Posted: 11 Aug 2021 03:42 PM PDT I can't believe there was people that actually did it, it seems like such basic principles that it would never happen. I actually saw Accumulated Depreciation - Land on the balance sheet. I'm actually mind blown because I always thought it was a joke for Reddit. Anyway that was a fun day now I need to quit PA [link] [comments]

PwC pushes full office return back to November 1st. Posted: 11 Aug 2021 01:51 PM PDT Per today's webcast the full office return which was planned for mid September was pushed back to November due to delta concerns. Soft office openings will occur September 13th. People who want to go in to the office can,but nobody is required to. Also of note is PwC is considering all options in regards to a vaccine mandate. Company is sending out a vaccine survey to understand percentage vaccinated. [link] [comments]

Just a quick thank you to everyone, I got the job! Posted: 11 Aug 2021 08:27 PM PDT For starters, I made a couple of posts (found here and here) and, as of today, I have accepted the job! For those in my first post where I asked about the role, thank you for giving me the advice and encouragement to pursue this role (although it isn't what I plan on doing, you have to start somewhere!). For those in my second post who gave me tips for what to wear for the tour, it all helped out as well! They were glad to see me not come in raggedy clothes and still stay professional. I won't keep anyone any longer, I just wanted to throw out a quick thanks for all the support, encouragement, and knowledge that you all threw my way (big or small, it all helped!). Stay safe everyone [link] [comments]

What would it take for you to stay in PA? Posted: 11 Aug 2021 07:26 AM PDT Like the title suggests, what would it take for you to stay in public accounting? As it looks like from the recent compensation threads, even with good raises, people are still leaving in large numbers. I've been reading books from the mid 2000s and employee retention was an issue then. And a 2015 study stated that the industry has an average turn over of 17% annually and if anything, it seems like it has increased since then. And it looks like we may have hit a point where there will not continue to be fresh waves of bodies to fill empty spots, as the number of CPAs has remained level over the past 9 years (https://ipassthecpaexam.com/number-of-cpa/) for a variety of reasons, and if so, it will increase pressure on those that remain in public. So, as someone that likes public, what could be changed so that more people stay in it? And I'll take suggests as to what you personally would want changed or overall suggestions about the industry or firms. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Aug 2021 06:48 PM PDT I'm considering leaving Deloitte (advisory specifically) after 1 year. During the pandemic when they pushed everyone's start date back, they also changed the job title from consultant down to analyst. Now I'm watching people who are younger than me or the same age as me that did audit for 1 year transfer into my group at a level above me. Seems unfair that I have the technical experience in this group but because I got demoted they get to come in above me. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
I hit my breaking point. Screw all of this, I want out. Posted: 11 Aug 2021 10:55 AM PDT I can't take this anymore Call me a quitter, I don't fucking care but Accounting and Big 4 isn't for me. I talked about how this was a mistake here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Accounting/comments/otf27i/what_the_hell_did_i_get_myself_into_a_story_of_a/h6vni3y/?context=3 And boy did it get worse only 2 weeks later Idk if it was the fever dream from the after effects of my J&J vaccine shot that finally broke me but I hate all of this.
Overall, it's just awful. I don't find anything interesting. I got fucked on my investments thanks to Independence. I don't know anyone except for my contact who got me into this role. I'm mostly pissed at myself because I only got into this because my contact (a friend) referred me (maybe it was just to get the FAT referral bonus on their end) but like, WTF, why did you think this was gonna work out? It's like, don't you know me? I also feel super bad cuz another friend of mine (former Big 4 accountant with a CPA) told me not to get into Big 4 and just take the other job offer I had but I just ignored them. Fuck I wish I had taken that other offer. I really wanted to give this a year to see what my raise and bonus was going to be but why bother when I'm not going to want to be in a Accounting career anyway. As far as I'm concerned, it's a waste of time when I can be working somewhere getting the experience I need to be better in that career field. So yeah, fuck me, I gotta start sending out resumes en masse and hopefully the recruiters/hiring managers will understand why I'm trying to leave a job that I have only been 2 months at. Posted: 11 Aug 2021 10:41 AM PDT I'm at a pretty large company in their accounting department and have not been doing pretty much any work for the past 3 weeks I've been here. I've maybe had 2-3 days of full time work. 1 week my manager was out but still. it's just weird to me. Should I ask for work or anything? [link] [comments]

I am an industry accountant, NOT a individual tax accountant. Posted: 11 Aug 2021 03:01 PM PDT If you don't know the difference I'm not explaining it. I don't care how we are related. [link] [comments]
Pursuing a Post-Bachelor’s Certificate in Accunting Posted: 11 Aug 2021 09:56 PM PDT I have a degree in Finance from the Philippines and recently got accepted as an International Student for a Post-Bachelor Certificate in Accounting in Calgary, Canada. My question is, is it worth it to get this program? I also have another choice which is another Bachelor's Degree in Management with a major also in Accounting. I'm just wondering if which of these will be more beneficial in landing a job in Accounting firms since I'm planning to migrate and pursue CPA in Canada as well in the future. Thanks for your insights! :) [link] [comments]
