Not All Industry Jobs are Cushy Gigs Posted: 29 Sep 2021 12:20 PM PDT Anyone else work in industry and it's NOT a cushy gig? Feel like this app needs some balanced perspectives i work at a Fortune 500 and have worked a few 70+ hour weeks with my typically weekly being 50 to 55. Work is often challenging and new (very few repeats but even with that, it's always how can i improve the process). the monetary compensation does make it better though (bi yearly bonuses, comp adjustments, etc.) [link] [comments]
i got a 96% on my first accounting exam! Posted: 29 Sep 2021 12:59 PM PDT i was worried i was gonna tank it but nope! the class avg was an 86. the class only had four As and all of us sit in the front hahaha. our professor showed exam averages from previous semesters, and statistically 3/4 of the class will stop showing up to lectures and exam scores will plummet. Really want a PhD in Accounting. Is that a dumb or a realistic goal to have? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 05:48 PM PDT I love academia! So much so I was sad when I graduated from and could no longer be a Graduate Assistant. I want to go back to school when I'm 28/29 for a PhD in Accounting. Is it worth having that type of goal anymore? I've heard there is a shortage of Accounting professors and it's something I'd love to pursue. I love the research part of academia. How fast have you seen someone rise to CFO Posted: 29 Sep 2021 06:01 AM PDT Hi guys Basically the question above. How fast did you see someone progress to CFO for small to medium or large companies? What was their background? What did they do right? Or was it right place at the right time? I know Kraft Heinz had one at 29 years for a short period though. This is what l want in the next 5 years and have 4 years Big 4 Audit background in the EU and potentially heading off to an M7 or T15 MBA in 2022. Post MBA not interested in Banking or Consulting but rather Corp Finance roles. [link] [comments]
can a deaf person succeed in accounting ? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 03:28 PM PDT i'm deaf, interested in accounting (business accounting ) but i'm scared to study it since it involves a lot of phone calls, should i study it? do you know any hard-of-hearing co-workers who worked in this field? Putting in my two weeks in Monday Posted: 29 Sep 2021 07:12 AM PDT That's it. Don't know where I'll end up but my sanity is worth more than this place. I can already see my boss asking why and trying to get me a raise but nah. I been waiting for a raise since months ago when we did a review. I'm out. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2021 09:46 PM PDT Sorry for the rant but just needed to say this job sucks, only a week in and all anyone can say is "oh get ready to work. honestly why in the actual fuck did I choose this career, been applying to literally anything slightly business related and just constant rejections. Feeling so lost and hopeless rn, so much for the versatile degree fuck this [link] [comments]
Anyone ever run for their condo or homeowners association? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 05:43 PM PDT Here I was thinking co-owners of my condo association would love to have a CPA on the board to have oversight of a $600k annual budget and the overall finances of the association. Oh how impeccably naïve I was in thinking that. The co-owners didn't even vote in one person with a financial background. Sometimes I think people are just fucking morons. Please tell me I'm not overreacting. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2021 07:21 PM PDT I was at a Becker information meeting. California just passed a new law that Students that are 6 months (180 days) away from graduation can now apply to sit in the exam. Starting January 1st. Fyi. [link] [comments]

As a big 4 auditor, is it difficult to get exit opps that are not in my industry group? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 09:46 PM PDT I work in audit at Big 4 and got assigned to a Financial Services industry group, but I heard this is a specialized industry and I'm worried I will be pigeonholed. I don't want to work in financial services after leaving Big 4. How difficult would it be to find jobs in other industries? Is the experience transferable? [link] [comments]

Do firms reimburse by the miles or by expenses? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 07:48 PM PDT Thinking of getting a corolla hybrid. But does big 4 in general reimburse for gas by the miles or by cost? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Sep 2021 06:25 PM PDT I just had a first-round interview where I assumed they already had my resumes submitted to them, so I just showed up in interview attire. First thing they asked was if I had my resume with me since they didn't print them out, then when I said no they just pulled it up on their computer. Did I make a big mistake here? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 07:22 PM PDT Should I ask my supervisor before I do this? HR? Idk I've only been in this position for 3 months and don't want to risk anything I'm really comfortable [link] [comments]
Auditing public vs private companies in big4 Posted: 29 Sep 2021 08:42 PM PDT How are you handling your work/social life? I guess opportunities out of public would be better though. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2021 06:07 PM PDT Got an interview for a full time tax associate position with B4. I've never had a B4 interview before and am very nervous. I know people say to keep it conversational, but I also know I have to remain professional. I'm not sure what the line is between being friendly and conversational and being too friendly and conversational. How can I keep it conversational? What are some examples of a scenario that might lead to a "conversation"/deviation from the Q/A? Is it okay to ask questions in the middle of the interview if something they say catches my attention? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2021 07:39 PM PDT Hi, I recently started studying accounting doing AAT (I believe its UK specific), it is regarded as a good way to begin a career, im doing the level 2 Foundation (there are levels 1-4 I believe, not sure about 1 though). After passing this qualification will I be able to find a job in accounting and carry on doing evening classes to get my level 3 and level 4 in aat. Also how likely is it that a company pays for these qualifications and any further ones? Also any other general advice is helpful. I have watched plenty of videos by Accounting Stuff on YouTube and was wondering if there are any other helpful resources I could use. Thanks in advance for any advice. [link] [comments] |
