Should I report my doctors visit as an injury claim after minor accident? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 11:36 PM PST A young driver rear ended me at a red light. It was more than a little tap... there's a significant amount if damage to the back of my car, i wasn't hurt but I did get a pretty good jolt from the impact. I am 7 months pregnant and in the days following the accident I felt like I was feeling less movement from the baby, so I called my doctor just to be safe. He had me go the the hospital to check the baby out, and everything was fine. The girl's insurance company, Progressive, asked me if I was hurt and I said no, but mentioned my doctors visit. Now they're asking for details to add the injury to the claim. Honestly I just went to the doctor out of an abundance of caution since I am pregnant. I feel bad filing an injury claim because the accident was so minor. She's only 16 and I empathize with the fact that this was a stupid accident and don't want to punish her further by adding nuisance claims. Most likely I'll reach my out of pocket max this year with the baby on my health insurance, as long as he is born in 2020, so the doctors visit may not even cost me any extra money in the long run. So should I follow thru with this injury claim or no? I really have no idea how car insurance claims work and if It will benefit the driver or not if I skip this. Getting some extra money would be nice, but I'm not exactly hurting like she may be. I'm in Wisconsin if that matters. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:41 PM PST So my employer caused damage to my vehicle. So I'm making a claim on their insurance. I was told to provide them two estimates and they'll pay me for the repairs. They'll also cover a rental. If I submit two estimates do I have to do the repairs in one of those two places? (Like what if I keep shopping around and find another shop to do it cheaper) What happens if the repair costs more than the estimate - will they reimburse me? How do they decide how much to pay? I got two estimates but they're almost $500 apart. I get they'll err on the side of the cheaper one... but will they only pay the exact amount of the cheaper one? Again putting me where maybe the estimate is less than what it will actually be? Edit to add: Florida (USA) [link] [comments]
Help me choose between two insurance plans Posted: 04 Nov 2020 01:40 AM PST Hi there, Two plans below I am pregnant and due date is Feb. 2020. My mainly focus on Hospital Stay fee(about $15,000 --$40,000 without insurance, I am not sure) for delivery baby. After Feb,(newborn with special enrollment) I will change my plan to a cheaper one. Basically, I will use the insurance for three months if I can. Newborn baby will go under father's insurance plan.(So do not worry about newborn baby's fee.) Here are the two plans: One is high copay with 0% coinsurance, another is low copay with 30% coinsurance. please let me know which plan would bleed less money out of pockets for maternity and delivery :

Can I use healthcare Gov if my school offers insurance? Posted: 04 Nov 2020 01:11 AM PST I have a school insurance, can I also have an on-exchange or off-exchange health insurance? Can I have both student insurance and private insurance(or marketplace insurance) ? Attached words from healthgov page " If your school offers a student health plan, it can be an easy and affordable way to get basic insurance coverage.
Enrolling in a Marketplace plan insteadEven if you have access to a student health plan, you can apply for coverage (or stay covered) through the Health Insurance Marketplace® instead." "TIP When asked if you have health coverage, answer "No." Choose "No" even if you have student health coverage and plan to drop it when you enroll in a Marketplace plan." My car was totaled outside of my home while I was asleep Posted: 03 Nov 2020 04:05 PM PST Washington State, Spokane county, U.S. I'm really sorry for the long post but I don't want to leave out any details because I'm at a complete loss. Last week around 3:15am my car was ran into and completely demolished by another driver. I was not informed at all despite my registration being accessible and my address (where the vehicle was parked) being very easily discovered. I got up at 8am, went outside and it was completely gone, I immediately thought it was stolen (broken glass on ground and I jumped to conclusions) so I called the police. They told me an officer can come by and write a report up for me. The police came 7 hours later and told me the car was actually hit and the driver was arrested. They gave me a police report number to follow up but wouldn't give me the guys information. I called the police department and they said they have the police report but don't have any information finalized but to call my insurance company and they can get that information. Insurance said they can't get the info for 7-10 business days and that my best bet is to get the information off of the police report and call the driver's insurance directly to follow up. My 2 options are: 1) Call his insurance and make a claim if one hasn't been made yet. This leaves my insurance company completely out of the picture apparently. 2) Make a collision claim on my insurance, pay the deductible and hope that the other party had insurance and that Geico will be able to reimburse me. I have uninsured motorist coverage but I was told all that does is lower the deductible by an amount they weren't able to tell me at the time. I initially thought option 1 was the better choice, but I honestly have no idea. This whole process has taken 6 days and I still have no real information and I'm waiting for the police report to be sent to me. Right now my vehicle is in a tow yard accruing fees, they said if I don't pay they will auction the vehicle off. I don't know what to say to the driver's insurance company, but I obviously want to get as much as I possibly can out of this... Lyft rides to school are $52 per day and I just booked a flight to buy a vehicle 6 hours from me because it was cheaper than renting a car. I also don't know if I can have them cover the tow fees so I can keep the vehicle and sell it off for parts/scrap. TL;DR - Car was totaled while I slept, nobody told me until 12 hours after it happened. Do I make a claim on my insurance and get reimbursed or do I make the claim through his insurance? What do I tell the other party's insurance company to make sure I get fully reimbursed for damages? He is 100% at fault and since he was arrested at the scene, I'm assuming he was drinking. Again, sorry for the long post. Thank you! [link] [comments]
A construction company damaged my car Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:17 AM PST Looking for any advice when dealing with a companies insurance. Yesterday a sheet of plywood either fell off or flew off a 6 story building and landed on my car that was street parked below. There was no note left, but the super from the building that was being worked on came out when we discovered the damage and provided us with a number for the sub-contractor that was responsible. He forwarded the information of his insurance broker who I contacted today. They acted totally confused and kept telling me that the insurance is not for auto...which sounds ridiculous. I've never claimed through someone else's insurance before so if anyone has any advice for these early stages of a situation such as this I would be very grateful. This occurred in New York City. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Am I required to give Texas BCBS spouse info when she is not on the plan Posted: 03 Nov 2020 01:54 PM PST I have Blue Cross Blue Shield thru Texas Teacher Retirement System thru my employment at a school. Received a letter asking if I have coverage on any other plan. (I don't.) Wife is on her employer's plan. We are not on each others plan. Even though I can & will indicate I have no other coverage, they want my wife's SS#,plan number, date of birth, employer info including address and phone # even though she is not on my plan nor am I on her plan. I understand them wanting to coordinate benefits, if the situation existed and/or wanting to confirm I don't have other coverage. I don't feel they need her ss# and date of birth to confirm if I have coverage or not on her plan. It's as if I am automatically guilty of having additional insurance and I have to provide personal and sensitive info about my spouse so they can prove otherwise. Posted: 03 Nov 2020 11:17 AM PST I have a 2019 Dodge Challenger. It turns out rats ate through all the cables. I had my vehicle towed (through my insurance) to the dealer and called to file a claim. They sent an adjuster who then gave the green light to look over the car. Now the insurance is telling me I have to go somewhere else to get it repaired. Is this true? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:01 PM PST I was a passenger in my own vehicle when the driver (my boyfriend) hit another car His insurance sent some paperwork stating since I'm not a relative and I don't live with him his insurance will most likely not cover any of my medical expenses or damages.. I had to take an ambulance and get monitored over night because of the baby I was just curious since i went to the hospital to have the baby monitored and to make sure she was okay and not harmed, I had to stay overnight to be monitored. And the baby Is a relative of his, wouldn't his insurance cover jt? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:45 PM PST I am trying to decide which health plan is right for me. I have a family of 3 (me+wife+child). I expect very high healthcare needs for my child with special needs with tens of thousands in bills. I will save about $2K in premiums on the HDHP. I expect minimal healthcare costs outside of those already mentioned for my child. From USA in Texas. Based on my understanding of the HDHP, we should quickly hit the family aggregate deductible of $3,750 with my son's healthcare needs. This will also have him hit the OOP Max at the same time as this is "Embedded" instead of Aggregate. Once this is done, any healthcare for my wife and I will be paying coinsurance only as we have already met the family deductible. Am I thinking about this right? I'd save money on this plan when compared to the PPO due to the higher PPO premiums?

Where would an outbuilding of mine be excluded from coverage? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:13 PM PST My insurance adjuster is saying that an outbuilding I had a fire in is not covered and I'd like to read for myself but this insurance form is ridiculous. [link] [comments]
Accident under my brother's insurance, I'm not covered. (GEICO) Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:26 PM PST So I got into an accident today. Was in the highway and the car in front came to a full stop about 50 meters in front, I was going normal highway speed which is like 70mph (can't remember exactly tbh) and once I realized the car was completely stopped I had to do a very sudden stop. I didn't hit the car in front but the car behind me hit me and it pushed me to the front car which I hit. The car is registered under my brother and only my brother is listed in the geico insurance policy. Should we notify our insurance of the accident or should we contact other partys' insurance first once we get the police report in 5 days. Is it required to notify our insurance? How big of a rate increase should we be prepared to face? This is in NJ. Thanks in advance. The front and back car both said they only suffered minor scratches. My car had a little more than scratches (scratches + damage to headlight, rearlight, but no dents). [link] [comments]
Insuring a home with asphalt shingles over cedar shake? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:23 PM PST i'm in NY. i've read this can be an issue and many insurers won't write a policy with this type of roof in place. is this true? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:13 PM PST Quick question. Searched and couldn't find anything in the subreddit. I had a hose that cracked while we were out of town. Our neighbor left the spigot on with the hose leaking. It was in the window well and flooded 3/4 of the basement. We were declined because they considered it floodwater since it touched the ground outside. We are in one of the highest points in Denver,CO and nowhere near a flood plain so didn't think an actual flood policy would be beneficial. There are no documented floods in this neighborhood in over a century. I know it would vary based on insurance company but would this be worth pursuing with an attorney? Or did the adjuster get this one correct? [link] [comments]
Got into an accident today when a car ran a red light Posted: 03 Nov 2020 04:38 PM PST Located in CA. I was driving today when a car ran a red light, I pulled out into the intersection with a green light and we collided. I was using my dads car at the time. It's an older Prius that has a salvaged title. Since its not worth much at all my parents just keep liability insurance on it. The lady that ran the red light admitted that she did and I have two witnesses. My dad doesn't think that we should even alert his insurance because he only has liability and wants to solely go through her Insurance. I have full coverage on my vehicle (which was not involved in the accident). Should I alert either my Dads insurance or my own about the accident or should I just go through the other parties insurance. I have never been in an accident outside of a minor fender bender so I am not familiar with the process. [link] [comments]
Can I request another estimate of claim? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 12:20 PM PST In short: had a tree fall and damaged roof and deck in March 2019. Soon after, went through health issues and divorce. Now addressing repairs, and, because of COVID19, prices of materials and installers have increased significantly. Will the insurance company update the estimate of the claim, or is it as of the time of damage? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2020 03:57 PM PST On Halloween, while borrowing my boyfriend's car, I rear-ended a vehicle causing damage to another car and totaling my bf's. I don't have my own car but am insured as a "student living away from home" on my mom's. His insurance agent is asking for my mom's insurance info to ask them to cover 50% of damages (prorata?). My mom doesn't want a claim because her rates will increase. Can I tell my bf's agent no? If his insurance has to cover 100% of the bill, will his insurance rates go up more than they split the bill? This is in WA State [link] [comments]
Can't tell if the car was damaged already or I caused the damage Posted: 03 Nov 2020 09:31 AM PST I was parking my car and it's a pretty windy day. I didn't feel or hear a bump, but the car in front looked like it may have moved when I was parking. I went out to look and there wasn't any damage to my car, but there were a bunch of scratches on the person's back bumper in front of me. Even if I had bumped them, at most it would have been a tiny nick. I can't tell if I actually hit them or if it was there before. What should I do? [link] [comments]
How accurate is paint transfer test? Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:55 AM PST I've recently been involved in a hit and run claim, In which my car was parked in a parking lot (I assume) and the asshole drove off. The only place that I went to that day has no cameras, unfortunately I have no cam. My dumbass didn't report it. Im just not experienced with this stuff. First time ever dealing with insurance company. In retrospect, im an unbelievable moron for that.. Fast forward to now, geico has increasingly become more toxic with me over the past 2 weeks. They came to take electronic logs, which I thought would clear things right up... no Bueno. The retrieval of logs didn't work due to some technical difficulties. They got a sample of the paint chip transfer, and ill have the results in 3 to 5 days. How reliable, or accurate, I should say, are the paint transfer tests? I know for a fact I never hit anyone. In terms of my driving history, tickets, accidents, missed payments, im any insurance companies' wet dream so to speak. No issues whatsoever there. But yet im still nervous for some reason. Maybe because of the harsh penalties of filing a false claim? Maybe because they're getting snooty with me lately? Maybe because all they really have to say is, ah fuck it. He's at fault, when im really not?? Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice would help, thanks. State of Virginia [link] [comments]
Insurance Adjuster Lateral Career Moves Posted: 03 Nov 2020 08:43 AM PST My SO is a senior claims adjuster (5 years), and it's really killing her. It's not the job itself, it's mainly the company's leadership style and the fact that they're understaffed. She has a degree in Math. I'm trying to help her find a smart career move. Any suggestions or sharing experiences from prior adjusters who got out of adjusting, would be appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]
