3 cheatsheets to help you learn (and master) sales calls - Inbound Calls, Cold Calls, Demo Calls Posted: 04 May 2021 07:16 AM PDT With the right process anyone can master sales calls. Preparation and training is what makes great salespeople to stand out. Here are 3 cheat sheets to help you master or get started at sales calls: My use case is selling an enterprise SaaS product, but I think that even if you're not in this industry there are plenty of learnings you can take from these. Feel free to use them as much as you like. I'd recommend bringing these 3 cheatsheets for your first 100 calls (at least). Then, revising the cheatsheets once in a while to make you remember the basics. ------ Hope you have as much fun as I had with the cheatsheets. Anyone have success leaving sales? Posted: 03 May 2021 07:36 PM PDT Background: 27m, been working in sales since I was 23. Started in logistics, then did a god awful door-to-door job, then went into B2B SaaS sales where I excelled, but got laid off twice in a year just before being promoted; one because bad startup leadership & then COVID. Got my real estate license and have been working on growing the business since, but can't shake the feeling that I don't know if sales is a good fit for me. Two reasons keep coming to mind:
Feel like sales isn't a job you can sustain if you have doubts about it. It's such a grind that little seed of doubt will kill your output over time. Problem is I am not sure what else I'd do if it wasn't sales. Marketing seems interesting, but I get the feeling it's a slog. Customer success looks enticing, but feel like I'd regret not making as much. Open to the possibility I am just being a little bitch, but was wondering if any of you guys feel the same or have made a move out of sales? [link] [comments] |

What to do with the alphas blocking the way? Posted: 04 May 2021 10:16 AM PDT I don't know if this is the norm but I feel only ultra macho people bully their way up to become VP/Director Sales. Is this the norm in your experience and how to tackle this? [link] [comments] |
Med Device: It May Finally Be Happening, But I May Be Getting In Over My Head. Need Advice Posted: 04 May 2021 09:02 AM PDT This will be kinda long as I'm a little overwhelmed and don't really know where to go or what to do. My situation: I'm a 36 year old RN. I've been trying to break into Med Device since approx last oct. Had a few interviews with bigger companies, but nothing has stuck so far. I've had a couple of 40 hr/wk 1099 offers, and passed them up as I have family and need health insurance. So no bites as of yet. I have learned a ton about interviewing for this type of position as it's completely different from my past careers. HOWEVER, I interviewed with a global company yesterday and it's looking like I'm going to be offered a part time position as a Territory Sales Manager with a base salary, expense allowances, etc. The recruiter told me multiple times that it will be moved to full time as we emerge from the pandemic (I will make sure is included in any contract I sign) which will include benefits and double my salary. There are a few "red flags" that are concerning me as of right now. I'll list them below. 1st: The recruiter I interviewed with contacted me out of the blue on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in hearing more ab the position. He sent me over a job description and a catalogue of all the med devices, instruments, etc the company sells. There's a ton, but they're all things I'm used to working with or around. Obviously I said yes and here we are. 2: This recruiters linkedin profile has a picture of a caucasian male (with an American name) that looks like he played fullback for Nebraska. His profile location his listed in the Southeast, but all subsequent email correspondences have his location overseas at the company headquarters. Not a huge concern, I understand remote work, etc. The kicker for me was the interview. This recruiter sounds NOTHING like he's from Nebraska and I am willing to bet good money that's not his profile picture judging from his accent (Asian Am.). 3: The interview went great. I enjoyed it very much and so did the recruiter. He said today that I should receive an offer this week. My concern is that I'm completely inexperienced in this position and after the interview, I'm unsure if I'm going to have support and enough training to be able to excell at this position. I got the impression that the recruiter may think I have more experience in device sales than I do (I have general b2b from a previous career, but no med sales) and that I'll be on my own. He also stated that eventually I will have reps "under me". I have no experience cold calling drs offices, surgical dept heads, etc. I don't know how to even go about getting a foot in the door. I have absolutely no formal business management experience, so this worries me as well. That being said, I'm intelligent, personable, knowledgeable, and can figure things out...I just know it's gonna be slow with a lot of failures and a STEEP learning curve. What does everyone think? Is this a normal situation in the sales field? I almost feel like I'm kinda getting catfished. I'm scared to bring up my complete lack of experience as I'm worried they'll just pull the potential offer off the table. But, I'm also nervous to quit a solid job for a position that may not be real and that I may have to just fake it until I make it or fail. I know that was a ton of rambling, but that's what's on my mind. I'll edit with a TL/DR in a bit. Any advice or insight is appreciated [link] [comments] |
Looking for a remote job, will pay if you can help me Posted: 04 May 2021 10:32 AM PDT I have experience with inbound and outbound sales in call centres here in Italy. Doing 200 cold calls a day, top 5 out of 60 employees. I am looking for a remote job because where I live now (Italy) I am making less than 20k a year before taxes which is low even for Italy. I am very fluent in english.I am sending out resumes on Linkedin and indeed and no luck so far, if anyone knows of better platforms or has any leads for a company who's hiring, here I am. Thank you in advance, I will gladly pay you a commission if everything goes well. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 May 2021 10:17 AM PDT When you submit your resume, don't just sit and wait for a phone call. Reach out to the company direct. If you know the name of the job poster, contact them via email with your cover letter and resume (they will likely check if you applied). As dumb as it is not to do this, most sales people never do it. Follow-up post interview. No matter how good or bad the interview was, even if you have no interest post interview, always, always, always, always send a follow-up. You are in sales, it looks lazy and not a serious sales person if you don't follow-up. [link] [comments] |
How to maneuver having a major personality clash with your boss? Posted: 03 May 2021 07:34 PM PDT Hi, I am a surgical device rep making 180k OTE. I have worked really hard to climb through sales roles to get to this position (my dream sales job>or so I thought.) I love the job and the company I work for, but....I just cannot figure out how to get along with my direct manager. It is causing me so much anxiety, and I'm not naturally an anxious person! I am very outgoing and naturally optimistic and creative. My manager is very dull and overly analytical. Some of my customers have made comments about how dry he is when he comes with me, and it's not a good thing. I hate how he talks to customers, and I ultimately stopped inviting him to meetings with me because he berated me in front of a key contact for the facility we were at. He started requiring me to send a report every week detailing every meeting I had and who I spoke to. AND I HATE IT. Almost every time we talk on the phone he expresses disappointment in what I'm doing, or he rambles on about all the negative scenarios that might happen with each account I have (which never come to fruition and just waste my time and put me in a bad mood.) He constantly talks bad about everyone in our company and at my accounts, and he just overall seems like a completely miserable person. His negative energy has gotten to me so bad that when Monday morning rolls around, I have the biggest feeling of dread. It throws me into a state of depression every single time I speak to him. And it is affecting my mindset with the job. Now, I second guess everything I do to move a deal forward, whereas I used to be confident in every decision on my own. Strangely enough, when we met for our annual review, he gave me great scores in almost everything, and I was shocked because he NEVER tells me that I'm doing a great job. (Even though I was the top rep in the company for 2020 and won the Rep Of the year award.) I took the opportunity to tell him how I felt about his negativity, and he promised to try to be better, but almost nothing has changed, although I do see that he is trying. So, is there anyway to mend this? Or do I need to cut my losses and quit? I cannot go on with this anxiety of working with such a negative person who is constantly criticizing me. [link] [comments] |
Anyone else sitting around waiting for salesforce to come back up... Posted: 04 May 2021 09:53 AM PDT Can't remember the last time I had salesforce go down completely while I was working. Makes it hard to do much.... so here I am on Reddit commiserating with my sales brethren. [link] [comments] |

How to use video email to connect with your B2B prospects. Posted: 04 May 2021 09:20 AM PDT Using video email is a powerful way to engage with new prospects and high-level C-Suite executives to grab their attention. Make sure that you have a specific objective and value add in mind to get to the next action step. This could be used for a new prospect you are having difficulty getting a meeting with or perhaps after a relationship has been established and you are at the mid-point of the buying process looking to create urgency for the next step. The possibilities are endless. There are many tools that you can use to accomplish this like BombBomb or Vidyard. However, I posted a video to do this DIY style. Feel free to check it out and join my group if you would like more B2B tips and strategies. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Onboarding SDR’s remotely. Ideas? Posted: 04 May 2021 09:18 AM PDT So we're a fairly small start up, scaling our sales team from 1 to 5. I'm entrusted with coming up with an onboarding plan for our new SDR's and implement it. Has any one of y'all done this recently while being a 100% remote? Can y'all share what y'all chalked out and how it played out? PS: I'm an AE transitioning to leadership right now, so I'm a proper noob at this. [link] [comments] |
Working on a B2B case study - sales cycle and processes help Posted: 04 May 2021 08:22 AM PDT Yoo guys, I have a case study I'm doing, and while I'm already working on the solution it came to me that I may ask some of you wiser people to give me some advice. I need to create a marketing & sales cycle in the B2B Enterprise Market Solution, specifically - Banking and Finance. It's targeting UK, Netherlands, France and Germany, the marketing budget is 20-30k and the usual buying cycle is 3-6 months. (products are usually 400k-3M) I need to create a whole sales cycle, from:
Open to any tips and suggestions, while I'm finishing this (by tomorrow). :) Cheers! [link] [comments] |

Advice? Sales Incentive Plan for ENT Reps w/ 1-3 Customers (motivating in years between large deals) Posted: 04 May 2021 06:25 AM PDT I'm working through a challenge right now, where our enterprise GTM sales team is in a cycle of being heavily motivated in deal years, but we struggle to set their sales compensation plan in a retention and motivation-oriented manner for those years in-between deals where they are focused more on growing the relationship and setting up for the next big renewal+upsell. Gap year sales are immaterial relative to those larger anniversary events. Have you experienced a sales incentive plan structure which addresses this 'gap year' scenario? There are always MBOs and more team-based performance metrics, but these are a combination of qualitative, outside of their control, and/or provide very little upside. TIA! [link] [comments] |

Failing SDR - metrics to put on resume? Posted: 03 May 2021 04:29 PM PDT I started a new SDR job last December. What I thought was going to be a great opportunity has turned out to be anything but. Unfortunately this job and company has kinda of tainted my interest in sales and I'm looking to pivot outta sales. Although I've only been in my current role 5 months, I was at my previous roles for 1.5 years and 5 years, but just overall would like to change my career trajectory. I feel like I would do well in Customer Success and looking at that route. Basically I just don't have the personality to be a hunter non stop and starting to explore non sales roles. The question that I have is what metrics to put on my resume because my performance in this role hasnt been anything to write home about. April I had 4 meetings, two in March, two in February and non in January. My previous roles I was successful and I'd numbers to show for it. I was able to quantify my performance rather than just listing off responsibilities. Any hiring managers or other failed SDR/BDR have any thoughts or advice? Also anyone pivot to customer success or outta sales, I'm curious about your exit! [link] [comments] |
