Do you guys use a Virtual Assistant?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 10:49 PM PST

    Hey Reddit,

I was wondering how many of you have used the services of a Virtual Assistant. For those of you who don't know, a VA is a remote employee who can perform tasks such as bookkeeping, preparing reports, social media management, managing calendars, booking hotels, etc.

And if you have used a VA, have you benefitted from their services? In theory, a VA can help you save time and focus on the more important tasks.

I'm going to be joining the management of a VA company and would like to know your experiences so I can work on improving them :)

In exchange for your valuable feedback, I would love to give you a coupon code which you can use to get one week of VA services for free. Thanks!

Why do companies make it hard to pay bills?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:47 PM PST

Real question as I look at my personal budget sheet and manually pay bills monthly I see this issue. I personally don't like autopay as many normal people and business people may prefer it. Personally I like to see where my money goes even if I'm not financially responsible yet.

Why do companies make it difficult to: 1. Contact them 2. Pay Bills

Why don't people consider government contracting?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 03:36 PM PST

I'm just trying to understand the reason why most people skip out on (federal) government contracts and only do private market business. I eventually plan to try it out for my self. Some of the pros to me include:

    1. The U.S. Government spends hundreds of billions each year so there is room for a lot of businesses
    2. Not needing to do market research as the government tells you exactly what they want
    3. The government will always have the money to pay you while private businesses could go bankrupt before the end of the deal
    4. There are many programs designed to help those without a lot of money

There are more benefits as well. The only con I can come up with is that it is a confusing process to navigate which would be unappealing to existing businesses. Even so, I feel like starting a contracting business is a good venture. What do you think?

Shipping, import/export of Perfumes - Could anyone give me any insight?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 01:04 PM PST

Basically from what I could find online, it might be a bit difficult to ship perfumes due to them containing alcohol?

The main destinations will be from the Middle East to Europe and vice versa..

I know it mostly depends on the country, the law and customs but if someone has any info it will be much appreciated.

Specifically Amazon related. Wanted to find out some statistics about the % of returns, % of why products are being returned etc.

Do I contact the company? Why would they give me the info to a random person though?

I have a retail startup and I want to set up a stand for a day or two in an office lobby to sell my products but I don't know who would be the person managing these enquiries (building owner, receptionist, facilities manager). Any suggestions? And what would be the best way to reach out to them?

    The Trends in Marketplace Solutions

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:10 AM PST

In 2019, retail e-commerce sales worldwide amounted to 3.53 trillion USD. The top 3 online stores' revenue amounted to almost 100 billion USD in 2017. Over the years even trends in online marketplace operations changed drastically. Therefore, it is time to look into the probable trends that is expected in 2020. In that context, I have listed the key trends identified by various industry experts.

    Key Trends:

    1. Combining brick & mortar and online marketplaces models

Yes. Even though we have become highly tech savvy, many consumers still prefer to go to a shop to buy products. They would visit a shop in a mall or specialized retail stores. Making presence only in online platform is prohibiting companies to reach out to all target customers. Therefore, retail companies are following the marketplace model which is a combination of brick & mortar and online retail store.

    2. ROPO: A New Way to Measure Digital Success

ROPO means Research Online Purchase Offline. It has been a noticeable customer shopping habit. Thrifty shoppers drive ROPO greatly. Additionally, bargain hunters also look for the best possible deals. We can expect a great deal of ROPO in 2020 in the eCommerce industry.

    3. Voice Searching to Look for Products & Services

Just like Apple's Siri, this feature is anticipated to be big as consumers learn to interact one-on-one with voice with their mobile devices when they shop like never before. The search results will be super narrow. Products will need to have in-depth information and be optimized for voice search to be easily found and making store inventory available in real-time.

    4. Searching Identical or Similar Merchandise by Image

Like voice search, image-based searches are also expected to become popular in 2020. This feature is already in use by some devices. Online merchants can start to make use of this new feature in mobile devices. Here the language will no longer be an obstacle to discovery. Shoppers will be able to click photos of objects and search for it or similar items online.

    5. Augmented reality

Augmented reality (AR) is one of the major mobile software development trends of the last few years. However, now big retail companies have started adopting this trend recently which is expected to become predominant in coming years. For instance, IKEA presented a virtual catalog to customers, items from which can be projected onto any interior or exterior. Thus, customers can see the way a certain piece of furniture fits into their place with the help of their smartphone cameras.

    6. Artificial intelligence-powered search

The two most expected trends to use AI in the development of marketplaces are the intelligent voice search and deeply analyzed search. The voice search is mostly a 'cool' feature to boast about in the context of what advanced features you provide. The deep-analysis search, however, might as well directly influence your sales. For instance, Kim Kardashian has launched an app that helps to find clothes and accessories identical to those captured in a photo.

    7. In-car shopping

One of the latest innovations of in-car commerce is related to Amazon. The company now provides package deliveries to your vehicle's trunk. Specifically, couriers get access to a client's car in order to leave the product purchased inside through Google Maps, Waze, and so on. This delivery option is well-appreciated by the marketplace users as it allows them to avoid any engagement and connection with other intermediary bodies.

    8. Drone delivery

A few decades ago, the phrase "drone delivery" may have caused mixed feelings. However, it has turned into reality now and it may become the mainstream for many e-commerce companies in the near future. One of the key example is Amazon's Prime Air.

The core idea is that the companies dealing with items' delivery implement a new and efficient way to boost the user experience. This innovation accelerates the delivery process pretty much.

So, buckle up and be ready to enhance your competitiveness by responding positively to these probable trends of 2020.
