Or do you track all transactions that net-new client brings in the year they become a net-new client? Example. New client initial purchase is $100k. Cold calls - how to actually connect with people? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:50 PM PDT We are trying hard to make calling a bigger part of our outbound process at the moment, but the connection rates are so low. Historically, we have relied on very personalised email, but we want to be a bit more proactive now. People always talk about how the phone is the number one tool. It's not that I don't believe that it can be the case, I just don't understand how people are speaking with enough people to make it so. We build all of our data lists ourselves and use a number of tools to find email addresses, along with using Apollo to find cell numbers. Apollo is pretty expensive for this, but the connection rate is still terrible. My question is, when you are building the process in a small company, how do you set it up for success so that people can actually speak with prospects? [link] [comments] |

I'm interested into working on the sales sides and I just had a few questions What is the best way to break in- should I get some lab experience/ do an honours in biotech to become more familiar. Is there an area of sales everyone has to go through in order to go to other areas of sales. eg how most accountants have to do a few years in public accounting before they go private Will my experience in sales be enough to set me apart- I work in a high end shoe shops selling shoes from 200-600. I also was a Mormon missionary as well if anyone knows what that is as it basically is selling something Last of all how did you know if you are cut out for sales eg what kind of personality do you need and what is the stress like? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 11:22 AM PDT New to a comission based job (construction). Set up an LLC for a potentially lucrative time here. As per my contract for this company, I subcontract and make 10% of the total dollar amount for contract. So if it's a 10,000 dollar deal, I should make 1,000 to my LLC. They are telling me that my comission is after overhead costs. Is this correct? So they take 12% for the overhead costs and SUBTRACT it from the total contract amount. Then I get 10% of the smaller number. Is this correct? Why aren't they subtracted jointly? They will make the same 12% either way. [link] [comments] |

What does it mean if an employer asks 'In which area did you acquire deep domain expertise in the last year or two?' in the context of sales? Does it mean if I gained expertise in a specific vertical or how I acquired sales expertise? The latter is a bit more complicated as sales depends on numerous levels of expertise. Will I look like a job hopper? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 09:39 AM PDT Graduated college and got a sales position at a logistics company. Was there for a little over a year and then COVID happened and they laid off 1500 sales people, myself included. Was stressed out about not having a job, but received an offer within a completely new industry. Bump in pay, seemingly better commission structure, good product. Been here a little over a year now and I'm miserable. The commission money they promised I would make if I hit on target is not here. And not because I'm not hitting target, because I am. But because our supply chain is so fucked up, and I don't get commission until the customer pays. And the customer doesn't pay until the product ships. Some of the stuff I am selling is not even going to be able to ship until next year or the the end of the year. It's completely de-motivating. I've gone months in a row with incredibly low commission checks. Because of this, there has been quite a lot of turnover with other reps. But those reps had been here 2-4 years. I'm worried that my resume is going to make me look like a job hopper and deter me from even getting interviews.

Inbound sales insurance job discrimination Posted: 04 Aug 2021 09:01 AM PDT I feel I'm getting routed worse leads than everyone, I'm licensed in 25+ states with more states coming in as they are approved but 85% of my calls are from one state. A state that is notoriously bad for "shoppers", uninsurable people and high rates. Meanwhile my colleague across the country (we are all remote) get sales from all over the country. My wait time between calls is like 5-15 minutes as well. Of course I bring this up to superiors and they say no, it's all just luck of the draw blah. Blah Am I being pushed out ? What do you use to manage expense reporting? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 08:56 AM PDT My company uses an excel doc template that is such a pain in the ass. It takes forever and I always seem to push it off. I just expensed about 2.5-3 months worth of travel expenses on my most recent report and got chewed out by my boss for not doing it monthly. Anyone use any apps that help you manage receipts/travel dates/etc more efficiently so I don't have to spend 1-2 hours digging though emails and receipts to upload everything? [link] [comments] |

Starting to bring in some deals but turns out there are so many ways for people to be disqualified from using our system. We're a financial services company that serves a high risk industry so we have to vet our clients back grounds, gather an insane amount of docs, etc. I worked hard to bring in a few deals and none of them might be able to go on our system for varying reasons like previous criminal history, addresses not matching licenses, etc. Things that are outside of my control. It's frustrating to have worked on these deals for so long and now we may have to tell these people to walk and I won't see commission on them. Does anyone else work in a role like this? My old job (hr and payroll) was not this over the top with verifying so much info. I'm so frustrated about the wasted time and effort selling these people on using us and now have to tell them "we're not a fit." [link] [comments] |

The only requirement is that I live near a major/mid sized airport for when I do start traveling again to see my clients. I am young (23) and single with nothing holding me down to my current city. With the opportunity to work remote I want to live a digital nomadic lifestyle of moving around to different US cities. I'm thinking of staying in a city for roughly 6 months before moving to the next. My question is, does anyone else do something similar, and if so how do you like it? Recently got an offer to be a Sales Manager+Closer for an up and coming SaaS startup backed by Nexus Ventures (same guys that backed PayTM at seed stage). I would be managing a territory of India (north, south, east or west) with a team of 4-5 SDR's under me.
My goals are - 1. Moneyyy (ofc) 2. Climbing the ladder quick. 3. Mastering the craft of sales as early as possible. Would really appreciate your advice on how I should evaluate this decision. Should I take the risk and join the startup, potentially being one of their early guys in case they blow up? Or should I stay here, safe and comfortable with a definite trajectory ahead? I just joined an MSP and they have a CEO bottleneck, never had an actual "sales person" in 25 years. No previous territory or script, have the assistant doing marketing (barely at that) old website & no SEO. We can't use customer names in calls (wants to keep identity private. In 25 years he's grown mostly off word of mouth and his work. We have "sales coaches" who agree these are all areas we need to be successful as reps. All we have right now is zoominfo, and we I get on cold calls they say "we're good" "who do you work with? (I can't say because CEO requests that)" etc… email hasn't worked at all either. I'm wondering what my approach should be? Should I just keep pounding the phone? What tools might help with my sales cadence and being successful? Don't like working as a Sales Ops Analyst, where can I go from here? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 06:11 AM PDT Hey guys, I graduated from a Business Admin degree and straight after started my job as Sales Ops Analyst in a B2B SaaS business. I've been doing this for 2 years and there are a few things that I really enjoy about the job like building the sales playbooks, onboarding and training new hires. I also like managing the Sales Tech stack and the sales tools and training other people, sharing best practices and such. I even enjoy working with Salesforce as an accidental admin fixing process builders, creating validations, improving page layouts etc. However, the is a big part of the job that I absolutely HATE. I hate dealing with data so things like KPI books, Market sizing exercises, cleaning, bulk updating and bulk uploading data. Helping marketing clean contact data sets and in the future I'll be taking on comp plans, headcount calculations, territory management. I absolutely despise working with Excel and going through data sets, it drives me nuts and bores me to death. Not that I'm bad at using excel I just dont like staring into excel sheets for hours on end. I prefer working with people and fixing problems as stated above. Is there any position out there in the job market that plays to my strengths like above? If not, I was either thinking taking my SFDC certificates as an admin and then eventually as a developer and specialising in that route or just ditching it all and working my way around people as an SDR / BDR first then AE or Account manager and then using that experience to train salespeople in the future. Posted: 04 Aug 2021 02:13 AM PDT I have a very qualified software engineering background (Prior Amazon employee engineer, senior /team lead engineer at bay area unicorn, currently a staff engineer at large public Bay Area company....) and also have a background in doing corporate software engineer training. In addition to teaching the courses, I was frequently part of the pre-sales and scoping calls. Curious to try out sales at some point before I retire. Would I be able to leverage my existing experience into an AE role and skip over being an SDR / BDR? Specifically in a SaaS / enterprise software company with a very technical product. I imagine sales engineering could be another path in. I'd rather be an AE... but perhaps sales engineering would be a more realistic path and preferred over starting as an SDR? Main thing being I'd really like to eat what I kill. AFAIK AEs get to do that more so than the other roles. This is all pretty speculative and exploratory at this point in time for. I imagine it wouldn't be realistic to get my current pay day 1, but I'd like to avoid completely starting over if possible Thanks! [link] [comments] |
