Rapid Covid Test Location Refusing Blue Shield Members, even Out of Pocket Posted: 02 Aug 2020 02:36 PM PDT I'm trying to get all my employees rapid tested for Covid because we have a few positives. We are insured with Blue Shield of Calif PPO. There is one urgent care in town that offers a result in 15-30 minutes. I just had one employee try to go in. They told him because he has Blue Shield insurance, they can't test him -- even if he were to pay out of pocket. I called to find out more, they said it's illegal for them to test Blue Shield members, even out of pocket. The guy on the phone could not explain what law, sounds like it's their contract with Blue Shield that's the issue. Does anyone know why this might be occurring? It's incredibly frustrating. I'm just trying to get our people tested and back to work. [link] [comments] |
Careers for accountants in Insurance Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:09 PM PDT What options are there for accountants in the insurance industry? It seems forensic accountants are needed but they are very few. Does anyone have experience in other roles with an accounting/finance background?? Are accountants even viewed necessary? I've been asked for location but I don't think it is necessary as my question is quite general [link] [comments] |
Can someone walk up to your car, record your plate and call the cops saying you hit them and ran? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:30 AM PDT Location: Maryland. A car beeped at me on the road (curious as to why) and I guess we both had the same destination. He probably found me in the parking lot, took down my tag number and said I hit him to the police. Didn't commit to exchanging info. I just got a message on my phone. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 09:03 PM PDT Hey, so I'm getting auto insurance on my own for the first time (had been on my parents plan and just paid them for years). I'm 27, no accidents, clean record, and have an M.D. which apparently helps. I'm looking at good coverage (250k/500k), with vehicle coverage with a $1,000 deductible. My rates I'm being offered online is like a $300 premium for 6 months. This just seems too low to be true, since I know auto insurance is usually more expensive than that. Am I being screwed with poor coverage, or does the M.D. really make my rates go down that much? If it makes a difference I live close to work so only drive a few miles to work, and my car is a 2011 toyota in Wisconsin. [link] [comments] |
How does health insurance work while traveling from state to state (becoming a nomad/vanlife) Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:42 PM PDT Hi all, I'm a US citizen, based in California (for now). For those of you in the U.S. and spend your time moving from state to state, how does health insurance work? This is honestly one of my main concerns about doing van life in the states, since we don't have universal healthcare. I think you have to sign up for medicaid depending what state you live in, but how do you do that if you're driving/moving to a new state every few weeks or months? Especially since I will want to be climbing and hiking and outdoors in national parks, I'm worried about injury and also just keeping up regular dentist appointments etc... [link] [comments] |
Can I pay my car insurance payment early? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:22 PM PDT I want to pay my car insurance early this month, but I'm worried they would also charge me on my due date and count it as two months of payments. OR would they count is as my payment and wouldn't charge until next month? I go through Geico and live in Nebraska. [link] [comments] |
Sitting for NJ property and casualty on Tuesday, Need Advice! Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:09 PM PDT I am finally sitting for the exams weeks after completing the course because everything is effed up with Covid 19. I am absolutely baffled. A coworker leant me her NJ specific manual from Kaplan and I passed the test the first time (although just barely at around 75%). I studied and retook it and got 100%. I have been using Enterprise training school and have practiced and practiced on flashcards from that school. I bought a set of practice tests from PSI (the proctor of the exam) and just FAILED after passing on EIT and Kaplan. For the life of me I cannot remember trucker's symbols, I struggle with remembering the various types of farm coverage. I am doing a little better with the HO policies and the DP policies. Please tell me what you did to pass NJ P&C exams! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:36 PM PDT Throwaway for obvious reasons, also have never posted on reddit, apologies in advance for formatting issues. I live in Ontario, Canada. I hit a dog on the way home, it bolted onto the road outside it's house. Owner managed to grab it after it took off running from the road and took it inside and didn't come back out. I had my screaming kid in the car so I didn't want to wait around for them to get back out. My question is who is liable if I were to go to insurance about damages to my car. As much as I don't want to put the family through more if the dog is more injured than it seemed to be, we aren't in a great spot to pay out of pocket for repairs or an insurance increase. Anyone here have any guidance on this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:29 PM PDT Basically what the title says. Sorry if this is kinda a dumb question but I only started having health insurance recently and I am not 100% sure what steps I need to take to ensure safety. In case its important, this is Priority Health. I received an Explanation of Benefits that has my name and address claiming a bunch of procedures that happened in a completely different state than where I currently reside. I initially thought it was some kind of identity theft situation until I realized neither the subscriber number nor group ID matched my information. When I log into my PriorityHealth online account, there is no records of the claims I was sent. I am pretty sure at this point I was sent the information about another subscriber with perhaps the same name as me. I know the obvious step is to just call them and let them know to fix it. But I want to hold these guys accountable because its kinda messed up they just sent me a list of some strangers procedures he had done. I feel like some kinda privacy law was certainly broken and this deserves to be reported. If anyone could help point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. EDIT: Location is Michigan [link] [comments] |
Cohabitating with in-laws and car insurance Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:02 PM PDT We are planning on moving into the same household with my in-laws. We are a family of two adults and 2 children not of driving age and they are a family of 3 adults with 2 of them licensed drivers. Will we need to be on the same insurance or can we have separate policies? We very rarely drive each other's vehicles but it does happen once in a blue moon for utility's sake (heavy transport, towing, etc). We are in Washington state. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 03:26 PM PDT Hello insurance pros! My auto, home, windstorm, and flood policies are coming due. Is anyone aware of a real site or app. that can compares the top 10 insurers if I plug in what my limits are? Also, what I mean by real is a site that doesn't claim to do it but just ends up asking for phone number and email to give to insurance companies that end up calling you without actually providing any info. If no one knows of such a thing and can provide any advice besides contacting an independent agent, it would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Could this possibly bring my car insurance down? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:21 AM PDT I'm 17years old in the U.K. and my current car insurance quotes are around £2-3k for a 2010 plate golf. If I rent a car for a few months would it bring my insurance down? [link] [comments] |
Do I need to tell my insurance if another car hit me from the back? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 11:39 AM PDT Hi everyone. On Friday another car hit my mom's car and they got a warning. We used their insurance to file a claim and I didn't think of calling ours. Do I need to tell my insurance about the accident? I don't want to file a claim with my insurance since the other is taking care of it. I have state farm for reference. In Texas [link] [comments] |
For drivewise app, how much will hard braking penalize you? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:21 AM PDT I've had 10 trips so far and in almost all trips it shows I've had at least 3 hard brakings for each. However I dont have speeding and everything else is fine. Will I still be getting a discount? [link] [comments] |
Unlicensed but Own a Car - how to insurance? Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:34 AM PDT The situation: I'm 24, living in PA (Philly, if that matters). My parents have offered to give me their old car. I don't have a license yet, but would like to get my permit ASAP and use this car to learn. I live with my boyfriend, also 24. He is licensed but has never owned a car. He drove his parents' cars and is still insured on their policy as an occasional driver, though he doesn't live with them. He would be the one teaching me to drive, and be the primary driver of my car until I am licensed. I want to avoid putting boyfriend and I both on the title, to avoid messiness if we break up before the car breaks down. I would consider putting the title entirely in his name if that would make insurance possible. In this situation, who needs to purchase the insurance, title holder (me) or primary driver (him)? Do I need to be listed on insurance before I have a permit? I know when I have a permit/license we will both need to be listed as drivers, but who should be the policyholder? Are there other major things to consider and ask about when shopping for insurance? I plan on calling insurance companies to get formal advice and quotes this week, but would love some initial guidance on what to expect and what to explain on the phone. This is brand new to me. Questions about a rear-end accident Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:24 AM PDT Good morning y'all, Yesterday afternoon I got in a fender bender and the more I think about it after the fact the more I wonder if the other party is trying to scam me. We were approaching a yield to merge onto the main street, the only other lane (coming from the left) had a stop sign, and the intersection was clear apart from one other car stopped at said stop sign. The car in front of me came to a full stop at the yield sign so I did as well, he started driving so I took my foot off the break and engaged my clutch and looked left to make sure it was clear and began rolling forward, then the car in front of me abruptly stopped after entering the street and I hit the back of the car going less than 5mph. There was no damage to either bumper. At first the man wanted to call the cops, have me pay $400, or give him my insurance and license. Now I've never gotten into an accident before and I didn't know what would protect me best legally so I wanted to err on the safe side and I told him if he wanted my info he could get it from the police report, then I suggested pulling into a parking lot to wait. We park, then he says if I just give my info he won't call the cops, which again wasn't a concern for me, so I told him I wanted to call my insurance real quick to make sure that I wouldn't be screwing myself over by agreeing to that. Insurance said it was good I called to make sure and that it would be fine to exchange info and then call back after to make a claim. Cool. Except he started claiming that a couple golf ball sized dents on the trunk of his car were caused by the accident, which isn't possible as the front of my car is lower than the top of his rear bumper and there's nothing on the front of my car that would leave that shape of dent. This is what I'm sure he wanted the $400 for. Now the part I'm most sketched out by is how after we exchanged info, he started talking about how lucky I was it was only him and not someone worse, how "someone" could claim they got hurt and how he had a bad back(?!), how he was driving his "lawyer friend's" car and that's why he didn't want to just drop it. He made it a point to pull the fact he's a 60 year old man and I'm just a 21 year old and he wants this to be a teaching moment and that if there was a child involved I'd feel so bad about it. I live in VA so it's a one party consent state for recording, so while this was happening I tried to start a video but ended up not actually pressing start and didn't end up getting any of this recorded. I'm afraid that he's going to claim I did the damage to the trunk of the car, however I would assume if I let my adjustor know and submit my pictures he would come to the same conclusion. Is that correct, or will they just take his word for it? I'm not sure how these types of things are investigated. If the other guy claims he got hurt when he declined calling the police and stated he was fine, I know that injuries can present days after an accident, but will the fact I was only rolling and not actively accelerating contribute to the validity of his claim? If insurance concludes that there was no damage done how will that affect me? I know premiums can go up just for calling about an accident, so is it likely that my rates would increase? Am I still technically at fault when he stopped past the yield sign after already stopping once? I know that ones a little difficult to answer and that in most cases I would 100% be at fault, but I couldn't assume he'd stop once entering the intersection when I'd already checked to the right and seen it was clear. I'm really sorry this is so long, I've just never dealt with any of this before and the more I think about it the more I worry he's going to try to do something to get money out of my insurance company. I just feel like he threw up a lot of red flags and I'm not sure if my statement will mean anything since I'm at fault. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:17 AM PDT Im having trouble finding the answer to this basic question. If you have a whole life policy do you pay the premium for your entire life or do you pay it for a set amount of time/years? [link] [comments] |
Reaching out for any guidance from this community Posted: 01 Aug 2020 11:27 PM PDT Currently in the final stages of building an outdoor sauna on the rooftop of the townhome my spouse and I own. To provide an extra measure of security, it seems prudent to add additional insurance in the event the sauna is responsible for damage to our property and/or that of our neighbors. Any advice on the type of insurance to request when reaching out to our insurance broker? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Aug 2020 07:24 PM PDT Hello. This is a throwaway account just to keep things anonymous. So I was involved in an accident involving four cars. It would be described as being a "chain rear-end accident". I was stuck in heavy traffic on the interstate and that is when I noticed the car behind me lunging at me. I didn't think much of it but that's when I got rear-ended, causing me to rear-end the person in front of me. As it turns out, the car behind the car behind me hit the car behind me, which hit me and caused me to hit the person in front of me. Who would be at fault in this situation? Mind you, I had a safe distance from the car in front of me and I was at a full stop in traffic. [link] [comments] |
