    Getting a Rental Car Insurance

    Getting a Rental Car Insurance

    Getting a Rental Car

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:40 PM PST

I'm a college student, and was in a pretty bad accident today (not my fault, and the other driver took full responsibility) that left my car undrivable. I went through all the necessary stuff, filed a police report, called my insurance company (State Farm), exchanged contact info with the girl who hit me, etc.

I'm 20, so I can't just go to a rental car place and get a car, even if I could pay for it out of pocket. Apparently after the police report is ready and once her insurance has filed the claim and sets me up an appointment, I can go get a car (even though I'm under age).

However, from what I've heard, these things take a really long time, and the cop told me the report wouldn't even be ready until Monday. I've also been warned that some insurance companies drag their feet on things like this. So now on top of being banged up from the accident, I'm without a car for the foreseeable future. I live off-campus and drive to both class and work, and I really don't know how long I can make it bumming rides from friends. There's no public transportation in my area, not even Uber. I really need a car.

Do I have any options at all here?

    Problems with AllState

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:23 PM PST

Involved in a wreck this past tuesday. Car jumped median and hit me in the side. Individual was cited for driving without a license and for negligent driving.

Went to the hospital for x-rays, I'm fine overall. Went to Chiropractor today and will be reviewing more x-rays tomorrow.

However, Its only been two days and I've already had like 2 attorneys reach out to me. Each saying that'd I want an attorney since the other side has allstate.

Anyone know the reasons. I've been reading online that they're stingy. Maybe this is just because the lawyer reaching out think this is an easy case?

Car Accident with Liability only (help)

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 10:38 PM PST

I was in an accident today that pretty much totaled my 2003 GMC Envoy with 190,000 miles on it worth maybe $3,000 (why I only had liability). I am fine, no medical issues.

Should i report this to auto insurance? Or let it go like it never happened? I'm just worried if I do report it in good faith my insurance might go up even though they wouldn't have to pay out. Or...just find the right route to dispose of the car and move on?

No other cars involved and no damage to property. I swerved from another car too hard and went straight into a concrete median at 65 mph and spun till I stopped. I'm lucky with no injuries, thank god. But looking at next best options for dealing with this.

    I'm in California.

    Thanks in advance.

Hit and run driver left car and took their license plate. Question about uninsured coverage.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 10:34 PM PST

Someone hit my parked car and walked off but left their car with no license plate next to my car. Police came. Checked vin. Not in system. Probably stolen. Most likely never gonna find them. I checked my ny allstate insurance policy and I have (SUM) supplementary uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage with "not applicable" deductible. When i called to file a claim. They wanted me to use my collision coverage to pay for damages but that has 1000 deductible. What can i do. Am i screwed out of possible 1k or do i have a case to get SUM coverage to pay for it. I mean whats the point of SUM coverage if it doesnt cover case like this.

Ok so I have a crazy car situation right now and I am not sure how to proceed. I have five cars total to insure. One is a car that I do not drive, is financed, but I will like to keep. Reason I don't drive it is because it is a sports car and right now my work situation requires me to have a truck.

Ok so I have a crazy car situation right now and I am not sure how to proceed. I have five cars total to insure. One is a car that I do not drive, is financed, but I will like to keep. Reason I don't drive it is because it is a sports car and right now my work situation requires me to have a truck. I wanted to maybe non op it so I don't have to pay registration but I am not sure how that will affect insurance since the car is financed. Ideally I'd want to not insure it at all since I don't need to drive it and I'd rather save the money than drive it like 5 times a year. the other 4 cars are daily drivers and one is driven by my brother who has only been licensed for 6 months. It is a 2017 chevy cruze. All my other cars on my policy are fairly new, and on leases. How would I best go about insuring these vehicles to save money? Also, someone told me I can't have seperate insurance policies for diffferent cars and they all have to be under the same company. Is that true? I know some companies could possibly give me cheaper insurance on the sports car if I NEED to insure but my current company gives me good rates on my other cars.

Rental car insurance from Chase Sapphire Preferred

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 07:09 PM PST

I am renting a car from Enterprise (San Jose). Yesterday I went to Fry's electronics and when returning to the parking lot, noticed that there is small scratch on the front bumper right side. I had declined Enterprise DW and Liability Insurance. I have chase Sapphire Preferred credit card and just got to know that Chase covers damage waiver as primary insurance. I haven't gotten a chance to visit Enterprise yet. How easy to get/claim the coverage from Chase? Anyone has any experiences? I read Enterprise's scratch measurement guidelines and it seems the scratch I got may not be considered as liable to pay. Its just 3.5".

dental insurance issues for a pregnant lady that got a root canal retreated

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 12:16 PM PST

TLDR - had a slightly unusual root canal re treatment procedure due to being pregnant and endodontist couldn't find the perfect code. They only paid for some of it. Sent many appeals through advice of dentist and the insurance and after a year they decided to withdrawal the portion they already paid.

December 2016, 3 months pregnant and a tooth 19 which had a root canal 5 years previous started acting up. An xray revealed an abscess. They didn't want to do the 360 panorama xrays because of the pregnancy so dentist and endodontist talked and decided the safest procedure would be to pull the tooth, retreat the canals, and then reinsert the tooth. It sounds crazy but it went smoothly and as of a year it's still holding up great.

So then the billing part. Code D3430 for the retrograde filling. And code D3470 for the re implantation. Code D3430 was paid to 80% but 3470 was rejected because the code only applies to anterior teeth. I call up the insurance and they explain that since the code isn't perfect we should submit an appeal with an explanation and keep appealing until they cover it. Annoying but I'm willing to do that. So appeals happen all spring. Then I have my baby and forget about it for 6 months because I had a fricken baby.

I return to it in December. At this point the endodontist is getting frustrated and the dentist is advising me to keep good record to go to the insurance commissioner if needed. I just got a letter a week ago now starting that the ealier code is not a covered dental expense and that all of the money is owed back now. They are claiming that procedure d0220 is not a covered dental expense (xray) and that since I got that and it was integral to procedure d3430, benefits are not separately payable.

I'm now so lost for what I should do. It feels like they were dragging their feet about paying the other part and out of spite from all the appeals they decided to pay even less. Root canal re-treatments are covered in my plans. So what is going on and does anyone know what I can do about it? X-posted to dentistry

    International health insurance with hypertension?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 05:18 PM PST

tl;dr: options for international (ex. USA) health insurance for a ~40yo overweight man with diagnosed hypertension. Currently blood pressure and all blood results are within limits, but requires taking everyday pills. Can cover outpatient on my own, wanting comprehensive inpatient/hospital coverage for any major issues. Don't mind waiting periods, deductibles or co-pays.

What are my options for international (Asia or EMEA or worldwide excluding USA) health insurance which would cover my hypertension in a reasonable way? I can cover outpatient cost of managing the condition, but I'd like to be covered for inpatient/hospital care in case of a heart disease or a stroke, etc.

I'm thinking long term here, I don't mind a waiting period before coverage for hypertension-related diseases will start working.

My hypertension has been regulated for three years (since it was diagnosed). I take a pill every day and my blood pressure is within limits. Also, my blood results have been within limits for a year (high cholesterol previously).

In case it matters: I'm European, man, almost 40, overweight, relocating to a developed Asian country, but possibly relocating to another country after some years (which makes me thinking about international insurance, as my options for an entirely new plan will only be narrower and more expensive as I'll be getting older).

I'm looking for relatively high limits, which would cover any major illness in an expensive but non-US country (thinking at least $1M, preferably $2M per year). I don't mind co-pays or deductibles as long as I'm covered for any major issue.

What are my options here? How insurance companies treat chronic conditions like hypertension? If they treat it as a pre-existing condition, then I couldn't find anything suitable (I found a plan which would start covering pre-existing conditions after two trouble-free years; the problem is they define trouble-free as not requiring doctor consultations and without taking any pills, which I do require).

What companies or plans would be recommended to get a reasonable coverage? Thank you!

    claims adjuster trainee flunked interview

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:34 PM PST

Alright, I flunked the Progressive phone interview for the claims adjuster trainee position. I was well, I thought I was prepared for the STAR question but nope I wasn't (I could even tell I was flunking it during the interview). This was the first interview of this type that I've had and I knew why I flunked it. But I really want to a claims adjuster. Does someone know if and when I can reapply for it again or something like that with Progressive? As in, do they wipe out my "flunked" interview and reconsider me for it?

Confused about eligibility for event insurance for my pro wrestling event[WV]

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:15 PM PST

I started my pro wrestling company in October of last year. Our first event is in April. I am struggling to find event insurance to cover the show (it is required by our venue, no less than a $1 million policy).

Here's my confusion: In the state of WV, owners of pro wrestling companies are not required to have a promoter's license; for instance, my company is a sole proprietorship under the entertainment category.

The insurance I've looked into says that "promoters" are exluded from eligibility. That said, since I'm not required to hold a promoter's license, does that mean I could technically purchase coverage for my show?

Shopping for auto insurance to cheaper question

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:38 PM PST

My wife and I are on Geico together as my wife the primary. She was involved in a accident 2 years that resolved as her fault. Since then our insurance rate has gone way up, and now I'm trying to find a better rate. My question is, would it be beneficial to shop for better rates with myself being the primary driver? Does it even matter since I will have her added as a driver, with her accident record? I have no clue on shopping for auto insurance and want to see what are my best options.

I’ve totaled 2 vehicles in the past year. I’m 20. I want to negotiate the insurance company for lower rates.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 09:52 AM PST

So as the title says I've totaled two vehicles in the past year. One last may and one last Saturday. I'm 20 and I am still on my parents coverage because it's cheaper but I know this will increase due to my wrecks. If I contact the insurance agent and plea on the grounds of taking defensive driving course is there a possibility of them lowering the rates? And our insurance is from Oklahoma, and I just moved to Indiana, while parents are still in OK

    Thanks ahead for any advice!

Hit While Parked By Apartment Golf Cart

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:05 PM PST

Yesterday my vehicle was hit by a golf cart. I came outside to find my property manager waiting by my vehicle. She got my information from me and informed me that another resident had hit one of their golf carts which in turn caused that cart to hit my car scratching paint off. I was given the number for the police report that was filed and was told I need to file a claim with my insurance.

I went to talk to my apartment complex today to get more information, specifically regarding the car that hit their cart and the number of who it was. Unfortunately I was told that they could not provide me that information. After speaking with my girlfriend today, whom was kind enough to go out and start warming up my car yesterday while I was in shower, she informed me that the gold cart was still there behind my vehicle with apartment staff standing there. She told me that they did not say anything to her at the time.

I am worried that something is being left out by my apartment complex and do not want to be stuck paying to repair the damage to my vehicle. Any guidance or advice would be very much appreciated.

Question about SR-22. Incident in CO while I live in a different state.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 11:30 AM PST

So I ended up driving without insurance in CO on my way back home. Had no idea my insurance was lapsed, but it happened and I own up to it. Ended up having my License taken away because of it and I had to get insurance. I got Insurance in Michigan but the incident was in Colorado. I purchased insurance and had to order a brand new license.

Go to now and my car is not working and I won't have the money to repair it for at least 2 months so I decided to cancel my insurance. I was told as soon as I cancel it, my license will be suspended as well and become invalid.

The question here is, what is the best course of action ? Although the incident was in a different state, am I still required to have SR22 insurance even if I do not own a car ?

Picked a bad health insurance plan, can I switch it if it’s still open enrollment, and does being on Medicaid affect that?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 10:53 AM PST

I live in New York and I'm on Medicaid. I recently learned that my manager care provider, Fidelis, does not cover reproductive care—including birth control pills.

I know there's some way I can get coverage through the state (I think by going to certain doctors?) but it's not entirely clear to me how I do that and quite frankly seems like a lot of work. New York has open enrollment through January 31st; can I still change providers, or am I stuck until the next open or special enrollment period/I get a job/get married?

Parking lot accident. Other driver may be lying to insurance. What should I do?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 04:15 AM PST

The other day I was pulling into a parking space slowly. This parking lot had narrow spaces so there wasn't much room between cars. As my car is about halfway into the spot the vehicle to my right quickly opens her door as my car was right behind the door. I saw it coming out and braked but it was too late as I had less than a second to react. My front bumper/right headlight collided with the door and did damage to my bumper and broke my headlight. Her vehicle has no damages. I called the police and the officer said he wasn't going to file a report for the minor private parking lot accident. I filed a claim with her insurance company but it sounds like she may be denying the truth or that they are helping her possibly. She apparently claimed that her door was already opened and I ran into it while she was reaching for her purse. This was definitely not the case as I clearly saw the door coming quickly out right in front of me. It wouldn't make sense for me to drive into a door that was already opened, considering that the spaces were narrow and I had to carefully watch and slowly park to make sure I was centered between both vehicles while parking. It's possible that her insurance may do 50/50 for liability but I feel she's 100% at fault. This is in Arizona and there's a law that states that drivers cannot open their doors unless it's safe to do so. I mentioned this to her insurance but they stated that it doesn't apply to parking lots which I see nowhere in the law. I'm considering also filing a claim through my insurance but I'm not sure if that would help. I did talk to my insurance after finding that she denied the facts but didn't officially file a claim with my insurance yet. I have a deductible of 1k and the damages would probably be a new bumper, paint and headlight. What are my options at this point?

    Wisdom teeth coverage

    Posted: 25 Jan 2018 07:24 AM PST

Hi, I am in a situation that I'm not sure what I should do with my insurance. I'm an international student attending a US college. So I'm not familiar with how the insurance works here. But I think what happened to me is not right. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I'm a college student with the student health insurance carried by Aetna. I need to extract my wisdom teeth and it is covered by the insurance. However, there is no oral surgeon in my area would accept the insurance. (No oral surgeon in their network.) The closest provider near me is over 120 miles away in a different city. If I'm seeing an oral surgeon here, then I have to pay the deductible for out of network which is 1000. I don't think this is right. I even met the guy from the insurance on campus to help me find a provider. But in the end he couldn't find anyone and suggested me to buy additional dental plan. I'm not sure if this is right or even legal that the coverage is actually none while they write the coverage in their policy. Especially considering it is a student health plan and most of the people at my age may need to remove their wisdom teeth and this is a very common procedure.

I bought the additional dental insurance just in case but I really didn't feel comfortable paying for it since my health insurance should already cover it.

    Car Accident

    Posted: 24 Jan 2018 09:32 PM PST

I was recently in a minor car accident, where only my front grill was damages. I wanted to have the minor repairs taken care of without having to go through insurance, so I was wondering if I pay for repairs with cash will my insurance know. The vehicle is leased, so if I do get it repaired and pay with cash will the car company know.

    Thank you !
