Is $NKLA the next Theranos? I'm shorting this scammy company. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:56 AM PDT This guy Trevor Milton has no engineering background or degree. He promises to make better EV semis than Tesla but yet has made any truck or even prototype. All talk. He already sold some stock to buy himself a mansion. Is he the next Elizabeth Holmes. I'm tempted to short this stock. [link] [comments] |

Rocket, Parent of Quicken Loans IPO Tomorrow Posted: 05 Aug 2020 10:46 AM PDT Ticker symbol RKT. $97MM net income in Q1 2020. They had issued more than $1T of loans since 1985. At the end of Q 1 2020, they have $2.8B in cash and $17.7B in loan commitments. Interestingly, they are reducing the number of shares now seeking to raise $2.0B instead of previously discussed $3.3B. What is your perspective on profiting from long term investing? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:06 AM PDT I'm 30 and new to investing but I understand and am on board with the concept of purchasing long term hold stocks. But for my situation at this point I am only able to basically add $200 a month to my Ameritrade account for long term investment. I currently have $1800 in my account. My portfolio is basically split even with NET and MSFT. At this point what can I expect like 5-10 years from now. It basically feels like I am going to be saving $2400 a year with hopes of it increasing x%. There's really no guarantees on any profit aside from the minimal gains now. Even after 5 years and I hypothetically have 12k invested, what can I do? Because basically to see a profit and hopefully generate more profit eventually I would have to sell some of my long term shares in order to buy fresh ones(since I'm only able to contribute $200 a month per my wife). Maybe that's where diversification comes into play, I'm not sure. Should I just basically do what I'm doing for a few years until I have a more substantial amount of money invested in my account so I can then use that to make a larger move on whatever stock is the "next long term hold". I've done research online but honestly sometimes it's just better to hear it from (somewhat) normal people who have been doing it and may have been in this exact scenario at some point. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer me. Thank you [link] [comments] |
ENPH stock keeps surprising me Posted: 05 Aug 2020 09:50 AM PDT Hey! I wanted everyone's opinion on ENPH stock. Currently it's at $73.64! I've been holding onto it for 4 years now, so my return would be great (unfortunately I didn't buy many shares at the time), but I project it reaching $80 soon I don't see why not. Thoughts? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:06 PM PDT Can someone explain to to me? Won't you receive $159 even if tdoc or lvgo goes down at this point? According to SEC, it was suppose to be based on the closing price of tdoc on 8/4. Unless the 18.5billion they're paying will change up to 4th quarter when it actually goes through? https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1639225/000119312520209830/d21936dex991.htm [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:32 AM PDT So following the title, have you moved any of your portfolio into Precious Metals (Silver / Gold ETC) and if you have, how much have you moved into precious metals? I personally have moved to about 10% of my portfolio in Metals due to the uncertainty and I wanted to get over peoples views on it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:10 AM PDT I bought a few shares 3 months after the IPO, it's also my biggest position and therefore I'm extra curious about the today's rise. I couldn't find any news, no one bought them. Simply nothing. Did I miss something? Thanks Edit: I'm happy and confused at the same time, I can't stop looking at it. Edit2: Sold 90% of it, it might go up even more, ORRRRR it might just go down and I don't get anything at all. I picked the save route. [link] [comments] |
I think my cfp just violated our contract Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:39 PM PDT I was gifted a portfolio from one of my family members. The portfolio was managed for years for me by a family friend not in my state. I chose to move the account to my state. My cfp told me over the phone that I was making a childish decision and said, this is not what your family would of wanted. Later this evening, my family Me never who gifted me the account in my name sent me a mean text message saying, your cfp just called extremely upset that you are moving the account, can't believe how self centered you are. Of course this upset me but I also believe since he shared confidential info to someone not on my account, he breached a rule or broke a rule. [link] [comments] |

Tips for young investors & portfolio feedback Posted: 05 Aug 2020 10:41 AM PDT Do any of your more experienced investors have tips for new investors specifically young investors? I'm 18 and spent the past few months educating myself about investing and financial literacy and am trying to nail down a portfolio in preparation of an economic downturn that will reap decent returns. I haven't bought into these companies yet but want to check on whether they work well together in terms of risk management. I definitely want to go into this smart but understand great returns are the result of risky investing; therefore, I am okay with riskier purchases. [link] [comments] |
