Question In Regards to Raising Funding for Long-Term High-Risk Businesses

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:15 PM PDT

    Hello all,

I was curious about how businesses that have high risks of failure and long turnaround times go about securing funding. We see successful businesses in the space industry nowadays (SpaceX, RocketLab, Blue Origin). How would a business like this go about securing funding if its owner isn't a billionaire.

Just asking this out of curiosity, thanks!

Looking for advice on investing in a sportswear company

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:16 AM PDT

Hey guys in the last couple of months I've been making waves to start my own sportswear company as it's always been a dream of mine. I'm still in college so I needed to find the easiest way to do this without investing all my time so I decided to look for a supplier to do all the work based on my designs. Anyways upon looking for a supplier I came across another sportswear company about 60km from me who agreed to print what I needed but offered a proposition to bring me on board as 50/50 owner. Half the company would be valued at around €20,000. I do not have 20k disposable income just lying about in fact my bank account is in minus figures due to college and losing my job thanks to covid, that being said I know there is an opportunity to work off that fee eg. give away 25% of all my profits until I pay off the 20k. It doesnt sound too sketch as I do have a desirable skillset missing from this company and the current owner like myself is also a college student so I can understand why he wants to shift some of the workload. It would make it far easier on me walking straight into an established company rather than trying to build my own as this company is already 2 years old. Obviously I need to do more research before ever investing time or money but on the surface I dont see any red flags other than being offered something like this so early. Let me know if you have any words or advice for me. Thanks

The US business world needs stability by the means of regulations and reform in order for it to recover.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:54 AM PDT

Stability in society means that businesses that liability protections against COVID deaths in the workplace, healthcare policies pivoting to include COVID coverage as a standard, lack of protests, and enforcement of policies/laws that promote business market competition.

We are walking into an economy that is far more ludicrously skewered toward logistics and technology firms who have over concentrated control over trade. Our primary manufacturing sectors are healthcare and aerospace. Agriculture is going into a massive decline due to the massive decline in demand from businesses such as restaurants.

It is our politician's responsibility in telling business leaders to re-pivot their businesses to reshape our culture to ensure that we keep our livelihoods, and if necessary use the force of law to retain some form of stability.

My business partner want's to step out of the business. How much should I pay him?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:02 PM PDT

My partner and I run a small cleaning company. Our net profit is 50k per year, which we split in half. We have 2 cleaning machines and 2 leased cars, which have no more really a value (maybe 8k altogether). Besides that, we have no buildings, nor any other properties or capital. We employ 8 staff members. You can say that if we stop working tomorrow, our earnings go to zero.

Now he want to quit and asked for 50k to leave the whole company. This is actually (as mentioned) what he would make in 2 years, but without any work. This number seems to me incredibly high since there is indeed no guarantee that we will retain all the customers the 2 years or longer. What would be the fair price? Is there any standart for cases like these?

Order Management System as a Service

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:30 PM PDT

As a side project I developed an order management system for my friend. I decided that I can use it to serve more than one customer. Put it up on cloud, as a service. Didn't find a lot of order management systems being offered as a service.

The system is designed to take live orders. It comes with an android app that can scan bar codes and send that data to the server. The system keeps track of the order details and organizes them. It helps the user to automate the back end pipeline (basically the work that needs to be done after receiving the order).

    Need feedback and reviews.

    Back-of-business apartment?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:59 PM PDT

Hello, all! I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct place to post this, so if I need to go somewhere else please let me know!

I'll get to the point. I'm hoping to open a bar in the next 12 to 18 months and in an attempt to manage the rest of my life and budget I'm considering the possibility of converting a back room space into a one-bedroom apartment for myself. However, I'm confused on the legal and zoning aspects of that. Is this something I can do? Are there extra permits I'd need to take out?

Thanks in advance for any advice or perspective!

    Need help

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:14 PM PDT

So I've ordered a product costing over 1k euros. It's a built on demand replica of a wwi machinegun. This one is hand made and built from scratch. His product page on his website states that the build will take up to 2 months, I emailed him after I sent the money and he again stated it will take up to 2 months, but it can depend on how much time he has. It is now over 2 months later, and I asked him for an eta... his reply: "another 6 months". I told him that this is absurd and he has to get it done much faster, his reply: "Well I did say that this project is going way faster than previous ones..." (in a previous email he had said that the build is quicker than usual). Is there anything I can do, even legally, to encourage him to stick to his word? Never before has he said it will take this long, he always said 2 moths ("I think it's about 2 months. Hard to tell because my equipment, free-time and skill change all the time. I will send you updates with photos during the building process") - this is from the email after I first paid. I understand it's a fairly weak argument considering he made a kind of disclosure and that the product is custom made. But any help will be greatly appreciated.

AUS Tax time, but wanting to close the business down. Any advice?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:02 PM PDT

21 year old with my first business here - as you could probably tell - This business was producing revenue this past year, but wanted to close it down, but tax time has come around.

I've never paid myself from the business. The business debit card has only been used for business expenses. I want to now close the business down

The obvious answer is that I still have give tax before closing the business down.

My question is, in AUS tax law for a PTY LTD, what are the tax breaks I can get?

Also, are there any other questions I should be asking in my situation?

    Thanks guys for the help!
