    Suicidal Thoughts big4

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 12:36 PM PST

I can't stop thinking about just killing myself to get out of my current situation. I feel so stressed out 247 just miserable and nothing to look forward to and it seems like my team just shovels more and more at me. I want to just quit and walk away right now but I don't have anything lined up and even if I start now it would take a decent bit to find anything. I can't look at excel or email or pings without thinking that the only way to get all of this weight off my back and escape is to just end it. How do you guys keep going when it feels like this. Im crying alone in my apartment and my manager is pinging me

    Exit opportunities for tax?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 04:17 PM PST

After being in tax for the big four for two years, what exit opportunities are there? I wanted the big four for the brand recognition. Now, I'd rather have a simple 9-5 in the private field. I just don't see that happening for tax professionals. Did I make a big mistake in choosing tax not audit?

    RSM Partner Interview

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 07:49 PM PST

Hey all, I'm interviewing with a partner on Monday for a potential Tax Associate position at RSM and was wondering what kind of questions to expect.

Also for people who work for any RSM, whats a day in your job look like? Since RSM targets middle market, do you get to see much more of a business or do you only get to see a certain portion. Why did you choose RSM over other firms?

    I'd love the feedback

    How should I learn accounting?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 04:50 PM PST

I just started out to learn accounting. I already leaned the basics like balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flow. It was fun but I want to learn more. Are there any great resources on the internet other than Investopedia? How do you recommend that I learn? What are the most important things I need to learn about accounting?

Let my future employer know I am dropping concentration?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 06:28 PM PST

Hey guys. I got a position at a B4 and put that I am an Accounting Major with a concentration in Quantitative Finance on my resume when I was recruiting. Now that I got hired, I want to drop the concentration because I am in my final semester and I just want to concentrate on getting that 150 CPA credit eligibility. Should I even let my future employer know that I am dropping it or does it not matter?

Do Accountants have a good work/life balance?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 10:42 AM PST

TL;DR: I want a repetitive, stable work life. Accounting yay or nay?

Hello! I'm thinking of getting a Bachelor's degree and entering the field of accounting or bookkeeping. There seems to be quite a few avenues in this career path and I was hoping to get some insight.

Simply, I'm hoping to find a stable 9 to 5 job, with a consistent work environment (i.e. the majority of my day to day tasks are repetitive). I am of course willing to work some occasional overtime and change the ways of doing things as time goes on, but overall I would prefer a mostly monotonous job.

Any thoughts on which path of accounting might be better suited towards this (Public, Private, Big Four, Bookkeeping...)? Or should I simply find a different major?

    Thanks for the help! :D

    HSA Accounts & Interest

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 07:01 PM PST

I hope it's appropriate to ask questions like this here. If not, please delete.

My current job funds my HSA and I make contributions. My current HSA account earns interest. My credit union offers an HSA account that also pays interest.

I know that HSA->HSA rollovers do not count against the yearly contribution limit nor would it be considered taxable.

Question: Would it be crazy/advisable/worth my time to roll over unused work HSA funds into a credit union HSA account for higher interest?

Work HSA: 0.45% APY Credit Union: 1.10% APY / Compounded & Paid Monthly

    Thanks in advance

    Accounting entry level jobs

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 12:54 PM PST

I want to start getting into the field of accounting but all the job postings I find require x amount of experience or a bachelors degree in accounting, which I don't have. I was wondering what related job positions can I get with just an AA. What was your first job in that field?

The rare inventory measurement at selling price, but what’s the JE?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2020 06:50 PM PST

    Hello accountants of reddit.

I am in my second semester of accounting masters and I am writing a memo to a mining company who wants to measure some bauxite at selling price. I have concluded that they can in fact do that given the facts, but what is the journal entry to disclose this to FS users? ASC 330-10-35 Par. 15 - 16 describes this rare subsequent measurement.
