Creative business inputs wanted Posted: 10 Jan 2018 08:31 PM PST Hi all creative minds I have a challenge in my small business I am running, where I need some inspirations towards overcome it. The business is within giftware wholesaling in New Zealand. The process function by my business partner, HP, attends to different product fairs in China, where Chinese traders, manufactures etc. present their products at booths. HP carries a notebook where he 1) writes down what product category the desired product he found belongs to. Subsequently he also adds in if the product can be a future design object for later seasons or i.e. While HP notes down these details in his notebook, his assistant takes pictures of both the booth keeping company business card and the desired product. Later on he arrives back to the office, where a coworker, Q receives the bunch of notebooks and SD card with all the appurtenant photos. Next up, is that the Q has to open the notebook and identify the first product the HP has written down at the fair and also find the appurtenant photos on the SD card. Subsequently Q has to find supplier folder, and copy the pictures into these folders. Additionally if the notebook says, the product also is to be a later design object, Q then have to file in the same pictures to the development folder. Both folders are visible in the company's database. This is a very old fashioned way of doing things and we have experienced cons such as: - Time consuming - Risk for missing photos the assistant might have missed at the fairs. - Interpretation of the handwritings in the notebooks - Risk of losing the notebooks Regarding the notebook, there have been initiated talking about digitalize the process, by the HP brings an Ipad or similar to the each booth, takes pictures with it and notes down information's about the desired product. But this was down voted as the HP meant it still took too much time in total, especially the typing. There must be a way of streamlining this way of conducting the process, maybe some kind of a program or like that? [link] [comments] |
