have a good product, one of the best in the space
    • We know that their is a need
    • All of the data and feedback from internal industry reporting indicates that they are keenly aware of the need for our solution, and are frustrated by the pain points our solution solves.
    • The regulatory body for the industry has been pushing for more adoption of our solution.

    But....

We are calling into accounts that ~80% of the time refuse to engage in a conversation with my reps

Anyone have any advice on how to have business oriented conversations with prospects that feel that they are above being just a businessperson?

I have a few new guys and it's beginning to frustrate them how unwilling these people are to at least have a conversation.

Has anyone here opened a foreign office for their company?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 10:18 AM PST

My company is most likely going to be opening an office in Sydney this time next year. We opened EMEA last year and it's been a great success thus far.

My concern: I'm going to be building pipe for a new role all of 2018. I'm afraid of building pipe, then leaving it all behind and doing the same thing in Asia for a year or two.

Does anyone have any experience here? Did you find the life experience worth the dip in W2? Opportunity cost is ~3 years of being in an enterprise sales rep in Saas.

Any advice for managing a D2D sales team?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 08:36 PM PST

So I work for a company that does Door to Door sales for a fruit and veg company. My manager left this year and I took his role but I've become overwealmed because I'm lacking in confidence. I started doing D2D to get out of my shell a bit, but I've always been a bit socially awkward.

I have to give pep talks and also drive the team out to turf but I'm not sure how to pump them up and get them excited about making some sales, I play some loud banging music on the way but I'm screaming internally that I need to be talking more.

I feel like the energy we had last year is gone a bit, we lost half our team over the holidays and it's very quiet.

Does anyone have any advice for keeping everyone entertained and motivated?

    Thanks

Sales Coaches - how did you get started?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 08:09 AM PST

Hi - as per the title, I'm really interested to hear how any Sales Coaches got started. I've been an enterprise salesperson for a number of years and help/advise startups, friends and owners on an ad-hoc basis but want to do this more full-time.

If you're aware of any good sales coaches please could you kindly share links to websites, articles, etc. ?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Been asked to set my own quota for 2018.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 11:28 PM PST

I work for a small company, and it's a great job. I've been with them for 2 years, and the bonus model has changed with every year. I have made good money. This morning I got a surprise in my inbox. We have all been asked to set our own quotas for 2018. It's certainly nothing I've ever experienced before, and I'm ambivalent about it. On one side, great, right? On the other side, having a set goal and achieving it is kind of what I enjoy about sales. What would you do?

    Recruiting or Outside Sales problem

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 06:27 AM PST

Hello everyone, first off, I've been using this sub for information on getting into the sales world for a few months, so thank you all for the information.

I graduated last May with a BS in biology working jobs in other industries until recent. Ive wanted to get into medical device sales since I've graduated but every place I've applied has said I need some sales experience. I recently landed a job as a recruiter with a very well known recruiting company (it was one of the best and admittedly first offers I received when searching). It's been just over a month at this company and I don't mind it, hours are long but that doesn't bother me.

The problem is that I received an offer with ADP as an outside sales representative. My question is given my long term goals of breaking into medical devices, what works as a better entry level job for gaining the proper and preferred experience for the medical sales world? Again, thank you all for the information, any and all feedback is welcomed!

If you had to put together a short presentation to sell a digital campaign to a client, what would you include in the presentation?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2018 06:12 AM PST

Specifically if it was, for example, a twitter campaign. What would be your main 5 or 6 points?

    5 years

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 08:35 PM PST

Beginning as a BDC, whats a typical 5 year progression in saas sales in terms of position and salary?

Is 30 years old too old to enter? I work with a lot of people in their early 20s, sometimes it makes me question if its worth it. Thanks for insight.

Has anyone ever worked for a Point-of-Sale "Payment Solutions" type company?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:52 PM PST

I'm in between jobs right now and need some income. There are always POS system jobs posted. They're commission based. Has anyone tried these? Are they just a "dime a dozen"? Is it a tough sell for businesses?

    Anyone work in mattress sales?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:34 PM PST

Does anyone on this sub work in mattress sales? I have a few questions on mattresses since being surprised by the cost, lol. Specifically someone that sells tempurpedic or could steer me to a comparable mattress. The markup online is so ridiculously high it's hard for me to tell if I'm getting a good deal or not on a Tempurpedic Supreme Flex Breeze.

    Companies open enrollment?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 02:26 PM PST

Does anyone know of a list or a company that provide a list of private companies (sizes 100-1000) open enrollment period? I have a background in HR and we are starting an employee perks program and we think knowing their open enrollment time is huge because that is when most companies would look at that. (Willing to pay a company if necessary) Thanks y'all!

BDR Interview, told I will meet an Account Exec during - what questions should you ask them?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 01:10 PM PST

Of course the answer is to be naturally curious and take genuine interest, but I'm wondering if there's anything in particular that would go down well?

Perhaps if you're an account executive and have had an interviewee ask you questions before? What went down really well?
