Is publishing research/data a consistent way to get press for startups? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 08:37 AM PST What if a startup focuses its content efforts entirely on research and uncovering useful insights. Like: "Our analysis of 5 million email subject lines and here's everything you need to know" Is this a good strategy for consistent coverage? I obviously will work with journalists to figure out what they want. [link] [comments] |
Anyone in here with a speech-to-text startup? Need help with the pricing Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:42 AM PST I have trouble with setting the price for cloud and on-prem solutions. Customers are tech companies, who want to integrate our solution into theirs. Additionally, I am interested if anyone knows, in what kind of business and revenue models are the most optimal for this kind of thing Any advice? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:12 AM PST Hi everyone, I'm running a startup in Manchester UK and need to test a product with early adopters where a series of events will be run to support the test. I'm looking for any advice on decent yet fairly priced event spaces in Manchester if anyone has used any? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:20 PM PST Let's say you're working with an emerging startup and team that's pre-seed. The business model is fucked, up to and including basic shit like the name, but the team is good and the tech works. Without a ton of institutional capital (as an outsider) how would you recommend one goes about recommending fundamental changes that should happen to have a successful product? Oh also, the founder is totally delusional about what is possible. They currently have little revenue and very few users. I asked him what the six month goal is and he said something like 1 million monthly revenue..... [link] [comments] |

Where to find pre-seed startups online? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:02 AM PST Title. Are there any groups, online hubs or online communities where I can find pre-seed startups, if I know I can help them in a certain way? I'm talking about pre-seed startups specifically, not startups in general. If you were an angel investor, and you wanted to actively seek out pre-seed startups instead of waiting for them to come to you, where would you go first? [link] [comments] |
What next after landing page signups? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 08:49 AM PST What does one usually do after getting a few signups on the landing page? I'm in a product validation stage, so is it OK to ask them "why they signed up" questions? Or should I make a survey kind of for them where they don't have to type a lot? What's the best way to get responses that are useful to me? [link] [comments] |
Advice for what route to take with marketing? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:36 PM PST Debating what the best route for marketing should be for my startup. I'm about to graduate with a marketing degree, but of course i'm not able to cover everything and as the 'CEO' and main founder I have a lot of other ground to cover. Below is what I plan to handle vs. what i need to outsource. I'm considering hiring a marketing firm VS. Upwork, but any suggestions would be great. The essential foundation of my company is similar to a consulting firm so low overhead, and a strong social media/digital marketing presence is important. I want to keep starting costs low overall but i'm not afraid to shell out for quality work. In house- partner referral, client testimonial, paid advertisements (including social media), in-person displays, email marketing Outsource- SEO, social media management, growth hacking [link] [comments] |
How to present technical and RnD traction when you've no revenue. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 05:04 AM PST Hi all, I'm a co-founder at a deep tech space startup and we've been going at it for about a year now. In a nutshell, we're building a satellite constellation that accomplishes a unique scientific survey of the earth to provide industry data to increase efficiency. We've in the final moments of closing a Family and Friends round of $100k which will be injected at certain technical milestones as we've pilots for our tech planned out within the next 3 months with model customers (we're not charging as our tech is still in a proof of concept stage). But after those three months, we want to go raise a Seed round of up to $1M. We do hope to have paying customers or at least paying pilot trials but in the case, we do not, how do we portray the research and technical development done by the team over the past year + the next months? Assuming this is a very hard technical problem with hundreds of benefits and huge profit margins if accomplished. (Apologies if I'm too vague, most of it has been on purpose to protect IP) [link] [comments] |
Company claims to be building same app with the same name, should I change mine? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 08:35 AM PST Currently building an app and the .com domain name I'd like is available. The problem is someone purchased the .co domain ~5 years ago and created social media profiles with the same name claiming that they're building an app that sounds like it would have similar features to mine. The social media channels haven't had any new content in years and their .co website still says coming soon. What are my options here? Should I purchase the .com and move forward with my app or try to change the name now to avoid any legal issues in the future? I had no knowledge of this app when I got to work on mine and only when I started trying to name it did I come across this other company. [link] [comments] |
Best Job to take for needed skills before establishing my Startup? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 04:31 AM PST Hi all, I'm a Hospital Pharmacist that is working on establishing my startup for on-demand Delivery service with already established pharmacy chains (outside the USA), will be contracting with such pharmacies to be their delivery medium to the customer, it's B2B2C structure, think Uber Eats but for pharmacies. Right now I verify orders from physicians in terms of dosing, being appropriate drug for the patient and the completeness of the order, and if there's drug interactions with other drugs the admitted patient takes, we also serve ER patients on weekends, I'm working here for 2 years. I'm wondering what job or jobs should I apply for to gain needed skills to work in my startup in the operation side? Thanks all appreciate your advices. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:56 AM PST Hey everyone! I have an issue I'm trying to deal with. I've spoken to a lawyer already to confirm what I already know. But did anyone have any restrictive covenants in place when they pursued their first start up? If so how did this effect you and how did you over come it? I have a restriction that I cannot become a competitor for 3 months. If I go work elsewhere I'll most likely have to sign another covenant. Did people still proceed with their start up anyway? Or did you guys wait? Any advice would be helpful [link] [comments] |
