We need to talk about retail... Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:13 AM PDT So my wife and daughter went shopping for back-to-school clothes this weekend and were surprised by what we all already knew; the dwindling selection and seemingly obvious signs of mass brick-and-mortar closures. This got me thinking about the future of retail beyond the obvious migration to online, and wondering if we also see consolidation inside stores like Target, Walmart, Kohl's, etc... for those higher-end brands which historically have had their own stores / curated retail experience. Putting this out there to see what you all think and if anyone else have been thinking about this beyond the obvious? [link] [comments] |
What’s better in a tech break up? Individual stocks or QQQ? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 01:42 AM PDT Just trying to form a strategy moving forwards with regards to this potential big tech breakup on the cards and I'm curious as to if I would actually be better off owning individual tech stocks like GOOGL or AMZN or if it's better to just pool money into QQQ? The off spring of big tech might not rebalance into QQQ so I guess I'm unsure on that risk because I would want to own the off spring of these companies since they'll likely, if history relapses, be worth more than the monopoly stock. Your Favorite Value Stocks that pay a dividend? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:00 PM PDT Doing some research now for some relatively safe value stocks that also pay a consistent dividend and have a track record of not suspending or cutting dividend (the latter being difficult to even use as a metric due to the times we are in). Do you have any favorites? Looking to load up on some defensive positions. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:50 PM PDT Does anyone know if there is a way to convert the market analysis information of a company to an excel spreadsheet? I'm trying to find specific reasons why a companies market price would rise or fall for a project I'm doing. [link] [comments] |
Best mobile trading platform today? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:18 PM PDT Can anyone recommend a good mobile platform for trading stocks? I don't like TD because The app freezes up all the time during the open and the close, I think they have too many customers. But other than TD, can anyone recommend a good broker with an easy to use and reliable platform? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
How can the same company have different share prices on different exchanges? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:39 PM PDT Thinking of China's Huaneng Power International which goes for $16-17 on the NYSE but then $0.67 on the Shanghai exchange ? How can that be, I doubt they would offer Americans shares with more votes [link] [comments] |
Thinking of selling all and going full cash Posted: 01 Aug 2020 09:05 PM PDT Seasoned trader. I've done it all, stocks / options / etc. Have a decent portfolio but this market to me is becoming iffy. Starting to get anxiety thinking abt limit downs as we suffered earlier this year. Anyone else in my boat? I keep hearing the fed won't let us down and the markets are being propped up. However, all the warning signs seem to be there. I recall reading the last warning sign is when a major index goes parabolic. Thinking of pulling out to cash only and waiting for election or vaccine. Thoughts? Cheers Edit: Seems I've upset some folks. Lol. I've been accumulating since around 2011. I've done well. Something just irks me here for the past week. Guess I'll have to trust the gut, pay my taxes, and wait on sideline. Cheers Edit2: Does no one give a shit about fundamentals anymore? Maybe I'm just overthinking it. [link] [comments] |
Intrinsic value of a stock without divedends Posted: 01 Aug 2020 09:48 PM PDT Hey, I'm currently blanking hard, so I might be missing something obvious but stay with me. What is the intrinsic value of a stock that you know will never pay a dividend? Why would a stock without dividends have any value? I'm aware you have rights as a shareholder, along with partial ownership of the company, but what is the value that you have that that qualifies the price? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 12:17 AM PDT Hey everyone! I have 2.00 shares of SPHQ via the investing platform called Stake. Just have a couple of questions:
I did email Invesco (parent company of SPHQ), but I have not received a response yet. [link] [comments] |
