It's a happy kinda sad, but goodbye sales Posted: 25 Feb 2022 01:51 AM PST I've been in sales for as long as I can remember. Started with some... let's say questionable product choices, to going legit and doing door-to-door, selling sponsorship slots for sporting venues, and then landing some very high-quality SaaS sales roles. It's been an absolute blast all the way, and I can't believe how much I've learned. This sub has helped me through some hard times in sales and helped me make some very tough decisions along the way. Mainly just through lurking, I learned so much about how much you can and can't control in a deal, how to open some tough "hail mary" cold calls that landed six-figure deals. I've always been a creative thumb and over the last `12 months, I've felt I've gotten all I can out of sales other than money. Through slinging software, I've also grown to love how much of a difference technology can make in people's lives. So after 4 years and some hella fat checks, I'm going to start creating software instead of selling it. Thanks to everyone here - I know I've never posted in this sub but it has been such a huge resource for me and I feel I owe you all at least those words :D Stay hungry, and always remember your ABC's <3 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2022 04:41 PM PST "Just interviewed for AE and the hiring manager called me a piece of shit and told me to blow him, but I won't name them because they will know who I am." Bro, who cares if they do? Name and shame companies that act unprofessional. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:08 AM PST Hey guys so I've been a fully trained BDR for about 2-3 months now. I've been with the company for 5 months in total. We sell an IT solution that helps companies monitor their employees devices, and we only go after large commerical and Enterprise businesses (5k+ headcount) For the last month my weekly activity average has been about 150 emails and 300 calls. I haven't been able to book a successful meeting yet. 98 percent of the people don't pick up, and the ones that do hang up very quick. Meanwhile most of the team has half my activity but are booking meets left and right. My territory is the west coast and I live in new England so I try to call between 9AM-11AM west coast time. Is there any advice on what to do? I've been told I'm very well spoken and I try to cater emails to the company as much as possible without spending hours. Any sales wisdom would be appreciated, I'm not ready to give up, I want this to be my career. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone have any ROI templates that are your favorite? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 08:59 AM PST Hi everyone, I just got promoted as an Account Executive at a startup. I'm trying to build an ROI slide, is there anything you're currently using? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2022 08:31 PM PST I made a post few days ago about getting promoted and making 80kcad base salary. Shortly after that a company I was interviewing for made an offer of 100k usd and a better title with similar responsibilities. I am completely in shock and it has not hit me yet that I used to dream of making this much money. The plan for now is to start saving 4-5k( cad) a month and start buying real estate and investing in stocks/crypto. My long term goal is to not work lol, so this puts me closer to achieving that goal. For reference I was making 1400 while working 70 hours a week just 5 years ago. My progression so far (after tax) - and in CAD. 2017 1400/mo at 70 hours per week ( while being a full time student) 24-25k CA before tax 2018 2100/mo 40 hours (retail) 36-40K CAD before tax 2019 3000/mo 70 hours ( 2 full-time retail jobs) 50-55k CAD before tax 2020 3000/mo 40 hours ( retail, but a bigger company) 55k CAD before tax 2021 mid year changed to 4k/mo 40 hours ( SaaS) 100k CAD total comp including OTE. before tax 2022 just changing to 7.4k/mo 40 hours ( Saas) (140k CAD total comp including OTE prior to getting the new job, the new job is over 200k USD OTE before tax do you guys have any recommendations for anything such as investments or what to do with my money? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Books suggestion for building rapport with clients Posted: 25 Feb 2022 08:44 AM PST As the title says, I would really like to improve and know more about this particular area of sales, keeping in touch with clients, and stuff like that Thanks in advance 😀 [link] [comments] |
How do you win back upset clients? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 11:50 AM PST I'm wondering how you all approach win backs. I'm a new AE at a SAAS startup and am getting to the point where I'm getting cancel requests almost weekly. The support team does what they can, but customers get upset over failures that aren't resolved instantaneously. We do have a contract so they're not free to jump ship right off the bat, but I'd like to cool people off and focus on value before resorting to the contract (AEs are generally looped in once the customer asks to cancel). How do you all structure these calls to upset/wanting to leave customers? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Feb 2022 11:42 AM PST Hello! im new to the group, I was wondering if anyone with experience in digital marketing or d2d would be willing to shed some pointers. I'm not looking to self promote here or anything but could really use some tips on gaining a online presence. In the past I ran company generated leads but after a company switch I'm now responsible for my own. Also, if anyone in residential solar feels like shooting the breeze hit me up! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 11:24 AM PST Im a college student goin to interview for a BD Sales intern role at Stripe. Some questions -is stripe a good company to work in sales for? I know their Software eng pays well but idk about their culture and pay for sales -what should I expect? -is this a good field to try out? Heard interns just cold call all day or do Excel sheets and don't learn much for sales internships? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 12:36 AM PST I am a sales/business analysis professional and I recently lost my job. It was mutual. My close rate and closed deal amount was the highest on the team, but I really, really struggled to hit the 75-100 calls per day. I've learned that I prefer a more targeted approach vs pure volume. My background is very technical (think SQL, Excel, PowerBI, and Adobe CS) and I work primarily in the SaaS space. It's definitely an employee's market and ever since I set my LinkedIn to "looking for work", I get at least one recruiter a day contacting me about a job. However, almost none of these companies have adjusted their hiring processes to be more competitive. I'll use one of the interview processes I am enduring right now as an example. The role in an entry-mid level SDR position. The pay is good - like really good - and I am genuinely a fan of the software. I'm really interested and think it would be a good fit, but goddamn. They expect a grand total of FIVE interviews and a take-home task early in this process. The take-home task is extremely extensive and will take at least 4 hours to do it right. We are talking about crafting entire emails, scripts, and cadences for hypothetical scenarios. There are a lot of those hypothetical scenarios as well. It's complete overkill and honestly, good interviewers should be able to get enough info about a candidate's work style/thought processes WITHOUT requiring free work. Honestly, I am this close to ducking out. The last 3 interviews are all 1-2 HOURS long. The only reasons I am even considering continuing are the Glassdoor reviews are very high, the pay is great, and I really, really need a job. I'm just so tired of every SaaS Company emulating FAANG hiring practices for no reason. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know where I can purchase solar leads? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:55 AM PST Looking to purchase some solar leads in NJ&MD, I just don't know any trustworthy lead sources. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate that a lot! [link] [comments] |
Is sales ageless? Where can you go when you slow down? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:46 AM PST It seems like sales experience only translates to more sales experience but with greater responsibility. The salaries are great right now in SaaS but how long-lasting of a career is sales? Do salespeople skew young on average? Is being 50+ a disadvantage in the sales world, particularly in tech sales? And if you slow down and you're tired of the grind, where can you go that your experience translates well, without having to start at the bottom? Just some thoughts. Would love some inputs [link] [comments] |
Free Chrome Extensions to Launch Automated Email Cadences Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:31 AM PST I am curious to see what free tools the community is using to launch email sequences/cadences. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:24 AM PST I was approached on LI to interview for a Sr. AE role with them and took the initial call with one of their recruiters. The market fit for the product looks terrific, and they've been on a rocket ship for revenue growth in the last 3 years. I've also seen some concerning posts on this sub previously, and Glassdoor, about the culture and over hiring. I only got the warm and fuzzy outlook from the recruiter and would appreciate insights from current or former employees. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Tech salesmen - please impart your wisdom Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:23 AM PST any experienced software sales people here? okay I'm currently in a coding bootcamp and it's intense AF and to be honestly, I'm struggling with it a lot. if i can't cut it as a web dev, I am still interested in coding and software and the internet and technology and could see myself nowhere else but in this field. i am an introvert but can also be an extravert if needed. i've done plenty of sales jobs in my 20s and feel comfortable with it.

Interested in pivoting in to ERP sales, not sure what steps to take Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:13 AM PST Hi Everyone, First time poster here but I've lurked this sub for a good while. First of all let me say I love reading through this sub and the general constructiveness and positive vibes everyone shares. I've been in sales for the same company for 4 years (manufacturing inside sales, then promoted to outside sales / territory manager). The company I work for is solid, and I make decent money for my location (lower cost of living area), but I feel a little capped at this company and want to start exploring options in other fields. Like many on this sub I'm interested in the world of tech / SaaS. I read plenty about sales being a lot easier if you have a passion / believe in what you sell. I've long been in the mindset that sales is just means to an end, but if there is a software I think I could be passionate about, or at least empathetic towards customer's pain, it's ERP systems. Why? Because the ERP system my company utilizes is old, slow, and a giant pain to work with. I've lost untold hours to freezes, slow loading, and a generally difficult to navigate UI. I certainly think I could make connections with possible customers given my understanding of pain points in inefficient ERP systems in manufacturing. I was hoping anyone out there who works in the manufacturing ERP world might have some insight in to the best ways to break in to the industry? It's a fairly specific industry that doesn't have job listings regularly posted in my area or state in the traditional channels (indeed / LinkedIn). My goals are to find a fully remote position with a similar OTE to my current position ($50K base $70K OTE), and would really love to get in to an AM role with upward mobility. Any guidance to get started in this industry would be hugely appreciated! [link] [comments] |
What % gets you to President’s Club Posted: 25 Feb 2022 09:43 AM PST I've heard some need 100% some 125% to quote to make P club. What's your org require? [link] [comments] |
I just had a combative interviewer threaten to call my previous employer as a interview tactic Posted: 24 Feb 2022 04:19 AM PST This is a repost from r/jobs https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/comments/szvfbk/i_just_had_a_combative_interviewer_threaten_to/ I was interviewing for a sales executive job over zoom meeting (The recruiter wanted to reschedule due to weather but I suggested a zoom meeting as an alternative and they liked the initiative and set it up; the interviewers did not seem to appreciate this and had some remarks about video conferencing). It was supposed to be with a sales manager and with the VP, but only the sales manager was in attendance. Things were going normally with the sales manager and I was able to give them my background and reason for wanting to work there. The VP shows up 20 minutes late, does not apologize nor make an effort to explain. I was asked to re-explain my background and why I wanted to work there. The VP asked why I left my previous sales job, and I explained that I had missed time with family with all the travelling I was doing and was seeking to do less traveling. He became combative and incredulous as if it made no sense why I would leave a stable job and that I was hiding something. He then preceded to ask me for my past supervisors full name mid-interview and said he was going to add him on linkedin and ask him. He kept asking me if there was anything more I wanted to say that I was leaving out; there was none. There was no formal request for references or even a courtesy of asking me if I was alright with him reaching out. It was clear to me that he thought I was hiding something and threatened to contact my last supervisor to get the full story because my reason was not good enough for him. This was probably the worst interview I've seen conducted. I asked respectful questions and entertained every accusation with a smile. I plan on withdrawing my application. The recruiter and sales manager seemed fine... it totally feels like a bait and switch. Another thing I did not appreciate was how he explained their sales strategy as 'selling doubt' against competitors and seemed proud of it; I found it gross. I couldn't imagine how he treats his customers and coworkers. Remember, you are interviewing them just like they are interviewing you. Both should be setting to put their best versions of themselves. Let this be an example of how not to conduct an interview. [link] [comments] |
Data provider with Non Profit Donation Volume Dollar Amounts Posted: 25 Feb 2022 09:34 AM PST Hi all, I'm on the hunt for a reliable database to source non profit donation volume dollar amounts. Right now we are sourcing non profit data with CauseIQ. I want to see if there is a better database to get us data on non profit donation volume. Would ZoomInfo have reliable domestic and international data? Looking for any advice here. [link] [comments] |

Sales vs supply chain management? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:47 AM PST I had an offer to leave my supply chain career. I'm a bit burnt out tbh. I am a Senior supply chain planner for a Fortune 500 who would be going into an internal account manager role for a large privately owned company . Thoughts ? Pay is slightly more on the sales side but I get overtime so it starts to split hairs. Currently working remote some of the week 4-10 hour shifts . The sales role would be the normal 9-5. Both hovering around 70k all in comp. Sales closer to 74 all in per last years numbers. Advice ? Would it be difficult to re-enter my career if it's not what I thought it'd be? I want out of Supply chain and thought this could be a break into sales. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:32 AM PST Hi everyone, like the title suggests I will be graduating this semester in Spain and am looking to get into tech sales. I have previous B2C and B2B experience of over 2 years. The problem is that I don't have a US or EU passport and companies are hesitant to sponsor. If anyone has any leads on companies that sponsor entry level positions in Europe or can refer me to somewhere/someone I would really appreciate it! [link] [comments] |
