LLC, Inc., Non-Profit/ Not for Profit, or something else

LLC, Inc., Non-Profit/ Not for Profit, or something else

    I live in Florida

I'll begin contract work for an organization that provides Targeted Case Management and Counseling services for self-pay clients and individuals on Medicaid.

I'll be serving as a case manager. I have a full-time job, and this will be—part-time thing for me.

The company states if I have an LLC, they can pay my LLC directly.

In the future, I'm interested in opening a similar company. I'm trying to figure out sooner than later what sort of company would this classify as. I want to establish a company name earlier than later so that potential future clients can associate myself easier with my company in the future. However, I don't know what to classify said company/ organization as.

Also, if anyone has any information on becoming a Florida Medicaid provider, that would be helpful. I have a Bachelors in Social Work and a Masters in something else. I've been thinking about going back to Graduate school to get my MSW and start the process of becoming licensed. Do I need be a licensed healthcare provider in the state to bill Medicaid of can I provide social services such as guardianship and case management.

    Thank you in advance.

Is it really advisable to have a partner [life partner/spouse] who’s a business person too?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 12:06 AM PDT

Most of my mentors keep on advising me to actually look for someone who's business minded too because they say it would benefit me and the businesses the long run. Are there anyone here who's partner's inclined to business too? Did it work out well for the both of you?

    All answers will be appreciated.

    fraternal/maternal leave

During maternal and fraternal leave, is it too far fetched to reduce their pay to minimum wage and give them a credit card limited to $1000 per month?

What factors would you take into consideration when deciding whether to buy an established business or start your own?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 04:19 PM PDT

Here is an applicable scenario I am watching unfold:

*My friend works in a construction related industry and has for a few years. He wants to have his own business. He has been considering buying an established company, putting down as much as what you would pay for a house. This would be a businness loan.

He owns his apartment in an expensive area outright and has an extremely wealthy father so he isn't coming from poverty.

The niche he wants to get into is heavily competitive and large businesses have contracts with the government for example.

Given I had to explain a concept as simple as the difference between profit and revenue and given he tried to tell me a $600,000 business turned over $2 million in profit, I simply dont believe he has the aptitude to run a company that big.

I found another worth $1.5m and after he was sent the info i kept prompting him and asking questions about the one he wished to buy.

    Eg

Whats the revenue? Whats the profit?

    What's included in the sale?

Isn't the equipment included in the sale, is that why the price is what it is?

Are the owners going to stay on board to train you?

He couldn't answer a single question.

I questioned him about the amount of work it takes and he said he won't run it, just own it and "business would be business as usual"....

He also got angry about the fact he had to sign a disclosure form and didnt seem to understand the technical and legal neccessity for that and said it made things suss... I had to explain to him it was related to them making sure he wasn't a competitor stealing the $$ info on their books or sticky nosing at their contracts for example but he still didn't understand.*

To start at the lower end of that industry it would take only a bit of money ($25,000-100,000) but far more work since you would have to find your own clients and contracts.

To be honest I dont really know what route it would be advisable to take, I am not his business advisor. I have worked for myself for about 7 years as a subcontractor but not in the capacity of a business owner or adviser.

But what factors do you take into consideration when you decide:

    a. I would rather start from zero.

    or

    b. I would rather just buy this established company with a client base for a huge chunk of money.

    Recording Small Business Expenses!

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:18 AM PDT

Regardless of the size of the company - I have two questions in terms of recording small business expenses:

    1. When using phone apps (or software), what are some of the issues you encounter when recording (or tracking) business expenses?
    2. What are some features you wish those business expense apps/software had available to make things more "enjoyable" or less time-consuming?
    3. What do you absolutely hate about business expense tracking/recording apps (or software)?

About to get put into a roll up, need advice

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 05:35 PM PDT

    Hi ya'll,

Figured I would post here to get more information about this as this is my first time getting involved in an acquisition. I run a digital agency that has caught the eye of investor looking to roll us up with a couple other agencies that specialize in separate but related fields. I feel like a cub about to enter a lions den. It would help to get some advice on what what to expect, pros vs cons, but most importantly - what I stand to lose vs stand to gain. Any help on that matter would be greatly appreciated!

Finance & IS or Finance & Accounting?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:22 AM PDT

So, I'm currently double majoring finance and information systems. I have a 3.9 gpa right now at a non-target school. I'm almost done with the finance major, but I haven't started the IS major yet except having taken the into course. However, I'm considering changing my major to finance and accounting as I see that a lot of people on here say that finance majors struggle getting jobs and can only get sales roles. Which combo do you think is better? If I do finance & IS, I will probably graduate with a 3.8 or 3.9. If finance & accounting, maybe a 3.3 or 3.4. Would I still be able to get a decent job with a finance & IS major with a 3.8/3.9 gpa? Could I transfer to an accounting role later with my current majors? Thanks for your help!

Should I invest in Take2 Interactive?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:19 AM PDT

I am thinking of investing about $20000 dollars on Take2 for a long term of ~5 years. A few reasons are that sources indicate they will be releasing 93 games in the span of 5 years and most likely one of them will be GTA6. My bet is that it will be the best selling entertainment product of all time. Another reason is that gaming is rising and many people, especially in developing giants like India are exposed to gaming, making it more likely that soon PC/Console gaming will beat Mobile gaming. I am not sure though, just wanted some feedback
