UPDATE: A club posted pictures of me online and I want them gone Posted: 25 Aug 2020 07:48 AM PDT The original post didn't get any attention, but updates on this sub are like crack to me, so I'm posting it if anyone is interested. TL;DR on the original post: I went to a club with friends, I didn't know ahead of time they had a photographer. Some pictures of me were posted of me on their website and Facebook. I asked them to take the photos down, they refused because they were "great promo pictures." Sooo despite some of you guys commenting or PM'ing me things like slut shaming and wanting to see the pictures, I actually received the correct advice! Facebook was very helpful with getting the photos taken down there. I reached out to their support and reported the photos and they were taken down within a week. Someone pointed out this statute
That pointed me in the right direction of getting a cease and desist letters written. I have a friend who called in a favor with an IP lawyer who handled my case for very cheap. She was also pretty angry about it too when I told her about it, so I guess that was also motivation to help out a broke college kid. It took two cease and desist letters, but the pictures were finally taken down within two months. I have a sinking suspicion it cost me a job offer in the meantime, but I'm not sure enough to actually do anything about it even if I could. Anyway, thanks guys! I'm not sure if location bot still yells on update posts, so Massachusetts [link] [comments] |
Just realized .27 acres of our land is on an established public park (TX) Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:29 AM PDT We bought our wooded two acre lot two years ago. The lot is adjacent to this adorable frisbee golf park. We finally finished clearing out the bush (our pandemic project, lol) and are ready to start building a fence. We're planning to fence in the whole property. I contacted the building and planning department for the city a couple months ago and was verbally given permission to build a fence on the property line- no permit needed according to the city ordinances. When I was establishing the boundaries this weekend, I realized that over a quarter acre of our property is on the manicured grounds of this park. If we fenced as is, it would take out a long line of small concrete bollards (those were parading as our property line), a golf goal, and one and a half concrete pads. I reached out to a local real estate lawyer and am waiting to hear back, but I wanted to see if anyone had ideas on what to expect or approaches that may help my case. This is a small Texas town (fewer than 6k people) and any time I've spoken with neighbors about building things on one's property, they go on and on about how difficult it is to get permits and whatnot. There's a strong "good ol' boy" vibe, I guess. They might just be blowing smoke but this is my first time ever needing legal representation or advice so it's all new to me. Thanks, y'all! I'd like to keep the land if I can but at the very least I don't want it included on my property taxes if I can't use it privately. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 06:44 AM PDT We live in SOUTH CAROLINA. TLDR: You can answer based solely on the title alone I think, but here's the story for context and all you drama lovers. If you like TLC's show "Smothered" you'll have a good time reading. _ _ _ My boyfriend rents his condo from his father. He has three bedrooms, but no housemates. His father has been locked into a nasty divorce with bf's mother for over three years. So she is still technically on the title of ownership for the condo bf is renting. His father pays for everything to do with the condo, so bf's rent payments go right to him, however bf's mom did sign the lease saying it was okay for him to rent the place, so I'm pretty sure she is also technically his landlord even though she pays nothing for the condo, and receives nothing for the condo. She constantly invades his space by showing up at his door (often when he has friends or me over). It's all very awkward. She has consistently said she has the right to do so since her name is on the title of the place. He says that she needs to give him notice then, but she will not listen. Now she is saying that she is going to stay in one of his spare bedrooms for a week or so because she needs a "mental health break from her life." For context, she lives in a huge house about an hour away. The house is bf's childhood home which is also paid for in full by bf's dad; her name is just on the title as well, and bf's dad allows her to live there; he purchased a new home and moved out, but told her she can stay rent free there. She is saying that since it's a home she used to live in with bf's father, staying there all the time is a painful reminder of the past, so she is just gonna come stay with my bf for a while. He has told her NO many times, but she will not respect him, and says he's being rude because it's HER condo (again, she is the part owner on the title only. She pays nothing for it. Whereas bf pays rent). This is such a weird situation, and my bf's mom could probably be on TLC's show "Smothered" right now... Does he have the legal right to prevent her from staying with him? Should he like... change the locks or something? He is going to stay with me if she does come down, but I know she will keep pulling stunts like this to annoy him. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 07:14 AM PDT My old roommate left a deer head that's been with me for 4-5 years just lying in the living room. I'm moving out and selling a bunch of stuff on Craigslist. I had NO idea selling a taxidermy animal was illegal in CA. I got an email on Craigslist from a person who wanted to buy it for $200, exchanged some emails and gave him my number. Yesterday he asked to meet outside bc of COVID, I agreed, and met a plain clothes man outside. I gave him the deer and he goes so we're good at 200? I say yes and when I think he is about to pull out the cash he pulls out a State Fish & Wildlife badge and 3 other cops come out of the woodwork. He slaps me with a misdemeanor for illegally selling an animal. I swear I thought I was getting Punk'd, waiting for the film crew to pop out. I literally would have thrown the thing away if I knew. The worst part is I'm moving to LA friday and my court date is in SF in a couple weeks. Any advice people have on how to get out of this? I'm still kind of in shock but got a hell of a story out of it I guess. [link] [comments] |
Trash company keeps charging us an overweight fee Posted: 25 Aug 2020 01:30 PM PDT We have a commercial trash bin. It is serviced by a 3rd party company that has a contract with a city to service commercial bins in our area. The company keeps charging us an overweight fee. I called the company and nobody can tell me what overweight is. There is no determined weight range. There is nothing in the contract that defines "overweight" - only that it will incur a pre-determined fee ($100 and it increases per year by a certain percentage). Today, I was present during pickup. I asked the driver how much the full trash bin weighed and he could not give me an answer, as he said it was determined by the truck through an alarm system. The weight of the bin would trigger an alarm and the weight would show up on the scale. The driver could not give me any sort of weight range that would trigger the alarm of the truck. The driver also could not tell me the weight of the empty bin because he said it would not trigger the alarm. Further, the truck is designed to pick up bins that are far bigger than our bin (our bin is a small 2 yard bin, the company services bins at least up to 4 yards because I inquired about pricing recently). This whole system seems pretty flimsy and arbitrary and I would like to pursue a refund of all overweight fees that has been charged. This whole overweight fee system is not transparent at all and seems pretty easy to manipulate and abuse and I believe is illegal as it stands. There is no determined range that defines overweight, nobody at the company can tell me what defines overweight, nobody can tell me what triggers an overweight notice (besides the truck), nobody can tell me if the weight of the bin factors into the scales or the weight. This whole system seems pretty arbitrary and unfair. The manager at the city does not even know what defines "overweight" and said their contract with them did not define "overweight" either - no weight range, no numbers, nothing. Is there any recourse? [link] [comments] |
Question about the Marital Exemption for Statutory Rape Posted: 25 Aug 2020 10:27 AM PDT Location: Idaho I was married at 16 to a man who was 22 and had gotten me pregnant. I got pregnant when I was still 15 (November 2015) he was 22, and had my child in the summer of 2016. We were married in the spring when I was 15 weeks pregnant. He forced my mom to sign the consent form through intimidation. We are no longer married and I have a restraining order against him. But I am wanting to file charges against him for the rape that led to my child and the grooming he put me through. But I live in a state that has a martial exemption that states a husband cannot be charged with statutory rape of his underage wife. Does anyone know if that still stands even though I was too young to even be legally married at the time of conception? So my child is living proof that he raped me before we were married? Ex girlfriend is threatening to use/ leak my debit card info Posted: 25 Aug 2020 05:47 AM PDT So I broke up with a girl a few days ago. She sends me a message saying that my debit card is saved on her phone from when she ordered food. She's threatening to use it and leak the numbers. I'm getting a new card today from the bank, if she uses it before that what do I do? Do I call the police? I have saved all the messages of her threatening to do it. Thank you friends [link] [comments] |
[MA] Showed up to move in to new apartment, old tenant’s lease isn’t up Posted: 25 Aug 2020 04:01 AM PDT I just drove from the Midwest to Boston to move in to a unit in a duplex. My lease started on August 24. I emailed the landlord about getting the key a few days ago and she didn't respond, so I called her yesterday morning (first day of lease). She told me that "most leases start on Sept. 1" and to call her closer to that day. I insisted that my lease starts on the 24th, but she said the same thing again and hung up. I called several times after and she didn't answer. I showed up at the place and someone lives there. The current tenant was very nice and showed me a copy of his lease, which goes until the 31st. He also tried to call the landlord but she didn't answer him. The landlord is not a native English speaker and has some trouble with english, and we thought she may have written the lease incorrectly and just realized her error. My problem is that now I have nowhere to go until Sept. 1. I have very little money until my next paycheck comes in (since I just paid first and last month's rent and a security deposit and broker's fee), so I am worried about getting a hotel. I slept in my car in a grocery store parking lot but would like to not do that again. Do I have any immediate recourse to get housing or make the landlord give me a hotel until the current tenant's move out? I assume I will eventually be able to file a small claims case or something, but I need somewhere to go short term. The landlord still won't pick up her phone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Aug 2020 06:32 PM PDT My elderly neighbor "Elmer" adopted a husky mix from a family down the street about eight months ago, possibly longer but the vet bills date back eight months. The family bought him for $40 from a Walmart parking lot with no proof of ownership. They never took the dog to a vet and after complained he was "untrainable" and not fit for a home with children. They mentioned wanting to abandon the dog out by the nearby military base so Elmer offered to take the dog until he could "find a home". Elmer took the dog to the vet and got him a check up that included his rabies vaccination which he received a tag for via mail. He also paid to have the dog neutered. I think there's been 4 vet visits total and he has receipts for all. Recently the father of the family, upon learning the dog is up to date on its medical care and has since been successfully house and leash trained, thinks that since Elmer initially said he intended to find the dog another home he should give it back to them since they want him now. Elmer evaded the initial request and has since been avoiding them. But the family has been making this a topic of conversation in the neighborhood. I doubt they have any legal standing in the matter but Elmer has a distrustful history with police (no police record on his part afaik) and fears if he keeps ignoring them his dog will be taken from him on the word of a white family. He makes it a point to express these fears to me almost daily and has asked if he should take the dog to live with his sister but it is apparent he would be very unhappy to not have him around the house. He's also stopped taking the dog on walks around the neighborhood and is driving every day to walk the dog elsewhere. Are there any measures I can help him take to further establish ownership of the dog? [link] [comments] |
Starbucks Cancelled my insurance during surgery Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:41 PM PDT Seattle, WA. A few years ago I had blown my ACL out on my day off of work. I have been working for Starbucks for five years at this time. I had the highest tier insurance package they offered and paid into it for the whole time I was employed. I went to the hospital to get my knee checked out and they advised me to get surgery to replace the ACL. I then went into work to speak with my manager about my situation. He helped me through the process of filing for medical leave. I had my medical leave approved by insurance company and Starbucks backed me with documented emails. I went into surgery on the day I was appointed and my insurance went through. I had two surgeries in total for the knee surgery. I paid my portion after insurance was applied. During this whole process, I had a Starbucks claim specialist checking in on me Weekly. It wasn't until I was in the third week of PT until I noticed a problem. PT said they couldn't accept me for my appointment because my insurance was not going through. Shocked, I called my insurance and they said I was taken off the insurance auto pay by my store location. Knowing this was a mistake, I called my Insurance specialist and they explained that there wasn't anything wrong. I then called several third party companies associated with my insurance company and found that after the surgery was finished, they cut my insurance off. I then owed over 20,000 dollars in surgery costs. I sent an appeal to Starbucks and they have not replied. What am I suppose to do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:02 PM PDT My family has a large field behind a house we do not live in regularly. We rarely see the back of the wooded field but there is a wire fence along the back that is poorly kept and leaning over in a few places. It has been there for at least 30 years. I was there this weekend and happened to see the fence and it appears the neighbors have removed part of it to make room for their new fence. There is a new survey marker posted about a foot in front of the neighbor's fence and a rolled up section of our wire fence on the ground on our side that was cut. They did not contact us about this before taking action. They have also been dumping grass clippings over the fence onto our wooded side and spraying weed killer, likely in an attempt to keep the overgrown vegetation away from the new fence. We generally only use the field for rabbit hunting so we intentionally do not cut the overgrown weeds. The new fence the neighbors built extends about 3 to 6 feet beyond the original fence line. obligatory mspaint diagram - https://imgur.com/a/0abPj6j Questions - Is adverse possession automatic or do we have to take action before the area in question is reclaimed by the original/new owner? Does the poor condition of the fence affect an adverse possession claim? Is the neighbor liable for replacing the cut section of fence if it was on their side of the original property line and in poor condition? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 02:16 PM PDT Just want to be sure i'm within my rights, and trying to figure out if there's any specific code I can cite to that effect. I put up a privacy fence in my yard across a lot-line window that was put in to satisfy an egress requirement for them which happened to go directly into my yard. I did this after finding multiple trespasses by the tenant. (she liked to use my yard as their smoking spot. Used to lift their kid out the fucking window into my yard to play with my dogs! Luckily my dogs aren't vicious, but that's never okay.) Additionally the owners have on several occasions accessed my property through that window without permission, and even dug up my yard to inspect for a leak in their below-grade wall (without permission) leaving a mess and a ruined garden. They've given contractors access to my property without permission through that same window. Lastly - and this is the sticking point. My elderly aunt lived in this house before it was passed to me.. They bullied her to no end in an attempt to get her to sell, and routinely did things that purposely damaged the property - there were several legal disputes which she (my aunt) won and had to have stop-work orders enforced against the crappy neighbors. Frankly, i don't give a damn about their desire to fudge the bedroom count by adding a sketchy egress - i am not ok with having an egress onto my property. It is my understanding that there are very few circumstances in NYC where i would be required to accommodate their lot line window. No easement exists & They do not have air rights over my property. It's an old neighborhood, and the building has been in my family since the 1920's - i literally have pictures of the backyard showing they used to have a backyard also - so there's no grandfathered exception here. Just making sure i understand all my rights to tell them to go pound sand (and also maybe talk to the DOB about their sketchy apartment). Do not want to pony up for representation if it's clear-cut. Advice welcome. [link] [comments] |
Restitution for getting car keyed Posted: 25 Aug 2020 11:57 AM PDT In early March my car was keyed by a friend's ex-girlfriend. I caught it on camera and she is facing criminal mischief 2 charges (state of Oregon). Due to COVID-19 the courts have been very slow at addressing the issue. I made an attempt out of court to settle (wrote her a letter stating if she pays me the amount I was quoted I would petition to have charges dropped). My victim advocate and I agreed to enter a deferred prosecution agreement that states her charges will be expunged provided she is not charged with another crime for 6 mos and pays me in full. Her public defender is asking that I provide my insurance policy to see if I have comprehensive insurance (which I do). #1 I don't think this is an insurance issue The problem is my car is a 97' 4runner. I got an initial quote a week after the incident from a shop in my college town for $1860 which did not include a rental car. Given that every panel on the driver's side has a deep scratch the entire side of the car would have to be repainted and would need to be in the shop for 6-10 days. Assuming an average rental cost of $50/day the true cost would be closer to $2100-$2300. I have since graduated and moved back to Portland where repair costs are much higher. I am currently working so I am unable to travel to the shop that gave me the initial quote. I have since gotten a new estimate to reflect the cost of repair where I currently reside. The new quote including a rental car is $3500. Given that the courts criteria for restitution are the lesser of "replace or repair" and my car's KBB value is ~3800. The car is currently insured as my dad's 2nd vehicle to save money. I am legally covered if I were to get in an accident however it may raise some eyebrows if my insurance company has to pay out on an incident in a town where the car supposedly does not reside permanently. Not to mention I may have my car totaled by insurance since the cost is as much as the value of the car. KKB's estimate of $3800 is not indicative of the car's value since 4runners in the NW tend to sell at a premium due to the high demand for the vehicle. My question is do I refrain from giving the defense my insurance information and explain to the judge the potential ramifications of having insurance cover vandalism to my vehicle. I believe this should not fall on my insurance because the defendant and her family have the means to pay for the damage. I do not want my car to have a salvage title and have my rates increase as a result of this, not to mention having my father's policy canceled as a result. How should I proceed in this situation? My leasing company charged me $165 for a "pandemic cleaning" (GA) Posted: 25 Aug 2020 06:26 AM PDT I just moved out of my rental apartment in Georgia, and the leasing company charged $165 for a "pandemic cleaning." First, the security deposit was returned to me, less $165, with no notice of why the money was taken out. Our apartment was left in excellent shape. We cleaned from top to bottom and sanitized everything. The new tenant won't move in until a month after we moved out. When I asked about the missing amount, I was told, "You left the place clean, but given the pandemic I am professionally cleaning every unit upon move out." How is this OK legally? Do I have any recourse to get this money back? It doesn't seem like that should be my monetary responsibility. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Aug 2020 09:45 PM PDT Cross-posting this from r/weedbiz because someone recommended I'd find better help here. I need help with filing an OSHA complaint because I've never done it before. I don't want it tracing back to me either. I'm not even sure if OSHA would be the most appropriate place to report this to, so any suggestions and advice is highly welcomed. I recently started a job as a trimmer for a CBD hemp distribution center. I've been in the cannabis industry before, so I'm familiar with basic cannabis regulations on the dispensary/retail level. Hemp is unregulated, so anything goes. But I've started to notice some really unsettling things that makes me want to resign.
There are a million other things going on that seems very unethical. I will probably resign soon because it feels morally wrong to trim molded hemp that someone might potentially consume and cause them great illness. A reason why I joined the cannabis industry is to help people through the goodness of cannabis. I do not feel right working here. Like I said, the owners have connections with the local police and I really don't want my throat slit for doing the right thing. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
URGENT: Huge dead & severed branch in fence line tree - severe storms approaching. Posted: 25 Aug 2020 10:20 AM PDT (NJ) Several days ago I noticed a very large dead branch that'd broken off a tree along our fence. It looks to be 10" or more in diameter at the thickest point, and about 30' or more in length. It's caught on other, smaller branches, which have stopped it falling so far, but it's definitely been moving over the last few days. The tree is literally in the line of the fence between our and our neighbor's house, which she put up before we bought our house. IIRC, she's said the main fence is 1' inside the property line on her side, which puts about a third of the tree's trunk on our side, so I assume it belongs to us both (though she referred to it as "her tree" when I spoke to her a few years ago about wanting to have it cut down because it drops tons of obnoxious purple berries every summer). I texted my neighbor about the branch the day after noticing it, and she said it wasn't a problem. Over the next few days I texted her several times saying I thought it was a problem, and could do a lot of damage if brought down by the storms predicted. I suggested she call the tree service she's used in the past, because I figured we might get a better price - I've never used a tree service since our trees are smaller and more DIY-able when trimming is necessary. Her final reply was that she wasn't concerned about the branch, and would deal with any damage if it comes down on her side. Sure, on her side it might damage her gazebo; on our side it could potentially take out our shed, or even our kitchen. My question is, if we both "own" the tree and she refuses to split the cost of taking care of the problem with us, what are we supposed to do? Can I get it taken care of (assuming we can even afford it - we're both still furloughed) and bill her for half? Or if we can't afford it and don't do anything, is she at all liable for any damage because she refused to help with the cost? Thanks in advance for any advice! [link] [comments] |
Twitter received a subpoena for my user information Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:36 PM PDT Throw away account, because I don't wish to be identified. Last week, Twitter Legal sent me an email that they had received a subpoena for my account information from a U.S. district court. Apparently, the subpoena was issued about two months ago, and they were requested to provide pretty much any and all account information (name, phone number, email, IP address, etc). They let me know that they are going to turn over some or all of this information to the requester by this Friday (the 28th), unless I decide to try and file a motion to quash the subpoena. Apparently, it must have come to the attention of someone in federal law enforcement that a comment I made on a thread, in June, about "if you could punch one elected official, and not face any legal consequences, who would you choose?" Could possibly be in violation of 18 u.s.c 879: threats against the president or vice president/etc. Without going into detail in the comment, to avoid someone finding it, I will say that it is obviously not a threat, nor does it use any threatening language ("I will harm them" or "I want to/plan on harming them in this way"). The language of the comment is basically "I think if I punched them hard enough, they might die". Maybe a joke in poor taste, but certainly not a threat. Especially in the context of parody which it was. My questions are: 1. Should I already be talking with an Attorney? How can I do that before I have been contacted by the government? 2. Should I be expecting a visit from federal agents? How soon will that be? 3. Is there any possibility that, because they have taken so long to perform this legal process, they might just be checking me out to see if I am dangerous, and not contact me at all? Forgive me for my naivety, but I never thought that I might be a target of a federal criminal investigation. It is all very surreal to me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:17 PM PDT My daughter was the victim of someone maliciously creating fake Snapchat accounts, in her name, and spreading it around her large school. She had taken a nude of herself, at age 14 (super dumb, I know), during her freshman year of high school. I took her out of school for her junior year, and the first semester of her senior year, which is this school year. On her second day of returning to school, in January 2020, the person created the account and spread the picture, along with a stash of pictures of other girls in the school, with my daughter as the owner of the account, and even posed as her when typing. Snapchat shut the account down, and the person repeatedly created new ones, 7 or 8 times, according to the school officer. After months of waiting, and also being patient because of quarantine, the police officer told me that they did not get a confession from the suspects, and therefore closed the case. I want to know if there is anything I can do to seek accountability for the culprit. If they had enough evidence to suspect someone, I would think they could prove it, not just needing a confession. Real Estate, Seller never submitted disclosures, but trying to say buyers in breach... help! Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:12 AM PDT Hello all--so my husband and I are in the process of escrow, which was originally set to close on September 4thish. This is all happening in Los Angeles (for the sake of specific legal obligations). We submitted an offer on July 20th, which was accepted on the 21st with a counter offer, which we signed on the 23rd. Our inspection occurred on the 30th. We received the report, and sent a request to repair some pretty menial things on the August 3rd. the seller than sat on this form for several weeks while the listing agent told us he was getting quotes and 'working on it' but did not sign or submit anything back to us. All the meanwhile, we have not received the disclosures report, which we still do not have to this day, and we have been asking for it (I'll get to the specifics of our contingencies in a minute). The listing agent flew to Chicago for her father's knee surgery, and did not answer a text or email from our agent in that time (six days). All the while--before and since--she's still been telling us he is 'stubborn' and she's had to 'talk to her manager' because he's not giving her information on the request for repairs. Still no disclosures. Meanwhile, we've been filling out and submitting every piece of paper that comes our way within days of receiving. But, for a couple of weeks, it felt like time stood still. We're getting worried and antsy, bothering our agent, who in turn keeps bothering his agent... and here we are. Still no disclosures, still nothing on the request for repairs AND now, our appraisal (done on time within contracted obligations) has come in 10k low. We fought it, twice. Appeals didn't work, so we also submit paperwork to the seller on that as well, requesting a price reduction. All the while, we're expecting conversation and compromise on this--not demanding, but trying to open up dialogue, but not getting anything at all. Our contract requires that we remove contingencies in 21 days, which we're now definitely worried about (well, we're past that now but anyway) but we still don't have an answer on the request to repair, or reduce price, and we still do not have disclosures which he was contractually obligated to give us in the first 7 days of the contract, by our agreement at the beginning of the sale. It's well past that now, and we've done everything EXCEPT remove contingencies by day 21, because we have no information yet. Still. Today, our listing agent called us in a tizzy. He actually had us sign to remove contingencies on Friday. We did so, and it was submitted to the seller. NOW the selling agent has submitted a cancellation notice saying that she sent OUR agent a 'notice to perform' at like 10pm on Thursday night, which gives us a two day turnaround. He was in the hospital having kidney stones removed on Friday, so even though we signed the document (and there's a times stamp to prove it on the docusign form) on Friday, she's now claiming that WE failed to act and so we're getting this cancellation. However, we STILL do not have the disclosures, anywhere. They don't exist. He then, is technically in breach of contract, right? Would this then nullify the contingency notice to perform as well as the cancellation notice? There seems to be a lot of bad faith negotiating here. If this is the case, as I've been reading all night, we have the right to cancel ourselves and back out and get our earnest deposit and everything back... but we REALLY REALLY want this house, and do not WANT to back out. Are we in breach, or is he? Do we have a case for specific performance--can we still end up with the house in all of this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 08:42 AM PDT So a couple weeks ago I started receiving multiple phone calls per day from Credit One Bank for a debtor that is not me. I've had the same number since 2012 so outside of them giving a random number, I don't know how this happened. I told them this, they apologized, and I asked them to stop but it doesn't stop. I blocked the number but now they're calling from different numbers. For the last week, it's gotten even worse. Then yesterday they called at 8:57 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:10 AM, 12:46 PM, 1:02 PM, 1:19 PM, 1:32 PM, 2:12 PM, 2:31 PM, 4:26 PM, 4:51 PM, 5:12 PM, 6:34 PM, and 8:04 PM. This is absolutely batshit and I don't know what else to do. I turned off my phone after the last call last night because this is too much. How can I get it to stop? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 01:35 PM PDT Let me start with: we take complete responsibility. We 100% believe our neighbor. We want to do everything we can to make sure our neighbor is made whole. We really like him and his family, and we share a driveway. We don't want any animosity. Our elderly neighbor just came over to let us know that our 5 year old son scratched his newer car several times with a stick. He saw him do it. He waited a few days to talk to us because he was nervous to bring it up. We have become good friends with this man and his family, and we really want to make sure his car gets fixed... but we have no money. We are completely broke after bills. We have homeowners, and we have auto insurance. Neither part is sure how to proceed. Do we handle this through insurance? Does he go get an estimate and we submit it to the appropriate insurer? I am mortified that our child did this. We try to give him a little independence to play outside, keep watch on him as best we can without following his every step, and this happens. I am so embarrassed. Any and all advice appreciated. Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
[MO] Landlord is trying to force me into their own renter's insurance. Is this legal? Posted: 25 Aug 2020 10:48 AM PDT I've never lived in an apartment before so this is all kind of new to me. I'm currently starting the process of moving into a new apartment in St. Louis. I have not moved in yet. In my lease (that I have already signed) it requires me to have renter's insurance with a bunch of specific stipulations. All of them are pretty standard, and I have had no problems finding coverage for all of these conditions, except for bedbugs caused by tenant negligence. As I understand, most renter's insurance doesn't cover bed bugs in this way, since bed bugs are usually a landlord/maintenance issue. I emailed my property manager asking for clarification on this matter, since I could not find any plan that covered bed bugs like this. Her response was that bed bug coverage was included in their company's renter's insurance, for almost double the monthly price of every other plan I've found. It really feels like the bed bug thing is in the lease just to force me into their insurance. But I'm stuck, because I literally cannot find an insurance plan that will cover this dumb bed bug thing, and I have to have insurance in order to comply with my lease. Am I just forced to take their insurance? Is this even legal? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 02:30 PM PDT I was just looking for advice as my mother locks me in my room. Doesn't buy food or drinks. To the point where my neighbor (67 y/o f) has been buying me food and drinks and it another responsibility to do so. Recently my mother freaked out on the neighbor whom I've gone too and asked for help with food and drinks. My mom threatened her and said she'd have her arrested because she's buy me food and drinks and sit it in my porch steps for me to get. She does it when my mom's passed out from drinking and smoking all day. She also does pills along with doing something more hard than just pills, weed, and alcohol. I'm not sure what she's on as I don't know much about drugs, I'm totally against them and have never even thought of touching anything including weed. All's I know is that it's some kinda powdered. I tried looking up what it was and when I searched online it came up that it can be ketamine, coke, or heroin. CPS have been her multiple times and she has failed multiple drug tests. Ive told my case worker multiple times she's on drugs and that I've seen her do it and found it. I've actually got high by accident as when I touched it, too try and dispose of it. I guess it soaked into my skin? That's what it says online that it can soak thru your skin and you can get it in your system. When that happened I told the case worker and asked for a drug screen. The drug screen came up for crack cocaine, they didn't believe that it was my mother's and thought I was the one doing it. Also I'd love me to mention that the case worker is someone my mom use to date in highschool years ago. They stayed in touch are are friends and hang out regularly. What do I do? I need help I feel that my only option is to run away or do something more drastic. I can't continue to live like this. When I was 6 she let her husband (whom she married after 2 months) sexually abuse me. When I told aj adult at school and my gram mother. They didn't believe me and accused me of lying. I asked to get an exam done at the doctors and they refused. I feel I have nothing to live for if I continue to deal with this for another 4 years. I can't do it, I just want to end it. I'm begging for help someone please. I'm 14F and I'm not the brightest I have a learning disability and need help. Please someone help me. [link] [comments] |
