Quota met and exceeded Sales and Selling

    Quota met and exceeded

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:20 AM PDT

It will be 2 years with my company in January. The end of my 1st fiscal year with them is next month. My quota is ~$330k, and I am about to book ~$180k in the coming days. This will push me past my quota by about ~$20k. For my annual review what is a reasonable raise to ask for?

I have survived 2 rounds of lay offs and this is my first B2B position. My base salary is in the higher 40s. I know a few reps in the lower 50s who have not met their quota this year.

I need a new sales podcast

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 11:30 PM PDT

I used to listen to Belforts "Wolfs Den" but it's all politics now and of no relevance to me.

Can anyone suggest any sales centric podcasts that I can listen to on my commute?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I'll check out as much as I can, it's a 3 day weekend in England this week and I'll be in the garden so plenty of time to listen.

    Are Cold Outbound Meetings dead?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 10:22 AM PDT

Does anyone set genuine cold outbound meetings? I've set 2 this month out of 30. The rest are inbound or incentivized with a gift if they'll take the meeting. If you do set cold outbound meetings, how do you do it?

What to focus on first in a SaaS start up?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:02 AM PDT

I recently started in a sales position for a local bootstrapped SaaS start up (Germany). The product is in a good state and they started promoting their product with a small budget a couple month ago and have around 20 paying clients right now (subscription based, ~$1k annually).

I was a Sales Engineer (Industrial machines) before and agreed to this as a chance to get my foot into the SaaS industry and start up world. I love the atmosphere around the team and believe in the product so I want to learn as much as possible about SaaS Sales and push this thing forward.

First things I did so far:

    - dived into the industry and the product

    - built a product demo (reducing their 1 hour webinar to a 20 minute presentation)

    - gathered a list of contacts (some who attended or registered for previous 1 hour webinar and researched numbers on my own)

    - called first numbers

    - got people to attend the personal product demo (via zoom) and use the 2 week trial version

Right now I am unsure how to scale this thing. I always have the words of Paul Graham in mind "Do things that don't scale". I have a couple things on my mind:

    - I don't get leads from marketing right now because they have very little money to spend on inside marketing (they have excellent marketing material but no experience creating MQF leads)

    - How do I structure the sales process / sales team in the future

    - Is a 20 minute product demo even worth it for a volume of ~$1k per year

    - should I use the 2 week trial version or try to sell directly? (Basically: Should I work on my sales techniques or try to call high volumes)

As I am Sales Manager, SDR and AE all in one right now what would you focus on or do differently?

    My headset is garbage!

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:39 AM PDT

I picked up a headset a while back so I could use both hands to look up orders and the like, while I'm on the line with customers. It's very comfortable, but the speaker is crap, compared to the regular handset. I absolutely hate asking customers to repeat themselves over and over. Can anyone recommend a good headset that will plug into my VOIP phone and has decent sound quality?

[Need Advice] My mom wants $400 to buy leads and I cant tell if this is a good idea.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 06:19 AM PDT

My mother lost her job at a local warehouse back in December and hasn't been able to find anyone willing to hire her. But she did find an insurance job that gave a spot (or job i think) where she had to pay $49 for something. She's been on a few calls with them, and was told she had to purchase her own leads. And because she never leaves the house to socialize, she had no network she can start from. Today though she wanted me to get a credit card because she wants $300 to buy leads.

This is too much right? How did you guys start and succeed in sales?

    Advice needed on proposal pricing

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 11:29 AM PDT

I lead the sales team for a 5 year old tech company.
We have been approached by another company to be part of an RFP. Our solution will take care of most of the preferred wants of the proposal, the leading company's solution takes care of the must haves.

We crunched our numbers and looked at the math and sent our proposal which was at first met with enthusiasm. Then the leading company asked for better pricing, which we gave and now they've come back and said, even if you were at $N, we still couldn't include your solution. It just makes the overall proposal too expensive.

My boss, the owner/CEO, wants us to go in significantly below the $N figure the leading company gave. Our proposal is now a 73% reduction from our original offer.

1.) I don't feel very good about this for long term prospects w/ the leading company
2.) How do I approach this for the best results w/ the leading company?

What do you do when the prospect is really negative about pricing? "Alright, lay it on me. What's the damage?" etc.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 11:21 AM PDT

Is there a way to turn this around when someone is super negative. I feel so awkward and laugh a little bit and try to talk about the value of the product but I just feel like I never know how to respond to that.

Need some help from my Salesforce peeps!

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 10:55 AM PDT

    Hi Sales Gang!

I have an upcoming interview that I grinded to get and TBH, I feel like what is going to set me apart is my experience in the certain vertical, and what will hinder me, and where internal applicants will excel, will be product knowledge.

Any people out there want to virtually meet so I can pick their brains about the product and how SMBs will use it?

Happy hump day guys and gals. I ran into a problem I'd like some help with. I work in sales and send upwards of 400 text messages per day to different people. I am finding out the carriers are blocking certain phrases, and even my texts completely. How can I get around or fix this legally?

    I greatly appreciate any help.

    Hi Everyone,

Currently I run an IT consulting company in US and Canada, we do consulting, staffing (onshore and offshore) and projects/applications.

I am also trying to get into RFPs out there. But I am running into a wall where I cannot find any quality source. Can any of you point me in the right direction? Thanks

How much to charge for selling/pitching? Per customer, per sale?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:57 AM PDT

Hi everyone, and thanks in advance for your input.

I'm a marketer by trade but have a background in corporate sales -- but I'm new to the concept of freelance selling/pitching. Should I charge per hour, per pitch, per sale? Some combo of all three? What would rate/fee structure look like?

    Thanks again...

I’m ready to dominate at sales, but cant get my foot in the door

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:32 AM PDT

I don't have the "serious" sales experience that some places look for but I know I can close deals, negotiate, and provide excellent customer service. I want to sell medical devices or pharmaceuticals, don't have a degree, but I've held multiple sales positions like car sales, CBD sales, vacuum sales. I've been successful at these but just can't seem to get to that "next level." How do I escape the B2C purgatory ?

I'm looking to hire a cold caller to generate life insurance leads - Is this comp plan fair?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:02 AM PDT

I'm looking to hire a cold caller to help generate leads insurance leads for my firm which I will turn around and close. As long as the rep can get me *2 small deals* to close every month, they pretty much cover their own hourly rate. I was looking at offering a flat hourly rate + bonus.

Current Minimum Wage in Ontario: $14.25 CAD

    Proposed Comp Plan

$17.00 / hour @ 37.5 hours per week - Flat Hourly Rate No Matter What Happens

3rd Deal Closes in a month - Flat Payout of $500 on top on hourly rate

4th Deal Closes in a month - Flat Payout of $700 on top of hourly rate

5th+ Deal Closes In a Month - Flat Payout of $1,000 on top of hourly rate

    Thoughts to this comp plan?

And the Best position to call selling your digital services is?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 01:00 AM PDT

Our intern salesperson started to call companies offering them our digital services (graphic design, website, ecom and other stuff...) so I am wondering which position she should call?

Probably if the company has less than 20 or 30 employees that might be CEO but for bigger companies that person should be? COO? CMO? Business Development?

    Thanks a lot!

Rookie question: D2D or location sales?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 03:05 AM PDT

Hi, I'm applying to an entry level sales position for an energy company (gas, electricity, solar) and they have the option to either sell door to door or at varying locations (shopping centre's, malls etc.)

Is there a significant difference between these?
