Renters Insurance for 3 people Posted: 02 May 2021 08:53 PM PDT I'm getting ready to move into an apartment for the first time with 2 other roommates. The landlord told us we need one renters insurance policy with the 3 of us listed on it, and I've been struggling finding any insurance company that will make that exception. Has anyone ever been in this situation or have advice on what to do? Edit: living in Southern California, inland empire region [link] [comments] |
Quote increased when I put in Vin Posted: 02 May 2021 06:12 PM PDT I put in a quote with State Farm for a 2017 Corolla XSE, this particular model has all the safety features I could ask for and that insurance companies love. I put in the year and model and with the default settings and I got a reasonable quote. When I put in the VIN number in, the quote increased significantly. Why is this the case? Was it because the car was sitting on a dealer lot or whatever with no insurance and they assumed it wasn't insured for X amount of time? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 May 2021 01:13 AM PDT Hi everybody I have a predicament. I have been in two at fault accidents in the last three years in my personal vehicle, resulting in my company's insurance no longer covering me. I am suspecting that I have a vision issue in my left eye as recently that eye has been getting blurry much faster. I have an apt with an eye doctor but it would be useful to know if I can provide written documentation that I have an issue affecting depth perception that I get treatment for, can that make a difference in whether my company's insurance will consider allowing me on the policy? Posted: 02 May 2021 07:43 PM PDT I'm planning on calling tomorrow but if anyone has experience with this, it'd be helpful to reassure us! Insurance: Anthem BCBS PPO // USA-PA Also: Currently I see OBGYNs as "in-network" but I pay a lot (~$100) while my ins pays $0. Is this because I'm currently a single male on my plan? I'm assuming this will change when my plan changes to +spouse? Do I need to make sure to elect any sort of pregnancy insurance? Also also: If you *do not* think she'll be covered, any suggestions? Use this life event to get her on something ACA-related (edit: we're probably over the income limit for this)? Worst case scenario she'll stay at her job to keep her current benefits, but I'd like to explore all other options. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Do I need insurance on this car? Posted: 03 May 2021 01:35 AM PDT I bought a car for $1,500 but it doesn't run. Just the transmission needs to be fixed. I'm having it get towed to the shop tomorrow morning and my question is does this car need to be insured? Bought from private party. AZ, USA [link] [comments] |
My Vehicle totaled, what should i expect? Posted: 03 May 2021 12:11 AM PDT Hello, I was just in a very bad car accident around four hours ago which was clearly not my fault but cop still gave me a ticket stating i was at fault. To which he stated a lie while giving me the ticket. Now i have to go fight it. My first accident was two decades ago and it was my fault. This is my second accident, but first huge accident and not at fault My other concern and main reason for posting is if my SUV AWD is considered totaled and I'm not at fault. In regards to the Insurance Adjuster, how do they calculate the value of my vehicle. Are they able to get me the exact vehicle with that low of miles with same specifications? Because by year it's old but this vehicle is in excellent condition. 2014 SUV Limited EditionAWD - cost me an estimated 29 thousand dollars, with very low miles of 30K(being overseas military for about 5 years) and never had issues with it. In perfect condition. Or am i going to f on the value of the vehicle? Sorry my message had some venting in it. EDIT: Accident location Washington state and also first owner of new vehicle purchase from dealership. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 08:59 AM PDT This is so frustrating. I have spent way more time on this than I should have needed to. And I'm getting so stressed out. I previously had two health insurances. Let's say I had "Blue" through my mom and "Green" through my dad. My mom's birthday came first in the year, so until 12/31/2020, Blue was my primary insurance and Green was my secondary. This year, my mom did not renew her plan with Blue. My ONLY INSURANCE, as of 1/1/2021 IS GREEN. I have had three in-network visits this year, each of which has been billed to Green, and Green has denied all three claims. The notes say "Please re-submit with primary insurance explanation of benefits." These are in-network providers, and I should only have a co-pay of $10. Now I'm stressing, because it's already been 3 months since the date of service, and I'm looking at a $570 patient responsibility for each of those visits. I called Green four weeks ago and told them to update this. The rep on the other end said she was filling out some kind of form for me, which should update Green as my primary insurance. Then, I got another bill saying the claim was denied AGAIN, and that I should re-submit with a primary EOB. What is going on? I ONLY HAVE ONE INSURANCE NOW. How can I tell them in a way that they'll understand? By the way, only my health/pharmacy/behavioral health insurance did not renew with Blue. I just checked, and my vision/dental are still active through Blue. Maybe that's what's confusing Green. If I send an EOB to Green that tells them what part of the plan is active and what part is not, then they might understand. Do you have any advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 10:52 PM PDT Hi I had a minor bump a couple weeks ago, I was driving behind a lady driving a bmw on a main road a couple weeks ago, as she started to slow down I thought what's she doing? No indicators. So I drove around the passenger side, she started to turn in to a driveway off the main road, and bumped into the side of me. Now I accept i am more to blame as i could have been more aware, but am I fully responsible when she was using no indicators and taking no other side than the fact I should pay the whole bill for her, also it wasn't her car and I don't know if she is insured on the car it's only $500 (New Zealand) I did say I'll pay a bill, but last night I received a message saying she had the quote and wanted me to pay up front, I said I want to see a receipt first. I am fully responsible or am I just being a bit of a people pleaser to avoid any confrontation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 10:10 PM PDT I was in Florida and moved to South Carolina. Now on April 18th, 2021 I got new SC insurance. Then on 4/20/21 I got a new SC License, registration, tag, the whole 9 yards. So I call South Carolina DMV and ask them if everything is now good and tell me that I don't have to do anything else....everything is golden. I then call the Florida DMV, and they tell me everything is golden, and I don't need to do anything else. HOWEVER, I just talked to a friend and did some googling and every article that I am reading tells me that I must surrender my Florida License plate back to Florida within 30 days or else they will put in a request to suspend my license. Absolutely no one at either DMV told me this. So it's only been 13 days since I got a new registration, and 15 days since I got a new registration. So will I have to wait to Florida to send me a form that will take forever to get here and then I have to send that along with my registration and tag to Florida, or is everything taken care of? Is there a PDF that you can print online? I just am not sure what to do right now. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 09:52 PM PDT -Coworker crashes into my 2021 BMW while it was parked behind the office. (I've only had the car for a week at that point). -His insurance (Mercury) agrees he is at fault and is willing to payout. -I did an in-person inspection of the damage at a local collision center of my choice and they estimated it's about $5k worth of damage. -Tried calling the adjuster at Mercury for the better part of the work week, left numerous voicemails, finally got a call back after day 5. -I sent the appraisal to Mercury and they said I need to go back to the collision shop, leave my car there for an entire day and at some point during the day, one of their reps will inspect my vehicle alongside the collision center and likely give me a new appraisal. Has anyone ever had to do the last step? Not only is it terribly inconvenient, but it seems unnecessary. I have to leave my car at a shop for a full day, take an Uber to work, take another Uber back to the shop after work to pickup my car and I am not even sure if this is the shop I want to use. Hell, I might even accept the cash out option and just fix it later on, which is perfectly legal in CA by the way. Either way, am I missing something? Does this process need to be this convoluted? Lastly, is there any chance in hell I'll be able to file a diminished value claim? I heard it's easier to do with luxury cars but I have no clue how to go about it. [link] [comments] |
Property & Casualty Licensing: Do not use ExamFX!!! Posted: 02 May 2021 09:21 PM PDT Hey, I just wanted to make a post here for anyone studying for their property and casualty license. I literally just passed my state exam here in Oregon yesterday after one failed attempt. I wanted to warn others not to use Examfx. I researched what program to use prior here on reddit and found many old posts suggesting Examfx. My partner is studying for the test and after doing some more research and actually using Examfx software, I found that A.D. Banker's course is much more suited for actual exam prep. The only reason I was able to pass the second time was by having my partner send me his AD & Banker study guide that he received in his course. Examfx's questions are more "dumbed" down compared to what the state test looks like as well as not including much about your state's laws pertaining to insurance. The videos Examfx uses are also the most horrible cartoons that cover the most basic of topics. I've looked through and watched my partner's AD and Banker course which is way more in depth with sophisticated videos regarding harder topics with real life examples. AD and Banker is also a tad bit cheaper and more modern. Oregon state also recommends AD and Banker and has their study guides for sale via their website, which is very helpful by the way. Good luck to you all! Hope this helps someone out there. [link] [comments] |
Got into an accident and I’m need of some guidance dealing with insurance. Posted: 02 May 2021 08:30 PM PDT So I got into an accident yesterday (my car, my geico insurance). I was cut off and went around to avoid hitting them, not realizing they were also stoping short after pulling out to make a quick left turn, in split second decision I stupidly veered to the left and ended up hitting them. No one was hurt, but damage is substantial. The cops issued warnings to both of us, no court date, but his car's registration was expired over a year ago. Cops also said I was most likely at fault but I don't believe I should be. They gave us the report number and had us exchange insurances. So that day I submitted the claim to insurance and called to give the initial report and they said that I might not be at fault 100%. Insurances are going to fight it out I assume and I meet with the adjuster tomorrow. But I'm not sure where to go from there or want to expect really as this is my first accident. So any guidance is appreciated. Edit: Connecticut,USA [link] [comments] |
Insuring an old home with 25 yr old roof Posted: 02 May 2021 08:19 PM PDT I am under contract with a gorgeous Victorian home built in 1899. It has been totally restored in the early 90s, except the inspection has determined the roof has original wood shake, with three layers of asphalt shingles on top. Will my insurance company insure this if were to close on the home? The inspector told me I should ask my agent first, but was wondering if anyone here had experience on this. There are no current leak problems but the top layer of shingles is certainly in bad shape. There is potential we go back to sellers and make them repair or meet half way. They did note the roof needs replaced, but the inspector seems to think it's immediate need, whereas seller thought maybe in the next year or two. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Why do insurance companies seem to make up random numbers? Posted: 02 May 2021 07:37 PM PDT Looking at getting my first car and insurance prices make no sense. I can get insured on a 130hp skoda fabia for £1800 a year or a 60hp vw polo for £2300 a year. What actually causes these differences or is it just a bit of randomness that the insurers use? State Farm Personal Articles Policy and Lost Jewelry Posted: 02 May 2021 07:33 PM PDT Situation: my wife left her engagement ring and wedding band set at a restaurant. We were away for 30 mins when she realized, turned right around, went back, they were gone. The manager and staff said there was nothing turned in and gave a perfunctory "we'll call you if we find anything." They're as good as lost. Question: does State Farm's Personal Articles policy cover lost/misplaced items? I've read through all our documents and it simply says it covers damage and theft. In the "California Addendum," that came with it, it states that the policy covers "physical loss," which I think is just insurance-speak for physical damage? However, I seem recall my agent saying it fully covers jewelry "no questions asked" when I compared their insurance versus the jeweler's preferred insurer. So, if anyone has any guidance/experience, I would be forever grateful. [link] [comments] |
I got rear ended and the insurance wants to total the car. What are my options? Posted: 02 May 2021 07:28 PM PDT I live in Wisconsin and have a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L coupe with 112,000 miles. Posted: 02 May 2021 02:13 PM PDT Hi everyone, I'm an insurance agent in Canada, and I have some questions. First of all, I suffer from anxiety/paranoia. I started doing home/business insurance about a year and a bit ago - as of last year I only have had 5 months of in office work experience and then we were all sent home because of Covid. I'm not used to being on my own with no help around, especially since this is my first home/business insurance gig. I'm worried because we have been swamped ever since we started working from the office. What happens if I missed something, or failed to provide the right amount of coverage to an insured for their home or business? Could I go to jail for that in Canada? Or would we just get sued and our Errors and Omissions insurance will cover it? I'm freaking out. This is a lot of pressure for someone new to home/business insurance. Thanks for any help [link] [comments] |
Was in an accident yesterday. Will my insurance claim it totaled? Posted: 02 May 2021 11:02 AM PDT Had a freeway accident yesterday. Was barely merging onto the freeway, a jeep renegade three cars ahead suddenly stops causing the three of us behind him to crash. Bmw behind renegade stops in time, hyundai was following too close to bmw and hits them, i had just merged in and was looking over at my left mirror to move to the left again didn't stop in time and hit hyundai. Renegade left immediately after stopping, they might not have even noticed the crash since they didn't get hit. Trooper came, showed him my dashcam video, and after a while gave me a ticket for not stopping in time, and the hyundai a ticket for following too close. My car mechanically seems fine. Drove it home no issues only a couple small parts of my front bumper kept falling out. Headlight casing is broken though lights still work. Front bumper is trashed, hood is bent a little from the front, front left panel got pushed back and I'm unable to completely open driver door. Lastly my airbag deployed and seatbelt is pretty much stuck. I had just gotten this car 3 weeks ago which sucks, i really liked this car. What's the likelihood of it being declared totaled vs being repaired? Edit: (washington state) car is 2018 infiniti q50 3.0t [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2021 07:23 AM PDT Hello! All my life my parents and I never had health insurance; we've paid out of pocket for everything. Well in November 2019 I got my first job. I didn't qualify for their insurance last year, and was told I won't get any this year, if at all. I'm 23 and basically been putting a hold on my health for over half a decade because the thought of going broke over the tests I need scare me. How do you sign up for health insurance? I ask many people but I kinda get "I don't know"s. Thank you! Edit: In South Carolina [link] [comments] |
Premiums are crazy high - could use help- 1st x home buyer Posted: 02 May 2021 04:22 AM PDT IL I am buying a 1500 sq ft home on 1.16 acres that has been well cared for, 1 owner, was used as a 2nd home It was built in 1985 and is a double envelope home (passive solar energy/super energy efficient-it doesn't even have a furnance). Each room is heated by radiant heat panels in the ceiling Home has not been updated, there are no special finishes It does has an efficient wood burning fireplace and a spiral staircase 1 bedroom 2 bathrooms, cedar siding No claims on the home, 4.7 miles from the fire station So far my quotes have been: $3200 with a RCE of $240k $4900 with a RCE of $180k Both agents were floored and have no idea why it is coming out so whacky high Any suggestions? Should I make the switch from USAA to Geico? Posted: 02 May 2021 11:02 AM PDT Background: My car is a 2015 Dodge Dart, now at 38.5k on the clock. I bought it brand new May of 2016. I turn 27 in June and have a clean record. The car was purchased in Massachusetts, but I just moved to Georgia. When I bought it my annual policy with USAA was a little over $1,000 living in the suburbs north of Boston. I moved to a city right near Boston late 2017 and in 2018, my annual premium jumped about $800. Since then it did go down some, but increased marginally last year (which eventually got reversed with the refunds USAA issued). Upon moving to Georgia, USAA only does 6 month policies, but the comparable plan that they issued me for 6 months is $845. Doubled to match a year is $1,690 which is about/slightly more than what I was paying in MA. Granted I'm going from driving 4,000 miles a year to 15,000. But I just ran a quote from Geico with my new address and they quoted me at $493 for a 6 month policy. I haven't looked at the specifics of that policy yet but the savings seem hard to pass up. Should I make the switch? [link] [comments] |

Is there a kind of EOB that says “no more benefits”? Posted: 02 May 2021 01:53 PM PDT CALIFORNIA This is kind of piggybacking off of my last post. I previously had two health insurances. Let's say "Blue" was my primary insurance and "Green" was my secondary. This year, my plan with Blue did not get renewed, so I only have one insurance. I have had three in-network visits this year, each of which has been billed to Green, and Green has denied all three claims. The notes say "Please re-submit with primary insurance explanation of benefits." I called Green four weeks ago and told them to update this. The rep on the other end said she was filling out some kind of form for me, which should have updated Green as my primary insurance. Then, I got another bill saying the claim was denied AGAIN, and that I should re-submit with a primary EOB. Is there a specific kind of documentation I could send Green that tells them my plan with Blue is no longer active? For example, if there was an EOB that said "no more benefits offered," that would be really helpful. I'm afraid that whatever I tell them I'll be stuck in this rut. Do you have any advice? Would using my insurance's tow services increase my premiums when it is time to renew? Posted: 02 May 2021 09:46 AM PDT [MA] I have a lot of points on my license. Lesson learned and I am paying for it it now (literally). I recently blew out a tire from a pothole (I was able to get my car home since I have run flats). I opted for the roadside assistance add-on with my insurance, but I am a little paranoid that if I use it, it will be another mark on my file and will lead to another insurance increase. Do you know if something like this would be excluded from calculating future insurance premiums? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
