Anyone paying attention to NIO? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:16 AM PST For as bad as the market has been today NIO opened at $2.92 and is now at $4.70. Edit: Immediately goes down 30 cents after posting lol [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:01 PM PST AMD is taking over its market share in the CPU market. The stock has gone from $16 to 45 in a year. It was the #1 stock on the SMP 500 in performance, up 162%. If you look into the actual products, their stuff is better than Intel. It's faster, cheaper, and they have the 7nm processors, which allow for faster performance. Furthermore, AMD moving towards 5 nm while Intel is still at 1 nm and failed the move to 10 nm in their CPU's. Second, AMD's CPU's (Especially $500 USD) are outperforming Intel's, making the market shift towards them. Third, CES (where they announce new products) and the 4th quarter are earnings are coming up, and this will be important for their stock. In the last few quarters, they have achieved about what people have predicted, so there isn't as much growth. Nonetheless, I expect the stock to grow 30% to 100% in the next year because of these reasons, barring any recessions or elections of certain presidential candidates. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:51 PM PST Looking for others' thoughts on Square. I have a small position since I like the space and I think they are priced reasonably considering their potential. They seem to be expanding their focus (accounting, trading, loans, etc...) which seems sensible to me. Not that it means much, but I see SQ card readers everywhere I go whether it be city or rural areas and it just seems to be that recognizable brand for payment processing outside of big chain stores. Looking for opinions on the upside or risk to this company? Is a buyout from one of the major payment firms (V, MA, PYPL) in its future? Or will they grow and further compete in the space? Maybe they are headed to zero? What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Why does the lehman brothers Stock still exist? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:24 PM PST Just asked my alexa what the sock price for lehman brothers was and its actually at 0,1 Euros. Why does it still exist after they went out over 10 years ago. Looked at the Chart and it matches the collaps so it's not just the Name. [link] [comments] |
Why do different stocks move up and down together as a whole? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:17 PM PST I've looked this question up online, but I'm pretty new to investing so I'm having trouble understanding it. Why is it that diverse stocks from different industries seem to move together for the most part? For example, today (12-20-19) most of the stocks and indexes moved down anywhere from .6% to 1% right when the market opened, and then started climbing up slowly again at 10:30. Why does this happen? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:28 PM PST It's going down quite hard today. Can't find a good source that states why. Anyone heard anything? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:11 PM PST this is a lazy thread but I'm wondering where people see disney going in 2020, if at all? will it be a sideways year? [link] [comments] |
Advice on strategy for selling Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:18 AM PST Hey Stock Community. I've only been investing for a few years. I don't really pay attention to what's going on in the market. I just make it a habit to consistently invest in good companies, regardless of how well they're doing at the current moment, every paycheck. I plan to continually throw money into the market for the rest of my career, regardless if the market is doing good or crashing. Howeverrrr, I've been thinking over doing the following. Right now the market is awesome. I've invested about 90,000 and have profits of about 35,000. Since we're at the top of the market, do you think it would be a wise strategy to leave my original investment of 90,000 and pull out the 35,000 in profits and invest in a 5-year high-yield CD. I would continue to invest in stocks every paycheck like I've been doing, but it's like playing it cautious, because I just feel like everything is way overpriced. What are your thoughts? EDIT: I might have actually just answered my own question after posting this. I've never sold anything before and I forgot about capital gains tax. I think I would be paying more in taxes than what the CD Interest would actually yield. But still very interested in your thoughts if you have a strategy for trying to protect your gains because as of right now, I subscribe to the Buffet approach of buy when you can afford and sell never. Redistributing IRA holdings in 2020 (apple) Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:49 AM PST Redistributing winners in IRA📷 Hi I was looking for some thoughts and opinions on redistributing assets within my IRA. Apple MSFT and V have all been big winners for me over the past few years. The one that particularly stands out is Apple which has run up an insane amount over the past few year. Would it be wise to split my apple position into another stock or etf? Typically I like to hold my positions but when we approach extremes it makes me wonder. Some other points I should make is that I own a variety of etfs and mutual funds that hold apple and I have another smaller group of shares in a non ira account which I will just let run for tax reasons. I also have a strong allocation to healthcare and information technology in all my accounts. So should I hold apple or split it into VOO QQQ MPC MRK ABBV LMT Any thoughts on apple or the companies listed above would be appreciated. In this specific case I am looking in more of a 1-2 year window. Its just tough right now with valuations being so high so I look forward to reading everyone's opinion. [link] [comments] |
I have two questions about evaluating stocks Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:44 AM PST When people talk about a stock being 'undervalued' or their DD says they're bound to go up how exactly do people do the research? Right now my understanding of undervalued is to look at PE ratio and see the market segment as a whole and see how it compares to others. Like 25 is average but something like cars has something in the ballpark of 8 (Which makes Tesla look extremely overvalued compared to the others and yet they skyrocket while the others plummet). So how do people go about evaluating whether a company is under, properly or overvalued? The second question is that even with extremely sophisticated traders with billions on the line, with their entire job riding on them finding the right stocks and having access to the greatest technology and market analysis they still end up not making as much as just passive funds. Is all the research and DD just ultimately just to justify trades in hind sight? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:11 AM PST I'm new to investing and it seems like there's plenty of money to be made in the upcoming 5G roll out across the world. In your opinion what companies are going to profit the most from 5G? What stocks are you holding or plan on purchasing that you believe will be a home run in this sector? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:41 AM PST I picked up a handful of $CTST on the whim of a possible run for the earnings call tomorrow pre-market. Has anybody had any luck with it? Their cash flow scares the shite of me but still think it might be promising for a quick play. Let me know your thoughts! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:41 AM PST What are everyone's thoughts on adding to a Roth when stocks are at an all time high? Is it worth it to keep adding at this point or wait for a drop? [link] [comments] |
FCEL may be worth putting your eyes on Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:32 AM PST This stock is super volatile but things are looking up. Started playing with it at $ .25. Today it's heading up over $1.50. Do your own homework. But you may want to put your eyes on it if nothing else. Keep in mind I'm not telling you to jump into anything. But this one's been wild. [link] [comments] |
What is everyone’s thoughts on Support.com ($SPRT)? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:29 AM PST The company recently handed out its investors a special dividend, which has caused the company to drop almost a dollar over the past few trading days. The company is in good shape financially; however, I'm not too sure if the company will continue to fall or rise after such a big fall. [link] [comments] |
Healthcare/pharmaceutical stock Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:54 AM PST Where can I find information about healthcare/ pharmaceutical stocks? Planing on focusing my portfolio on them. Any recommendations will be deeply appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:26 AM PST Price has broken down out of a long upward channel. Anyone else seeing this weakness. Yes, I realize the entire market is weak today. [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Forbes’ 20 great stock ideas for 2020? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:12 PM PST Are you buying, selling or holding any of the "ideas" in the article? Why? [link] [comments] |
Opinion on Tym Sykes, or any other "market gurus" Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:59 AM PST I'm a new trader with little experience and just want to know if it's worth my time watching them or it's better to read books or just analyze the market by myself. Thank you all for the YouTube idea, I will watch some trading videos. [link] [comments] |
How much should you invest in one stock? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 03:42 AM PST Weird question, of course it depends on how much you can afford and how much you believe you'll get a return. If you make about £25,000 and comfortably cover all your expenses, what is the minimum amount you should invest in each stock? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:06 AM PST before the it bubble in the 00s were there many people speculating that there would be one before the collapses started to occur? like was everybody expecting something to happen or was it a small fraction of people who whispered about it? [link] [comments] |
charles schwab fractional shares Posted: 30 Dec 2019 06:28 AM PST Does anyone know when Charles Schwab will be enabling fractional shares? They announced this feature in October but have yet to implement it (at least I cannot buy 0.5 MSFT with my Roth). This feature is pretty important to me, as I buy $250 worth of stocks bi monthly (every pay period). It would be nice to utilize the full $250 for stocks I want. If nobody knows, I will try calling them. [link] [comments] |
