Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:21 AM PDT https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-urges-laid-off-restaurant-workers-to-join-amazon-2020-3 Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is urging laid-off workers from closed-down restaurants and bars to come join the company as it struggles to accommodate an enormous volume of orders amid the coronavirus pandemic. Bezos said the company is hiring for 100,000 new roles, and is raising the wages of its hourly workers who help fulfill orders and deliver to customers. [link] [comments] |
US is now 3rd on the list of countries with most confirmed Covid-19 cases. Posted: 21 Mar 2020 05:44 PM PDT They just passed Spain and are rising quickly. Next week, we're gonna see those numbers grow really fast and I think hard lockdowns are inevitable. To put those numbers into perspective, it suddenly became a lot higher because of the extra tests. Death and recovery numbers are still very low, so I think panic will hit the stock market not just yet. [link] [comments] |
FDA grants ‘emergency use’ coronavirus test that can deliver results in 45 minutes - P&D Posted: 21 Mar 2020 03:30 PM PDT FDA grants 'emergency use' coronavirus test that can deliver results in 45 minutes. Company is Cepheid which was acquired by Danaher Corp $DHR. [link] [comments] |
ELI5 - VIX + TVIX stocks. How does their value go up when the market crashes? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:33 AM PDT A friend of mine has been buying shares in TVIX and as the market has been crashing, his shares are rising tremendously. Can someone explain how this works? Are people buying shares of this, thus causing it to rise? Or is there another reason it is rising? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:48 AM PDT Currently, Boeing (BA) is trading at $95.01. This seems like an excellent price for a company that has traded for over $300 for the last 2 years. Airline stocks are going for very cheap right now, but with greater risk of bankruptcy. I would think Boeing, with its defense contracts, would be a safer bet. I can't imagine the US government would allow Boeing to fail. What do you think? Is it a buy? Ps: New to the game. Any/all advice is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Can I trust the bold claims about prospective stocks from fool.com? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 02:18 PM PDT They make claims that this stock will boom or another will hold through, but is it wise to trust? [link] [comments] |
What is the best resource for learning the basics about stocks? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:43 AM PDT I mean basic language like what is the S&P500 and what is an IPO. Is there something available on YouTube that is a one stop shop? [link] [comments] |
When are you guys jumping back in leveraged funds? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 07:44 AM PDT When are you guys jumping back in SQQQ or SRTY? I went in SQQQ @ 23 and got out at 31. I want jump back in at 25 but I think I'm just being optimistic. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Mar 2020 01:23 AM PDT The alternative being to just put it all in at a certain point, which has the risk of the price still falling and you losing money before it recovers. [link] [comments] |
JPMorgan Chase & Co. Vs. Bank of America Corp. Posted: 22 Mar 2020 12:30 PM PDT Let's say hypothetically that we've reached the bottom resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and there's a choice between JPM and BAC, which would you choose for your portfolio? Something that stood out to me is free cash flow for both companies in 2019. JPM reports free cash flow of -(1.5 B) and BAC reports (60.46B). Reviews in the media will claim companies like JPM could be safe long term after COVID-19 blows over, but isn't a lack of cash flow generally a red flag? Would this suggest that it's possible that BAC will have a quicker recovery than JPM? (Btw I know that it's impossible to predict when the market bottom will be) [link] [comments] |
I’d like to point out Square Inc. to you my people. Posted: 21 Mar 2020 03:49 PM PDT Before shit hit the fan, their price consensus was between $85-$105. Now at $38. Historically, they had good to great earnings and beat expectations. Their Cash App started to gain traction and number of users grew up substantially. In the next earnings report, they were going to display Cash App revenue contributing greatly on top of the revenue from credit card transactions which also grew each quarter. Easy to use Point of Sale, not horrible fees, payroll management, detailed sales reports, fast transaction times... Everything was working fine for Square until Covid-19 kicked all of us in the balls and small businesses start to shut down, crippling all of SQ's revenue. On top of this, SQ had billions invested in small businesses via their Square Capital program. Square Capital gave stores the ability to pull out a loan based on their credit card transaction volume. Loan gets paid back by a percentage of future store sales. No endless paperwork, no credit requirements or reporting to credit bureaus. If approved, in the bank within days, rates improve over history. This program which helped tens of thousands of small businesses grow, became a big problem for Square. At this point, not only their per transaction revenue came to a stand still, but they also have billions out there without bringing anything back. This explains stock price loosing half of its value in 30 days doesn't it? So, what is Square Inc. doing? They recently announced, borrowers can request a 30 day push back on their minimum required loan payments. They also started automatic refunds on their subscription based products. They are helping small businesses go through this pandemic and yes, ultimately helping themselves but who cares if they are doing the right things, supporting mom and pops. Here's the best part. They got approved a handful of days ago from FDIC to be, in short...a bank. I see posts asking what companies to invest in once this stupid ass virus calms it's tits. Square is one of them. I expect them to recover fast and become a large financial institution in 5 years. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk. I hope I was able to help you make money in near future. [link] [comments] |

Monday, March.23.2020 Predictions? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:55 AM PDT I know it's impossible to predict the market but I just wanna see what people think. So, post your predictions for tomorrow here and try to explain why you think this. [link] [comments] |
NYT: Coronavirus Death Rate in Wuhan Is Lower than Previously Thought, Study Finds Posted: 22 Mar 2020 01:55 PM PDT So, less than HALF the figure believed. Look for this to lower even further as we come to realize that many many more people have been infected and either showed no symptoms or thought it was a flu and recovered. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Mar 2020 07:57 AM PDT Airlines are taking a big hit and I think they should recover eventually (although when is up for debate). Is anyone else contemplating this type of move or is it wsb-esque? Airlines will most likely get a bailout but unsure of the ramifications the bailout will have on tickers (if any) [link] [comments] |
Heeding Warren Buffet's best advice Posted: 21 Mar 2020 05:58 PM PDT "Be greedy when others are fearful, be fearful when others are greedy" I just double my 401k contribution while my wife's boss sold ALL of her investments last week. Don't be a sheep. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Mar 2020 12:25 PM PDT Got in at a wrong time when big crashed happened last week. Seems like it will crash harder. But with big stimulus package I think rally might be there followed by a crash. Good time to sell and then get at lower positions ? For example I got in MSFT : 140, AAPL: 240, BABA : 181, FB: 141 TLDR; Sell opportunity when stimulus package comes ? [link] [comments] |
acdvf vs ac.to Both are Air Canada Posted: 22 Mar 2020 12:20 PM PDT I am buying from america, should i buy one over the other? EDIT: SCHWAB HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION, THEY ONLY ALLOW ME TO BUY ACDVF. [link] [comments] |
Feedback on my stock investment plan for the coming months Posted: 22 Mar 2020 12:07 PM PDT Hello, I am looking for feedback or criticism on my investment plan. Thank you in advance for reading. I have $50k in cash (USD). I will dollar cost average $5000 per month into SPY over the next 6 months. This leaves me with $20k left over. I will invest $8000 into Apple stock on May 1st, only if the price is under $230. I will invest $8000 into Microsoft stock on May 1st, only if the price is under $135. I will invest $4000 into Amazon stock on May 1st, only if the price is under $1840. If any of the above rules do not apply, I'll instead put the money in SPY. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Which online broker has capacity to process new accounts in this period? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:18 AM PDT I have been trying to get trading for the past 2 weeks but unable to get access granted because of high volume of account creations and limited customer service. Any websites you can recommend? For UK residents specifically [link] [comments] |
