Trump signs executive order requiring government to buy 'essential' drugs from U.S. companies Posted: 06 Aug 2020 04:11 PM PDT Anyone have any suggestions on stocks to buy that might see a good boost when this hits? It sounds like they have yet to define the medicines that will be affected, but might be wise to make some good bets prior to that. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 03:22 AM PDT I've been looking at some airline stocks and they all took a major hit and havent recovered a lot yet while the rest of the stockmarket is going ballistic. In the Netherlands the government is handing out a cash to help KLM stay alive in these time under the narrative "They can't fail, because it would hurt the economy too much". Not sure, but I can imagine other countries wanting to keep their national airline alive. I don't know a lot about airlines and their financials or other possible important factors, what do you guys think? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 03:18 PM PDT RKT is looking like a nice buy, early in, optimal low mortage rates, what's not to love? Setting up my longterm portfolio Posted: 06 Aug 2020 11:42 AM PDT Have $3,300 that I am investing and not touching for at least 4 years (maybe more). Heres what Im looking at buying -3 shares of Microsoft -5 shares of NET -2 shares VOO -2 shares of apple And ive got around 1k left to spread around after that. Looking to return 10% per year Hows my (soon to be) portfolio looking, and where should I put the other 1k? I feel like I need some non-tech stocks for some more diversity [link] [comments] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
$MSFT- Is it worth it for the long term? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 01:53 PM PDT I like Microsoft but I'm hearing some places that it's overpriced. Will that matter in 10-20 years, and does it even have much more room for growth? How much could the Tik Tok acquisition add to their market cap and their overall business? I know they have Azure but is it able to compete with Amazon AWS. I starting buying AMZN because I see the potential they have, but I can't seem to find reasons to go heavy into MSFT. Trumps order on the US buying essential medicine from US companies Posted: 06 Aug 2020 05:16 PM PDT Will this effect pharma companies this year? I imagine this should push some good runs on covid plays and other vaccine companies or is maybe it could hinder them? Any insight on this?? Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 06 Aug 2020 02:46 PM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)

Posted: 06 Aug 2020 06:18 PM PDT If I am looking to invest for 1-3 years max of 5. Wanted to buy into the market but have been thinking why go in now when there is a possibility of things deteriorating in the coming months due to COVID cases, unemployment, politics, less demand etc. It could go 2 ways -If I buy in NOW : 1.) Market Crashes: My money stagnates for a couple of years until I break even or at worst some companies don't make it thru and lose some money. 2.) The market goes up: I got in at a discount and catch the tech rallies. - If I buy in LATER: ( when the clouds have settled and things are more clear for the economy) 1.) Market Crashes: I avoided buying high and got a good deal. 2.) The market goes up: I missed a good buy-in opportunity and these crazy tech rallies going on at the moment. My thoughts are that it seems too late to buy in any way when things look like they are at ATH. So worst-case scenario The way I see it is I would rather miss out on a quick buck I would make if I got in now because the cons and risk outweigh the positives if the market crashes and my money gets held up for god knows how long until the market recovers. So I would rather wait then lose on a discount buy, and then get in when things are calmer. Or buying half now and half later? I'm fairly new to investing so don't know much to be honest other than a couple of days of research so advice is appreciated from those with more insights and experience. Watchlist: 8/6 More Records, VIX Dropping, Election on the Horizon Posted: 06 Aug 2020 04:27 AM PDT Market Notes: The Nasdaq and Gold made more new records again yesterday. The VIX is dropping as bulls push higher. I wanted to note that the markets have had virtually no reaction to new tensions with China. I believe the market is currently pricing in a Biden win which would make current foreign policy reversible. Futures have just dipped lower ahead of the weekly unemployment numbers. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 04:45 PM PDT I'm a new investor/trader and when I started a month ago I bought like 20 shares of AMD when it was 54 and sold it on the same day because I wanted to invest elsewhere. Huge mistake, I realize now. Was wondering if it's a good time to.get in AMD now. I don't wanna have fomo when this hits 100 In the next month or so. Thoughts on $DOYU? Earnings are on Monday and things look good Posted: 06 Aug 2020 11:34 AM PDT I'm expecting a big spike on Monday when earnings come out. This is a solid e-sports company and recently announced a merger agreement with $HUYA. Someone bought 2,500 OTM calls expiring Oct that are worth 600k. This is a huge green flag and someone knows something is up. Douyu has more streamers than Twitch, which is crazy!! What are your thoughts? Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 06 Aug 2020 02:46 PM PDT These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Looking for an app that lets you few inflation adjusted stock charts Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:54 AM PDT Is there an app that lets me view inflation adjusted stock charts Would like to see how stocks really developed long term, therefore I would like to have inflation adjusted charts: let's say one share of company A did cost 2$ in 1980 which would be roughly 6.25$ today. All prices on the chart could be adjusted this way. Is there a mobile tool that lets you do that? Question about investing in dividend stock. Posted: 06 Aug 2020 06:33 AM PDT Hey all, I was looking into investing in Main Street Capital Corporation, but I want to make sure I'm correctly understanding this. Do the monthly dividend payouts just get added to your brokerage account automatically? I opened a Fidelity account and wanted to make sure there weren't any extra steps I should be taking. Thanks! Posted: 06 Aug 2020 02:00 PM PDT GWPH is down quite a bit following their earnings. Price target is still well above what it's currently at ( currently at 119.75 / share. ) I think I'm gonna pick up about 20 more shares and hold for a while. Thoughts? GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH) Q2 results: Revenue: $121.3M (+68.5%); Epidiolex sales: $117.7M (+64.6%). Net loss: ($8.8M) (-111.0%); loss/share: ($0.02) (-109.5%). Cash flow ops (6 mo.): ($34.3M) (+61.8%). New to investing stocks, what's with the surge after July 31? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 01:30 PM PDT Did a lot of companies release better than expected quarterly earnings? Isn't the pandemic still plaguing a lot of countries worldwide and forcing a lot of states and countries to go back into lockdown again? Seems like the entire stock market is bullish as if the pandemic and the high global employment rate don't exist. Do you think this is a temporary surge or the equity market is back to pre-pandemic levels in the long run? Why does OTC Markets distinguish between OTC Link ATS and OTC Link ECN when ECNs are a type of ATS? Money printing effects on stocks Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:29 PM PDT If you follow the financial news, it is very apparent that the US and other countries are purposefully trying to devalue their currencies. The latest news is that the Fed is hatching a plan to keep rates at zero even when we get inflation(because it was low and we need to make up for those years). Look at gold, silver, stocks- everything is going up even in a terrible economy due to the money creation. Congress cant spend money fast enough. Inflation will come, and the Fed wont quit until It does. I am wondering what this will do to stocks in the intermediate term. Initially everything goes up as the value of each dollar goes down. But if inflation really gets going, would this cause a negative response? Just curious as to how you think it will play out. FYI- Goldman and others are starting to question whether the US can retain its status as the reserve currency. That could really hit the dollar's value. I wish I had more physical assets to buy. Holding dollars is a guaranteed loss as your own government has a stated goal to devalue 2% per year to inflation.
