Heavily Tattooed Exposed to Partner Posted: 28 Aug 2021 09:01 AM PDT Last weekend I went out with some friends from college in a city over an hour away from my firm's office. My friends and I are having a few drinks at a bar and things are going great until I hear somebody calling my name. I turn around to the biggest hardo partner in my office. What are the chances. I am covered in tattoos, but they are easily hidden in my work attire. I was wearing a t-shirt. Whoops. He did seem genuinely happy to see me, but still not the best circumstances. Do partners care about this type of thing outside of work? [link] [comments]

Is brain damage a job requirement for partners? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 09:46 AM PDT Not a single review comment or email has been sent without a typo or absurd spelling error since I started. I'm not even sure they know how to read. [link] [comments]
Would you care if you got fired? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 04:30 PM PDT Over the past couple months, I noticed that my motivation has gone down considerably at my job. I have been at my job close to two years and I don't like my boss (he is toxic, a work alcoholic, and doesn't have my best interest in his mind). All that said, I'm not sure if he has noticed, as I still complete my tasks on time and usually without issue. I am currently on the job market and have interviewed for a couple positions, but I haven't found the right fit. I want to note that I'm being picky because I don't want to end up in a similar position that I'm in now. Additionally, the positions I have interviewed for seemed like they would be a step back in my career, as the compensation was less than I'm making now ($85k as a CPA with 2 years in public and 2 years in industry). Therefore, I am worried that before I find the right opportunity, I may be fired. I'm 27, single, and have enough money saved up to cover my expenses for a year or more (healthcare would be a problem though). I don't necessarily care if I get fired, but I'd feel like my ego would take a huge hit and I'd panic even though I have a decent emergency fund. Has anyone been fired? If so, how did you bounce back? [link] [comments]
Is it worth pursuing Programming/Computer Science in addition to Accounting? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:58 PM PDT I'm an Accounting major, but have started a Programming class this semester and am finding that I really enjoy it. I don't necessarily dislike my Accounting classes but it doesn't hit the spot to me like programming does. However, I have a lot of business and accounting classes under my belt that I would not like to waste and I don't mind the idea of going into Accounting in general. Is it worth double majoring in Accounting/Programming for work in things like AIS? Or can I accomplish the same just with a Programming Minor? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Is there a stigma around around using all your PTO at the big 4? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:56 PM PDT I start with one of the Big 4 in tax in January 2022, and I am starting with 20 paid vacation days. Will I be looked down upon poorly if I use all 20 days during the year? What is the culture, and what are the unspoken rules, about using vacation days? Does using all your vacation days work against you when it comes time for promotion? [link] [comments]
Need tips. A beginner in accounting. Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:36 PM PDT I am in my junior year at Texas state. I'm getting my bachelors in accounting and I have no experience actually working in accounting. All my knowledge is based on books and online and I really only know the basics of accounting. So can any experienced accountants that work from home or in office tell me what I should practice or have Down so I'm ready for a job in accounting. Please and thank you. [link] [comments]
How much finance work do you actually have to do in the real world? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:14 PM PDT Everything finance related that's come up in my coursework has just been a nightmare. Not even Farhat could save me. I just want to debit and credit, man. I don't give a fuck about pensions or time value of money. If i was good at math I'd have done engineering instead. Posted: 28 Aug 2021 03:25 PM PDT I'm not sure if I would seriously entertain starting my own firm but the thought has crossed my mind. Definitely a decision to make down the road. I'm early on in my PA experience but do some specialities stand out over others? [link] [comments]
What resources can I utilize to learn bank recs? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 08:45 PM PDT I've advanced my career and all but so far I've been lucky enough to not have to do bank recs. I wish I could make this up but I've really got to learn them. I've watched some YouTube videos but it isn't clicking. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2021 12:20 PM PDT Lets say I have a product for $100. And if the customer chooses to pay thru credit card the bank takes 2% of what is paid. Thus $2. Now this $2 is paid from my pocket making me sell the product for $99 than $100. How can I make the customer pay that $2. Because if i charge $102. Bank still takes 2% thus charging $2.02 which is still a loss. Is there any way to prevent it? Some mathematical formula? [link] [comments]

Question for those who were early promoted to senior Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:26 PM PDT What are some tasks you took on as a high performing 2nd year? I've always heard you get more work without the senior pay, but I'm curious how the work differs, if it does, from what an average 2nd year would be doing. Thanks in advance for the insight! Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:29 PM PDT Hi everyone, I was recently given a tentative offer for a revenue agent role with the IRS. I remember that during my interview, I was provided a handful of locations I applied for that I ranked. I ended up getting placed somewhere that wasn't in my top choices. I have to reply to the offer soon. Can I ask to be considered for other locations, or is it possible to transfer to other locations after some time working there? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Does my Accounts Payable work experience count as CPA's work experience? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:24 PM PDT I'm in Canada if that helps. My Accounts Payable job doesn't involve entering invoices and coding them like many others on this sub talks about. All the invoices are matched and entered into the system automatically. Half of my job is to take care of "problematic" invoices, such as invoices with POs that the system doesn't recognize, invoices with POs that have a different supplier name than what's on the invoice, etc. The other half of my job is to respond to emails of people getting stuck in our accounting system. For example maybe they don't know how to process a mismatch, or don't know which GL to post to, or are just generally confused. In this part of my job I sometimes need to recode the GLs (such as sales discount, exchange rate difference, freight etc.) to make sure the invoices are coded accurately in our system, I think that the most "accounting" part of my job. I'm not sure if my work is "complicated" enough to count as CPA professional work experience, can anyone share their opinions? [link] [comments]
