Did You Know That Insiders Can Hedge Against a Price Correction? It Is Called “Executive Hedging”

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 09:41 AM PDT

By Jane Sasseen, February 25, 2010, Bloomberg

"One shareholder avoided much of that drop: the CEO. On June 19, the day the stock peaked, Olsen contracted with an investment bank to hedge 150,000 shares—a quarter of his stock in the company—against losses if the price fell below 18. As part of the complex maneuver, he agreed to sell his shares to the bank one year later and got an advance of $2.2 million. Olsen, who disclosed his hedging in public filings, declined to comment for this story". To facilitate this transaction, the banker would immediately short the stock, then buy a call to protect themselves from further appreciation. They make money by charging a fee, while also potentially attracting new customers". Read more

Buying lots of stocks of just one company, how do you make money 10 years from now?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 12:35 PM PDT

I want to use this as an example. If I do not diversify my portfolio and instead opt to buy in on Apple's current stock rate $119 and I put in $50,000 to do so today.

10 years from now that same Apple stock is now trading at $160. How much would I have been estimated to earn (profits) from that stock? What's the formula to find out?

Have some questions about margin and more

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:09 PM PDT

    1. Is there any broker apart from interactive brokers using which I can buy stocks from Indian market ?
      1. I am confused about margin requirement - for example if I want to sell deep OTM put - 40 strike price of dow (which is currently at 49$) that is 30 days away - how much margin I need from broker? I believe as per reg T, I have to keep 50% cash for total requirement correct? Is there any website that has handy calculator?
      2. I am not sure between tastyworks vs TD ameritrade - please suggest

Why do insiders from Moderna sell their stocks?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:08 AM PDT

It has been reported yesterday that the CEO sold thousands of his shares at the price of about 73 dollar a share. Why is the CEO of the company does that? The CEO isn't the only one.

I've heard that it could be a pre defined stock plan. Is that the case?

Finally, I'd like to ask if you believe that Moderna will still "win" the race, given that Phizer and BNTX are ahead (e.g. conducted trial in children)

    Thanks

    Another post about Arkk

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:20 AM PDT

Hi! Currently my traditional M1 account consists of 80% VTI and 20% VXUS. Really want to add Arkk to the portfolio. I'm a very lazy/passive investor. Not wanting to have to tinker with it on a day to day, week to week or even a month to month basis. I've seen people just add Arkk. I've also seen people had all the Ark's together in their own pie. What is the difference between just Arkk and having a combination of all of them?

A Few Questions for Old Seasoned Trading Pros (If You Have a Second)

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 09:42 AM PDT

    Q. 1. Let's say you have a hefty chunk of capital invested in a stock you trust and believe in long term. However, you've been monitoring a couple other stocks closely, daily, for over a month and you feel confident in your ability to make short term gains from those two stocks (they express higher volatility than your trusted stock). Do you: A) Take the risk, sell your "trusted" stock (even if it is a small capital gains loss) to buy up the other two stocks you see as a good price leading to a short term gain? or B) Leave it alone, just stay with the stock you trust and believe in with low volatility?

Q.2. When you're going in to buy a stock you want, do you wait for a desirable price or do you set up a cash covered put to buy the stock?

Q.3. I'm currently setting aside $1,000 monthly from my paycheck into a managed portfolio through MetLife. It's moderate risk (more towards low risk). I have been trading on my own for a while now, I've gained some confidence on trading options and feel as though I could make as good as if not slightly better gains than my MetLife portfolio. Would you put that $1,000 monthly into your own self-managed brokerage portfolio or for quality-of-life (I have two little kids, a wife, a dog, a mortgage, a career I need to focus on) would you just let the money ride out in your 403b (or 401k whatever the case may be)? Just looking for honest opinions and I appreciate your time!

    You would’ve lost 9,944,640,258,048.00

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 05:10 AM PDT

yes that is correct if you would've bought 1 share of Saudi Arabian national holdings in 2000 you would've lost around 9 trilllion. Now those of you are asking why all of it? Well it's share prices dropped down to literally 0.000. And you might also ask why. Well I was looking for SAH after hearing about its CEO being arrested and below it was SAHN so I decided to look at it. Why did this happen? (For those of you who don't get it this is a joke post, but SAHN does actually exist)
