Are you DIYing your own digital marketing for your business? Here are 4 easy steps to launching more effective ads

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:55 PM PST

    1) Avoid unfalsifiable statements like "better, faster, easier" and offer specific metrics. Turn "Customers save more on their bill" into "Customers save an average of $100 on their bill"

    2) Address the customer you're trying to serve. People pay attention to ads that seem to speak to them directly. "Our app helps everyone save time" can be changed to "Our app helps accountants save time"

    3) Talk about your product's value, not the product itself. People want a cleaner home, not a new vacuum. Instead of "Introducing the new and improved Roomba" try "Relax knowing you can come home to a clean house"

    4) Write for one reader, not thousands of readers. An informal tone that addresses your readers personally will capture attention and win more customers. "The newsletter delivers the latest tech news" is less persuasive than "You'll get the latest tech news straight to your inbox"

EDIT: I just read the rules of this subreddit - my bad if this isn't allowed here. Not sure if it's only questions allowed here. Sry folks

creating something so good no one 'can' compete?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:15 AM PST

hypothetically doing things in a very specific way, like ikea does with it's extreme furniture design, creates the most cost effective furniture store.

Ikea being effective for so long, secure a semi monopoly by being the most value for students, budget buyers, families, and diyers. No one can touch them on price. General goal is for competitors to be unable to compete?

    devil is in the details?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 01:03 AM PST

f the pizza is the product , every little detail matters to make the best pizza. All competitors are doing this to create their best tasting pizza for the price. All little details creates the most value.

if the idea for this pizza store is to make a gourmet pizza for slightly more wealthy buyers. The details are something like. One long no crust (8 inches by 18 inches) continuous rectangular pizza for one person($4, one topping per person) , made only with premium options like lobster, brisket meat, ribs meat, kebab meat, smoked meat, high end restaurant quality sauces, high end restaurant quality stir fried vegetables. Also using the quality meats to sell loaded 4 tacos per person for $4. Or a large serving of pasta with one meat option for $4. It still has that pizza delivery vibe to it.

This is clearly a crazy example, but is it in your opinion what doing devil in the details truly means?

What is your idea of devil is in the details (maximizing the details), what is your idea of how much winning over your target customer, and keeping them loyal?

    Contingency plans for Covid19

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:38 AM PST

Does anyone have a contingency plan for the virus? I have a small restaurant in the UK and am wondering how it's going to affect me and the best way to get through it.

A lot of our customers are older so probably will stop going out as much and I can only imagine certain ingredients will shoot up in price.

Anyone try Burnett & Associates Masterclass

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:25 PM PST

    Hello

I've heard good things about Burnett and Associates in terms of their services to keep your entities clean and hard to pierce the corporate veil. They offer a masterclass but I'm not sure it's worth the money or if there are other ways to learn how to keep your books clean and tax deduction laws.

    Anyone try them?

    Thanks

Best way to fire someone who has voice extreme prejudice and disbelief in the holocaust?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 10:18 PM PST

    Throwaway obviously.
So, I need to fire someone who has continued to deny the existence of the holocaust in front of employees and customers. My employees feel very uncomfortable with this. It was just brought to my attention today. I talked to them all separately and watched security videos to understand the complaints. I need to let him go tomorrow. He said that Hitler did a lot of good things like getting rid of degenerates like "gays and transvestites." He said the photos from the holocaust were fake because jews run everything. I'm not jewish. That's not the point. haha. 3 people brought this to my attention today. I watched the videos to see what he said, and it was even worse than what they described. A customer was in the store during some of this diatribe also. My other employees tell me this isn't the only time this stuff has come up and made them uncomfortable.

My question is, how specific should I be when I let him go? Should I just say that he isn't a good fit? Do I tell him that people are appalled by his racism and are uncomfortable working with him? He is a good person generally, but this is the state of things around here, I guess. His personality has been a problem before. I don't want to just beat around the bush and say he's not a good fit here, but I also am worried about adding to his paranoia and stuff. I mean, I don't really know how to word this. It's a first. Any tips?

    Absurd review

    Angies list ugh

So I bought a business and was unaware of a absurdly bad review on angies list. I'm thinking about calling and asking them to change the business name on there. Would that basically erase it from searches?

    Appreciate all help thanks!

Which marketing platform should I put money towards?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:25 AM PST

Ok so I have a local service business for 2 years now. I do junk removal and we have been doing very well with Google AdWords for the last 2 years. I also advertise on a placemat in a very busy restaurant. I get weekly seo work done as well.

I do not do social media at all. I was thinking of either investing into Facebook advertisement or take that money and up my budget on Google AdWords. Which one would be more beneficial for me to convert leads.

Should I do Facebook for this type of business or stick to Google AdWords and up the budget. Thank you for any advice.

Staff scheduling app, but way simpler than the popular ones

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:39 AM PST

    Hi /r/smallbusiness,

I hope you can help me find what I'm looking for. We've tried several of the more popular apps (When I Work, Homebase etc) and they have way too many options.

I'm looking for an app in which I can see when my employees have a day off, I can set them on a sick day or when they will be on holiday so anyone can see each departments availability on their mobile phone.

I don't need it to track wages, everyone works the same shift every day, every week so I'd like to auto schedule every week from MON - FRI for 40 hrs unless told otherwise.

    Example:

Employee works everyday from 9.00am-4.00pm, then I want to tell the app to fill that in for every MON - FRI.

I also need to be able to put in holidays because we'd be closed.

I filed articles of organization to form a single member LLC in Arkansas. Since I will be classified as a disregarded entity for federal tax purposes, should I pay estimated taxes and file end of year taxes using my LLC's name and EIN or my personal name and SSN?

    Thanks!

    Buying IT Recruiting Company

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:15 AM PST

There is a IT recruiting company on sale which has 6 consultants (1 W2, 1 1099, 4 Subcontractor) and had a gross profit of 250 K (Difference between client billed and paid to consultants) for 2019. Does not include tax, travel and other incidental expenses.

The owner works from home and travels to meet clients once every 3 months. I was wondering what would be a what question to ask the owner and a good price to pay to buy this company assuming the consultants would stay for minimum a year.

    1. As stated by Stanford Medical, It is indeed the ONLY reason women in this country get to live 10 years longer and weigh on average 42 pounds less than us.

(And by the way, it is not related to genetics or some secret exercise and EVERYTHING around "how" they eat.)

P.S, I said "HOW", not "WHAT"...
