What's your outlook on the stock market as a whole with climbing covid cases?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 04:01 PM PDT

I'm fairly new to investing (~1 year). I wanted to gain some insight and hear some opinions from you experienced investors on your short-term outlook for the market as a whole with all this news of rising covid cases.

I've heard that another lockdown is NOT expected to happen, but my intuition tells me that reinstating mask mandates and reinstituting CDC guidelines could potentially drag the market down due to overall pessimism across the country.

I've got some leisure/travel stocks that I bought last March when prices plummeted and I have a feeling like those will be some of the first to get hit for a second time.

    Thoughts?

Not financial advice. Thanks in advance.

    Am I making a bad bet ?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:50 PM PDT

Alright first of all ... my thesis its that there is gonna be a market crash in a period of 6 months , for some of you right know Im an idiot , but its not what I want to discuss, its about if my hedge thesis is correct or Im being just dumb.

There are 2 leveraged etfs that are bearish on 2 different commodities

    $DUST (gold) $DRIP (oil)

My main focus would be on $DRIP since it was the one that had over 4000% when corona hit and the negative price came, of course I know that this prob not gonna happen anymore , but has a -50% year average return that can be compensated with $SPXS ( leveraged ETF of SP) that yields aprox 30-50% per year so it represents like 35% of my portfolio and anualy I woud recieve 5% of return( I know boomer move but still ) until shit hits the fan and JPOW had to decide in either converting the USD into monopoly bills ( In which case the SP will double just like when nixon shut down the bretton Woods) or finally starting the great depression 2.0.

I want to know if Im an idiot cause prob this market crash wont be the same as the corona one , and even if this also happened on the 08 crash , I still think that theres a chance that oil wont take a big hit, since in the dot com bubble it kind of didnt ... I mean in every market crash theres a big selloff , and if the rates are increased a short period of deflation has to come bringing the price down even for a few days ... I think Im missing something , so feel free to insult me in the most constructive way.

RSLS $ReShape Lifesciences Inc. Everything is looking good. Tomorrow we need to break a resistance at ~4.08 (an old support level and 55 days moving average), and stay over that level. MACD is turning green even on the one year chart, so price will go up as well.

I calculated the intrinsic value of big tech stocks, using the latest Q2 earnings. Here is what I found

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 02:04 PM PDT

I took the latest numbers from Q2 earning calls of big tech stocks and I ran a discounted cash flow valuation to determine the fair value and my entry price of each stock.

    Link to video: https://youtu.be/QMs2CoXMvB0

    Conclusions:

    - Microsoft and Visa are currently overvalued by 30-40% for a 15% yearly return on investment

    - Facebook and Amazon are fairly valued for a 15% yearly return on investment

    - Apple and Qualcomm are undervalued by 16-18% for a for a 15% yearly return on investment

    - Intel, AMD and Google are severely undervalued by 32-49% for a 15% yearly return on investment

Would love to hear feedbacks on what is your entry price for these stocks and what you consider undervalued

Still too high to follow anything on the market? Busy sleeping still?
We already sorted it out for ya. Here's what you need. You're welcome.
"Don't kill my high because you're low." — Unknown stoner on stoner quote.

    Bitcoin
    - On 7/26, AMZN officially denied the rumor of Amazon planning on taking Bitcoin as payment. Sending Bitcoin back to its place. What a great example of buy on rumor sell on news.

    Major Index
    - Major indexes didn't change much last week. However, all three closed higher than the previous month, for six months in a row. Things are looking really good. Almost too good.

    Other Index - IWM
    - Small-caps are still struggling, as Russell 2000(IWM), a tracker of small-caps performance, closed 3.77 lower for the month. The weak are weaker.

    Q2 Real GDP
    - Q2 Real GDP grew at 6.5%, lower than the expected 8.4 forecast. Mostly due to insufficient inventories, housing.

    Q3 Financial Report
    - The five largest companies: AAPL, AMZN, MSFT, Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG) and FB all revealed their earnings, all of them exceeded expectations. Harder, better, faster, stronger.

    FED
    - Fed Decides to Keep Interest Rates at 0.25% and claims inflation is only temporary due to supply shortages. What do you guys think? Is it temporary? Or something else is going on? Give me your best conspiracy theories.

    Chinese Stock
    - Chinese stocks are still being bullied by the Chinese government as they continue with further restrictions and delisting threats on stocks such as DIDI, BABA, JD, FUTU, etc. Stop loss execution is A MUST if you're trying to invest in Chinese stocks.

    Nikola Motors
    - Founder and former CEO of Nikola Motors, Trevor Milton was charged with multiple fraud regarding "nearly all aspects of the business" NKLA stock went down 15.22 after the news.

    Uber
    - 45 million shares of Uber were sold by Softbank in order to cover their lost on DIDI. Uber is down 8.43% for the week. Poor Uber. Anyone else still holding DIDI?

    Robinhood
    - Robinhood (HOOD) went IPO on 7/29. Yep, still not touching it. Not even when I'm high.

I'll keep my eye on the volume this week. I kinda expect a nice growing trend on all indexes due to the upcoming reports, which I think will do well. However, if the market went too crazy and too optimistic, then I'll play a little bit safer.

    What news affect stock prices?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:10 PM PDT

Im a Novice Swing Trader so im definitely here to get advice and in turn, improve my trades.

One question I've had a a lot of trouble getting answered is "What news affect stock prices?"

I understand thus far that most of the time news are already priced in by institutions who do most of the trading and we as retail investors will always be behind the curve since they would already be aware of the news beforehand.

The only exceptions I have seen so far would be Earning Reports and FDAs since these are only confirmed on the day itself when announced and there would not be much of a time lag between when institutions and retail investors receive these news.( could be entirely wrong here)

My main goal here would be wanting to know what news are catalysts for stock prices to rise and what news causes prices to dip AND they aren't already priced in.

Thank you for your time should you reply to this post!

    How’s my portfolio.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:24 PM PDT

First off I'm gonna preface this buy saying I know Robinhood isn't everyone's brokerage of choice and neither is it for me. However it's what's only available to me because I'm using my brothers old account. I know I could set up a custodial account but my parents no nothing about investing and I didn't wanna go through the hassle of setting up a custodial account. 24%APPL

    24%APPL

    14.7%MSFT

    14.11% DIS

    7.59% VXUS

    28.19% VTI

    11.04% In B.T..C

I'm 15 so it's not a lot of money only 700 dollars but I feel it's a good start lmk of any suggestions. Also i know I'm pretty heavy in tech but I think it's fair given the fact I can afford to be more bullish given my youth. I am looking to diversify so any recommendations on what sectors to go into and how to go into them.
