Posted: 04 Nov 2019 02:25 AM PST What's up everyone. I made this throwaway just to ask this particular question. I'm kinda nervous for the interview because it's a pretty cool job where it could kickstart not only my investing career my also my professional career. I'm definitely a novice at trading and investing. I had some classes about trading during my minor, but I never utilized the theory in actual trading. I think I know the basics in terms of theory, but I can't prove them anything from real life trading experience. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Starbucks inverse to market, continous falling..wtf is going on? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:15 AM PST I didn't see anything terrible in the earnings call, but I didn't see anything amazing. Is this just a continous sell-off and is the guidance for next year dampening hype on Starbucks?... I'm thinking about liquidating my position for a 2k loss now, but I'm not sure...I seriously don't know why this isn't tracking with the SPY currently. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:26 AM PST True to form my timing was bad and now I'm ten percent down. Still a good buy? Invested a bit more today. Surely a good stock to have in the long run? Or am I wrong? [link] [comments] |
Created site to flag key sentences in earnings transcripts Posted: 04 Nov 2019 04:50 AM PST Transcripts are a long read, but management usually has great discussion about what they see happening and what's driving the numbers they report. Even just looking at what management see as opportunities can change how you view what you think of long term growth prospets of a company. I've een building a site that can flag key sentences in transcripts based on key words you have specified or key metrics management is discussing. Based on this, the tool can recommend other managers speaking similarly so you can get a better view of the competitive landscape. I am looking to get feedback from users on feature expansion and how to enhance the usability within an analysis work flow I don't want to put the site here as running on tight resources, but if this is of interest to you DM me and I can point you to the site. At what point should I cut losses on ENPH Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:25 AM PST Hi, still learning about the market. I have some shares of enph that I bought a few months ago when it was in the 25-30$ range. It rose to 35 or so, and then crashed. It is currently at ~18$ and has been dropping about a dollar a day. I know that I can't lose any money until I sell, however I am not sure if I should cut my losses and move on as I am at -34% right now. [link] [comments] |
McDonald's fires CEO for relationship with employee Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:21 PM PST From CBS: McDonald's said Sunday that it had fired CEO Steve Easterbrook due to what the company described as a "recent consensual relationship with an employee" that violated company policy. Chris Kempczinski, formerly president of McDonald's USA, will take over as CEO. [link] [comments] |
What to do before $ATVI earnings? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:41 PM PST Outlook to me looks fantastic for them. I have a big position at 55.50 around and I am leaning to exit right before end of day on earnings day though I am very bullish for their future. any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:45 AM PST Alright, so Lipocine has an earnings report coming up on Wednesday, November 6th, and a few days later, they have their PDUFA date on Saturday, November 9th for their drug TLANDO. I was contemplating buying in, and I wasn't sure if this was a good idea, and if so when I should buy in. For example, I bought into Agile Therapeutics last week, and it was this same kind of situation. They had an earnings report right before their FDA meeting, the report looked grim, they dipped like 60%, the stock was halted all of October 30th (the day of the meeting), then the next day they shot up 300%. So at the end of it all, I went up about 20% or so. Looking at this, I was thinking it might be smart to WAIT this time and buy in AFTER LPCN's earnings report. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
UBER - A perspective from Japan - Is it worth purchasing? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:00 AM PST So I live in Japan and UBER eats is getting incredibly huge here. People are ordering tapioca drinks from 100m down the road and are getting them delivered. The convenience is worth the delivery fee and it's only a matter of time before everyone and their grandmother is using this service. In terms of UBER the taxi service. No one uses it! And that's just because we don't need it here in Japan. That brings me to my point, UBER has a lot of things in motion. Uber eats, Uber Freight, etc. Since a large number of countries in Asia are like Japan, I wouldn't be surprised to see more Uber eats launching in other cities. Not to mention Uber Freight which seems like a fantastic idea for truckers. Are people putting too much thought into the ride sharing service and not considering UBER'S other avenues. If things go super south on Wednesday. I'm thinking of going in hard on Uber stocks and sitting on it for years to come. Hey, 10-20 years down the road it might be the next Netflix stock and I could be up a ridiculous percentage. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:47 AM PST $KTOS is down 9% a day before earnings. Pretty interesting since I haven't seen any bad news today. Insider trading? Or just another day for a small cap? Disclaimer: I'm still bullish longterm, but I'd like to know how other people feel [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:10 AM PST I'll start by saying I personally believe I know 2% of 100% when it comes to trading stocks. I spend a lot of time reading books about the stock market, the history of it, trading options and a few in between. One thing I've taken a shot at lately is trading options on stocks from $2-$8. When I do options, I always buy calls. From the past two weeks, I've traded around 50'ish contracts and haven't lost money on a single one. I always buy them at the beginning of the week, and pick the following week for them to expire. On average, I'd say I pay $150 for the contract(s) and I come out gaining $30-$120. Now that I've said some history, here's my question; why don't people just do that full time instead of just outright buying and selling stocks? If you can get $75 here and there, it adds up. I also know that my time is coming where I lose the full amount more than I gain. Point taken with $Fit. I have 5 contracts set to expire 11/15 at $7.36 and I'm currently -$120, so I know it's not fool proof but that's my only loss so far. For someone to throw more money than I do, buying 50+ contracts seems safer to only lose a portion of money as opposed to buying 5,000 shares out right. Am I at least going down the broad right path to making money or have I just gotten lucky? Thank you for your help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:02 AM PST Hi! I was considering buying NTDOY at the current price of 49.60. Especially with Black Friday approaching, do you think this is a good or bad buy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:17 AM PST Im a teenager(15) and like everyone else I want to make money. I think it was back in may or april I bought 5 shares of AMD for 28.3 dollars. And its going really well. But back then i didnt have much more than 200-300 dollars and i definetly didnt want to invest it all so I invested like 150. Now I have a lot more: about 600$. And Amd is going insanely well right now, I really want to buy more, but i kinda hope tht the price will go down because I dont believe that it will rise to more than 37-38 this year. Should i buy more? Wait? Sell? Any other tips or stuff. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:46 PM PST Looks like this can be really bad for them: Under Armour reportedly faces federal criminal investigation over its accounting practices https://www.wsj.com/articles/under-armour-is-subject-of-federal-accounting-probe-11572819835 [link] [comments] |
What happened to DuPont de Nemours Inc? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:44 AM PST in July 2019 it had an increase from 12 to 64$... what happened? This company became famous for the invention of kevlar [link] [comments] |
What is going on with Solar Edge? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:38 AM PST I bought this stock at $91 a week ago and it's lost 10.5% in that time. What is causing this drop? [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Editas Medicine with earnings coming out tommorow after market? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:57 AM PST The volume has been good so far but many analysts are predicting that there will be a drop due to poor earnings. I don't believe them but it has made me think a bit. What are your thoughts with the earnings coming up and do you own shares of EDIT? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:39 AM PST I'm always told that I should be "keeping up with the story" and doing the Homework by Cramer. I've also read a few books like the one up on wall street and the intelligent investor that also stress the importance of good metrics. So what are some key things I want to be listening for in conference calls? And what is it that makes them so much more valuable rather than things you can get from a stocks summary page provided by your broker? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:54 PM PST Hi all, I am someone with a long investing future so I am looking to take on risk on a dividend growth company. I am looking for any ideas that people have of companies that pay a dividend but are high risk, high reward structured, such as TERP. I am not looking for companies paying a high yield (I don't want a risky dividend itself, but a company that has a high risk attached to it, which can be offset by a high earnings reward). So metrics i'm looking for are a reasonable payout ratio (No higher than 75-85%) and a high revenue growth. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
