    Florida - Fender Bender Insurance

    Florida - Fender Bender

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 05:57 PM PDT

I just finished parking my car on the side of the street while an SUV started reversing toward me in order to park. The muffler hit my front bumper and left a sign (round mark) on my bumper.

I have that on video via my dash cam.

Driver denied that its him and didnt want to exchange info. I took photos of him and his car and I know he went in to a near by motel.

I called the police. They went into the motel, found him based on image. He admitted and the cop filed a report and exchange our info. Meaning I have a police report with his full info and what happened. He was driving a rental and he is out of state.

I know that in FL any claim will raise my rate and most likely for this minor damage, will hit my $1k deductible.

Question is, can I sue him in small claims for damages without involving my insurance?

    Thanks.

    Call Center Hell

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 12:19 PM PDT

I currently am working I'm a Virginia call center for the medicare AEP. Or at least trying to. The company I'm working with for the season has the horrendous 3rd party software that doesn't update RTS statuses properly, sends in calls from states I'm not even licensed in, and best of all, today I just can't even hear the customer. So what is a good use of my time? I am taking the calls and writing down the times they came in and that I cannot hear the customer. This has been since 8 AM. I can't wait to go back to auto insurance claims.

    California - Gap Insurance

    Posted: 27 Oct 2019 12:27 AM PDT

Recently settled a total loss claim for car, they are sending out the check on monday, to my bank, the leinholder. The settlement is much more than what I currently owe on said vehicle, and I have gap insurance. How does this work? Will I get refunded the gap insurance after they receive payment? I owe 1/4ths of what actual cash value on car is worth, should I expect to gain a reimbursement from gap after they receive settlement. Or will they not give anything since loan will be paid in full? Also, car payment is also due on monday, no late fees here; do I bother paying? Technically I'd be just reimbursing myself, correct? Thanks for any help, I apologise if its a bit confusing.

    Health Insurance requirements/options

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:24 PM PDT

[NY] So this will be a longish one. I just need to know my options and perhaps this is more of a tax question than insurance but we shall see.

I am currently selfemployed and receiving health insurance through the New York State of Health exchange for my whole family. (Nys version of healthcare.gov). It is a family of 5.

I begin a new job on November 4th (in insurance funny enough) but the healthcare options do not kick in until day 31 of employment.

I know I have to accept the coverage through work formyself because I currently get it subsidized but do I have to do my whole family on the work insurance or can I still insure them through the NYSoH?

(California) Can anyone recommend good insurers who are most likely to write a mobile home (1973)

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 09:52 PM PDT

    - In a park

    - Owner-occupied

    - New roof (just replaced within the last 5 years)

    - Vinyl Siding

    - Has some water damage to floors & walls in one of the two bathrooms. (Can't see it visually, but an inspector would be able to tell with their tools.)

    - Zone X

I'm not really sure where to go or who to ask because I keep getting told that because of the year, it's not liable to be picked up by most insurers. But I'll also be honest, I haven't gone about asking a bunch yet.

I've heard that I'd do better asking specialty insurers, but the only one I know of is Foremost Star and I'm planning on asking them at some point in the near future, but I'd love to hear other options if you guys know of any?

Just throw some names at me, I'll do some calling around. Thank you for any and all advice and recs!

Love tap: I have no clue how to proceed

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 09:47 PM PDT

Wife bumped into the back of someone. Neither party took pictures or filed a police report. They only exchanged insurance info and drivers licenses. Wife claims a scratch of about 1 inch long was visible on other driver's bumper. No damage is visible on my wife's vehicle. Other person's insurance company called my wife but didn't leave a voicemail.

What the hell should I tell my wife to do? I understand that she shouldn't talk to the other person's insurance company, but should she contact our insurance company? If so, what do we tell them? How do we avoid digging ourselves into a hole?

Should I file a complaint with the State?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 08:34 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm with progressive in Virginia. Over a year ago, I crashed my Audi S4. Despite me taking my car in again for repairs (hit a deer about 8 months after original accident), insurance has still not repaired my car to its original condition. When I got the car back after about 4-5 months (which already was very inconvenient), I had a bad wheel bearing on the front left side. Also, I haven't been refunded for the aftermarket grille I had on there at the time of the deer hit. Should I complain again to Progressive or should I go straight to the Virginia State Corporation Commission?

Frame Damage on an Auto Claim and I'm in the dark

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:28 AM PDT

    Hey folks

Last week my 2018 Tacoma was rear-ended at a high rate of speed. Instantly knew there was frame damage, but didn't know the extent. Liberty Mutual (my company) referred to a "preferred" repair shop, who just completed the estimate of damages. They confirmed that the rear frame rails were damaged, that the box needs reconstruction, and put the total cost at 55% of the vehicle's value. In short, not a total loss.

I need to follow-up with the claims adjuster on Monday, but I'd like to be better prepared for the conversation.

Is it unreasonable to want to push for a total loss? I have no interest in being back in a truck that had structural damage, especially carting my kids around. Plus, the truck is only 10 months old with 10k miles, and I fear a lifetime of repair related headaches.

Would the insurance company have an appetite to continue to insure a vehicle with frame damage? It seems like that would move it in the actuarial charts into riskier territory.

If I'm stuck with the truck, I'm looking at (I think) at least a 30% hit in valuation. How hard is this to pursue?

I appreciate any help or insight that's out there.

Edit: THANK YOU to everyone who chimed in. For clarification, I'm in New York and will follow up with the State Insurance Fund with any specific questions on DV. I'm grateful for all of the thoughtful and helpful replies.

    Strange Water Damage Claim

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:39 PM PDT

We had water running down the exterior of our condo due to our drain pipe getting clogged and our association not fixing it.

Anyway, at first insurance didn't listen to our claim and pictures, I had to appeal and basically show them the source of the water corresponded with the flooding. After the fact they came back and accepted our claim.

Enter Servpro, who determined that the tiny hole (probably the size of a dime or so) had allowed water to run all along the front wall of our unit, potentially damaging 20-30 feet of drywall that would need to be removed waist high. Obviously this changed our claim valuation...

The guy from Servpro, and the Association contractors believe there may be additional things going on behind drywall, but we've never seen evidence of this. The insurance wants to come back through once Servpro has removed drywall and found out the real extent of damage to further assess the amount for repair.

Is there potential for them to deny our claim after we received our initial payout on account of additional places where water could have entered our unit despite us and them having any evidence that the water entered from those locations?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 08:35 AM PDT

Cardiff, Wales, UK. Short of the story is I've had a bad month. I'm with more than smart wheels back box. I've broke the speed limit 4 times. And a final time on a tow truck. (damaged my car on a speedbump) More thans app still shows my speed score as plus 6 (good) and I've had no previous warnings. Am I likely to receive a warning or will it be more serious?

Max out of pocket on family plan

[US, Arkansas] Private disability insurance "Active Service" requirement

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 01:58 PM PDT

I am a disabled individual (aged 37), but currently employed (company makes accommodations far exceeding "reasonable", and I have Medicare but no SSDI since my income exceeds limits). As of late, with mounting health issues, my doctors and psychiatrist have suggested going back on SSDI before I totally fall apart physically, mentally, or both.

I have been purchasing long-term disability insurance through my employer since day one (7 years ago) with the foreknowledge that this day would probably come. The wife and I are prepared to make needed lifestyle changes, but there's a section in the Plan terms which raises two questions for us:

Your Disability Insurance will continue if your Active Service ends because of a Disability for which benefits under the Policy are or may become payable. Your premiums will be waived while Disability Benefits are payable. If you do not return to Active Service, this insurance ends when your Disability ends or when benefits are no longer payable, whichever occurs first.

If your Active Service ends due to an approved leave pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), insurance will continue up to the later of the period of your approved FMLA leave or the leave period required by law in the state in which you are employed.

The two questions are really just one mega-question, each playing off each other:

I'm pretty sure I don't qualify under FMLA, as I do all my work remotely from home and there's not one of their branch offices within a 75-mile radius; but, I don't know if there's a special dispensation in FMLA law given my status.

If FMLA doesn't apply, then from paragraph 1 it sounds like my disability benefit is not reliant on my "Active Service" with the employer and instead lasts til the end of my disability or age 65 (as described elsewhere). This would be nice, as that would allow me to supplement my SSDI with this private plan indefinitely, at least til I become self-sustaining again; but it also sounds like they could terminate my employment at any time (at least pursuant to any applicable Arkansas law, of which I think there's none), so we'd need to plan for continuing my wife's insurance and medical care.

If FMLA does apply, it looks like paragraph 2 potentially hoses me, because it looks like it's saying that after the 12-week FMLA period, then coverage will end and I'd be drawing no further benefit from this plan... which is ridiculous, since the plan already has a 90-day waiting period, which makes it sound like if I use up my 90-day short-term disability benefit (I have both), then I'd never get any LTD benefit cause my three-months FMLA leave would be used up.

So, does FMLA apply here? Am I required to make a leave claim against it, or can I just get my doctors to fill out the relevant paperwork? (This won't be the first time I've had to use my short-term plan, at least, so I know what to do to kick start the process). Or is there some other reading of these two paragraphs I'm not gathering as a layperson???

Looking for a program that will assign quotes in rotation to employees

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 01:25 PM PDT

I work at a small insurance agency. There seems to be confusion on who receives which quotes because we are never really sure who's up next. Is there a program, app, website, or other that we can use/modify to accomplish the tracking for us? I was thinking of making a google doc with the info but I really want something not so public. I was hoping the agent could put the information on their end, the program assigns the information to the employee, and only that employee receives that information. We also have the AgencyMatrix program. I was looking for way to do it in that program but I could not really find a simplistic way to do so. Making it simple and easy is going to be the key to implementation.

    Help applying for license

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 01:01 PM PDT

Hi, so i recently passed my Michigan Property and Casualty producer/solicitor test, and i think i need some help.

When I go to NIPR.com, it gives me a fairly long list with a bunch of different options to apply for. When I try to select Property and Casualty under the Producer tab and Solicitor tab it wont allow me to continue.

I guess my question is, should i only be trying to apply for a producers license instead of both?

Insurance denied my renter insurance claim for bulgary!

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 12:45 PM PDT

    Hello

My car was broken into a few months ago in the underground garage of my apartment complex. I filed a police report and talked to my landlord (via email and have records) and I filed a claim with my insurance.

I kept sending emails to the insurance but my adjuster doesn't respond. I called her via TTY (I am speech impaired) and she answered and said I want to ask you some questions on the phone instead of email just cuz its quicker. She asked me a couple of questions about the gates in the community and if the gate was broken or not. I said one of them is always broken and the other is not. I told her to please check her email because I sent 3 emails and she said she will respond.

Anyways 3 weeks later I got nothing from her. So I sent an email and she replies and said that the denied the claim because there is no evidence of forced entry and said also that they do not cover the garage because it is not leased premises.

And said that they sent a letter via mail. I read the letter and it only says that there is no evidence of forced entry even though I already sent them the police report but did not send any photos of the damages to my car yet because I was waiting for her response.

A $1700 Macbook and a $1000 phone were stolen from my car and this small unknown insurance company are not cooperating. What should I do?

Phoenix Arizona and company called bader company but the claim is held by smart choice

    Which Insurance Plan?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 12:33 PM PDT

Hi, I'm a 21 yr old man living in Seattle. I just started with this company in August. Due to circumstances, I need to enroll in my own Health Insurance. These are the three plans offered (Bronze, Silver, Gold) under the guide. http://www.altogethergreat.com/wp-content/uploads/Compass-Group-2019-Benefits-Enrollment-Guide.pdf

    Plans: Bronze = $40-60, Silver = $60-80, Gold = $120-140

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me figure out the best plan to get the most out of it cost-effectively. I haven't been in to the doctor/hospital in years. Here's a list of some of the following things I'd like to get checked in on:

    • Depression/Anxiety/Therapy
    • Sexual Health (PreP)
    • Physical Wellness
    • Dental

Basically, my concerns are of how much I'm looking at for insurance, and then how much I'm looking at for things like OTC prescriptions, therapy, checkups, and other things that might be important. There are some that I haven't listed just because I'm not too sure I really need them or not. I just feel stressed looking through the plans and not knowing if I'm doing it properly. I was thinking of getting the Silver Plus Plan BlueCross Blue Shield NC plan. If anyone has any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate them.

    Husband fell at concert

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 10:34 AM PDT

My husband went to a concert last week at a very respectable music venue. There was extreme light shows during the songs and during one of them that was very intense/ flashing he passed out and cut his chin open badly. He had to go to the ER for stitches and CAT scan. He had only had one beer, so he was not intoxicated. From Google, I am 99.9% sure what happened was flicker vertigo (a phenomenon where you lose consciousness during flashing lights). As far as I know there were no warnings of the intensity of the lights during the performance, which seems like there should be, at least for epileptic people. Should the venue be responsible for his medical bills? How would we go about taking care of this?

Insurance Sales... or a MLM scheme? Discussion/Looking for Advice

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 10:27 AM PDT

Hey guys! I am in Hampton Roads, Va. I am 28 years old and I currently work full time for a bank. I am looking to make the transition to insurance sales as right now I gross 45k a year and I am pretty stagnant in my position. One of my friends recently made the jump but she filled the last slot at her agency. :/

So I've been doing some research and I've noticed lately that there has been a significant increase in MLMs disguised as insurance agencies popping up on Glassdoor, Ziprecruiter, etc. Each one has a seductive message of "Unlimited earning potential! Make six figures your first year with only a high school diploma! Be your own boss! Make your own schedule!" My philosophy is if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

How can I weed out these pesky MLMS to find a legit insurance agency? I'm really trying for Allstate, AAA, or USAA. Something I've actually heard of, but all I find are these no name companies that are subsidiaries of Primerica or Equis.

Also, is it absolutely necessary to retain my P&C license before I apply or can the company I am hired for pay for that?

    Any advice?

    USHEALTH Advisors job

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 09:07 AM PDT

Prior to the interview and working for them, I knew NOTHING about insurance. I've since committed to learning as much as I can about Health/Accident and Life, and I'm finding I don't feel too comfortable about the type of coverage the policies offer their customers. It sounds amazing on the surface, but I'm seeing holes.

Does anyone with more experience in the field have prior knowledge of this company and their policies, and what is your opinion with them? Should I pursue success in this company, or is it time to find a different job in this field?

Belair Automerit "I was a passenger"

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 08:48 AM PDT

Belair has a program where you can track your driving (through their app) and receive discounted rates if you don't speed or accelerate too quickly etc. I'm assuming they use machine learning to calculate your score. There is also an option to mark a trip as "I was a passenger" if you appeared to have been driving but you were only a passenger so it shouldn't affect your driving record. There is nothing stopping you from marking all trips as "passenger". Does Belair use algorithms to detect if you're lying? Does it void your insurance if you constantly lie and say you were just a passenger?

Edit: just to clarify, I don't do this but I know people who do. I was just wondering how they can get away with it.

Added a driver, he caused an accident

    Posted: 26 Oct 2019 08:37 AM PDT

I'm in NYC,NY. I have Progressive full coverage with a driver added on to my policy. The added driver (my fiancé) caused an accident. My fiancé gave our insurance info to the other party. However the other party agreed that it is best to settle w/out getting insurance involved, he said it's because he has Geico and he doesn't want to have his rate increase either. I'm not sure it would because the accident was my fiancé's fault. So I'm assuming he wants to take the money and then report the accident later on. When it is time to renew, I will not be keeping my fiancé as an added driver so I want to know, my own rate increase due to an accident he caused?
