    Hello r/StockMarket!

This is another re-post to the thread that I had up a few months back. Thought it was time for a new one.

If you are looking to hang out with a group of active traders & investors discussing the stock market, feel free to drop in on our official Discord server. It's completely free, and signing up to join is incredibly easy.

To get to our Discord server, click on the invite link which I have linked for you all down below here-

[CLICK HERE FOR OUR OFFICIAL DISCORD SERVER INVITE LINK!]

Registering your user handle should take no more than a couple of minutes. You'll just need a valid e-mail address to verify your Discord account and that is really pretty much it, you'll be connected and ready to chat with all the rest of us!

You can either run Discord through your web browser, or you can download the Discord application to have it running in the background of your PC. There are also mobile apps that you can use, for example here's the one for the iOS device.

Our Discord server comes complete with stock bots as well.

For those of you who are be completely new to Discord and are wondering... "bots!?"

Yes, we have bots that can automatically posts charts and other useful market information in the chat on executing commands.

Almost all of the bots that you'll see on our server have been scripted from scratch from yours truly, and have them hosted right from my local server at home.

Anyway, unlike our last thread I did up, I won't post the full list of bot commands to this thread as it is quite extensive. I've posted the full list of commands right into our Discord server under the channel named #bot_commands which you can find on the left sidebar of the chat at the top underneath the WELCOME channel group.

You can also have the bot DM (direct message) you the full list by typing !help into any of the channels as well.

Again, if you are looking for our official invite link to our server here it is:

Finally, don't forget to pay a visit to the #rules_guidelines channel.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that for now.

Hope to see you guys on the chat very soon!

China to inject $174B of liquidity on Monday as markets reopen

Why do some calls with a lower strike price (same expiration) have a lower price per contract than ones with a higher strike price? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 06:40 PM PST

    Example: https://imgur.com/gallery/DsOkkn1

Why would you get the $89 call when the $88.5 call is much cheaper and has a higher chance of being in the money?

5G Stocks Nokia, Ericsson & Huawei

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 12:20 PM PST

Hello everyone, UK and EU, Two of the biggest markets for 5G rollout, released their recommendations/decision on who can provide 5G equipment.

France seems to be going with Ericsson. UK is allowing Huawei up to 35% of the peripheral equipment(Radio Masts, etc).

EU on other hand has recommended limiting, but not banning Huawei. Member nations governments will have the final word.

As for USA, I could be wrong(and please feel free to share your thoughts on this), It seems to me, Trump administration will use Huawei as bargaining chip in phase 2 of the trade talks.

Are you holding or thinking about investing in 5G sector stocks? Which stocks are on your radar?

What's your opinion on Ericsson and Nokia after the UK and EU announcements? Sell or Continue to hold? Keep buying the dips?

The European Union told its members that they should limit so-called high-risk 5G vendors, e.g. Huawei, but stopped short of recommending a ban on the firm

The recommendations are as far as the European Union can go in dictating policy to its member nations, whose governments will have the final word on whether and how they want to let Huawei help build their next generation of wireless telecommunications networks.

Could 2020 be the year we get into miners?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:27 PM PST

Interesting article about gold this coming week, here.

    http://www.goldtelegraph.com/gold-approaching-1600-could-next-week-be-take-off/

"Gold is up more than 4% so far in 2020. As on top of public health risks, geopolitical tensions remain a significant concern on a global basis. Today, the U.S 30-year yield fell below 2% for the first time since October with the addition of global negative-yielding debt ticking back up as it now stands at $13.555 trillion."

Is it time for money to flow back to the commodity sector that has been beaten up bad these last few years, you would think with $1600 gold, earnings leverage will be immense? With the addition of negative interest rates, geopolitical risk, recession risk with a new virus - maybe the time is now for gold?

    Stock market historical return

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 11:46 PM PST

so the stock market has historically produced annual yields of over 8 percent annually over the past 40 yrs. If that were to continue for either 30 or 40 years (I forgot which one), the dow would reach 300,000. Any thoughts on this. Or is my math wrong?
