If you major in Business Management as an undergrad, do you still need an MBA?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 10:31 PM PST

I'm just wondering because at universities like MIT, a lot of the undergrad classes for Business are just the graduate classes that are open to the undergrads. Is it worth it to go for an MBA after a bachelors in Management?

Need Advice: What To Know Before Opening A Store That Will Be Part of an Umbrella Franchise?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 11:07 AM PST

I am a young entrepreneur (24M), and I want to open a physical store. I recently sold myself and convinced a VERY SUCCESSFUL Hemp(CBD) Store FRANCHISER to let me expand his business in my city. We will be meeting up next week, but they have a monopoly of connections (for a lack of better terms). They grow their own high quality hemp which allows them to almost always have the lowest prices wherever they are. They make ALL of their products.

He said it costs 15k-20k to stock up the store and they will do all of the beginning work for me. They will find the best location possible for me. From a brief 30 minute talk, he said my only expenses would be a 10% franchising fee, the 15k-20k to stock up the store, and paying them rent. It seems like a win win scenario and I will definitely have my lawyer read over any paperwork that has unnecessarily huge words.

(P.S. their CBD is very unique and special. I cant give away their formula but they have top shelf, Highly potent CBD & Hemp products)

    Any advice?

    Ticketing CRM platform suggestions?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 08:42 AM PST

    Hi all,

My friend showed me how his work deals with leads in a quite clean manner. They have a landing page with a RAQ/contact us button which shows a pop-up window with a simple form that the customer fills in. After it's filled in, the form gets registered as a ticket in their back-end system which works like a CRM. They can contact the customer and fill in more information about him/her, before eventually offering the correct products according to the customer needs. This solution however was probably built in-house, and he couldn't find any information if they had integrated a 3rd party solution for this.

I am effectively in need of something similar. I need to be able to register the RAQ/contact forms as tickets in a back-end ticketing system, which can then be handled further. Something that can be integrated as a back-end to my web page, or a WP theme that can exist under a separate domain or something. Not specifying more details as I am open to flexible solutions, and I want to browse a wide array of solutions possible.

    Thanks!

    Menswear business ?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 04:39 AM PST

Hello there, I'm a 20yo student and I have a passion for menswear and men's style in general (on the more formal side) . Along the few years that have passed I've formed a personal style and a personal opinion about how men should dress and look in a suit, and I'm wondering how can I translate this into a business. I was thinking about being an style consultant for the beginning (I've dressed few of my friends fore some events and the reaction was very pleasing). Any suggestions about how can I start a business in this domain and how can I develop it ?

The company has been boasting record profits, while cutting jobs and removing positions. The metrics put out by the company shows growth by "cutting the fat". I have been looking at the 10-k from 2018 and comparing it to 2019. It does look good, but at some point if the cuts keep happening they will be hurting rather than helping themselves. At what point does a stakeholder have to pull out? Is this a sustainable business? I am getting a feeling of "to big to fail", and I wonder if that is the current plan. Literally if the company begins to flounder, will the country be forced to bail them out?

    Why I became an entrepreneur!

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 11:56 PM PST

This is an excerp from a blog I did a couple years ago:

20 years ago I was 28 years old and hated who I was working for at a job I was getting paid $50,000 a year to do. I had a one-year-old son at home, was in the middle of a home remodel and was the sole provider for my pregnant wife and our son.

Certainly, the worst possible time to start a business.

    So I did it!

I had no education, no business training, and no money. That was 20 years ago, and if I had to do it all over again, I would tomorrow. It was the hardest thing I ever did, and the most rewarding.

The risks were massive, as I took out equity loans on my house three times in the first eight years to keep the business afloat. But it has changed my life in a way that will impact future generations. Coming from a dirt-poor background with a family legacy of poverty, my success has allowed me to change that reality not only for myself but also my children.

But it is a hard way to go.

I didn't get a paycheck for the first six months, and I supplemented my income for the first few years by working on the business from 6 AM to 6 PM and then refereeing basketball games from 7:00 PM until midnight. The challenges are massive, the learning curve steep, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Over the last 20 years, I have owned 12 businesses that have generated over $450 million in revenue, and I have had experiences and learned lessons the hard way…by earning them!
