Artist abandoned $4500 tattoo a couple sessions in. Cannot be reach after several months of trying on multiple platforms. How do I pursue this further in court?

Artist abandoned tattoo part way through. Doesn't answer personal phone (calls & text), shop phone, or Instagram messages. He hasn't disappeared or fallen of the face of the earth, he is still running his shop.

He still continues to post new videos of completed pieces on Tic Tock, Instagram and shop website which confirms this further.

I paid him $4500 up front. This was not the first piece I have had done by him nor the most expensive. I have always paid him up front. I never missed an appointment or was late to an appointment. Repeated offenses like that were the stipulations he had for not completing a piece and offering no refund.

When we started this tattoo I lived in Chandler, AZ. His shop is located close by in Mesa, AZ. Since starting I have relocated to CA for work. I've already flown out to AZ for one session after leaving the state. The plan was to do this until completion. It is common for him to receive customers from different states.

I do not know why he abandoned the piece but after several months of trying to contact him I've given up hope of finishing it. Now, I want to sue him and get my money back so I can get the tattoo finished elsewhere.

    How do I pursue this?

Is there a specific type of attorney I need to contact?

(Indiana) Seeking info and advice for young mom looking to divest custody of 8yo violent, severely autistic child - HELP!

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 04:44 PM PST

I have exhausted all avenues of "support" in this state. I have 2 YEARS of paper trail from contacting DCS (I self referred TWICE), BDDS, community partners with Childrens bureau, Riley childrens, pediatricians, psychiatrists and police. Even DCS admitted that I had exhausted all avenues of support and my only option was to wait for the Medicaid waiver for any form of short term respite or small relief, and that they're "reactive, not proactive." They take pics of my running water, my fridge of food and his bed and close out my case. We're on year one of a projected 2 year wait for this waiver. I have gone from asking for simple things to begging, pleading, and demanding residential placement. I have been ignored and I now wish to fully divest custody which they say will bring charges against me. I'm 9 months pregnant with a baby girl and everyone is excited saying now that there's a baby that will get hurt I might be taken more seriously. How disturbing and disgusting is that? My son punches me, hits me, rips my hair out and others, he kicks my partner in the back of the head while he is driving. He is dangerous. He got us no-fault evicted out of our last apartment for noise complaints because he beats on the walls until there are holes. I can't stand him. I can't handle him. I wasn't built for this. I am not a rotating staff that has the education needed to deal with these behaviors. I do not have padded facilities, I have paper thin apartment walls. I do not get sick days, a paycheck, a vacation, a break. I have been met with nothing but lukewarm pity and "our system is broken, it's true", and "do you really want him in a facility to just rot?" Yes, I do. And I'm not going to feel ashamed for an impossible decision I'm being forced to make. I have PTSD and severe anxiety and anger issues because of this situation. I'm scared shitless for my daughters well-being. What can I do and who can I contact to force the state to place him residentially or help me place him for adoption? I can't do it anymore. Paying child support would be welcome over this. I am so desperate I have come up with awful scenarios like getting addicted to drugs to forcibly lose custody. I'm straight edge and don't even drink! I can't do this anymore! I'd do anything to be free from this! I'm tired of being hit, chased and screamed at every waking moment of my life. I'm weary of dreading every moment he's home from school. Every weekend. Please help me. Also I am very very poor. I have no income currently. So I would have to have legal aid that could accept a payment plan or pro bono or something.

Edited to add: I can only hope this is the right place to post this. I'm new to Reddit and don't know anything about posting here. Please be patient with me.

Could my boyfriend get in trouble for not reporting a statutory rape that i did (Florida)

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 01:26 AM PST

My boyfriends roommate (20m) has been in a sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl for almost a year. I ended up reporting it, because I'm very concerned for her. But he's known about it the entire time they've been together, so if the police end up actually doing anything about it could he or anyone else get in trouble for choosing not to report?

Turned 18. Parents now asking me to sign Power of Attorney to them

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 09:22 AM PST

Throwaway account for obvious reasons. I just turned 18 and my parents are asking me to sign PoA to them. I know PoA is typically used for elderly people who are no longer capable of managing their assets so this is raising a ton of red flags for me. They said it's only for if i end up in the hospital during college so they can decide if i need to undergo any medical procedures.

My question is what exactly should I know about PoA before deciding whether or not to sign this document when the time comes?

My grandparents have discovered that their identity has been stolen and their annuity, which was their life savings of over a quarter million dollars, has been fraudulently dispersed.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 07:32 AM PST

Apologies if this post is against the rules in some way, I'm asking here because I'm not sure what should be done in a situation like this and I'm not sure where else to turn besides asking on Reddit.

Recently my grandparents were made aware that their annuity containing over a quarter of a million dollars, which is most of their life savings, has been fraudulently dispersed. I'm completely lost on what steps would be best to take here or what the likely outcome from this happening will be. Is there any chance of recovering the funds and is there any form of protection against identity theft for something like an annuity or are my grandparents SOL in this situation? Is the bank or brokerage in any way responsible for giving this money to the wrong person? I'm basically completely lost on what to do in a situation like this and I'm definitely no expert on how finances work or are managed, but any help, advice, or suggestions would be a massive help.

If anyone has any advice on who or what people should be contacted in a situation like this, what steps should be taken, what the best course of action here would be it would be extremely appreciated. If anyone has any questions or wants specifics on the situation for more details if that would help I can ask someone who might know more.

    Thanks

(NC) as a stay at home mom, can my husband leave me with nothing in a divorce?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 12:13 PM PST

My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years but married for about 6 years. We have two child, 4 yo and 11m, since my first child was born I quit my job and stayed at home to raise her since his job is very long hours, a shift is usually 12hours.

Our relationship has been rocky for the last two-ish years, since I was pregnant with out second. He has always had an inability to control his alcohol intake, but during my second pregnancy he was drunk almost everyday. And as we all know, alcohol can really get the person saying some pretty rough things. He finally started to get things under control and stopped drinking completely in July 2021, until now. He's not drinking wildly like he was before, but I have a feeling the cycle is starting again. He is secretly drinking and will lie until I find a receipt.

So I am a SAHM and i just transferred to a university, that I commute an hour to get too. My parents do a majority of the babysitting. He clearly pays for all the bills, except university which I have a loan for now. But we've been fighting and every time he just goes straight to finances and telling me how I can go live with my parents bc he pays for everything and I have nothing. He threatens to turn off my phone and tells me I'm a glorified babysitter and I'm clearly an idiot bc i took so long to get my associates degree.

I do feel stuck, I don't want to be with someone that thinks so little of me. How does a divorce work in North Carolina? He makes around $100,000 a year and has investments. Can he just stop supporting us? I don't expect to live off him or anything.

Soon to be Ex- Sister in Law wants off Mom's Mortgage as a co-signer. Threatens to Sue. Does she have grounds to do this?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 06:26 PM PST

    Hello..

    This is for my Mom.

My Mom bought a house and her brothers wife (who just filed for divorce after getting caught cheating) is co-signed on my Mom's house.

My Aunt came to my Mom today and said she wants off the mortgage and any money she's ever put towards the house - if she doesn't do that she will "Sue and take the house"

We asked our lawyer if she can do this and he said No but referred us to a real estate lawyer.

I'm in real estate and from what I see, this can't be done either

Just wondering if anyone knows this is possible? Can she sue to be taken off the house mortgage?

*She is not on the deed*

(She has never contributed towards the house besides buying us mulch one year from some cub scout or something)

    Fbi Call?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 01:26 PM PST

Hello, for the peace of mind I would like to get some advice regarding something that I think would be a scam. I have been talking briefly to a girl from a dating app, she gave me her number. We didn't talk much but she sent me a picture with her underwear but facing back (the mirror), I didn't say much, just that she looks like a snack. To be clear I didn't ask her for any sexual pictures, just asked if she could send me some pictures of her. Not unsolicited. I know that it sounds stupid. Her age was 26 on the dating app, she blocked and deleted me from that app but still texted me like twice a day. I didn't really make a big deal of that but today I got a phone call from North Carolina, from someone who introduced himself as a FBI agent and that her parents are a accusing me of something, I don't remember exactly what. He asked me if I'm familiar with some kind of law, paragraph. I said that I didn't do anything and hung up. Then I got a text from her number that it's her father and I should call her or they will put me on the news. I am pretty sure that they are just trying to scam me but the person from the FBI knew my first and last name, that's weird. I would be grateful for some advice.

Sister in law broke up with her husband last week and now he has keyed her car and put nair in her shampoo.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 08:10 PM PST

So my sister in law just broke up with her husband, she is still living with him and this morning found nair in her shampoo after smelling it in her hair. She then found her car keyyed in the locked garage. She is now moving in with us but was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to deal with this further?

So far she is going to contact the police and try to get it documented. We are going to take photos of as much as we can in the house and then she is going to move in with us for the time being.

My girlfriend's new on campus job has been requiring attendance to unpaid meetings.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 06:27 AM PST

Me and my girlfriend are university students in North Carolina and my girlfriend has two jobs for the university. One of them has weekly, unpaid, mandatory meetings. She didn't go to one last week and was told it was fine. Then a day later, she was told to provide medical documentation proving she was unable to attend.

She was just told by her manager that if she wants to be paid for these meetings, then maybe this job is not for her.

My girlfriend wants to put in her 2 week notice now but I suggested we wait and see if she has any other options.

The house I am renting has been without power for 13 days (Texas)

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 07:34 AM PST

The house we are renting has had issues with the power for 13 days. It started with a partial power issue. I contacted the power company, they said that when the fence in the backyard was installed someone hit one of the underground lines to the house and it took a while for it to fail. The fence was installed before we moved in. The power company said it was the customers issue. I contacted the rental company and they had someone come out and run a new line. And things have just been a disaster since then.

Basically, the power company and the maintenance/electrician keep going back and forth on what needs to be done. The power company keeps finding different reasons to not reconnect. The rental property has been completely useless and hard to even contact.

The rental company told me over the phone that I had approval to get a hotel for a max of $150 a night. I couldn't get them to send me that in an email or anything. I have a timeline of all communications between all parties involved. But at this point my family has been in a hotel for 11 days and my out of pocket expenses are throught be roof. I don't know what else to do. Any legal advice for this would be appreciated.

My best friend/roommate died of sepsis/septic shock and the landlord changed the locks the next day 1

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 10:36 AM PST

I've been living with my friend in his apartment for about a year and a half. His landlord knows about me but I have never spoke to her or met her until this. He was an older man and unexpectedly passed away 02/14/2022. He had been out of work since 11/2021 for medical reasons. I guess while he was waiting for his disability to be approved, he had not been paying her rent. I was unaware and never spoke to either of them about it. His disability was recently approved, and I was listed on his life insurance as sole beneficiary. But the hospital doesn't have his wallet or phone, life insurance hasn't called me back, and the landlord changed the locks the day after he died. Without contacting me or leaving a notice or anything. She allowed me one hour today to gather what I could of mine and didn't let me touch my roommate/best friends things while her and 2 other people sat in his chair and watched me. I have gotten mail there a year and a half. Between being there so long and being beneficiary plus my friends dead now, is she allowed to just lock me out and dictate what happens to everything inside etc because I think this is illegal. Everything I've read says she has to give like 10 days notice from the day he died. She didn't do that and I've been locked out for the past 4 days since she changed the locks so I'd think she'd at least have to give 10 days from when she'd post a notice. She has my number now and said she'd be in contact if necessary.. I'm just worried they're going in and taking his things or trashing them. They felt the need to make it clear they were wanting to do this by the law in its entirety but ironically hadn't been doing things legally at all and honestly I kinda want to sue her

Roommate passed away after leaving me his computer

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 02:22 PM PST

My roommate and very close friend passed away due to suicide. Days beforehand he gave me his computer. In hindsight Im thinking it was because of the suicide plan but at the time he told me he was simply going to buy a better one with his tax returns. However, his family doesnt believe me. And I don't have "proof" because well we were roommates, most things are said in person. What should I do? None of his files are on it anymore because he transferred them all to an external drive. Am I obligated to return it if it was gifted to me? (I am not trying to be selfish, but simply honor his wishes for he and I played games on PC every single day and I feel like thats why he wanted me to have it)

I feel like I'm being retaliated against for reporting a bad doctor and getting him fired.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:12 AM PST

About two months ago I had a really bad visit with a doctor at an urgent care in the health care network that I use. Basically I went to an urgent care with chest discomfort, I had covid at the time and I was worried that I had a blood clot in my lungs. I was shoed out the door in less than 15 minutes by a very rude doctor and his staff because it was so close to closing time. They didn't run a single test, order an x ray nothing. So I called and complained because this wasn't the first bad run in I had with this doctor. The investigator on the phone confirmed that I'm not the only one who has called and complained about this person. Ever since then the quality of care that I received through my primary and other doctors I see has dropped. I can tell that they are all bitter towards me and they've been charting things that either were not said or did not happen in my visits. This is a big deal because I'm going through physical therapy right now for POTS syndrome caused by covid 19 and I'm trying to get FMLA leave. Some examples are my doctor charted that I'm seeing another provider for addiction treatment and that is supposed to be protected information. No other providers are supposed to know that. Then he charted that I "showed no signs of pots" even tho 2 other providers have givin the diagnosis and referred me to PT for it. It's like they are trying to sabatoge my chart so that I get denied my leave and loose my job. I went through the exact same thing when I caught COVID a year ago and my experience was the exact opposite with the exact same doctors. They were all helping me and making sure that my claim would be approved now it feels completely different. I'm not really sure what I should do about it or who I should complain to. Also I'm afraid that if I do complain I'll be taken off my meds that I basically need to function. This is in WI

[MA] Is it legal for a broker to require their fee before they submit your rental application if the fee is nonrefundable even if you don’t sign the lease?

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:02 AM PST

Here in MA a broker fee equivalent to one month's rent is unfortunately the rule rather than the exception when signing on to a new apartment. I had a broker show me a place the other day that I liked enough so I decided to apply. He told me he couldn't begin to process my application if I did not give him his fee up front, which he promised he'd refund if my application were rejected. So far so good. However, he said the fee would not be refunded if my application were accepted, even if I opted not to sign the lease.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how it could possibly be legal for a broker to keep $2000 of my money without a signed lease in hand. I know there's a law in MA that says landlords can't charge fees like this, but since it is the broker charging the fee I don't think that would apply.

If this is truly illegal, I'd also love to know which agencies I can report this to. Perhaps this is a common practice that is largely swept under the rug, even if illegal. Frankly I don't want to take this BS sitting down and I'm willing to do almost anything necessary to ensure this realtor is penalized for his actions.

(PA) My ex keeps filing TPFA’s on me

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 07:18 AM PST

My Ex keeps filing TPFA's on me, to avoid two custody orders (we have two kids both above 5 yo). My lawyer and My ex's lawyer have agreed this current TPFA isn't strong, and will likely be dismissed if it goes before a judge. My question is: at what point does filing TPFA's to avoid Custody orders become illegal? Does it even at all?

Debt collectors that are not looking for me keep calling me since 2017.

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:14 AM PST

Hello! So, I've had the same number since 2017. But ever since I've had the number, I will occasionally get a call from debt collectors. Every time they ask for a woman named Holly and if I know her. Every time, I tell them no. They tell me the line is recorded and they will remove my number from the file. But sure enough they will call later. I am not Holly, nor do I know a Holly or have given anyone permission to use my number for their personal finances. These people are not calling consistently. Closest they have called together is twice in two days. Then I won't hear from them for months. Once I didn't hear from them for a full year and a few months, then I got calls again. As far as I can tell it is not the same collectors each time, though the same ones have called more than once. I just don't know what to do about it. I've never gotten mail or anything, so I think just my number is being used. Besides sounding like they don't believe me nobody that has called has been rude.

Child Visitation Question - Grandmother involved & receipts

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 04:53 AM PST

We both live in Florida. My baby mama just wants money from child support. She does not want me to have a relationship with my daughter. The baby mama has canceled 9 visitations which is in violation of our signed court order. I have been paying child support but being denied my daughter.

Our mediation agreement says "The Father will meet the mother at a particular Target to exercise time sharing with the minor child every Saturday from noon thru 4pm until further order of the court."

The grandma drives the baby mama to Target and sometimes sits and walks around with us during my visitation. The grandma claims she is there because she is her driver and will stay until visitation is over. Is this allowed? Is there anything I can do or say because I uncomfortable and bullied when the grandmother is around? Also I do not want the baby mama and the grandmother to say I did something that I did not do.

Also if I have a receipt of me being there at Target at 4:20ish (when visitation ends at 4pm), can I use that as proof if the baby mama says I was not there that day? It takes me at least 3-5 hours round trip to be at target.

Boss sent me home for getting sexually harassed by a customer

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 07:36 AM PST

If anyone is up to par in HR or sexual harassment in a workplace, i would love your help with this situation.

I have a more detailed post (I don't know how to link it..check post history if you want the full scoop) but basically, I am a server at a big corporate restaurant. Yesterday I was serving a big table and I was leaning up against another table while taking their order. The table i was leaning against was empty when I walked up to it, but some people came up and sat down there and I didn't notice them right away.

In order to get my attention, one of them decided it would be a good idea to hit me on the backside a couple times with a menu. I didn't flip out when this happened; I didn't even consider it to be sexual harassment when it happened. I just turned and gave them a look like "wtf?" And they informed me that they were with the other people (the people I was facing.. actively taking their order) and that they were ready to order.

I mentioned this happening to my manager because it rubbed me the wrong way and I was getting overwhelmed now that more people had shown up to my large party table. I didn't mention it in a sexual assault kind of way but my manager didn't notice this as sexual assault or assault of any kind. Didn't assign the table to a new server and didn't mention kicking the table out of the restaurant at all. So I continued providing service to them, not thinking about what they did to me.

As time went on and I continued serving the table, they did a few more things to get under my skin and i finally lost it on them. I told them I was doing the best I could and I didn't know what more they could expect from me. My manager heard this happen and told me to go wait in the break room.

My general manager comes back to the break room and asks me what happened. I told him about how the table started off smacking my butt with the menus, did a few more disrespectful things to me, and then started complaining to my manager about how I wasn't in a good mood while serving them, which is what caused me to lose it on her as she was one of the people who saw the guy hit me with the menu, laughed about it, and darn well knew why I was in a bad mood.

My manager heard my side of the story and told me that my behavior isn't acceptable in his restaurant so he asked me to clock out. Took away my next two shifts and set up a meeting on Tuesday to decide my employment status.

I feel as though this is wrong. I told my manager when they first hit me with the menus (sexual assault) and she did nothing to remove them or to protect me from the situation; so it escalated until I eventually lost my cool. I don't think I should be fired for yelling at a customer after they made physical contact with me.

Im planning on demanding compensation for the shifts I lost while on a "probation period" and im also planning on recording the meeting with my GM (one party consent in my state so he will not be notified of the recording until after) but do I have any other legal standings

I went NC with my family and they filed a missing persons case.

    Posted: 20 Feb 2022 04:07 PM PST

I went no Contact with my family after they hurt me deeply. I ended up changing my phone number, deleted social media accounts, and moved states. I kept a old email that I kept in contact with one of my friends. She emailed me and let me know the police are looking for me. She gave them the email and told the officers I choose to go no contact. She also asked they not share the email. They did, I received a email from the police asking me to come in and answer their questions. As part of a "well check". I also received emails from my family. (I haven't read them). Do I have to speak to the police? I feel like my privacy was already violated when they gave my family my email. (I want to delete that now). Any advice and help on how to deal with this would be appreciated thank you

    Access to a video tape

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 05:12 AM PST

Hello. I have q question regarding a Texas memory care facility and a residents family videotaping us. This residents family put up a camera in his room a few months ago. We did not have a problem with it because we knew we're were doing our job correctly. Until the last week or so. He has declined quite a bit and is in pain. It is very uncomfortable and possibly very painful when we have to change his pullups/briefs. We are always extremely careful. Well last week he has started screaming bloody murder every time we go in there. Even before we touch him. His family viewed that videotape and called our boss and accused us of abuse. We asked to see the videotape to see what they thought the problem was. We were emphatically denied. Is there anything we can do to be able to view that tape? It is extremely frustrating because we were so careful and now we are being told we are abusive. Please any information and advice please let me know. Thank you.

$0 medical bill “ready for collections.” Recourse? (WV)

    Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:37 AM PST

I had routine blood work done in June 2021. After my appointment, I received a statement from the hospital system for a patient balance of $0. Great, insurance paid and everything is taken care of.

Last month I received another statement, again for $0, but this time with a "we are about to send you to collections" warning on it. I checked the online bill pay portal, and the record # had a $0 balance. My patient portal (a separate online system) showed a $0 balance on the visit. I called the medical billing office, and they said it was an error, they are going to reissue the statement.

Today I received the new statement, now it's suddenly a $550 balance about to go to collections in a few days, when for months it's showed as a resolved bill. Do I have recourse or legal regulations to force them to "reset the clock" so it doesn't go to collections, or even better to write off the debt that was incorrectly billed nearly a year ago? No, the medical billing department is not being helpful.

To add insult to injury, the $1000 worth of bloodwork they billed my insurance is about $50 at the same hospital, using the same laboratory, the only difference is being drawn at my doctor's office instead of their walk in clinic.

My landlord has caught me jamming. a hammer to the door side and confronted me and got mad at me. I understand it is wrong but I feel she isn't giving me privacy even though she says otherwise. I asked her nicely if she could place a lock on my door and she said she has to have a key to come in if there is an emergency which I agree is correct but I feel I should still have something on my door either way. I always have a lock on every door to any room I have ever rented except this one and she has been in and out of my room few times without permission and has opened my door without knocking before several times now and has opened my door in middle of the night to let the cat in my room but without knocking and freaks me out. Then she messaged me this. First off you are very rude just now . I gave you curtains to put on the windows you do know how to use thumb tack and I had curtains hanging on both windows and yes the window is broken you knew before u moved in this was a very old house and I never said I put a lock on the door I said I would fix the door knob and as for your privacy u made it sound like I don't give u any privacy which is not true at all I don't go in you're room. When you're there or not there . . And to put a latch on that door it comes with screws and I prefer u screw it in not hammer it . So I have been nuthen but nice to you and for you to be as rude as you was just now I'm sorry but I won't tolerate it I haven't been rude to and you're not gonna be rude to me . Like I said you can use thumb tacks . So if this is gonna work out you living here you need adjust you're attitude cause nobody have done nuthen to you as far ur privacy or anything else thank you very much

I haven't answered her 3 plus messages that are equally as much as this one and I just feel like she is not ok or something....

Here are some other texts I received and I didn't answer back.

Just curious are u looking for another place to move also what happened to the light bulb that was in you're room I wanted to turn it on I wanted to get the stuff that was hanging up in there

Will you be here soon just wondering

Hey you will have to just knock on the door cause I don't like leaving that other locked w just one lock I leave unlock for u if I'm not here but iam so u can just knock on the door if ur comming back tonite so let me when ur comming I will unlock front door

And u never answered my question I had asked you

Other texts I did reply to ill just screen shot please give me advice. Thanks

Received a subpoena on Saturday to appear tomorrow at 8:15 AM. The court is closed today. Its unsafe for me to testify. How do I let them know I can’t come in?

If I'm seen at the courthouse by anyone who is there supporting the person I'm supposed to testify against, I'll be in real danger.
