Legal Advice Fired for being a victim of Domestic Violence

Fired for being a victim of Domestic Violence

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 06:01 AM PDT

I worked for a well known nonprofit in Washington until yesterday. On Friday I had asked the office manager if we had any leftover backpacks for my 4 children since we are in poverty and my husband is in jail. She said no. The funders of the nonprofit would not approve of donating leftovers to needy employees. On Monday morning, the Executive Director fired me saying "we know you have a lot going on in your personal Life so we think its best if you step away from work to take care of your family." I asked if there were any complaints, previous discipline, work quality or truancy issues. She said no. You are not in a state to be working. I asked her if she was aware that I am a current victim of domestic violence and my husband is incarcerated. She said "yes, that is why we came to this decision. We have to put our clients first." I have plenty of paid time off and asked if she preferred I take a week off and she said "its going to have to be much longer than a week." My direct supervisor confirmed that there were zero complaints or work quality concerns. I live in Oregon. I feel lost and in disbelief. Even with extreme trauma and turmoil in my personal life, my work quality and attendance had not changed. Some say I do not have a case because there is nothing in writing, but I do have witnesses.

Got ring footage of my neighbor abusing his dog in front of young daughter

    Posted: 14 Sep 2021 08:03 PM PDT

Hello all, throwaway for reasons I'll explain.

I live in Colorado Springs Colorado in an apartment complex. I have a ring doorbell on my front door just above my peephole. There is a family that lives directly across from me, meaning when I open my front door theirs is directly in front of mine. The husband is an attorney, which is why I made a throwaway and I won't be too specific in this post.

I captured footage on my ring doorbell of the husband brutally abusing their dog. Repeatedly slamming the door on its head and ribs whilst choking it from a leash. This was in front of his little daughter, who looked incredibly frightened to follow him into the apartment after witnessing that. I've sent the footage to only my closest colleagues and family for confirmation of what I was seeing, to be honest I was speechless. They've all suggested I do something, though no one is consistent on what that should be.

Basically, with the husband being an attorney I'm already afraid of some impending legal battle in retaliation.

Should I just call the anonymous animal cruelty tip line & be done with it? I'm worried it won't really be "anonymous" and I'll get sued.

Should I let apartment management know?

Is having my ring doorbell pointing directly at their door legal?

    Thank you

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has contributed advice to this post. After considering all the input from this thread and various other sources I believe I have some what of a plan of action. I checked my footage again this morning & there was yet again more video evidence of abuse. There was also a very peculiar video involving the young daughter who I believe is the same one who witnessed the abuse yesterday. It chilled me to the point of knowing for certain that I will not remain silent, unfortunately I think this is going to snowball into a bigger issue. I won't be posting for a while, but when I can I will make an update thread. Thank you all once again, I hope everything works out okay.

My restraining order isn’t protecting me

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 01:04 PM PDT

I got out of a physically abusive relationship in April. We have a 1 and a half year old together. We had court in August where they granted a 9 month restraining order, I have all the paperwork. Today he called me off of no caller ID. I hung up and called the police department, where i was told he hasn't been served and therefore there is nothing they can do about it. If this is the case, then am I even being protected at all? According to the information they gave me, he could show up to my home and nothing will be done about it, and that's extremely scary to think about. If anybody knows what I can do about this, I would really appreciate it.

How long do I have to keep property from an old employer?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 05:34 AM PDT

    FLORIDA

Long story short, I accepted a remote job and they sent me a laptop, monitor and all the cords and accessories such as mouse keyboard and headset.

Turns out I was lied to about multiple things including the actual job duties, job role the environment so I quit. It has been about a month and I have twice contacted my recruiter in HR as well as my boss about returning the equipment. They just said IT will contact me and they never did.

I messaged another girl who worked there with me who also quit for the same reasons and they have not asked for her equipment back either.

In my resignation I mentioned gross misrepresentation (they can be sued) and how if they had been honest about the job I would have never accepted. I'm wondering if this is why? The other girl said she also mentioned the same thing.

I'm not trying to be slimy here and keep their stuff but It's taking up space and It makes me nervous having their property.

Landlord is claiming we smoked marijuana inside our apartment and is withholding majority of security deposit for complete repainting of walls and ceiling... but we don't smoke pot AT ALL

    Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:05 PM PDT

This is in Vermont. My (former) partner and I both don't smoke pot at all -- we could pass a hair follicle test if need be, but lab ones cost like $100 apiece so I don't know if it would be worth it. My former partner may have medical documentation from their neurologist citing that they don't smoke marijuana, but the security deposit is all mine, and honestly I'd rather not bother them since we've split up. I might be able to get my therapist to attest that I don't smoke pot, because I've mentioned it in sessions before.

When we moved out, I filmed the entire apartment - walls, cabinets, ceilings, floors, outdoors, everything. I knew that the landlord would try to take money out of the security deposit for any reason possible, but I was frankly blindsided by the accusation of marijuana smoke. My guess is that there was literally no visual evidence that they could provide to a court to justify any other kind of deduction, so now they are suddenly claiming that there is an odor (there was not, because, again, we do not smoke marijuana - not inside, not outside, not ever in the entire duration of our lease). The letter reads in part:

"Housing is coating [sic] with smoke stain and gum from marijuana. The lease reads no smoking of any kind allowed in the apartment. Yet the property smells of marijuana. Even after painting all the walls. The smell is in the ceiling which will have to be painted to seal out the odor."

This is only part of an extremely long list of absurd, relatively incoherently described basic cleaning tasks for which they are claiming deductions from the deposit, many of which I had already completed before moving out (e.g. washing baseboards and floors, cleaning ceiling fans, etc.) I have video footage and pictures of the entire apartment showing it perfectly clean with no discoloration, but I have no idea how to dispute the "odor" claim, and the majority of the charges are for repainting the whole apartment on the basis of that claim. They also claimed that they did the repainting themselves, presumably to avoid having to provide a receipt for doing so. They charged $35/hour for 12 hours of painting. I honestly highly doubt that they actually did any painting.

I moved to a new city to start a PhD program. I'm a responsible tenant and I spent many hours ensuring everything was perfect in the apartment. I have documentation. I don't smoke marijuana. What is my recourse here? Am I SOL?

Here is the Vermont law on security deposits

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

UPDATE: I disputed the cleaning and painting fees via email and the landlord responded with this garbled mess:

"I did not charge you for painting the ceiling I'm well aware of the existing discoloration of the ceiling I am saying it needs to be painted to block out the odor of marijuana smell. Plant you did not leave the property clean I sent you photos of all the dirt and all the places that need to be scrubbed it was documented all the filth that you left there. I sent you the assigned inspection addendum if it was dirty it would've been noted and you signed off on that. The carpet had to be re-clean you had stain yeah dump them in over two years. Sandro longer they're all that takes time and effort $200 for cleaning is way below what I normally charge somebody. you signed a lease it clearly state of the property was repainted how old the carpet was I had full disclosure. "

Tenant from 2015 wants abandoned property back. GA

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 12:27 PM PDT

Had a roommate who was a family member back in 2015, they had no written lease as it was only meant to last a few weeks, ended up lasting until February 2016. They were only supposed to pay the difference increase in water/heating/food etc. They started not doing so, asked them to leave they moved out and returned to their original state.

After moving out I sent a letter about the abandoned property and back 'rent'. They didn't respond, in 2017 they rolled up and got some of their stuff, said they'd be back next month for the rest never came back. Sent a text, told me to never speak to them again and to lose their address.

In 2018 I removed the rest of their property including guns they left. We're now selling the home and they have reached out wanting their guns and tools none of which I have.

They're claiming they never got mail or text and that they never changed their address. They're threatening to come back and force their way back into the home.

How fubared am I? Anything I can do to protect my house closing?

A coworker told the manager(in person at work, the other day) that she is coronavirus and all of the symptoms. The manager didn't make her go home, and she's still been coming to work. Is this not illegal? (USA)

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 05:42 AM PDT

I am 18 so not high risk, but still. I don't want worthless corona. The manager only lets her still work even after she said she is positive for coronavirus with symptoms is because we are understaffed. but I'm pretty sure putting the other employees' health and safety(from covid) at risk is but highly illegal?

Don't mind the typos. Using my tablet to post this.

The job is at a food place btw. So yeah, she could get alot of people sick. I have no idea why she is so selfish knowing she is postive yet still comes and the managers don't even make her leave.

    Men messaging my underage daughter

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 12:47 PM PDT

I recently discovered that men have been sending sexually explicit messages to my underage daughter (one sent explicit photos, the others didn't). It looks like it started out with ostensibly platonic messaging on some kind of alternative social media site, with her just trying to be friendly and make friends, and they gradually shifted the conversations into completely inappropriate territory, with some talking about wanting to meet in person but not making any specific plans to do so, and using emotional manipulation to keep my daughter engaging with them (she kept this to herself for a while but finally got upset enough to tell us). A couple are from the US, but one is from Canada and one from the UK. This is really disturbing, disgusting stuff, and my daughter is embarrassed, confused, and shaken up. So questions I have:

1.) Do the messages have to include explicit photos to be illegal, or is it actionable for them to be writing sexual content and clearly trying to develop a relationship, etc?

2.) How would an investigation work in a scenario when the perpetrator is from one country and the victim in another and the whole thing was done over the internet? Which country handles the case?

I would appreciate any help/guidance, thank you.

    My grandma has smuggled artifacts

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 01:14 PM PDT

Sorry if this is a rather complex issue that cannot be applied here. My grandma dated a land surveyor in Libya, and while he was surveying land in Libya he came across some artifacts that to his knowledge was just cool looking rocks, which he brought home to give to my grandma. Here is the thing, my grandma has had them looked over by a local university back in 1986, and the conclusion is that these artifacts are of significant cultural value. My grandma has kept them since to date. However, she is getting old and I'm worried my uncle will obtain them when she passes and these important artifacts will not be returned to the country of origin or even donated to a cultural site where they can be admired by the public. What can I do? How can I have these artifacts returned to the right institution? Who do I even contact?

My landlord won’t let me move in.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 10:14 AM PDT

I was supposed to move in on September 1st however my apartment company said the unit had water damage. They pushed the date back to the 9th then back to today. Each time only telling me I couldn't move in the day I was supposed to move in. My new job starts on the 20th and there are no apartments available in the area. I'm in Louisiana by the way.

Landlord is selling our building and won't give me any solid information.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 11:34 AM PDT

I live in an old apartment building with six units. A few weeks ago the landlord group texted asking when we'd be available to let in "pest control". A week later "pest control" changed to "people will be coming by to inspect the building". When I paid rent I asked if the inspection was for an appraisal, if he was selling the building. He told me he has sold all his other properties and is thinking about selling this one. He also told me not to tell anyone. Yesterday the company came to inspect the building and an hour after that I received a voicemail from someone saying they were the new owners, that they needed information from me and they needed to give me information on how to pay my rent in October! I thought this might happen but I didn't expect it so soon. I don't give out my information to people I don't know so I texted my landlord for confirmation. He called me, told me he didn't know the name of who was going to own the building. I told him I'd like to turn in my 45 day notice as that was something I had been thinking about anyway. He sounded panicked, told me I should wait and that it wasn't final that the building was sold??? I asked him to find out exactly who I needed to give my notice to and TEXT me the information. That was 3pm yesterday. At 8pm I sent him a photo of my typed up notice of intent to vacate. He has not responded and it is after 1pm the next day. I don't have a physical address to meet him as the building he used is being prepped for demolition. The only way of communicating with him is through text or calling if he responds. It just seems like a shady situation. He usually seems like an alright guy but keeping this from us and just trying to slip out without letting us know what's going on is not ok. Several tenants leases end in October.

Sorry for the long text, I've never asked advice like this online. Could someone give me an idea of what's going on and what to do?

HOA screening company not releasing their findings

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 07:31 AM PDT

    Hello All,

Recently me and my wife were denied by an HOA in Florida to rent a unit, reason being that my wife had an eviction in a city that she never lived in. My wife ask were they sure as this was from 2015 and we've lived in three complexes since then and never heard this. We further told the screening company that my wife has to get yearly checks due to her job and never heard this. We ran a credit check on her and didn't see these eviction either. When we asked for a copy of their finding they told us they can't due to privacy concerns, even though we paid their application fee. Is this normal? We just want to get to the bottom of if someone is stealing my wife's credit or if we were denied in error.

Lawyer handling the will was put on bank account for end of life processing. After passing, now says that the funds in the account belong to him.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 09:12 AM PDT

    Region: Kansas, USA

Friend "Daniel" was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Lawyer, "Albert", he's known for decades and assisted with other family estate etc. Unknown to me Albert was put on Daniel's bank account (I found that out after Daniel passed). Albert had advised Daniel to liquidate all his financial investment accounts to simplify things later. So I proceeded to assist him in resolving all his outstanding accounts to be deposited into his bank account, so he had funds for his end of life care and to cover all his bills.

Myself and another family friend had been named in the will to inherit "all the rest residue and remainder whether real, personal or mixed, to which I may be entitled, or in which I may have an interest at the time of my death".

However, now the lawyer says that since his name is on the bank account it is his. I know that this was not Daniel's intent but of course can't prove beyond the will.

Is there anything that can be done? Should I take this to a lawyer or does it seem like we're just out?

Edit 1: The will stated the executor is directed to "pay all last debts" etc. And that he was appointed "to serve without bond".

One other concern is the provision stating if we "object to the private of the Will in any manner, directly or indirectly, contest or aid in the contesting of this Will, any provision thereof or any part of the estate hereunder" that will basically be deemed as pre-dead and I suppose out of the will. But I don't feel that pursuing the proper execution of the will is the same as contesting it.

Neighbor ran our newly installed expensive mailbox over with his truck

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 01:49 AM PDT

Seattle WA: He had parked his truck and newly acquired boat along our property line for a few days, blocking our mailbox leading into the weekend. We were unable to access our box, so I left a kind note asking he be mindful while parking along our road. The next morning, my box was dented and ripped completely out of the ground with a note facing upwards reading "does post deliver on Sundays?"

I gave him plenty of time to come to me and admit his wrong doings. That never happened. We had a few conversations in the street that I have recorded with his admission and his intention to fix it, plus one video of him talking to me and through the ring camera at my front door further proving the situation. I feel I have more than enough proof that he is guilty and that he should hold up his promise to fix his mistake. I'd estimate we spent over $700 on the box and installation. It lasted 3 months before he ran it over. Would love some thoughts. Tough to be neighborly with someone so inconsiderate and dishonest.

New manager editing timesheet to pay me less

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 05:44 AM PDT

Had a recent change in management at company I work for and already off to a bad start. I've begun to notice that my new manager keeps going back to edit timesheets for me to reflect that I worked less hours than I actually did. Ex: I worked 8 hrs, they'd change it 4hrs.

What really pisses me off is that for some days they've gone back and edited the time sheet to say I didn't work at all that day which absolutely absurd, I'm not going to work a full day and not get paid. In addition to this they've gone ahead and written me up, accusing me of missing days and they've added points to my attendance for it (at this job if you get to a certain amount of points you get fired)

What can I possibly do? I'm sure this is illegal. It has to be right? I'm not getting paid for time I worked and they're fabricating evidence. Can't really talk to HR as this new manager is also HR for some strange reason

[FL] Legal Malpractice? | Misinformed about will

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 12:10 PM PDT

Long story short, my grandmother died of Covid a few months ago.

My Dad is the executor of her will and understood all of what Gma wanted when she passed. After her passing, my Dad got in touch with the attorney that was hired to handle the will and was told that the will detailed out a COMPLETELY different plan than my Dad believed was supposed to happen. Originally, he thought his sister would be left everything (Gma's primary residence, car, and what was left in the bank after paying for funeral expenses). The lawyer communicated to him that this was not what the will stated, and that everything was to be liquidated and split between the 5 living siblings. This came at a big shock to my Dad.

Fast forward a month - my Dad has liquidated everything in the apartment, paid for funeral expenses from his own pocket, and is under contract to sell the house. Then the lawyer calls and says she's "made a small mistake" and that she didn't read the will correctly - everything was INDEED supposed to go to my Dad's sister as he originally thought.

Right now, he's thinking he's completely out the costs he paid for the funeral as well having to inform each of his siblings they WONT be inheriting anything after all - leaving him in a huge pickle.

My advice to him was to get a legal malpractice lawyer ASAP and find out if there's anything he can do. Any advice?

    Social security number not found?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 10:57 AM PDT

We are in Texas if that makes a difference. Might be the wrong sub. My sister (19F) is trying to apply for a job and on her background check it came back as an invalid social security number. This is in fact her social security number, and she has the card to prove it. She tried to make a credit karma account and an account with experian and got the same error: "your information does not match bureau records." She was born in Texas to parents also born in Texas. No reason for a mix up that we can think of. What does this mean and how do you fix?

[Los Angeles County, CA] Apartment buliding owner hired roofers who caused a fire that ruined all my belongings. Not sure what to do.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 12:40 PM PDT

This past Labor Day, I was walking up to my apartment and one of the roofers met me at my door. They had been torching down a new roof the past few days. He explained they caused a fire on the roof below my new AC unit, but managed to put it out and came to see if everything was okay with my apartment. It wasn't.

I opened my door with him there, and it was a wall of smoke (no actual fire inside the apt). The fire was under the roof, about a foot above my ceiling, right in front of my 3ft wide AC vent in the living room. They never disconnected my AC, so it was on blowing and circulating the smoke and all the chemicals from them extinguishing the fire. I asked him how long since the fire started before he came to check on the apt, and he said at least 45min. And they never called the fire dept.

So I call the FD, they come and check the apartment while breaking thru the drywall in areas to make sure the fire is out. I ask the fire captain for advice because I have Renter's Insurance, and he says that's not what Renter's Insurance is for. The owner hired the workers, the workers caused the fire; so the workers and the owner are liable for damage to all your belongings. He told me I should be able to file a claim with the owner's insurance.

So the owner calls a restoration company and they come out and setup their air cleaning machines the next day. Restoration company guy tells me he's waiting for a call from the independent insurance adjuster before he proceeds with cleaning and fixing all the damage to the apartment-- and then asks what would I like to do with my belongings since they also clean/restore furniture. I tell him absolutely not, my stuff is smoke damaged AND filled with dry chemicals from the roofers' extinguishers, it's a loss and needs to be replaced. (I have a toddler, and I'm not exposing him to any of that.)

Restoration guy calls today and says he spoke with the adjuster and that they'd like to start their work tomorrow. I tell him I'm not comfortable with anyone touching/moving/disposing my stuff before I have some reassurance that I'm going to be reimbursed for everything.

So I text the owner for the number to the independent adjuster, and finally get ahold of him a few minutes ago. He tells me he was hired by the owner's insurance to only go over all the damage done to the inside of the unit and doesn't know if there is Liability insurance on the policy that covers my personal belongings, but he will try to check and get back to me within the next week.

I also called my Renter's Insurance to file a claim when this happened and they said they'd follow up within 24-72 hrs, but still haven't emailed/called/texted me and it's been 7 days. (And I honestly don't think my coverage amount is enough to replace everything anyways.)

Do I sit and just wait to hear back while being newly homeless?

Do I call an attorney and start suing all parties involved? I actually called a "smoke damage" attorney the day after the fire, but the client intake person said they only take cases after an insurance company denies a claim.

I'm sorry for such a crazy long wall of text, I just have no idea what to do.

Edit: I took video as soon as I opened the door, and took alot of pictures of everything after the FD left.

G2A not giving me back my money, wich they already took 10% of.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 01:44 PM PDT

INFO: Currently residing in the Netherlands

    Dear lawyers or law fanatics,

Back in 2020 I bought a megalodon shark card off of G2A.com. (Please don't judge me)

I did not get the key that should have been provided so as anyone would do, I contacted the seller. I explained what happened, and asked for my options. The only thing they could really do is get me a refund. So, fine I thought. After this I kept checking my bank account for a couple of weeks to see if I finally got my money back. Spoiler; I didn't. Eventually I reached out to G2A support for information. They told me they deposited this money to my G2A balance. Here I had to fill out a form with bank information. To get my money back, of course. Why wouldn't I right? I want those 30 euros back. Eventually I got my form back, saying it was rejected. Again I messaged G2A support for my money to be deposited back to my bank account. Can't do they said, so they sent me back to that form. Along with some other options. I forgot about this money, until today. I reread the support ticket, and saw that there were some other options allowed. One of these was Skrill. So I got my account setup. I had to deposit 1 euro to get my account activated or something and tried to get my money back, still couldn't. The option of Skrill wasn't allowed.

Along with these transaction issues I found some other things out. I was inactive on the G2A platform for a long while because of this experience. Therefore they decided to charge me 1 euro of inactivity fees. Along with this I found out when I tried to withdraw with Skrill that G2A needs about 1.30 euros of transaction fees. So in total, plus the activation of my Skrill account I payed a total of about 3.30 euros in fees and whatnot. That is more then 10% of the refund I should have gotten. I know in these figures it's not much. But imagine someone with 300 euros, or say 30.000 getting 10% deducted because G2A doesn't comply with the refund.

I made this post because I'm wondering if there's anything I can do, among anything I was wondering if this has some legal issues to it too. If so I want to report this company to the correct Dutch establishment.

TL;DR Wanted a refund, lost 10% of my money I don't even have back yet. Now salty about the situation and asking for options.

I look forward to seeing responses.

    Blackmail at school

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 02:31 PM PDT

    Hello Reddit.

I am a university student that's being blackmailed and threatened, harassed by a former friend of mine who goes to the same university. As a freshman I conducted academic dishonesty and he has helped me with it, I am aware that I did something wrong and I violated my university's code of honor. The past few months, this "friend" has blackmailed me with evidence of my academic dishonesty and since then made me maintain a relationship with them or else they will report me and ultimately get me expelled.

I decided to end this for good last week by blocking him on all social media, since then I have gotten over 15 different phone numbers and texts, over 20 emails, different instagram accounts etc. He's had other people reach out to me to try to get me to talk to them. I have evidence of all of this. I told him that I could not maintain a friendship with them, that it was too toxic and I need the harassment to stop. They have not listened and continued to email me trying to scare me into reaching out to them and "mending" our friendship. They have also threatened me with suicide, saying if I leave them they will do it and at one point I told them I would email my professors myself, as I do not want the blackmail to happen anymore and they threatened me by saying they do not want me to ruin my own life and that they will do it if I take matters into my own hands. They are highly unstable and have mental problems, had a history of going to psych wards etc.

I am under a lot of pressure obviously and would like to gain some insight on how to handle this. I am planning on meeting one of my professors to confess and tell them about the situation, in hopes I can get the harassment to stop, but I am also scared of what will happen to me and my future. I cannot and will not consider the idea of talking to him and fixing things, as it is too late for that. I understand, consider everything that I have done, I will most likely be facing suspension or expulsion, but I want some last minute advice before I do anything. Thank you all.

Got a Parking Citation for Vehicle I sold 2 months ago

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 02:07 PM PDT

So yesterday I got a parking citation in the mail for a vehicle I don't own anymore. I sold it 2 months ago. I did everything I needed to and mailed the dmv a release of liability form. The vehicle had old Oregon plates and I'm now in CA. Transferring and registering the car was up to the new owner. I went to the dmv to see if my release of liability went through and showed them the copy of the form and they said the vehicle isn't registered in the name of the guy I sold it to. He did mention he was maybe gonna give it to his brother though. I guess he didn't take off the plates. But maybe got it transferred between when they got the ticket and now.

I appealed the citation online and sent them a copy of the release of liability form. My question is how likely is this case to get dropped? I did everything I needed to so I don't think paying this ticket should be my responsibility.

If an employer gave me an interview and said that I am contracted even though I have not signed anything, am I really contracted?

I have an upcoming interview at a much more beneficial place, and I'm wondering if I'm accepted to it, am I forced to go to the first job I was interviewed at?

Office regularly smells like sewage for days at a time and after a year, has not been fixed

    Posted: 15 Sep 2021 09:06 AM PDT

The office building I work in regularly smells like sewage all over the building, but more so on the side where I sit. The smell lasts all day and will persist for several days at a time. I'd say in any given month, the place reeks for at least 2 weeks and we all sit and breathe this in all day.

Everything I've googled says it's harmful to inhale sewer gasses for a prolonged time, which we are all definitely doing. When I get home, I can smell it on my clothes and in my hair.

Building management is well aware of this problem, which apparently started after the break room was renovated, but as far as I know, nothing has been done to fix it. I've worked here for a year and this has been happening the whole time. It's basically just an accepted thing that this building reeks of sewage.

Is this some kind of violation of something to make us all sit in this all day? I clicked around on OSHA's website but I'm not really sure what it's telling me about this (other than it is harmful). It is especially pungent today and I can't take this anymore!

    Location is Illinois.
