Possible temporary transformation of garment factory for mask production. Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:35 PM PDT Am in need of expert opinion on mask manufacturing. My family owns several garment production factories in China, which specialises in higher end quality clothes such as ski jackets and luxury swim suits. I have spoken with my father, and as orders are drastically slowing down with the current situation, lots of workers are going to be starting to sit there twiddling their thumbs, with nothing to do. We spoke about the idea of temporary getting into mask production as to help reduce the shortage in Europe and Americas, but he is worried that we would need special certifications and machines. I realize that masks such as the N95s would be impossible for us to produce, but the standard ones don't seem to be overly complicated. However I personally am extremely malinformed on this topic, so I'd like to hear from you. With LVMH getting into santiser production so quickly, I don't see why the wouldn't be impossible. He is going to speak with his team this coming week, but I would love to hear from people with more professional options and advice. [link] [comments] |

So if your a first time business owner are you assed out? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:11 AM PDT My question is regarding the SBA loans and Grant's the government is giving out to small business owners. I opened my new business in January and was slowing picking up before it completely died since having to close my doors from this virus. Since I dont have any tax returns or enough time to show income am I just left on the curb and should just close everything I worked so hard to begin? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 05:28 AM PDT I am working on a consulting company for micro businesses. Based on my research, this is how I would like to present myself: " I help micro business owners to earn sustainable profits without being overwhelmed and stressful" How much does this resonate with you 1 (worst) - 10 (best)? Is there any free invoicing software that will allow me to use my own invoice design template? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 09:50 PM PDT I'm a sole trader part time and want to make my invoicing process a bit more streamlined. I currently use Word and have a really good looking invoice design, so I'm trying to find a free program that will allow me to use my current invoice as a template. I know Xero allows you to use custom branding templates, which would be great, but I'm currently not earning enough to justify a Xero subscription. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 05:15 AM PDT Like many of you our business dried up almost overnight. We are a small B2B manufacturer/supplier. Having survived a few recessions etc. Here is my plan.
The point is act fast. Act now. Save your business. Shit is getting real. This is absolutely unprecedented. Not the virus, but the global shutdown. [link] [comments] |
Defining and REALLY understanding crucial things the company does? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:49 PM PDT The idea is identifying the crucial building blocks. How the company is special (unique benefits created by company's product and brand) and what is the brand position(how the brand is perceived by the public AND who is the target customer base).that allows us to create a strategy/structured approach to make a satisfying product. Is this how you think or do in your business? Isolate the core building blocks, then use that as a reference in to understand how to make a satisfying offer? Really define what the company's brand is, what it's specialization is, and what it's customers wants are. Then once I have that I have a blueprint of what my company does? [link] [comments] |
Should I be returning booking deposits? (corona virus) Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:28 AM PDT I operate as a sole trader offering entertainment at private functions (often parties). Have been in operation for 7 years and have taken booking deposits for the last 3 years. My booking process is pretty loose and often done through Facebook pages, there's no contract involved. With the recent virus outbreak in Australia, events / gatherings are being advised against resulting in bookings either being canceled or postponed. The way I've gone about deposits is that if the client cancels it's non refundable, if I have to cancel it's of course refunded. Unfortunately this corona outbreak has bought legally binding event restrictions, forcing cancelations. I, however, am also being canceled on and losing work / income. Is this a situation in which I should be refunding or am I entitled to the holding of deposits? FYI deposits don't exceed $100 AUD Please provide unbiased advice Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Do I apply for SBA loan now, or wait? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:05 AM PDT I see that the COVID-19 SBA loans are available to apply for online right now. However, it sounds like Congress is trying to pass new loans with better terms - no interest and/or loan forgiveness. If I apply now, will that exclude me from these new types of loans? We are all in a panic and want to make sure applying for a loan now is not a mistake. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Mar 2020 07:39 AM PDT I'm wondering if I should be expecting much better terms on things such as a lease, vendor contracts, etc. when we finally recover from this period. I'm trying to find any silver lining for having to delay starting my company. What should I expect? [link] [comments] |
Anyone has experience with public contracts? (tenders) Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:46 AM PDT Hi, I think my company has enough capital to start considering public contracts. Does anyone here has experience with this? What are the most common portals used? What are the requirements (capital, staff, etc.). What is the process like? If you could share your experiences it would be appreciated. My company is located in Germany (so german portals would have preference) but I'm looking at anything in Europe or broader. Recommendations sought: Commercial Carpeting Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:19 AM PDT Looking at opening up a residence to rentals/AirBnB and the 1970's-vintage carpets have got to go. Seeking recommendations for commercial carpet brands - any brands that stand up well to wear, clean up well, or do neither and should be avoided? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:14 AM PDT We opened in 2017 with two escape rooms and soon added another three including two sets of duplicate rooms to allow head-to-head races for teams wanting to compete. More recently we added an outdoor game allowing players to get out on foot in central Takapuna and enjoy our lovely beachside location while racing the clock to solve a mystery. In December 2019 we renamed to ESCAPE HQ and we are very excited to be launching three new and original games by July 2019. We love hosting our customers and can't wait to be able to offer these news games. We look forward to seeing past customers back to take on our new games and new customers taking on our escape rooms for the first time. See you soon! [link] [comments] |

How to defend a local store against a giant corporation? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:45 AM PDT My dad has a local business, that provides all the daily cooking essentials from spices to rice and oils, washing essential. But the number of customers have been decreasing from the past two years because of a chain of supermarket that can provide discounted prices.... How can we tackle this? [link] [comments] |

Opened our store on March 1st, fuck me right? What can I do now? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:33 AM PDT So we have a small books and gift store in colorado which the state is getting closer and closer to total lockdown. We were able to operate the first couple weeks of the month and get some income, just not a lot, and now everything is stopped and we're practically closed for the time being. I'm sure everyone is wondering the same thing, but have to laugh at my timing as this is something I've wanted to do for years and now a global pandemic occurs halting all non essential business. So where do we go from here? Where is some money? I want some. (but seriously open to suggestions) [link] [comments] |
SBA Disaster Relief loan amount Posted: 22 Mar 2020 07:32 PM PDT Does anyone know how much we'll all be eligible for with a SBA disaster loan? Going through the application process they didn't ask for a specific loan amount (or even average monthly expenses), just tax returns, assets, and liabilities. I saw on another post someone mentioned it might be up to 4 months of rent, payroll, and other liability payments but quite frankly, if I'm going to be taking on more debt, I'm going to need it to worth more than just 4 months of rent and payroll. Sales have been absolutely non-existent all month, we're on a complete lockdown, and I just don't see this thing getting any better until June at least, which means 4 $0 revenue months back to back. Simply covering rent and payroll is not justifiable for additional debt when there's no money coming in period. I know a lot is up in the air right now but I'm just curious to know if anyone knows how much we'll be eligible for/if it's based off a percentage of annual revenue rather than just rent & payroll for a few months. If anyone has any hard facts or any ideas of ways to get solid information please let me know! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Mar 2020 09:08 AM PDT We are based out of Ohio. We have a very successful store in a small town along the river. Sales have been beyond what we expect them to be for years, until last Thursday. About halfway through the day it's like our town became a ghost town. Now, I actually expected this to be honest. It's scary but we are managing right now. The issue im having is everywhere I look online it seems like we shouldn't be doing better than ever. I see dominos and donatos hiring rapidly to make up for delivery demand, and I see articles like, "eating more fast food because of corona, check this out!" What gives? Am I alone in sales being slashed by about half all the sudden or is it just areas of the country haven't been hit yet? For more details out first positive case in our county, "not town" was announced yesterday. Sales sharply declined about 3 or so days ago. [link] [comments] |

How long is my small business and yours shut down? Posted: 22 Mar 2020 04:47 PM PDT This is getting my antsy. Im losing money each and every day we are closed. The government knows how this will play out. We know roughly the future by looking at South Korea, Japan, and China. Is our government like NYC governor Cuomo going to keep everything closed until a vaccine is released? Until there are 0 new cases a day? Are we going to be closed for 3 weeks or 80 weeks? Come on give us some answers. Any idea? [link] [comments] |
