    Help: Problems with Suppliers

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:20 PM PST

My relatives own a carryout resturant and have been having problems with the meat suppliers. They buy bulk meat, 10 pounds per box, around 30 boxes twice per week. Now there are two problems they are experiencing.

Number one: A significant number of boxes are not 10 pounds. They usually weigh 9.13 pounds and can even dip below to high 8 pounds. My relatives are very meticulous and weigh each and every box because as a small business with a small profit margin, every expense adds up. They complained and the answer they got back was "We will no longer guarantee 10 pounds". But the meat is sold at a price per pound, which means my relatives are the only ones losing out.

Number two: Probably the worse of the two problems. Some of the meat coming in is browning and unusable for consumption. This makes it straight out unusable and is causing a great deal of stress. Again, the supplier refuses to do anything about it.

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure the meat supplier is Tyson. They're way to big for a small business like what our relatives have.

Resources and advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. I'm new to reddit so if there are subreddits more suited for this topic, please point me that way.

What are some other low-maintenance businesses like coin laundry? Any tips/advice on operating coin laundry would also be appreciated.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:25 PM PST

I have an empty plot of land that I've been renting out for extremely cheap. I want to make use of it now. It's in a different country, so I am looking for low-maintenance businesses that I can check in once in a while. I am considering coin laundry, but I have enough space for two or three more stores and would like some ideas/suggestions.

    Best thing about Business

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:36 PM PST

The best thing about businsess, and I think what frees you from money, (besides money itself), is that no matter how much I make, nothing really beats being able to work on my own projects, my own thoughts, my own ideas, on my time schedule, in my own space.

Maybe i'm self absorbed, thats ok, I'm a modern, its fine for a modern to be more than a little self absorbed. But after spending most of my life, studying other peoples words, thoughts, ideas, dreams, visions, prophecy, only the musicians did i not mind hearing about theirs.

How could the CFIUS force ByteDance to sell the TikTok/Musical.ly?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:04 AM PST

    1) Do they have that power, if yes/no how? Note: Im asking how not why

    2) What would realistic happen if ByteDance refuse to sell it apart from losing US market?

    3) Does other country have the same power, like forcing another foreign company to sell their asset like for example China forcing a foreign company who had already acquire majority stake/merge to sell it?

    Dealing With Emails/Notifications

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:39 PM PST

Guys - I have a unique, potentially unpopular perspective that you may or may not agree with.

Running an agency with mostly remote employees, tons of freelancers, and non-local startups as clients with largely distributed teams themselves, I'm getting bombarded with slack messages from different people every time zone of the day.

And my responses create even more messages, questions and action items. The volume is insane -> in my experience, I've tried limiting responses to twice a day. But the problem is those responses are typically for active tasks - meaning they need ongoing approval for around 30 minutes.

My experience has always been - less responses - more frustration - less results. It may work for some kinds of service providers but managing an agency or startup seems to require constant availability.

But add sales emails to the mix and things get tricky. Are you guys tight with your availability to team and stakeholders or do you just hustle and make it happen?

    Curious thoughts....

I Could Use Your Input, Thank You.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:22 AM PST

    Greetings everyone, my name is Alexander R. Gieraltowski, I am currently eighteen years old and live in Downtown Manhattan, NYC. I have always been the type of person who would rather be actively doing something instead of watching TV or stuff like that. For the past three years I have been developing the plans for my dream corporation, the "Settlement Defense Federation." I released a, EXTREMELY BRIEF Statement a few days ago explaining what the Settlement Defense Federation is;

"The Settlement Defense Federation is a Decentralized Government Corporation, a Sovereign State, Comprised of Multiple Subsidiaries Operating in Various Market Sectors. In Accordance with Maritime-Law & with the Articles of the Law of the Sea, the Settlement Defense Federation Seeks to Operate a Sea-Based Micro State 12 nautical miles Off the Coast of Manhattan & Long Island, New York, U.S. The Settlement Defense Federation Strives to Ensure the Continuing Stability & Security of the United States Economy through the Implementation of Efficient & Effective Economic Practices, Additionally Supported by the Research & Development of Advanced Technological Systems with the Capability of Accelerating the Modernization of the United States as a Whole. Externally the Sea-Based Micro State of the Settlement Defense Federation will be Comprised of Multiple Floating Platforms I.e. Retired Aircraft Carriers Upgraded & Outfitted to Support the Operations of the SDF State. Citizens of the SDF Micro State will Operate within its Personal Jurisdiction while Still Being Subject to Certain U.S. Laws."

Attached to that quick statement was a link that people could use to make monetary contribution to the Settlement Defense Federation. Personally I really believe in this Idea and I feel like other people would as well, but I am not sure how to get the point across of what we are trying to accomplish in an efficient and effective way while also making the reader want to make a contribution / donation. I need to raise money in order to make this idea have any chance of success and I am totally stuck at the moment. At this point in time I would use money raised to purchase and build an official website for the Settlement Defense Federation where I could dump as much information as possible.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and I do hope to hear your input and advise, thank you. If you have any questions please feel free to comment them below.
