Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:28 PM PDT And Cigna sent an EOB to my parents for surgery. It shows clearly that it's from a women's center however. I told them I got an IUD. I paid for the whole thing so there is nothing they have to pay. The issue is how do I get these EOBs to not be sent to my parent's house in the future? Honestly seemed like a huge violation of my privacy to have my parents know I got a surgery at a women's health center... like come on, Cigna what are you doing. How embarrassing. By the way I did call them and ask to have my EOBs sent to my address instead as I am 21, guy on the phone didn't seem that knowledgeable and said he couldn't do it, so I don't know what else to do. Surely there has to be a way as this seems like a huge confidentiality issue and I am an adult... [link] [comments] |
How greatly will the COVID19 impact jobs in the Insurance Industry? Posted: 24 Mar 2020 02:11 AM PDT Recently, I got an offer to work at a major insurance company for an IT position. I want to ask whether COVID 19 has had an impact on laying off people in this industry? I've also seen news with lots of people losing their jobs and will be unable to pay their insurance and with the death toll rising, insurance companies will have a hard time paying out life insurance. Are major insurance companies currently open or closed due to the virus? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 06:51 PM PDT Geico, State Farm, All-State, The Hartford etc. Does anyone know? I'm waiting on a settlement check and I'm hoping this isn't going to cause a major delay! [link] [comments] |
Looking for coverage but having a hard time finding what I need! Need Advice! Posted: 24 Mar 2020 12:42 AM PDT I'm looking for insurance coverage for my multi vendor website. The coverage I'm seeking is to protect the customer in case of any case of fraud, theft, or damaged products. Does an insurance product like this exist? Any feedback will be appreciated. Pursue medical lawsuit for car accident post-disc replacement? [CA] Posted: 24 Mar 2020 12:16 AM PDT I had a cervical disc replaced in my neck August 2017 as a 33/F. I was cleared by my surgeon after multiple imaging and follow-up appointments to return to my regular weight lifting and other daily activities. Less than a year later in June 2018 on my way into work my car was hit by a woman who failed to stop her car at a 4-way stop. She was found fully at-fault and I filed a police report after the police didn't show up to the scene and my car was towed away to a repair shop. It was in the shop for three months (long story and a real shit show). The day after the accident (no airbags deployed) I had an X-ray to see if there was any movement of my replaced disc after the accident. They didn't see any changes, but after the accident I have stiffness in my neck and there is a grinding noise that wasn't there before the accident. I have gone in for multiple imaging and they still can't see what is causing the grinding noise and since I can't do an MRI because of the metal disc, the only option is to inject contrast dye into my spinal cord and do a series of X-ray images. I found out during my disc replacement surgery that I am allergic to some pain meds and have had negative reactions to other IV medications, so I really don't want to have the dye injected. I am coming up on my 2 years limitation and am wondering if it's even worth hiring a lawyer to pursue a medical lawsuit. The last offer I got from the other insurance company was $1,500 when my out of pocket at that point had been $150. My out of pocket is somewhere around $800 at this point with all the imaging and some visits to a chiropractor when my neck really flared up about 6 months ago. My biggest issue is that I still have the grinding noise, discomfort, and need to crack/pop my neck constantly when I never had to before the accident. I can still workout and lift weights, but am limited by what I can do and can't do some activities without neck discomfort and am not yet 35 years old. Should I just take what the other insurance offers me (guessing $2k?) or see if I can get some compensation for what will probably be a life-long neck issue? [link] [comments] |
SoCal Medical Insurance: Very Low Income but High Joint Tax Returns Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:14 PM PDT California - my friend (college student, permanent resident) has been filing joint marriage tax returns since 2017. Her spouse is making 120k+, but refuses to add her in to his employment medical insurance. If filed separately, she makes around 5k a year. She called in Coveredca but is ineligible due to the high tax returns. Are there options for her in this situation? She cannot afford 200+ per month premium offered by marketplace. Can someone in auto insurance help me??? Insurance claims there was an excluded driver Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:25 AM PDT Can someone that works in auto insurance ease my mind???? Please ? Another car hit mine at a stop light. The driver was not the owner of the insurance or the car. When a claim was made to the insurance they said they'd get back to me. They called back that same day saying that someone was listed as an excluded driver but that they didn't know who and had to investigate it and call the policy holder. The agent asked me if I had information on the driver of the car. I did have a picture of his license and she asked for the full name, date of birth and license number. I then found out that these are the things you need to list someone as an excluded driver on the policy. I had to call back to see what the verdict was and surprise, she said that driver was excluded. But it all seemed kinda sketchy. So to anyone that works in auto insurance... when you look up a customer's policy can you see who is listed as an excluded driver or do you have to investigate and call the policy holder???? I asked if she could tell me when this driver was excluded and she said she couldn't give me any information, which I understand but I think it's weird she had to "investigate" who the excluded driver was. Car Insurance for someone new. Posted: 23 Mar 2020 10:28 PM PDT Hi, I'm currently in the market to purchase a new vehicle. I live in Cali, recently turned 19, and have one accident under my name after 3 years of driving. I am a male. The lease of a car my parents got me has ended, and now I want to get my own car to call mine, insurance included. I am wondering what are the best insurance companies to start an auto policy under. According to my parents, who has a policy under StateFarm, a rep quoted them around $250 a month for the lowest coverage for the car I have my eyes on. The car is a 2017 coupe, clean title, 34,000 miles vehicle. One owner, stock, off a dealership. Is StateFarm's coverage sound right to you or should I go looking for better rates from other insurers? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:37 PM PDT So I'm posting under a throwaway here because there are some personal details. My mother recently passed in November. 4.5 years ago she quit-claimed her house to me and so I am on the deed, and considered the owner, but am not on the mortgage / loan. There were no other assets, and so there is no estate. I will be keeping the house, and renting it out, which I've already done. I would like to keep paying the mortgage, and just continue as things are right now. The estate lawyer that was "helping me" (but really did not help me much and I've done everything on my own) strongly suggested that I do it this way, to prevent having to refinance. (This is not a sketchy lawyer btw, it's just in Rhode island, where everything is a little sketchy). The reason I would prefer not to refinance, aside from costs, is because I just bought my own house and I'm not sure how a refi would work with my current debt to income ratio. I have had other people tell me, brokers and real estate agents, to do it this way too to save the headache of going thorough this process. I do realize I could refinance this as a rental property at a slightly higher interest rate with proof of current tenants, and my debt to income ratio wouldn't be an issue. I'm saving that as a last resort. I'm now realizing that if anything ever happens and there is a claim on the homeowners insurance, likely they will be able to not pay out because I am not on the policy. So essentially I'm paying a policy right now that covers nothing. Currently the policy is rolled into the monthly mortgage payment. So, I believe the solution to this, outside of notifying the bank and the refinancing, would be to somehow get a homeowners policy in my own name on the house. I spoke to my own insurance agent on my (not my mom's) house, and pretty much gave him the rundown, and he said that likely the insurance company will notify the bank if I tell them the circumstances of why I'm opening a new policy under my own name. I guess what I'm asking is, what do people do in this situation? Everyone keeps telling me that this is a thing that people do, but I cannot find anything at all on the internet on this particular type of of situation. Is my only option to refinance so I can get a homeowners policy under my own name? Am I thinking about this all wrong? [link] [comments] |
Moving back to the USA from China on the 27th, not sure what insurance to get Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:11 PM PDT I have been living and working in China for years and am flying back to live in the USA indefinitely this week. I want to have at least some kind of basic health / emergency insurance, but I have no idea what to get...my friend suggested Seven Corners travel insurance, but I found a ton of horrible reviews on Yelp. I tried HealthCare.gov, but it seems I won't have time for that process since I'm flying out on the 27th. Any suggestions of what type of insurance to buy? [link] [comments] |
Advice please... Should I start a new auto policy with National General? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 06:40 PM PDT My insurance policy expired last weekend. Havent renewed yet because i was still shopping around. Most quotes I've received are high because I only have a year of drivers history (btw im age 26 though guess it doesnt really matter) and i had an accident at fault within that year lol. Nothing crazy I just swerved out of control and damaged my car on one side, no injuries or 2nd parties. I originally used a broker when I initially purchased my first auto policy last year. They signed me up with Inifinity. Was ok I guess had the most basic coverage you are required to get in California (15/30k $1000 deduct. etc.) Now they found a slighly cheaper policy with a company called National General which I've never heard of. A quick reddit search shows that they are less than favorable lol. But i've also read some okay reviews about them too. Just wanted to know if i should stick with infinity who also seems like a less than favorable company or go and switch with nat. general who Im assuming is almost similar tier wise with Infinity .. Posted: 23 Mar 2020 04:57 PM PDT Heads up... I'm young and not totally experienced/knowledgeable on insurance. So forgive my rather panicky post. But any advice is appreciated. About a month ago I had a surgery, and I used my insurance that I pay for through my workplace. The insurance was supposed to cover the entire procedure. Cool. After I had the surgery, I didn't receive anything in the mail... I let it go for awhile, but after a time, I had a bad feeling. Checked their website. They are billing me for 7,000$. I tried calling them to ask why NOTHING was covered. "We are seeing that you have a primary insurance, and that we are a secondary insurance? I can fix some stuff in the system, and we can get this all covered for you. Give it about a week, and check back". A week later, I'm still being charged for 7K. So... Get this... I decide to call Medicaid. The automated system stated that my insurance status was ACTIVE. OKAY. It was supposed to be cancelled a long time ago. I never reapplied. I never used the insurance... because I assumed I didn't have it. I wasn't supposed to... I attempted to get ahold of my past case worker to cancel the Medicaid; but... thanks to the Coronavirus and the mass flood of unemployment and other aid, absolutely nobody is answering their phones. Left messages, no call-backs. My biggest fear is that my workplace insurance will never cover my surgery because, at the time, I had another insurance. I just can't afford to pay 7K... I really thought I was in the clear with the insurance that I'm paying for... Can anybody give me any advice? What are my best and worst case scenarios for dealing with this? Is there any legal trouble on the horizon? [link] [comments] |
How can my mother put a list of stolen items without any documentation? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 10:55 AM PDT Some background info: about 2 weeks ago my mother's nail salon was broken into and she stated about $700 worth of nail supplies and $1000 was taken from the register. She sent pictures of the damaged property and other stuff to the insurance company but the insurance claim agent said he needs documentation like receipts of the supplies but my mother told him she bought those supplies like a year ago, threw the receipts away, and paid the supplies in cash so there's no way of tracking the transactions online. As for the $1000, she doesn't use the register but as a way to keep the money. Most customers pay in cash so that's out too. But she doesn't lie and knows she lost $1700 in supplies and cash. My mother told this to the agent but he keeps demanding documentation for proof and I even called him saying that she's stating the truth but he still needs paperwork or documentation that she lost that amount of money. She doesn't know what to do now [link] [comments] |
African Timber/Crop Insurance Premium Rates?? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:54 PM PDT Hello, I'm doing a project where I need a rough insurance premium rate for timber or crop insurance in Africa (preferably Central/West/Southwest/Angola area). Any leads on where I can find this sort of data from a credible source? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:40 PM PDT I was in a car accident 1 year ago where my car was declared a total loss. I went through my insurance and they paid my medical bills and car. I went to the doctor the day after the accident (paid copay, prescriptions and lost 1 day of work - none which I got compensation for. Insurance only paid my chiropractic visits). Just received a call from the subrogation company, asking if I ever filed a bodily injury claim through the at fault party's insurance. I said no that I went through my insurance only. They said I can contact the at fault party's adjuster and file a bodily injury claim and get paid out. But I have to pay back my insurance the $ they paid for my med Bills. Is the bodily injury claim considered optional? Let's say at fault party's insurance gives me $100 & my ins. Paid out $500. Will I get nothing? Is the money I receive taxable? Never been in an accident at the degree before and not sure what the right call is. Some extra cash would be nice with the lack of work right now. Any help/guidance is appreciated. Thanks! Accounts Receivable insurance (US, small business) Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:15 AM PDT I'm updating our business policy and would like to increase the amount of our accounts receivable insurance, as we've grown fairly substantially. I asked my broker what it covered and he basically said "you'd have to file a claim to find out", which isn't helpful at all. The carrier is Travelers. Are these policies worth anything at all or are they just a gimmick? Surely specific information isn't too much to ask, under the circumstances? Our customers are all larger, well funded entities and we have a robust contract, zero issues thus far. We're just not in a great position to take anyone to collections so I'd prefer to have a safety net. All advice is welcome. [link] [comments] |
Removing vehicle from policy makes premium go up? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:17 PM PDT A few weeks ago my car was in an accident. I had to go through the other person's insurance and I was not at fault, but the car was considered a total loss. Since I do not have the car anymore, I (19M) tried to take my car off of my mom's Geico policy, but the quote made my mom's insurance premium go up a couple hundred dollars. Is that normal? Posted: 23 Mar 2020 02:11 PM PDT I've been going back and forth with USAA on their totaled vehicle settlement offer for a while now, and they just sent an offer lower than the initial offer. Is it possible or unheard of to contact a GEICO adjuster or somebody at my insurance co. For help with the process and getting fair market value for the vehicle? [link] [comments] |
Young (17M) driver insurance after crash (UK) Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:50 PM PDT Hi, yesterday night I was driving down a country road a little too fast all be it within the limit and skidded on some mud and put my car into a field. The crash could have been fatal, I had a friend in the car and we got away with minor injuries. It's safe to say I've learned my lesson and when I do start driving again I will be a lot more cautious. The car (Peugeot 107) is a complete write off. It will be some time before I get a new car. My question is what is likely to happen in the next few weeks and will this set back increase my insurance price sky high for a long time? I'm still suffering from post traumatic stress about what happened and I'm worried about how I'm going to afford insurance and a new car for travel. The whole situation along with physical injuries are interfering with my day to day life. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |

Unsure how this will work...2 accidents, similar damage Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:04 PM PDT I'm in Ontario, couple weeks ago my neighbor and I backed into each other and the left side of the rear bumper got damaged. They wanted us to go through ins they had minimal damage like a scratch but because the damage was worth 500ish most we would get is 250 and both of us would be rated At Fault. Yesterday I'm in the drive they and someone backs into me...FML same bumper but the righ side is now damages so most likely cost is same because it's the same panel that needs repairing. I haven't fixed the other side yet because wanted to see how the first one would've played. So 100% yesterday is not my fault, I exchanged info with other driver said he would pay cash bla bla. Texted him couple hours ago and no reply yet which is fine because I have his name phone # ins company and pol # and license plate so I can still claim if needed. My only thing is if I go through insurnace now what happens with the first damage because even if it was fixed the second damage still requires the whole panel to be removed and what should I do? Especially now with the whole covid situation. It happened in my parents city I live two hours away and I plan on going back home wed morning. Update: I called him , his family member is a mechanic and will talk to him. Told him need to get it resolved by tomorrow. Will see what happens [link] [comments] |

Question for Canadian Brokers (COVID19) Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:18 PM PDT I work at an insurance brokerage in Ontario, Canada. Doug Ford just announced that all non-essential businesses must close within the next week due to the COVID 19 outbreak. Is insurance an essential service? When they say businesses close, do they mean work from home or cease the operations? As brokerages, business never really 'stops' as we service our clients. Any thoughts on this and how it should pan out for the insurance industry? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:27 AM PDT Hello everyone so as the title says some mess went down. Back in January I had called my OBGYN to set up a minor procedure, and they scheduled it for 2/13 at that time I was speaking to the surgery coordinator and told her how I'm on my moms insurance and turn 26 on 2/6 so I probably won't have coverage on that date because it's after the 6th. She tells me that she had called to verify benefits before she called me and she gave them the surgery date and they assured her I had coverage until the end of February. I thought that's great so I went ahead with the surgery meanwhile she kept verifying benefits until the surgery date. Even when I went into surgery I just paid my copay. Well now they are harassing me saying that my insurance denied the claim because coverage ended on the 6th but I had told the surgery coordinator all of this. What can I do? [link] [comments] |
