    Country's flag hoodies

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:39 PM PST

    Hey guys!

Me and my friend came up with an idea yesterday at the gym. We are a small nation and alike many others in Europe right now our nation is celebrating 100th birthday pretty soon. I have travelled quite a lot and our country is pretty patriotic. So we started thinking how to make money with that. We came up with and idea to make hoodies that have our flag on it. Not just on chest but full size flag. We have been trying to find how to do it, because three color hoodies are not that common. I wouldn't think it would make sense to screen print it, but rather have someone make them. I thought that some people in this subreddit might have expertise how it would make most sense to do it. Our plan right now is to make around 500-1000 of them and try to sell them through different social media and brick and mortal stores.

The hoodies would be something along the lines of this, but with different colors of course: goo.gl/ogEPrs

    Thanks guys, you are amazing!

Having a hard time getting approved for a loan I know I can afford, what should I do?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 09:49 PM PST

I should preface this by noting that have no higher education on running a business. I'm just a guy who's trying to turn his hobby-passion into a full business.

I own a small concert production company. Basically, we do lighting and sound for live music events up to about 2000-5000 people. Currently, we rent a lot of equipment, which costs us about $1000-1500 per month this past year and will only cost us more next year as we continue to grow. Using some online equipment financing loan calculators, I figure those monthly payments are reasonable given that I can be approved for a long enough term.

Logically, I would like to reallocate that monthly rental budget into a bank loan. I need between $70-130k in order to make enough of a difference in rental expenses so that I can afford the $1000-1500 monthly loan payment.

The overall problem is that we've gotten into a bit of a rut where we're having a hard time growing financially because the more work we do, simply, the more we have to rent. Therefore, our profit hasn't really gone up over the past 2.5 years since starting because as our income increases our rental expense equally increases. If we could get a loan, then from this point forward any growth would actually equal more profit, not just more income.

The core problem, my bank won't approve the loan we need because of our low profit, aka, they think we can't afford it. Their application process is very automated and calculated, so I can't find a way to convey to them that I can afford it.

To cut to the point, what should I do & who should I talk to in order to convey that I actually can afford the loan I need? I'm open to moving beyond my bank, I just need a loan.

TL;DR: My bank won't approve a loan that I know I can afford, what should I do?

Is email marketing the most effective strategy to increase customer lifetime value?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 03:50 PM PST

I have written a blog post about why I think email marketing is one of the most effective strategies to increase a company's lifetime value (https://sleeknote.com/blog/customer-lifetime-value)

But this is not something I want to share with you to be self-promoting. I want to hear your thoughts about customer lifetime value and which techniques you are using in your company. Maybe we could help each other to improve?

Best name for a residential cleaning business?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:55 PM PST

I basically just want to have enough houses to make at least $500 per week. Nothing too crazy. I just want to be able to work part time and make good money doing so.

What would be the best way to market this? Also anyone got any decent name ideas?

Interviews for My Career Development Course

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:00 PM PST

Hi Y'all! I wanna start with how I frequent this sub often to gain new insight on entrepreneurship and love what some of you guys are doing. I am currently in college and am enrolled in a career development class devoted towards helping students decide what they want to do as their career. I have known that I want to be an entrepreneur since I was 16 while working closely with my boss at my first job. I am only enrolled in this class because it is a requirement for my major. I have successfully started a business in the past that was later sold to an external party.

For my career development class, I am required to interview some people that work in the industry I am most interested in. In my and probably most of your opinions, entrepreneurship is its own industry. It does not need to be defined by the specific industry your business is in at the moment. The interview is short, just about ten questions, and I can conduct it over skype, chat, or email depending on what you prefer. I do not really have anything to offer with this because I am not trying to advertise a business on here, I would just genuinely like to interview some of the successful business owners on this site because there are plenty. This does give you the opportunity to gain experience in being interviewed if you are interested in doing them in the future. Thank any of you who are interested in advance, you are really helping me out!

Edit: If you would rather contact me via inbox, feel free to do so!

    Looking for invoicing software

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:13 AM PST

    Hello all.

I hope that you can help me.

I found myself being part of a non-profit association where I managed all the members, make new members card and because of this, I also buy office supplies on their behalf. I the past i have saved the receipts on the item I have bought, scanned them and send them by mail to get a refund from the association. A half year ago I started using an invoicing software called NCH Express invoice and I worked very good. I could make an invoice, noted down the reference receipts numbers and send one invoice to the association. I could also make quotes on bigger item that i needed and I could have managed the money they owed me. Until now I had been able to use the program for free with some limited functions, but now I am not able to use it before I buy it.

So, my question is. Do you know a good invoicing software that are free to use?

    What I would like is

    • Invoicing
    • Customer database
    • Stock management
    • Customers statements
    • Be able to send invoice on mail from the program

    Thanks in advance

How to validate services business for medical marijuana industry.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 08:09 AM PST

I'm working on a project creating services business for the medical marijuana industry (not growing or distribution). I was going to setup an AdWords campaign to send to a lead page to help validate and build a prospect list but it turns out AdWords does not allow for advertising like that. Any of you have ideas on how I can promote the business to the right audience without the help of AdWords?

IT Technician business for the student

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 07:17 AM PST

I am doing my degree in IT and I have been playing around with computers for at least 10 years. I thought why not to sell my knowledge and skills while I am at the uni. In other words, I could fix computers, network problems, hardware, software etc. for people in and around my town. I am based in the UK, so the prices are costly even for simple windows re-installation. My question is, what would you suggest for this small businesses idea? I know it is nothing new. But perhaps something that would make me stand out from the crowd and get that call or email about computer repair.

What do you use for conference calls / video chat?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 02:13 AM PST

In my company we mostly message over email/slack which is fine for day to day messaging, but since one our team members went remote we have started doing conference calls / video chat for our longer meetings. So far we have just been using google hangouts, is there a better app for planning / having conference calls?

Do I need multiple business licenses for every delivery service I work for and for every county and cut I work in?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2017 01:37 AM PST

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this.

I have been working for Amazon Flex, Uber Eats and Doordash since October 2017. I deliver food and packages for these companies as an independent contractor.

Question is, do I need a business license for every one of these jobs, for every city and county? I mostly work in the Santa Clara county in California. I work part time so around 25 hours a week total with all three jobs.

    Thank you for your time.

Can I sell laptop with legal pre-installed software

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 05:40 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

I sell a hardware product that needs software to run it. The client needs to download three programs on their laptop. I was thinking of offering a premium package with my product and a Lenovo laptop with pre-installed software and configurations.

The software is legal and nothing is pirated.

    Is this legal to do?

On which platform should I sell?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 01:58 PM PST

We are planning to make designs for posters, shirts, mugs and so on and we are also confident that our niche will be able to compete with others, but we figured that it is better to do it on a marketplace instead of investing tons of money on an independent business.

We are not sure on which platform we should sell it. There's RedBubble, Printful, Amazon Merch & Print and plenty others. We plan on using social media to promote our products.

What is the best platform to sell on? Should we put our designs in all of those or focus on being ranked higher on only one platform? I appreciate any help!
