Stock Market - Stock Watch List April 1, 2020

Stock Watch List April 1, 2020

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 06:00 AM PDT

Good Morning, here's my watch list

Gap Ups: CEMI, IFRX, INSG, QUMU

Gap Downs: AMD, BA, BYND, CAR, HSBC, LYFT, MU, ROKU, SQ, TWTR, VRNT, WYNN

Sorry for the late list, I have been busy this morning. Market is gapping down, No stocks with individual catalyst. I mentioned yesterday the weekly 200 MA over head could act as resistance. Now well see if the market continues lower. Next support level, last low on SPY at 218. level. Things might be a bit choppy today so be patient and wait for solid patterns before entering trades. Good luck

Schools closed for the rest of semester.

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:20 PM PDT

Just putting this information out for investors who may not have children or a reason to keep up with schools, but today we got told that (in Georgia at-least), schools will be shut down for the rest of this semester. No more school till after summer break at least. Not entirely sure how they are gonna be handling year end testing, but I'm sure it will involve a "virtual" way, just like all the school work we've been doing on Schoology, Moby Max, and Clever Portal.

People much wiser than I may know what to do with this information, but just thought I'd pass it along. We are also getting a new "shelter in place" order. Most small businesses here are getting completely shut down, and the police have been way more active with curfews.

Regardless of the virus' actual spread rate, the fear is spreading more so.

SFL: why isn't the price increasing?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 01:39 PM PDT

This is an interesting video on how to benefit from the current oil contango. Personally, I like this thesis—and, so far, it's been paying off.

But I'm curious as to why this trade doesn't seem to be positively impacting SFL. They are a solid company (look at their EPS and FCF growth over time), they have consistently been profitable, and they even pay a dividend. But throughout the contango, their stock has basically followed the S&P—yet they aren't a major company where most of the stock is passively owned.

It seems strange to me that they'd be down 25% this month, while something like NAT is up 40%... thoughts?

Whiting Petroleum bankruptcy - how bad do you think its going to get for the oil industry

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:44 PM PDT

With the first oil company declaring how many more do you expect to see in the coming weeks/months? Even if the Saudis and Russians get over their little spat soon, demand will still be down from the quarantines. Shale producers need the higher prices to even stay in business.

How bad do you think its going to get for the industry as a whole?

New Investor: Where Are We in the Debt Cycle?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 06:40 PM PDT

I am somewhat new to investing. Do you guys think we are at the top of the long-term debt cycle (or at least were before the recent crash)? Or is all of this crash solely due to the changes associated with the coronavirus?

Was the coronavirus a catalyst for an already about to pop "everything debt bubble"?

I'm trying to gauge where the bottom might be, and if this drop is caused by coronavirus, I'd say we're close. If coronavirus just kicked off the downward trend of a long-term debt cycle, I'd say we have a while to go before we hit bottom.

And wouldn't the fed printing trillions only further inflate the bubble, and therefore further increase the drop? Or I guess at this point they might be smoothing out the drop that's already started.

Investing home equity into the stock market

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 06:35 PM PDT

Lets say I want to take out 50k from my heloc and invest all of it long term in the stock market for a few years.

Does it sound crazy or is it a reasonable action since everything is on sale right now?

Has anyone ever used home equity to invest in the stock market? Please advise. Thanks.

I keep seeing that AAPL is a buy at the moment. I personally think it's a good investment seeing that apple has a ton of cash on hand and can sustain these tough times. What's your personal opinion on AAPL.

    ARNC / HWM Stock

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 11:33 AM PDT

With Arconic Inc. splitting into two standalone companies, Arconic Corp. and Howmet Aerospace, what is everyone's opinion on the stock? Arconic is the leader in aluminum sheet, plate, extruded, and architectural products. Before the split, these companies helped generated more than $7B which is up from 5% the previous year.

I may be missing a few points here and there but they are all in these two articles attached:

Is the federal reserve buying stocks and real estate now?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 08:00 AM PDT

Sorry for a probably stupid question, but is the Fed now directly buying everything with money they can just create out of thin air? If so, won't that cause inflation or other problems? Where is this going? I, obviously, have no idea what I'm talking about but can someone explain what the hell is going on? Will the Fed own all stocks and mortgages once all is said and done? Will commercial banks go bust because of that? Will we all get an account at the Fed or ECB or BOJ?? I'm clueless but wtf??...

Loeffler reports more stock sales amid insider trading allegations

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:42 PM PDT

U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler's most recent financial disclosures show that millions of dollars in stocks were sold on her behalf at the same time Congress was dealing with the impact of the coronavirus.

The largest transactions — and the most politically problematic — involve $18.7 million in sales of Intercontinental Exchange stock in three separate deals dated Feb. 26 and March 11. Loeffler is a former executive with ICE, and her husband, Jeff Sprecher, is the CEO of the company, which owns the New York Stock Exchange among other financial marketplaces.

    5G Tech Stocks

Evening all! Super green when it comes to investing but I have a little cash I wanna mess with and I'm looking into tech companies that will pave the way for 5G and AI. I've looked at chip makers like Qorvo, Skywork Solutions, Qualcomm and then also looking at Nvidia. What other tech companies should I be considering when it comes to these markets. Something I can buy now sit on for a bit while the technologies develop! Thanks everyone!

    Purchase timing for long term

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 02:48 PM PDT

I've slowly been accruing some stocks during the past week or so, which brought a question to my head. Should I worry about buying during the lowest points if I'm strictly building a portfolio for the long term? Obviously buying on dips when you can is helpful, but should I worry about doing it 100% of the time?

    Bad idea or not?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 05:54 PM PDT

Would it be a particularly bad idea to take out an investment loan while everything is down even though we can't be certain of when it's going to come back up? I've been educating myself on the market for about two years now but have never had the money to actually buy into it, I'm thinking that now's the time, but am uncertain as to how safe it really is.

Stock market charting tool where figures change based on time range selected

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 09:07 AM PDT

If memory serves me correctly, the old Google Finance stock market tool had a nifty feature that I'm having trouble finding with any other web site.

With the old Google Finance chart, when you changed the range to 1 year, the figures related to the stock price would change to match that 1 year (i.e. the beginning price, end price, and the % change). If you changed to 1 month, the figures would change appropriately. If you manually manipulated the chart to a specific time range, the stock price figures would also change to match that exact time range.

What I see now with Google Finance, Yahoo Finance, and all the others is that the figures shown at the top represent the price and changes of today, regardless of what time range you've selected in the chart.

Does anyone know any stock market web sites that have the feature I'm describing?

    Question about aftermarket stocks.

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 05:34 PM PDT

If I buy a stock right now after hours what price do I buy it at? The price listed right now or the price that the market opens at?

For example Whiting Petroleum is very low right now and closed at Down 45%. If I buy it now after hours will I still be buying at this very low price or will my order be executed at the price the market opens at Thursday morning.

    Thank you!
