In a Time of Crisis, the Consumer is More Important Posted: 31 Mar 2020 12:52 AM PDT In stable times, many entrepreneurs and managers make business decisions basing only on the level of expected markup. Which markup does the marketing department forecast when we consider to launch a new product? Which markup will we get when we want to open a branch in the neighboring country? At the first glance, it sounds reasonable and in a logical way. But the crisis changes the idea of markup for two reasons. Firstly, many businesses should now focus more on customer retention rather than on a markup increase. If the customers stay with you, then you will catch up with them when the crisis is over. Secondly, markup is a static indicator. Seeing that a certain product, industry or country is able to make a lot of profit at the moment, we do not take into account how quickly the world is changing. What was quite profitable today may become uninteresting to the consumer and, thus, unprofitable tomorrow. That is why, during the crisis, the study of consumer interests, including dynamics, is more important than profitability analysis. After the crisis, not the most profitable, but those who have managed to guess consumer expectations will survive. [link] [comments] |
[Advice] Corporate Sponsorship for My Business Posted: 30 Mar 2020 04:48 PM PDT Good evening everyone! I've had a dream to open up my own studio since I started training. I've been researching liability insurance, gear cost, studio rent, utilities, and building a client base (and will continue to grow), and so forth. My plans were sidelined for the time being due to COVID-19. However, I'm taking this time to learn all I can. I'm planning to save up ~$10,000 to give myself a cushion before I pursue this dream. Can anyone give me any insight on corporate sponsorship? I've done some research, and I'm curious how to go about getting in contact with the right person. Would I find the company(ies) I would like to submit my sponsorship proposal via the "info@_____" account, or is there another way? Does anyone have any tips on how to best propose receiving sponsorship? TIA! TL;DR: [link] [comments] |

I’m 17 and Need Business Advice Posted: 30 Mar 2020 10:52 PM PDT Hi, I'm a 17 year old entrepreneur. I'm looking to start my first online business. Up to this point I've ran a couple offline businesses selling at multiple flea markets and also have done fairly well selling on eBay. I'd like to start an online niche marketplace. I have a solid business plan and an estimate of what it'll cost to get up and running. It's not incredibly expensive, but it's a lot for a 17 year old. I've never started an online business, and am scared to put most of my savings on the line launching this idea. Should I go for it, or find a less expensive model to try to get a feel for online businesses before I put that much money at risk? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2020 03:02 PM PDT So, I lost my job and have applied to places I normally might not consider, but understand I gotta do what I gotta do, considering the uncertainty due to the Covid-19 outbreak. I applied to a national warehouse and delivery chain. I got about 8 emails telling me to attend their virtual online session, which I did after I received the first email. Was then sent an email to wait for the Office Hour email where I need to bring acceptable types of ID, and would arrive in my email within 48 hours. It's been almost two weeks, but no big, as I understand that many folks are clamoring for these essential jobs right now. Here's part of the email: Address: 2*** W B?????? RD Somewhere, TEXAS 7**** USA Directions / Instructions: Hello, Thank you for attending your Virtual New Hire Event. Your next step is to attend one of the Office Hour sessions. Please, attend one of the below sessions within the next 2 days in order to complete Section 2 of your i9, and take your Badge Photo. Be sure to complete this important step, or you will lose your shift. Deadline: 3/31/2020 Big Biz Office Hours Friday 03/30 and Saturday 03/31 at one of the following times: 9:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, 10:30am, 11:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm, 3:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm at 2*** W B????? Rd., Somewhere, TX 7****. I responded with my confusion, because Somewhere, TX and the zip they provided, do not match. The area I am in has several locations. Google showed B????? Rd as being the road in all those locations. Now. Check out the days provided versus the dates provided. Are we going to have (2) March 30ths & March 31sts this year? I am not sure if they want me there on Friday or Saturday, or the dates provided, nor whether the deadline date is the date they meant to send. I emailed their hiring staff my concerns, but I tried this before already and got no response to my concerns about the 8 emails and whether my Virtual Event had been recorded or not. So, I went back and watched that riveting Virtual Event once again, just to be sure. If a company of this magnitude can not get it together then they should not expect perspective employees to. I am not yet officially hired but I'm certainly asking for a raise before I even put in an hour. I might be a bit more professional than they could handle. [link] [comments] |
