Changing investment philosophy in a time of increasing fear

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 06:05 AM PST

Hello all, I'm 24 so my introduction to value investing and securities analysis has been brief compared to many of you who have been practicing for decades. I started investing about 3 years ago and since ive made a series of very fortunate and what can only be explained as lucky investments over the past two years.

My strategy has been a highly concentrated portfolio in small cap stocks between 50-500M. I've been 100% invested since my portfolios inception and when you own 3 or 4 companies and some of them 2-5x it can skew your CAGR to say the least especially with only a 3 year track record.

Im taking notice of this and realizing that (assuming 0 bias) statistically my past is mutually exclusive from my future and even though I was lucky historically it doesnt mean I'll be unlucky going forward but I cant help but feel tempted to withdraw from the stock market, rework my portfolio philosophy from scratch and reduce concentration etc (everything I didnt do before). Especially with the rise in prices and the potential increases in volitiltilty. I suppose I'm just looking for guidance. I know the principals I've read the literature but my emotions are driving me crazy since my portfolio growth has been so explosive. I did something stupid the other week and went almost all cash. I bought back in so the same companies (fortunately mostly as a lower price) but its impulsive decisions like these that make me want to reach out
