Second Year Accounting Student Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:43 PM PST As a second year accounting student, what can I add to my resume that would help me stand out from other students applying for summer positions? I have completed a financial accounting course and I am in the process of completing a Managerial accounting course. I have included what i think are the basics in resume already, i.e strong skills in excel, etc. Any type or amount of help would be amazing! [link] [comments] |
Handling large number of phone calls Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:34 PM PST Hello, I run a SME where we get many phone calls during the day...enough that it keeps our receptionist fully tied and she has to fairly often put people on hold for tens of minutes. Our cliental obviously don't appreciate the wait times, but it would be expensive for us to hire a second receptionist. I had this idea of them getting an automated text message when they call in which asks them the department they'd like to reach (similar to the phone menu systems, but over sms) and then instead of them waiting on hold they get called by us when we're available. Does anyone know about a service like this that we could purchase? The idea of being "on hold" in this day and age seems so silly to me...and if my customers are anything like me: speaking to an answering machine doesn't make me feel confident I'll be getting a response back. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:20 PM PST Hoping a "businessman" (or woman) can answer this - I have a quickly approaching business-type competition where I have to assume the role of some sort of business partner, and have an approx. 10 m meeting where I need to present, which includes acting professional and getting meaningful ideas/data across. What recommendations do you have to act like a business natural? I want the judge to forget it's fake as well as not feel awkward, which can be common in these scenarios between a judge and student both pretending. Also, any business terms or practices that I could bring up to demonstrate I'm "in the know?" [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:14 PM PST Launching a new product in a couple of months and I'm having trouble thinking of an attractive launch promotion. Something that makes people think "Im stupid for not buying this now." I sell hair styling products and I currently only have one product which is a pomade. I am introducing a "hair treatment" oil that helps maintain smooth, silky, healthy hair. As a small brand, I cannot offer too much of a discount at first, so I was thinking more of a bundle type promotion. Some ideas so far: 10% off in first 24 hours Free shipping in first 24 hours Buy 2 jars of wax get the serum for free Buy a wax and serum get a coupon for next purchase? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Help us resolve a small-business stalemate Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:40 AM PST Hello My friend and I want to start a video production company together. I have the producer skills, they have the creative/brand skills. We've been actively developing the business over the last six months and we have a website. We're currently at an impasse: a) they want to wait and save up money to be able to pay a designer to develop our brand and have a brand film made. They think that we don't look polished enough and that potential clients will think we look like amateurs b) I think our website is fine - it looks nice. I think we can start contacting potential clients to consider us as suppliers. I don't think we need a fully developed brand in order to start out. I think our ideas and way of conducting business will speak for us, until we can afford to have our brand professionally developed. We cannot agree on which is the best way so have decided to ask for help from someone not involved. Can any communications professionals / business consultants give us some advice on how to move forward? [link] [comments] |

Strategies On How To Scale - Staffing Agency / Consulting (?) Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:19 PM PST Hi Everyone, I recently posted on another sub about how I have just launched a YouTube Channel with the goal of teaching others how to start and grow their own remote, direct hire staffing agency. I wanted to bounce some ideas off of anyone in here. My agency is doing fine but I am trying to think of interesting ways to scale. Right now it's just me with a solid book of business. After launching the YouTube Channel, I've been getting some requests for not only consulting/coaching sessions, but also profit-sharing type agreements. Has anyone else worked with such an agreement? I have a few ideas on how I can branch out. The first would be to select a certain amount of people, train them, and have them work as Recruiters for me on 100% commission. That way I can only focus on business development, and make sure that there is coverage on every job I have. Once a placement is made, the Recruiter that fills the job will receive a significant portion of the fee. This is because I would be going more so for volume. The second idea is that I offer purely consulting and coaching services, provide training and receive a percentage of profit from whatever the partner does. Essentially being on their board of advisors, helping them start and then receive a % on profit from there onward. Unsure how it can be enforced effectively or how I can track revenue - costs. Of course, it's possible to do both, but any feedback would be appreciated! Also, if anyone was interested in my video, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6nPsGQTci8 [link] [comments] |
