My mother is in jeopardy of losing the Family house. Posted: 13 Aug 2020 04:44 PM PDT After my Grandfather's death his property in So. Florida was willed to my Mom. She had/has a meager salary, now on SS, then took out a 'Reverse Mortgage Loan' to make needed and expensive repairs. According to her, it was 2015 when she took the deal from a company called 'Champion' then, is now 'Generation'. (according to her) She got a notice that her Windstorm company went bankrupt and she needs to find new Windstorm coverage or they will Foreclose on her reverse mortgage. Currently, the insurance companies she calls won't pick up a Windstorm policy during hurricane season. Because the State run 'Citizens' will not take her back because she opted out for a cheaper Insurance that went Bankrupt...I'm worried that she will lose the Family property. Please guide me to help her. I'm in PA, she is in Fort Lauderdale. [link] [comments] |

Cracked windshield: submit to insurance or pay out-of-pocket? Posted: 14 Aug 2020 01:59 AM PDT I cracked the windshield on my 2007 Civic yesterday (no other cars involved). The glass repair shop is charging $250 to replace. If I submit this to auto insurance, will it make my premium increase? Thanks in advance for any help. Never had a car collision before, so I'm learning how to handle it. Add: located in Illinois, USA. [link] [comments] |
Desk adjusters and work from home adjusters, tell me EVERYTHING about your job! Posted: 14 Aug 2020 01:13 AM PDT I want more insight into what a day in the life of a desk adjuster is like since I'll be diving into this career in the near future. I wanna know how your day typically starts, how many claims you handle a day, any things you've learned to manage your time and the claims, how long it typically takes to handle a claim, are your bosses and co workers friendly or is everyone walking around with a stick up their asses, do you have ANY downtime at all, do you vent to your co workers, do you do a ton of overtime, are you overly stressed out, EVERYTHING. Or y'know, just the things you're comfortable sharing with a random user on reddit :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 12:12 AM PDT Hi, never posted on here before so heres hoping I did it right... I just wanted to see if anyone had any information on this since google wasn't too much help. I have a 2016 civic and bought it new. I was rear ended 2 years ago and just found out my title says salvage. The damage was minor and I figured the person who rear ended me would be responsible, but turns out they were rear ended as well and that person took off. In CA, the person who took off was responsible. Since they took off, I would have to pay. I opened a claim to get the car checked out and was told it was only cosmetic, totaling about 545 dollars. I was told by the insurance that the claim won't be filed if I don't cash the check and since the damage was almost microscopic and they would only cover 45 dollars, I didn't bother. When I look up salvage, it states that this is when the car is a total loss or repairs cost more than the car is worth. The car is worth at least 15K (via carbana) so I am confused about that and plus the car is in excellent condition. The damage was from a license plate screws pushing into the bumper but it didn't even scrape the paint off. Left two small indents. So my question is, does this seem right? I called Esurance and they said they couldn't help me. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Insurance company billing me for an audit from last year... Posted: 13 Aug 2020 02:47 PM PDT I had a commercial garage policy for my company's fleet vehicles. This insurance company billed me for something called "Audit Fee" for an exorbitant amount (about 25% of my total policy premium). I would like to note that I never made any claims with this insurance company per the loss run report. I called my insurance agent and the insurance company, neither were willing to help me resolve this issue and none of them explained what the charges are. I am trying to contact the insurance company again to dispute these charges, I have sent e-mail correspondence to both the insurance company audit dept. and my agent. I have yet to receive a response. I am no longer a customer of this insurance company, do they have legal powers to go after me or my credit history for these charges? Thanks! Edit: The insurance policy was commercial fleet garage liability in Arizona, USA. [link] [comments] |
Total loss payout on Salvage branded vehicle Posted: 13 Aug 2020 05:40 PM PDT I haven't found an answer for my question yet but I bought a salvage branded vehicle and my insurance (progressive) gives me an option to select comprehensive coverage for the vehicle. It will costs me about $2500 for a year of full coverage. I paid about $2500 for the vehicle. I have two questions

Can i force a repair on a totaled car. Posted: 13 Aug 2020 09:02 PM PDT I drive an 06 gmc sierra (no insurence) and today someone pulled out in front of me and caused lots of damage to my front bumper and possibly A frame (steering wheel crooked). My car still runs and i limped home but I'm afraid his insurance (state farm) will total my car which has new tires and lots of work done. Since he admitted fault am i able to demand that his insurance fix my existing car even if they total it? I live in new hampshire. [link] [comments] |
Umbrella policy with a barely used second vehicle. Other options? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 05:01 PM PDT I have a truck that is stored indoors and gets used significantly less than 1,000 miles a year. Because of my umbrella policy, I have to insure it with fairly high coverage. With my premium ($360/yr), I am spending over 36 cents for every mile it's driven (I put on less than 1k miles per year). What are my options? Can I insure it with another carrier that does it by the mile without violating the terms of the umbrella? I'll call my agent either way, but I figured I'd check in here first. Thanks in advance for the help. Edit: Wisconsin and Am Fam. [link] [comments] |
What is a EOL policy with a return on invest called in the industry? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 08:36 PM PDT I'm new to life insurance. I just turned 60. I'm looking into all the available options for a guy on a budget, very low income. My insurance agent suggested starting a final expense policy for just $45 a month. My friends think its a horrible idea. They want me to start an Allstate policy that will return my investment after like 15-20 years. I'm in good health. I don't use any kind of drug or alcohol. As a part-time roofer, I need some kind of life insurance in addition to the health insurance policy in my wife's name. EOL is affordable! What do insurance people call a EOL with a return on premium? Where can we shop for policies that offer EOL with a return? At the age of 60 it's too late to start anything really long term! Posted: 13 Aug 2020 08:30 PM PDT I should also state we went to a place who specializes in accidents who recommended us a doctor and lawyer that help set it up, not sure how they get paid in all of this if someone could explain, i know they should but yeah. This was another reason we felt on edge because we weren't sure if we should've went straight to a lawyer instead. Thank you! & sorry if i misspelled anything or if my grammar is incorrect. Insurance on a vehicle I haven't taken possession of Posted: 13 Aug 2020 07:26 PM PDT I have a question that will likely not amount to anything but im curious. I am currently buying a truck that is still being shipped from the manufacturer. The dealership and I have no idea when it will actually show up. I put a deposit on the vehicle but I haven't paid for it in full or finalized the paperwork. In order to do the loan paperwork with my bank, they needed me to have insurance on the vehicle, but since I dont know exactly when the truck will get here I had to start the coverage already. So I currently have active insurance on a truck that I am not in possession of. I know there were probably smarter ways to handle the situation but it is what it is. My question: if something happens to the truck now (the transport truck gets in a wreck or something) can i make an insurance claim and get the value of the truck even though I haven't paid for it yet? I'm in New York and the chevy factory i think is in Indiana if that matters [link] [comments] |
Michigan: Liability Auto Insurance is kinda pointless??? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 07:16 PM PDT Your insurance covers you from being sued EXCEPT: -When someone is killed, grossly hurt/disfigured. -Other person(s) driving non state registered vehicle -Accident in another state -for up to $1,000 you're more than 50% at fault with causes damages to another person's car. Sorry but, the first 3 especially are the reasons why you have the liability insurance in the first place, no?? (Am struggling to find the link to theconsumer guide that says this, so summarized instead--reddit won't let me post my screenshot 😤) [link] [comments] |
Anyone else with difficulty recovering rental costs (NGIC insurance)? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 07:10 PM PDT Someone tapped my rear bumper last year. I had it repaired. It took several days -- about $200 rental expenses. NGIC claims it should've have taken that long, and will pay only $100. Anyone else have a similar issue with their claim? I'm curious if this is a one-off, or they have a practice of shortchanging claimants. edit: based out of Los Angeles, CA [link] [comments] |
Cancelling a Progressive auto policy Posted: 13 Aug 2020 06:53 PM PDT I live in Florida and have had Progressive insurance on my truck since I bought it 7 years ago. Essentially, every 6 months my premium had slowly crept up, so I usually would shop around but ultimately didn't find a better provider so I've been sticking with them. However, this last renewal notice, my rate was going to jump up like $60 for the 6 month policy which I didn't find reasonable. I shopped around and found another provider that is nearly half the cost for the same coverage - slightly better coverage, actually. I went ahead and paid for the 6 month term with my new provider, and then called Progressive at 1-866-416-2003 so that I could inform them and cancel my policy/upcoming renewal. The guy on the phone was very nice, but essentially implied that I didn't even really need to call them at all, and he took no action claiming "no action is needed". He seemed to suggest that basically at the end of my current policy, without paying for the renewal I'll basically just have "no coverage" from Progressive and that'll be that. He confirmed I didn't have any sort of autopay system so they aren't going to be able to collect money from me. My question is... does this seem right? In the past, I've had to have official forms that I faxed or mailed other providers (like Nationwide) to confirm cancellation, not just "let them run out". I know insurance companies report to the DMV that I'm covered; will "letting it run out" run any risk that Progressive will run to the DMV and claim I don't have insurance? What about any possibility that they may try to bill me down the road claiming "Well, we didn't have anything on file that you didn't want to renew and we didn't receive payment" and possibly sending to collections? I'm probably just paranoid but I wanted to see if it was perfectly okay to just "ignore Progressive's renewal" and be fine with my new company. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Aug 2020 01:47 PM PDT I am entertaining a job offer that is based out of California (remote). The insurance being offered is Anthem Blue Cross. Currently, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and I live in Michigan - everything is in network. From what I can tell, both Anthem and BCBSM participate in the BlueCard program. Does this mean that my Michigan, in-network providers that accept BCBSM will also accept Anthem through the BlueCard program? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Aug 2020 10:55 AM PDT I bought a car in Kansas and drove it to my home state of California. Before I had a change to do any of the paperwork, the car was totaled. The insurance company are looking for the car title issued in the name of the lein holder ( Capital One Auto ) before they will pay out. Currently it's a Kanas Title. California DMV says: Can't issue the car title because they can't inspect the car. Go talk to the Kansas DMV Kansas DMV says: Can't issue the car title because I don't live there. Go talk to the California DMV. I'm just running in circles. Can anyone offer any words of wisdom! Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Aug 2020 04:20 PM PDT In early June at night, A man hit my car on the driver side wheel, in an intersection where we both had no stop signs. He claims I didn't have my lights on to get out of it, even though I had them on and I don't see how he would know they were off if he hadn't seen me. I filed the claim with my insurance as soon as I got home. After two weeks I called them, and then they asked for my side of the story. I kept checking back in every week for a month, and they keep saying they were trying to find the other person. Now it's late July and they just decided to look him up and file a claim with the other insurance. Now, in August, I switched to calling the other insurance every week. They tell me it's going to take some time because the other party filed their claim on the 27th of July, and they are waiting to see if they can find any local camera footage to see if my lights were on or off. Said if they couldn't find sufficient evidence they will take responsibility, and they will do that at the end of week. It's now been two weeks, and they said they are still waiting for any footage. I've been walking 45 minutes to work for almost 3 months. No one has come to look at my car. I understand we are in a pandemic bit are these things supposed to take this long? Am I being screwed with here, or am I just being impatient? I live in Oregon btw [link] [comments] |
Best provider if two homeowner's claims? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 04:12 PM PDT Hi all, Have a client buying in a semi fire area, and unfortunately he made a claim in May 2018 for a small water damage, as well as some other small claim two years prior. Few brokers I know are trying to find something, but looking like $4K a year so far might be best. Anyone know of a company who might offer a better premium? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Homeowners ins. billed annually - bill paid in full in July, now they are billing additional $160? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 12:22 PM PDT The bill says "policy change" but doesn't say what has changed. We made no changes and have had no claims in probably 15 years. The only "change" I can see on the paperwork is the value of our home on last month's annual bill was listed about $50,000 less than the figure shown on this month's additional bill (I can't believe that new amount is correct and we have not made improvements). If we pay our bill annually, can they charge us more after the new policy year starts (in this case it was July 24)? I asked our agent, who couldn't figure it out and she has not called back with any updates from the home office yet. [link] [comments] |
StateFarm Auto Insurance Issues Posted: 13 Aug 2020 03:04 PM PDT Hi everyone, Story is, I was involved in a hit and run with no witnesses as to who hit my car. I called StateFarm to file a claim and they said I needed to bring my car into one of their select services to get an estimate. I went in for an estimate and the cost to fix the car is way above my deductible. Now from what I understand, StateFarm is supposed to send the reimbursement check to the policy holder after you get an estimate minus the deductible. However, they said that they will only send the check directly to the auto body shop after I get it fixed. Does anyone know if StateFarm is just taking advantage of the fact that I'm not too familiar with the process? Or is this a new policy that I'm unsure of? Is there no way for them to send me the check and I can fix this car at another time? Edit : I'm in California Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Progressive snapshot data usage Posted: 13 Aug 2020 10:06 AM PDT I recently switched to progressive. My wife, oldest son, and I will be putting the snapshot app on our phone. My son has a tracphone plan, and does not carry much data on the phone. He keeps his data off, and only uses wifi when he has access. Will this affect the app? Or does it collect the GPS and sensor data and then upload when it has a data signal? [link] [comments] |
What documents should I Provide for this claim? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 01:29 PM PDT Hi everyone. I'm in Central Florida. I recently was rear-ended and nerve damage has resulted in my right arm, believe it's the ulnar nerve. I'm off work from my part time (Instacart) job for 8 weeks per Dr. orders since the work entails heavy lifting/ carrying. My adjuster requested a W-2, but I started this job in April 2020, it would also be a 1099, not a W-2 when I file next year. I included my payouts directly from the Instacart app displaying what I've earned since I started working (weekly dates and earnings are displayed), but I was denied because it's considered handwritten (?). Idk what else I could provide. I was offered 2k for time inconvenience and 2k for medical bills. I was encouraged by the same adjuster to counter her offer. I opted to do so because I have been referred to a specialist and want to know for certain whether this damage is repairable or not, it's my dominant hand after all. Im also attending 3-4 Dr appts each week which takes me away from my full-time (clerical) job (I've been using PTO there when I have to take off, is this correct?). Can anyone provide any insight on what I can do about proving a my earnings beyond the screenshots? Instacart doesn't provide paystubs or anything similar. I track my earnings, expenses and mileage through another app, but idk if that helps either. [link] [comments] |
I need a lot of dental work done. Would a 2nd dental insurance policy work for me? Posted: 13 Aug 2020 12:56 PM PDT Long story short I neglected my dental health and my teeth are in awful shape. At minimum I need: 12 cavity fillings 1 maybe 2 extractions. One maybe 2 root canal n crowns 3 implants to replace missing teeth Deep cleaning Gum related work. I have a standard dental plan through Cigna that covers 80% and 50% to $1500 worth of work after a $50 deductible. Which I've mostly wiped out this year already. I'm wondering if a 2nd dental plan would be beneficial for me over the next 2 or 3 years to help cover some of this work. Would it? [link] [comments] |
