RIP Jack Welch, former CEO of GE Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:52 AM PST Lots of boomers put their kids through college with GE in the 80s-90s. [link] [comments] |
The "Which brokerage service should I switch to now that one in particular has lost my trust" Thread Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:10 AM PST Mods autoremove anything mentioning the name of the app - but I think this is a worthwhile thread because there are a lot of investors here dealing with this problem today. A certain brokerage service has sh*t the bed on a volatile and important trading day, and I'd like to switch to another broker. Which ones do you guys use? What do you like/dislike about them? For me personally - I'm looking for a free one, that has a decent app. It's a plus if they will cover my cancellation fee. What are you guys doing? Thank you! EDIT: Consensus seems to generally be Schwab or TD Ameritrade! [link] [comments] |
NYC ER doctor: I have to 'plead to test people' for coronavirus Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:36 PM PST I stumbled across this cnbc link on r/Coronavirus https://www.cnbc.com/video/2020/03/02/coronavirus-testing-emergency-room-doctor-cdc-department-health-squawk-box.html Dr. Scott Gottlieb, member of the boards of Pfizer and biotech company Illumina and former FDA commissioner, and Dr. Matt McCarthy, an infectious disease physician, join "Squawk Box" to discuss the latest on the coronavirus outbreak. CNBC anchor men aside, it is a sobering interview on what is happening on the ground in the USA and how the doctors are dealing (or not) with the coronavirus. [link] [comments] |
The stock market is rising today Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:33 AM PST The Dow industrials rose more than 500 points as of today due to the central banks. Do you guys think the effects of the virus will outlast the efforts of the banks? Leading to a bigger decline? [link] [comments] |
Death toll form cv is up to 4 in the us Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:09 PM PST Don't think things are about to get any better in stocks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:46 PM PST I got into Ibio seeing from this board and had first success ever, so my payback to fellow members. Here are few hiden gems, which are still dirt cheap but have potential as the corona scare increases. Please note its just my opinion after my own research and facts search, do your own research always.
The above three are diamonds just read their press releases and their patents for corona
If you have some money then 1. Lake 2. Mrna 3. Apt but only if it goes down below 14$ If you want to get some cheap gold if market crashes then: 1. Mnd.to very high book ratio and dirt cheap If you want to profit off corona sales and have extra chunk of money then 1. Fb cause of add revenue due to Corona scare 2. Dltr cause of increase in sales this quarter If you want to put in safe-heaven with dividends till the scare is over 1. Nxr.un 2. Pza Caution One stock htbx is being pumped stay clear Some other good stocks which are in pennies due to the scare in other sectors/ good buy if you think market will pickup: Hexo, acb, snap, xlnx, fire.to, sdc [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:32 AM PST So like many of other new investors I figured the dip would be a good time to get into stocks and hat I didn't account for was the waiting time after opening my account. I opened my account with ally and had too wait 3 days for funds to appear in my account and 3 days for processing. So it looks like I won't be buying during the dip after all. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:22 PM PST Just wait for the Q1 reports then every one will realize how much money the world has lost and how companies are performing and everything will go back to shit I feel it will drop even more. Today was nothing it was just a small bump a grasp of hope:) [link] [comments] |
A fact to ponder in relation to today’s performance Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:04 PM PST In context to today's S&P's 4.6% gain... Two of the largest S&P percentage daily gains in history were in October of 2008. 10/13/08: +11.58% (5th all time) 10/28/08: +10.79% (6th all time) On the flip-side, 2008 also has two of the largest S&P daily percentage declines in history... 10/15/08: -9.04% (6th all time) 12/01/08: -8.93% (7th all time) So, what is to make of this? My take is simple. The near term future may be bright, it may be bleak, but there is no way to properly indicate that from a single day's performance. Therefore, if you have a horizon of 5+ years, you should continue to try to find, relative to its historic multiples (as well as industry multiples), undervalued companies that have a business model that you fully understand, strong brand equity and predictable future growth prospects. And if this process is too extensive or complicated, just continue to DCA your preferred S&P index fund. Easy as that. [link] [comments] |
Looking to buy during the current downtrend Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:40 AM PST What stocks are you guys looking into buying with the current state of the market. Seems like a great time to possibly enter with intentions of capitalizing of the value of current stocks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:08 PM PST I've been hearing a lot of the stock market dropping, is it a good idea to invest now since the stocks are cheaper or are they not cheaper? [link] [comments] |
What are the real differences between SPY and SPYG Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:48 AM PST They look mostly the same from the holdings but I need some expertise. [link] [comments] |
Looking for opinion on BEST FREE online stock monitoring platform Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:38 AM PST Hi Stock wises, I am looking for some kind of stock market monitoring platform that shows news feed and stock tickers (the ones I choose). [link] [comments] |
Has the corona stocks forecast changed? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:19 PM PST I saw a lot of people talking about corona stocks to buy today like Ibio and Rttr. Have your outlooks changed considering that these stops fell when the Dow went up? Or is this an even better opportunity to buy? I made about a 75% profit in two days off Nvax and Lake and don't want to be too risky. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:26 AM PST Hey guys, Been lurking for some time on this sub and I would like to seek advice in the following topic: I have around 3500USD to invest and seeing the markets crashing in the last few weeks my finger is on the trigger. The plan is to buy:
I would invest an even 350USD in each, and the plan is to just leave the stocks hanging for 5 years or even more, so it's more like a savings account. Does this make sense? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Is it dollar cost averaging or bag holding? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:15 AM PST Clearly, for generations the powers that be haven't given a shit about the future of younger folks-- with the way they've used (or looked the other way from) all kinds of levers to manipulate the market to get re-elected, ran up historically high debt, being soft on environmental issues to not slow down production, overpromising unsustainable pensions/SS that they know won't survive the next 50 years, etc. And with the recent drop in the market, now they're 'reminding' us to dollar cost average because we have decades to go before retirement so we can take the short term hit?? I'm starting to think fat cats want young people to be bag holders, when what I think we should do is have this market reset to SUSTAINABLE levels so we can put our money in and have some reasonable growth for OUR retirement.. This market WAS and IS a bubble, so for those who are buying right now (and not a fund that needs to try and make something work at all times) what do you think about what I wrote? Disclosure: I currently go in and out of UVXY, but when I feel that there will be an uptrend in SP500, I will go long on IVV. [link] [comments] |
Suri to step down as Nokia CEO Posted: 01 Mar 2020 11:55 PM PST Struggling to gain a foothold in the 5G market, Nokia (NYSE:NOK) CEO Rajeev Suri is stepping down after just over half a decade at the helm of the Finnish network firm. He'll be replaced by Pekka Lundmark, the outgoing CEO of Fortum Oyj, amid reports that Nokia is exploring strategic options. In October, Nokia suspended its dividend and cut its earnings guidance, triggering a 23% decline for its share price in a single day, while over the past 12 months, the company has lost about a third of its market value. https://ca.style.yahoo.com/rajeev-suri-step-down-nokia-063629935.html [link] [comments] |
Any reason not to invest in airline stocks? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:39 PM PST Am i wrong to think they will definitely jump back up after the travel restrictions are lifted? I find no reason why not to go all in on these stocks and sell once they jump back up. Is my thinking wrong? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone have aa good DRIP calculator? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:14 PM PST I just want to know how much money i'd have if I bought 100$ worth of T$ every week with an initial 1000$ start after 10 years. I can't seem to find one that spells it out easily for me. Please and thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:12 PM PST Hey everyone, I am looking to invest part of my portfolio into dividend paying stocks so that I can better develop a passive income. Does anyone know of good stocks to invest in that provide dividend payments and are also halal (do not profit off of debt or other things like alcohol, tobacco, gambling, pork, and weapons) Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:08 PM PST Looks like more and more people are going to use remote calling in the next coming weeks. And given the usage, Q1 earnings might be looking solid for the company. Is it too late to jump in? [link] [comments] |
How is TMUS different from T & VZ Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:59 PM PST To clarify I am asking this question in the sense as to why there is a higher sense of interest in T-Mobile over AT&T or Verizon. Outside of the Sprint merger I don't understand how it is valued higher when the competition is also rolling out 5G network and at least with AT&T has a very competitive cellular plan now. I feel like it is overpriced and due for a correction or am just ignorant to what T-Mobile is doing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:55 PM PST I think what may potentially trigger a even worse blow up would be the rebalancing by huge retirement/mutual funds when the bad earning reports come in. The reports will automatically trigger trades to rebalance funds holding. The bad reports, which are expected, to breaks the parameters used in the funds defining formulas, will force a huge rebalance of their holdings. I can't imagine how huge of a impact this avalanche and the snowball effect will have on the stock market. I imagine it would be a great buying opportunity, if I manage to survive and preserver through it. [link] [comments] |
Cramer: I am never going to go against Warren Buffett. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:52 PM PST He also says that Berkshire has been bit of underperformer. [link] [comments] |
