As the title says, please share some of the best cold emails you have gotten in your inbox. I'm talking of the mails which encouraged you to take action or at least shoot back a reply.

PS: It would be great if you can share the email body or a screenshot. Thanks!

Would you quit your startup for your dream corporate job?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 07:29 AM PST

I co-founded a startup that has some seed investment. Out of nowhere a former corporate colleague reached out to me and offered me a job that would pay me over double what I previously earned before my startup. It's an ideal role for me and something I would enjoy with significant leadership responsibility. I'm torn on if I should take it. My startup is either on the brink of finally taking off or the brink of failure and I'll know in the next few months. What would you do?

Any businessman with a team of more than 20 - 30, do you leverage on your team for a wide reach on social media?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 11:47 PM PST

In some situations, your team members (or some of them) may have some potential prospects or influencers in their social networks. Or on the minimum side, you get a better SEO with potential traffic driven to your website.

In this context, do you go for getting the social media posts shared by employees/teams on their timelines?

    Has anyone been doing this?

How to design an UI for your app?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 01:59 AM PST

    Hey there,

I´m currently working on a startup business plan for an university project. The business plan itself i done but I am still struggling with making the pitch more visually interesting. Is there a simple solution to design an app interface so I can visualize the whole thing during the presentation? (no coding skills, so something similar to a website builder would be great)

Found this so far https://moqups.com/ .

Simple way to change equity split?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:57 PM PST

At founding, in 2018, our split was 40/40/20, with the 20% co-founder in a part-time role. Since then the business has done well and that co-founder is joining full time, so we are moving to a 35/35/30.

Can we simply edit the operating agreement to reflect the above and all sign it or do we need to do more than that?

How to convince a UK investor that Transferwise is better than High Street Bank?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 02:29 AM PST

    Hey guys!
I never thought I would ask this kind of a question, but:
We have been tracked by the investor for 6 month and he finally said he would invest a little amount ($200k) into our UK company.
The only problem is that we use transferwise banking instead of a High Street Bank like Barclays and HSBC and he only wants to invest in a High Street Bank.
He is not much of a talker, so I don't want to ask him about his particular reasons, but I remember him mentioning that these banks have history and they are more trustworthy.

So my goal here is just to get money as soon as possible to pay my employees who have not been payed for 2 months. What do you think I should do?

P.S. When I have asked Transferwise about transferring our bank account to Barclays, they told that their partner in UK is Barclays and all money are stored there and they only provide a better UI to use that money. However, it didn't convince my investor.
P.S.(2) Does anybody knows if there any possibility to transfer our Transferwise account to any High Street Bank without coming to the UK? Or, at least, a possibility to transfer a bank account being non-UK resident?

What stops Instagram or Snap from copying my app?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 05:59 PM PST

My brother and I have been working on an app, and are pretty close from launching it. I know there's not much I can do to copyright the code and UI design for our app. But if it becomes successful enough, I'm picturing Instagram looking into it, sending a team of ten people to work on it for a couple weeks and make their version of our idea. The real power lies in the user base we generate, but it seems like the giant companies have such a big advantage here. Any tips or clarification about this would be really helpful.

Expanding business from AUS to the UK (Company structure/Visas)

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 11:56 PM PST

We're a video production business from Australia looking to expand to the UK.
We'd have our Australian founder travel to live in London as they start up the new branch and employ contractors and/or employees in the first few months.

Looking for some recommendations and any tips on how to best structure a new company in the UK (tax and all), what visa the Australian founder would need to apply for (<30yo) and any other helpful tips. I'm aware there is a Youth Mobility visa for under 30 yo, however, I'm unaware whether you can run a company with that visa.

    Thank you

Joining an already filed startup, as a shareholder

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 10:33 AM PST

    Hey Guys,

I'm considering joining a startup which already has 3 people in it. The offer I was given is that I can be added as the fourth member and hold 25% share in exchange for my expertise.

My questions are, if I accept that, am I going to have the exact same rights and benefits that the others have? Is there some considerations that I need to be aware of? And how do I make sure that when I join, the I own the same portion of the IP and whatever idea is implemented there?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:15 AM PST

Hi, What is the best way to find angel investment in the uk? I have an IoT startup with a prototype (offering of a piece of hardware and software to compliment each other). I'm looking to launch on Kickstarter soon, but would like to get some angel investment to get to the next phase.

    Investor Response Time?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 09:51 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I started my business two months ago, have a feature rich MVP and ready to launch in two weeks. Last night, I sent out my first batch of cold emails to early stage seed funds in my geography. Just curious how long, in your experience, it usually takes for these to turn around? I've got one discovery meeting booked out of about 20 sent.

Should the DBA of my startup website include ".com"?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 12:08 PM PST

Say my website is "www.NeocamelsStore.com", should my DBA be, "Neocamels Store" or, NeocamelsStore.com"?

Additionally, I will be looking to transition the website into a mobile app, or possibly having both a mobile app and a website, so I'm thinking that the best DBA would not include the ".com" because only the website would even have that the mobile app would just be called "Neocamels Store"

Thoughts? I've been doing web development for a decade but this is the first time I had an idea that I wanted to launch myself.

Selling or licensing to a large company?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 03:50 AM PST

    Hey guys

Have any of you ever ended up selling IP to a large player in your targeted industry rather than productizing and selling?

Perhaps you developed something which satisfies a niche but actually best serves its users by being licensed off and integrated into a large piece of software which has established presence in the market, rather than giving users a new independent thing to purchase and download.

If you've been in this position, I'm curious to hear how it went.

    Thanks!

Organizational Structure: Problem naming roles (need help)

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 04:55 AM PST

    I will be very brief:

we are a growing startup (that has a physical product) and need to start defining roles better.

I take care of production in a more macro-level (constantly in contact with CEO to think long-term) , supply-chain and procurement.

I have a subordinate that takes care of the production line in a more day-to-day basis (planning, supervision, quality, etc.).

I am helping the CEO to define the roles (names, responsabilities, etc) of my area. It was suggested that my role should be named "Head of Production" and my subordinate "Lead of Manufacturing", but we are afraid that naming this way might send the wrong message (also, "Head of Production" and "Lead of Production" might not work...).

I just want ideas for the names of this roles.

    Any idea hahah
