Finding a recruiter Sales and Selling

    Finding a recruiter

    Posted: 06 Dec 2017 04:48 AM PST

I'm curious as to how people typically find a good recruiter?

I'm looking at options for moving on from my current role (high achiever unhappy with strategic direction) and would rather not just fire my CV to the various jobsites. Linkedin Jobs seem to focus on larger organisations, and whilst not ruling those out I'd be keen for something niche/startup.

UK based. Selling a telecoms product into specialist applications like Defence, Security, Transport. I'm not tied to any one sector. Looking for a move into a new/growth industry, perhaps Cyber, IoT, 5G.....

What do you use as an internal Sales knowledge base?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2017 09:23 AM PST

I work in Sales Operations at a startup selling SaaS and am putting together our sales process documentation and information for onboarding.

I've been using Google Drive to organize and distribute this information. I was wondering if anyone has experience with other way to distribute or consume Sales training documentation that has worked. Trying to stay ahead of this stiff getting disorganized.

I transitions to sales 1 year ago with no experience in sales but lots as a buyer. I was number one when it came to account growth but number 8 out of 10 on gross sales. Did I have a good year?

Saw this post earlier but wanted to add another question. How much do you all sell a year? (Dollar amount) how much do you make? Industry?

Looking for advice on selling a company

    Posted: 06 Dec 2017 12:29 AM PST

Hi folks, I'm not sure if this is the right place or not but figured I'd give it a shot.

Myself and my partner are looking to sell our vpn company, but I'm not entirely sure where to start.

We are profitable, have been in business for 5+ years but no longer have the time to dedicate to keeping up the company, as we'd like to put all of our focus on another project at this time.

Do we find a broker to sell the company? Do we contact other companies and pitch? What are the next steps? Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks (and apologies if this is not the right place to ask such questions)!

    How fast should I quit?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 09:26 PM PST

I've been working at a SaaS startup for the last few months and I'm curious what other sales professionals think about my situation.

I've been employed there for 8 months now and don't see any realistic long-term prospects of making good money. At the time that I was hired, the internal recruiting team assured us that on-target earnings were just under $100,000 and 80% of sales reps were hitting this. They hired nearly 50 sales reps with this promise over a 12 month period.

Since that time, over half of the reps have left the company or been fired. Realistically, most reps are making closer to 50-60k. The company is very "cool" and offers nice startup perks (ping pong, beer, cold brew, liquor, etc.), but it's hard to stomach such abysmal compensation.

Is it a resume red flag if I leave now? I don't believe in the long-term prospects of my current company, but it's hard to look the other way when new opportunities are everywhere.

How much do you guys sell a year (in money/USD)

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 12:34 PM PST

I know it can vary wildly depending on what product it is you're selling, but I'm just curious.

I'm the top performing BDR 4 months into my job at a software startup. I've really want to change cities but I'm worried i haven't spent enough time in the role to leverage my experience properly for finding a new job. Is it possible to leverage 6 months as a top producer or will that just look bad?

Is my compensation plan a good deal?

Work for website selling subscriptions. Subscriptions we sell range from 500-3K a year. Generally sell about 20-30K a month and I collect 10%. Anything after 15K I collect 20%.

50k base. Is that standard or should I find a better paying job.

Does anyone have any experience with TransPerfect?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 02:34 PM PST

Background: I have been in sales for roughly 4 years, selling medical equipment in kind of a niche market. I did well and was sucessful, but the enviroment was toxic and the company was small. I quickly went from a essentially a BDR to business dev manager to head of sales. I essentially managed sales for the entire company.

Long story short, I left this company a couple of week ago and have been trying to find a new position. I would like to find a job in tech/software, but I haven't really had any bites yet.

The Point/Question: I did a phone interview with TransPerfect on Monday and am set to go in for an interview on Thursday. The pay is much lower than I was receiveing and that's fine as my goal is to find a great company with a clear path to advance for those who are sucessful. However, in doing some research, I'm finding a large number of negative reviews in regards to sales people at TransPerfect. There are probably 3 pages of bad reviews with the majority being negative.

I did a search here to see and couldn't find anything, so I just wanted to reach out to see if anybody has an experience with them.

Also, if there is anyboudy that wouldn't mind taking a look at resume and giving some feedback or suggestions for changes, I'd really apprecite it.

People in here who worked for psycho and crazy managers, what is your story? What did you eventually end up doing?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 04:25 PM PST

So I work for a manager who is openly racist, sexist, and gossips about everyone in the office behind their back. Being the only white guy on the team, I have often been singled out by my manager who is Hispanic as well as my director who is black. What makes matters worse is that our company tries really hard to be close knit and I brought my date to a company event only to have my manager tell her right to my face if she likes white guys so much, he can introduce her to quality ones.

We sit in meetings only to have this guy talk about how it is so unfair how illegal immigrants are being treated and how he thinks it is so unfair that black and Hispanic people do not get a fair chance when it comes to working for top companies. All the while, he says a lot of racist things towards white and Asian people then dares others on the team to "snitch to HR", often staring me down as I am the only white guy on the team.

My manager has also undermined any success I have had by saying it was due to "pure luck" and has made his bias clear after a couple months into the job.

I am in the process of finding ways to leave my current position and go elsewhere, some options have come up, hoping this whole thing works out and I end up with a better alternative.

What about your story guys? How have you dealt with situations where you had crazy managers?

    Why?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 12:17 PM PST

I work at a big tech firm as a bdc. Many of us know the upside of saas sales (earnings & autonomy), but many of my peers are discontent or dont want a future in sales. Often times they say that they see bdc role or any sales role as purely a resume builder. I like sales thus far, but sometimes i wonder why others dont like it or think lowly of it. I cant think of too many other careers that provide 6 figs salary and this level of freedom without being overworked. Many of my colleagues are pursuing law, business analytics, or professorship. Can you provide opinions and insight as to why people are discontnent? Is tech saas sales overhyped? Should it just be a resume builder? Am i selling myself short by pursuing a long term career in sales? Side note: im virtually 30 and many of colleagues are fresh out of college. Thanks for the input!

    The kiss of death

    Posted: 05 Dec 2017 01:48 PM PST

Tell me I'm not the only one who's experienced this phenomenon. You're on fire. Everything you touched is just closed like it's nothing. You are like a superhero, and out of nowhere you get that client that completely fucks you up. Eats up your whole day, backs out in the 11th hour, and turns you into trash for the foreseeable future.

Seriously how do I shake this?

Have any of you guys used NLP and did it help at all?

I know it's controversial but I'm just trying different things out in terms of improving myself. Thanks!
